Yes, it was very sudden, i thought his not posting was serious but didn't dare think of something so awful, can't imagine what was going though his mind at the time.

People can often be in a dark place and show no outward sign to friends and loved ones. No matter what, I’m sure he valued the friendship he had with you and Mollie

I second all that

Thank you Baz, pour post is much appreciated.

We are still in shock and of course feeling very upset at the news.

I can imagine Hicky .....my heart goes out to you and Mollie ...its so very sad It’s amazing how close you can become with people on the forum ...even though you may  never met many of them . I lost my husband last year and quite frankly I don’t know how I would have got through it all without the friendship and love of my forum friends . Anyway , I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you all

Baz

sorry to hear about your loss only last year.

You are so right, I am surprised how close I became to Emptybox despite never meeting him, and how very upset I was on hearing this tragic news.

It is so nice to have you and others call in here offering support to Hicky and I. It feels lonely for us both without dear Emptybox's posts now.

It is good to hear how your forum friends were around for you in your time of need.

Thank you so much Yogi19

Yes we had a lovely caring (even though we didn't physically meet) forum relationship for so many years and that is the reason it hurts so much without him.

I feel so sad that (even with Hicky and I around daily), he must of felt his life was not worth living.

But as you say, some people can be in a dark place and hide it well.

Hicky

what a relief you can use both eyes again now. How long do you have to keep your head up high for? Did you find it difficult to sleep like that?

Enjoy your beef tongue sandwiches.   I had a veggie burger in  the pub with the family for my tea. Very nice.

Is the COPD nurse checking your inhaler again? I think you said you are getting on well with the latest one she gave you, aren't you?

Gosh it feels so cold here today, wet and windy too, we now have a yellow weather warning in place.

Can you go to the "Emptybox" PM as I have something to ask you?

Looking forward to watching Gogglebox tonight.

Goodnight Hicky xxx

M

Morning Mollie.

I can see a lot better now, o/h said my eye/surround is swollen, my problem is, i have to take my glasses off to see the area then i can't see anyway.

It is hard to sleep on more pillows, they said it is to stop the wounds swelling, i will give it a go for a while and see if the swelling eases.

Yes, enjoyed the beef tongue sandwiches, will slice and freeze the rest of the tongue.

Yes, the COPD nurse checks my breathing as well as other stuff, have no problem with the inhaler i am using once a day.

I posted in the message section, i of course agree with you.

I can watch highlights of the F1 Practices at 6.30 so pleased about that, watched the first 3 races live in Oz on TV

Rotten day here, 9c heavy rain and gales of 59 dropping to 41 later..

Hicky

Good Morning Baz,

My eye op isn't giving me any pain, which i'm happy about.

I am supposed to put the ointment on 3 times a day, but ointment doesn't seem to soak in so it's still there when i go to put more on.

Been coughing all night, must have a cold, been blowing my nose a lot as well.

Had a look around the garden, a few things in my manshed lying on the floor, not quite sure how as non of the 22 non glass windows are missing, can only imagine the gales have been shaking the shed.

Have got some Asparagus to pick as well, should have picked it the other day but the weather too bad.

Made a full English for us this morning, and had a Skype with my Lad and his family in Sidney, so good to be able to see and chat to them all.

Thanks for posting Baz.

Hicky

Hi Hicky

I left you a message in the Emptybox PM section yesterday, but don't think you saw it?

I am glad to hear you are not in pain with your eyes. Did you manage to sleep ok propped up last night? Hopefully if you don't have swelling now, you won't get any now as it is a few days ago. Wonder if the ointment is the sort that only ever partly absorbs?

Oh dear, sorry you have a nasty cough again. It is so tiring when it keeps you awake. Wonder if the pollen is aggravating you? My cough was bad the night before last, and I took an antihistamine last night and it was a lot better.

Good job those awful winds yesterday didn't do damage to your manshed, as you say, sounds like it got a good shaking yesterday.

Are you going to cook your aparagus?

How nice you got to skype the family in Sydney, I am sure you are missing them after spending so much time with them recently.

We too had a cooked brekkie today, but in the Weatherspoon. Always good value for the money.

Still chilly here today, but at least that awful wind has gone.

Daughter is staying at neighbours looking after their dog whilst they go away.

Have a good day Hicky. xxx

M

Hi Mollie.

Quite hard for me to sleep at all propped up as i can only sleep on my side.

I don't think ointment sinks in as it is and from liquid paraffin and soft white paraffin and that doesn't evaporate very quick, if at all.

I keep the Asparagus in a jar with some cold water in until there is enough for a meal, we usually fry it with a little butter and pepper.

O/H is going to make a roast dinner, we got some Jacobs Ladder from the butchers.

Got to finish putting the roof netting on the Cherry fruit cage as had to abandon with the gales.

F1 race not on till 7pm as Sky have the monopoly this year, hate them.

Hope you daughter doesn't mind spending valuable time looking after a dog for your neighbour, think i would be hiring some help to sort the dogs problems out, or another dog for company.

Yes , as it finally stopped raining in the early hours , so I  went  out in my garden today and swept all the leaves and twigs that had blown all over it yesterday ! But I don’t think there is much that can be done with my tulips and daffodils , which are now laying vertical

Hi Ba\=z.

Been coughing so much throat starting to hurt as well, only been back from Australia for a week, it was ok the first few days but since it has gone wet, that always gets me.

I managed to finish the netting on top of the fruit cage as the blackbirds will be round soon.

Think you mean your flowers are horizontal don't you as vertical is standing up.

oh yes, Jenny and Lee...that is the caravaner's names, I am hopeless with names. I like the other Goggleboxers you mention too.

Will have to watch on catch up this week though, as on Friday I am going to Emptybox's funeral    so won't be home till very late.

That is sad you have lost 3 internet friends now. It is so strange how close we can feel to people we have never met, probably because they become a part of our every day lives.

poor you Hicky with a nasty cough again.   Do you still have some antibiotics left for it? Wonder if you picked up another cold on the plane? I know that planes are breeding places for germs, and it was such a long journey for you. Did it keep you awake again last night?

Good job you finished your netting on the fruit cages before those hungry birds get at your fruit.

Weekend went too quickly and OH working away again all week. He left about 5am to avoid the traffic. He said it is getting light even that early now. I have been trying to sort his accomodation out again, I have to shop around to find the cheapest place each week as prices very so much depending on where others have booked. Sometimes he stays in Premier Inn, sometimes Traveloddge and sometimes Weatherspoon. This week he is staying somewhere else as they offered a discount this week so that one was cheapest. I am hoping it is ok, it is important to him they have good internet acess and phone reception.

Milder again today and dry now.

Gas man came this morning for annual inspection.

How are your eyes now HIcky?

Good Morning Everyone.

I had an early night as i needed sleep, went o bed at 5pm, cough is almost gone now.

Weather today looks ok, max of 17c with sunny intervals and gentle breeze.

Mollie, yes, i have a pack of antibiotics left as i bought an extra pack on a repeat prescription in Oz, will only take them if i think i really need them, it's easier to get to see a doctor in Oz than it is here, i got an appointment within a couple of hours of asking.

Not a lot i can do in the garden till the new veg arrive, a few weeds need removing thats all.

I could have picked something up from the flight, always hard to tell.

Baz, The eye, or skin under it seems to be healing ok, i can't see it very easy as i have to take my glasses off, then i can see less.

I will keep putting the ointment on as instructed, for 14 days, seems a bit extreme.

My life seems to be all appointments, i have 5 in May and 1 still to come.

One of the penalties of ageing i suppose.

Hi Hicky  You are certainly getting your monies worth Glad things are gradually settling down though ....but yes, old age sucks!

Mollie ..hope you’re having a good day

Baz

Evening Baz.

A nice 17c today, sunny intervals with gentle breeze.

Just had a couple of Crumpets for brekkie.

Managed to plant the 27 Showmaster onion plants that came while i was away, my neighbour took them in and kept them alive, when i got home a week later i had to put them in small pots till the end of April as they said in the paperwork.

Had a swing on the swing seat while the sun was out, did some weeding.

Had some chicken soup before, didn't really feel like anything else, been coughing a bit during the day, hope it lets me sleep tonight.

My eye op seems ok, still putting the ointment on as they said.

Been looking for a good recipe for deep fried alt and pepper ribs, then i saw one of the ingredients is sweet potato powder so i ordered a bag online to try it.

What do you do with yourself these day Baz?

Hope Mollie has had a good day with the weather being pretty good today.

Hicky

Evening Mollie.

No problem, it sounds quite draining, proof reading all that text.

13c today, light cloud with gentle breeze.

Have been coughing still, not too bad, used my medical test kit to see if i have an infection, the ear temperature test was normal, blood oxygen ok for me, pulse ok.

Had bacon, tomato, mushroom and egg for brekkie, o/h went out to the shops for a few bits, got me some fruit and a rather nice fruit tart which i hasd on receipt.

Might have beens on toast for tea.

Hicky

Hi HIcky and Baz

so nice to see you call in Baz. Hope you are having a good day.

Hicky

sorry you have still been coughing, hope it is not an infection.

My cough also woke me up in the middle of the night, just when I thought it had gone. Weird how these coughs are hanging on now, it is nearly summer. Mine is a dry cough, so I'll try and drink plenty of water today.

A fruit tart sounds very nice.

My friend came for coffee today, haven't seen her much over the winter as one or the other of us seems to have had these horrid coughs. Good job summer is round the corner.

Gosh I am so missing Emptybox saying what he has done and the tv he has watched.

Are you still watching your recordings Hicky?

I am watching a tv show about kiddies in different parts of the world on itv now.

Baz

Hi Mollie & Baz.

13c today, light rain with moderate breeze.

Have started on the antibiotics i have from Oz, looking at the phlegm colour it didn't look clear and with being colour blind i didn't know what colour it was,

Yes, Emptybox is sorely missed and always will be, still can't believe what happened, it is lovely that you will go to the funeral and meet up with his brother, his brother won't be aware that he lived his life on here like we all do, if only there was something we could have done to ease his worries or pain.

I had a lot of recording when i got back from Oz, deleted a lot when i found they were repeats.

I have missed a lot of TV programs as i have been going to bed early as too exhausted to stay up.

My bottle of Chinese Rice Wine comes today, part of my deep Fried Pork Spare Rob recipe, found a recipe from Oz and another from the Philippines.

Had a bit of trouble with chopsticks in Oz so have been learning from a video how to use them correct.

Hi Mollie, Baz and Yogi.

Saw the PM Mollie, that seems to be correct, see you when you return, hope seeing his relations isn't too distressful, but i.m sure they will be happy to know that he wasn't lonely for all these past years when we chatted almost daily, no idea when we started posting on C4, i thought it was for quite a long time.

Baz, yes, hope these antibiotics solve the problem, they did in Oz but i had 2 lots, one after the other, not 1.

I think that’s a pretty normal reaction for family and friends, Hicky.

I know from speaking to my youngest DiL who is a mental health nurse that, if someone has made the decision, then there is little anyone can do to change it.

She also said that people are often very good at masking how they are feeling so, nobody realises their inner turmoil.

Even though you never met, you and Mollie were very good friends to Emptybox, and I’m sure he valued your friendship.

Hallo HIcky, Baz and Yogi

thank you for your posts, it is good and a comfort to me to see them here today, because it was an incredibly moving and sad day yesterday.

I have a busy day today as son is performing in his play twice and I am taking 6 people, then having a meal with them. But  I am glad because I need something to occupy me, as  yesterday was so emotiional.

I want to type here about the funeral, so all who post on here can read it. Emptybox shared a lot with us here, so I think it is the right thing to do.

The family were all as shocked as we were and had no idea of why this could of happened. All of them clearly loved him dearly and like Hicky and I wished they could of done something to help him.

M

Hello Baz and Yogi.

You are of course right, whatever Emptybox had in his head wasn't going to be changed that easy.

He last posted on 4th April at 11.41pm, I was in Australia then still but had been posting most days depending on where i was and if i could get Wifi or not.

We of course knew about a medical condition which was becoming a bigger problem as time went by, i can only think that he knew he needed medical help which could mean him needing hospital treatment, and being a loner it could have been something he couldn't face as he knew about similar conditions i had gone through, i'm sure we would have been aware of any other problems which had been on his mind, i just think he didn't want to become a burden to others, so sad.

Hicky

Hi Mollie and Hicky It’s so very sad ....life’s a baitch at times , isn’t it But I’m sure knowing that you were both so fond of Emptybox was of comfort to his family and friends .

 Hi Baz.

I don't think his brother or anyone else was aware we had all been posting for so many years, so sad to lose him like that, and dreadful for his brother of course.

I think my chest infection has cleared, still got some chest problems but things have eased and a lot more comfortable, sleeping better as well.

All went well for Mollie, can't wait for her report, she is going to post it here in public chat, she has been a bit busy so there will be a little delay, she posted in private to let me know.
