Evening both.
Quite cold and windy today, but mostly sunny. About 14c.
Got a lot of work done, including the one that I only half finished yesterday. Worked till about 6.30pm, when the heavens opened.
I still wish I could have got 3 or 4 more places done before the weekend, but they'll just have to wait for Monday.
The grass is very green, lush and damp now. A complete contrast from a few weeks ago.

The forecast for tomorrow still seems to be good, so I got a phone call tonight saying that my visitors will be coming on the bike.
They are only staying till 5pm though, so won't need fish and chips, as they'll be aiming to get home for dinner.
I think I'll still give them my home made soup for lunch though, with cheese and biscuits probably.

Hicky. Hope the gel wrap helps your OH's knee.
Thanks for the Goat's milk link. Think I'll stick to soya or almond for now.
That was good luck, finding more figs hiding under the leaves.

Mollie. Hope you get the scan soon then. I knew you were still having trouble with the knee. These things take a long time to heal.
I'm still having problems with my left leg. I must have damaged ligaments or tendons nearly a year ago, and I still have to be careful when I bend it quickly.
Pity your washing got a soaking.

Glad Natalie went. We'll maybe get to see more of the others now.
I was surpised that Hardeep got more votes, as I thought Natalie would have a lot of fans.

Evening Mollie.

Didn't do a lot today, 17c sunny intervals, wind 14 decreasing.

Put a jacket on as it seemed cool.

Had F1 2 times today to watch love, had Love Island to watch, had last nights live feed, and have got CBB tonight.

Had black pudding and bacon for brekkie and Ribeye Steak with onions and French Fries for trea.

Am emptying the tubs in the greenhouse, but it's a lot of compost to move so will take a while, only the tomato growing now in the greenhouse, but tons outside.

I read that Rodrigo has left CBB, he might have been booted.

Bought a new set of frying pans, a triple set, the non stick on pans is useless so am trying these, a 25 year guarantee might help.

https://www.procook.co.uk/prod...01ef&fo_s=gplauk

O/H hasn't tried the jell yet, maybe because she works at the weekend.

I didn't want Natalie to go, but knew she would, a female always goes first.

The Goats milk is nice, pity it's so expensive though.

Thats bad luck getting the washing wet, nasty weather, can't be helped.

Yes, it looks like a good crop of pears this year, only got 3 types but with apples i have 8 types.

Hicky

Emptybox

that's good you were able to get quite a lot of work done, as you needed to, with the grass growth taking off so late in the day this summer. Hope you can catch up further on Monday.

I hope you had a nice day with your visitors and the forecast was right for them to enjoy their bike ride. Being soup that is home made, I am sure your planned lunch menu will of gone down well.

Sorry to hear your knee too is not properly healed. Damn nuisance when we damage ourselves,it is.

Hicky

do you plan to put anything else in the greenhouse soon now you only have tomatoes in there?

Those pans look good ones, especially with a 25 year guarantee too!

It must be difficult for your OH with her bad knees and work, hope she can get time to try and see if the gel helps soon.

Gosh 8 types of apple, that is good going, didn't even realise you could get that many varieties.

It will be quiet in CBB house minus Natalie and Rodrigo! Apart from Kirstie, I think a lot of them are rather dull and the same type now.

Been a nice day here today. Got all today's and yesterdays washing nicely dry. Son, OH and me went for brekkie in Weatherspoons with my friend as her OH was on a 10k run, (I'd prefer the brekkie out any time to doing that!!!). Excleent value as usual.

Tomorrow we are going to see OH's family in North Wales and staying for 2 nights. As we go on a Sunday, hopefully we will of missed all the heavy bank hol traffic. We hope to take our little niece out for a day on Monday if weather is dry.

I will be back on Tuesday.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening.
Nice enough day here. Dry and sunny most of the day, but quite cool.

The visitors came and went on their bike without incident.
They seemed to like the home made soup, at least they didn't complain.
Only problem was when I made them cups of tea and used green tea bags instead of proper tea by mistake. I couldn't understand why it looked so weak.
But we tipped those out and made proper tea for them (I still had green tea), so no harm done. .
They only stayed till 5pm, so were only here for 4 and a half hours anyway.

I was then able to have my usual spag bol and beer.

Hicky. That's good that you had the F1 to watch as well as Love Island.
Those pans look good, but fairly pricey.

Mollie. Enjoy your couple of days away.

Yes it's annoying when you pick up injuries. I fell over yesterday and hurt my shoulder while cutting a hedge, and it was fairly stiff this morning. No great damage done though thankfully. I was looking at the hedge I was cutting and not paying attention to the ground, and my foot went into a rut and over I went (the hedgecutter went flying).

Glad you enjoyed your Wetherspoons brekkie with friend. Yes much more preferable to a long run.

Strange the way Rodrigo went, and they didn't give any explanation.
He says he left voluntarily, and Channel 5 say they thew him out.
I didn't like him to begin with, but he was beginning to grow on me.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Cool here, got my coat on, 17c rain and strong winds.

Just had a round of toast with marmalade for brekkie and i was making a lamb roast dinner for 2pm when o/h comes back from work, i only do roast spuds, boiled carrots, steamed cabbage and cauliflower, with nice thick gravy, had some of my home made mint, it was rather nice, i use the new meat probe to cook the lamb as it's pretty good.

Will be making a seeded loaf again tomorrow, will make up a special recipe witht he best from a few recipes.

Had 4 Figs last night, they were ripe so i had them myself, roasted with honey over, tasty, found a couple more almost ready, they go soft and go very dark when ripe.

Mollie, I don't usually grow food in the winter, my watering system has to be turned off and the greenhouse should stay dry really, too much humidity is bad in a greenhouse, i am taking the tubs out, won;'t be growing anything in the greenhouse next year, just the grape vine.

I'm hoping these pans will last better than the normal non stick, which are a waste of money, non of the work after a short time, they are a joke, i was looking for normal non, non stick frying pans but couldn't find any other than cast irin which are the best, but too heavy for o/h.

Hope your trip to o/h family goes well, the weather should be ok.

Yes, it will change in the house now those 2 have left, hope it's for the better.

Emptybox, Glad the visitors enjoyed your soup, did you ask them if it was ok, what type was it.

Did you think the pans were pricey, oh, i do like ProCook though, have had a lot of stuff from them, i get another free ÂĢ48 knife as well, for one last time i bought something as well.

I wonder if we will find out the truth about Rodrigo leaving.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Raining here most of the day and cool.

Just went to the supermarket as usual.

Your lamb roast sounds good.

Glad your figs were tasty.

The soup was my home-made spicy tomato. I don't have any other type.

They assured me it wasn't too spicy.

Unless Rodrigo admits in an interview that he was thrown out, I doubt we'll ever find out what happened.

Evening Emptybox.

Cool again, 18c light cloud all day, pretty windy though 23 decreasing.

Made a loaf, i tried to make a good size one, it was a 2.5LB one, with seeds but i used too much yeast as it rose to the top and bulged over the side of the pan, it cooked well anyway, o/h enjoyed it, i had the first crust which was yummy, with butter and my marmalade.

Been taking the compost from the greenhouse tubs, filled buckets 3/4 full used 6 buckets then took them over to the raspberry raised bed, added feed then raked over.

Had a beefsteak with a hash brown for brekkie, for tea had the new loaf crust and 6 spring rolls.

O/H has her interview in the morning, about her knee and i am at the eye clinic in the afternoon for tests.

The forecast for here is dry for the next 2 weeks, but as we know that can change.

Had an apple from the Scrumptious tree, very nice, pips are brown so thats good.

Oh, it was your homemade soup, that is good then, i might be having an awful lot of toms, i have 4 with cherry toms and each has about 7 big trusses of toms on now, and 6 plants of normal toms i bought in case the others didn't work, but they did.

We will probably find out what went on with Rodrigo, one paper said he had a meltdown in the DR over Natalie going.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Dull and cold start here, but got a bit warmer this afternoon. Cloudy and drizzly at times as well.

Got a few jobs done but grass stayed wet all day.

One place I cut for the first time in two months , because it got completely dry and yellow, and is only now coming back to life. I checked on it every couple of weeks though.

That was a big loaf at 2.5lbs? Good job it got the OH seal of approval.

You're making good use if that compost from the greenhouse tubs.

That's good that you are getting a lot of tomatoes.

I've got a lot of little ones coming now. I'm making sure I don't water too much, so hopefully I'll get less split ones. I might make another batch of soup as well.

Are you and OH going to the same place tomorrow, or is the eye clinic at a different location to the knee place?

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Not done a lot today, 18c light cloud and light wind.

O/H went to the hospital for her consultation, went ok, could be down for an op in November, so busy, i was at a different hospital this afternoon, they just did eye tests and pictures will will go to the eye doc, will get appointment for next visit later.

We were going to go out for brekkie but we decided to make our own, so we had sausages, bacon, tomato and beans with my toasted bread, it was very nice.

For tea i have decided to use the rest of a chicken o/h cooked, i am making chicken Pakora batter, spiced as usual then i will fry in the wok for tea, it's just marinating at the mo.

I'm going to have to spread out the back row of fruit trees, will scrap the Olive tree, waste of time, the others need more room to spread, they are crossing one another.

Found another 4 Figs that are ready to eat, if i see my neighbour in the morning will give her them.

Have been getting calls from various places saying it is bt, often number withheld or international, well today i listen to what he said, in the end he told me to enter what he says into the run box of the command line, he told me to enter www. then teamviwer/com i said why should i do this, he said it's a website, i said i know, what is the site, he said it will show us who is using your INTERNET, i said if you are bt you know everything that happens, he said we know the addresses but we want to know who it is, he told me what my 32 character number was in the computer when i searched in command for assoc, so i said what is my IP, i have them written down you see, anyway, he gave me half righ and the rest wrong, i said thats not my IP, he hung up.

The teanviewer.com site has a download so 2 or more computers can link and control the other computers, i found this out after looking on google, isn't that strange, but these have been ringing daily, sometimes more than once a day, but they spoke as though they were talking to someone that hadn't a clue about computers, i went along until they ask for something i don't want to give them or till they tell me to do something suspicious, very strange, i have dealt with companies that have control of a computer before and not like this, i will see what they say next time.

Isn;t it funny how grass can bounce back, wonder how that is, or is it just because the roots didn't dry out.

The compost is mainly John Innis, either 1, 2 or 3 so it's heavy but i will mix in growmore and chicken pellets.

I took some pictures, 2 sides of the grape vine, 2 of 2 lots of toms and 1 of half og the Kiwi Vine with the berries on.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Overcast and windy today, but stayed dry and reasonably warm. Up to 19c.
Got a couple of jobs done. Both of which consisted of weeding, strimming, hedge cutting and mowing.

Great photos. Everything is looking good.
Jealous of your tomatoes, they are very even in size, and no cracks in sight.
Your watering system obviously works.

Pity you had to go to different hospitals for your tests, but at least OH's was in the morning, and yours was in the afternoon.
At least if she gets an op in November, she might be adequately convalesced by January, in time for your proposed trip?

Yes, that's a well known scam. If they can persuade you to install Team Viewer on your PC, then they can take it over and install key-logging software on it, so they can then harvest log-in details for banking sites etc.

Grass must be very resilient. I suppose the roots must go dormant when there's no moisture. It would die off eventually I would think. But all the lawns that I do are no almost back to normal. Just a few dry patches left on some of them, but they'll recover before long. And some have gone completely crazy, putting on stupid amounts of growth.

So Hardeep survives on CBB again?
Mind you, I thought Chloe would go, because she was just so bland.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Cool again today, 17c cloud before 12.00 sunny intervals then, sunny sfter 2pm. winds 11 to 15.

Found 4 more Figs ready so gave them to neighbour as she was in the garden.

We went to the butchers as o/h off today, just got pork pies, bacon ribs, prime rib beef, lamb noisettes, oak smoked bacon, ox tongue, pork sausage, black puddings and meatballs, lovely grub.

We had soft boiled eggs again, the egg boiling thing i have works great, perfect eggs, and a round of my seeded toast, yummy.

Have ordered another Kilo of the seeds for the bread, it makes such nice toast.

For tea decided to have the meat balls with Taglitelli it was in tomato sauce, not enough though, should have added more.

O/H has order the Sainsbury's shop online this week to get it set up for when she has an op, she won't be able to drive for 6 weeks.

The BIL should be here with his lad tomorrow to remove some tiles and battens on the roof and fit new under felt as some of the old stuff has disintegrated.

O/H passed the BMI test, just, this hospital is a private one but they do NHS work as well, probably better really.

One phone call saying it was about people using my Internet, they said in the end, to speak to BT press 1 to speak to (didn't hear) press 2, as if i would , they must be mad, it could have been anything, even a short cut to an 09 number, but they keep trying.

Yes, as if i would connect to a .com site, or even run a .exe file, not me, but a site to give them control of the PC, wow, i wonder how many fall for this scam.

Yes, grass is strange, but when you buy rolls they have very short roots.

Thought Chloe would go, but wanted Hardeep to.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
A nice day here really, although still a bit windy.
Sunny most of the day, and up to 21c this afternoon.
Got another couple of jobs done. Am up to date again, for the moment.

Good job your neighbour likes figs, a you've given her plenty of them.
Quite a haul of meaty products from the butchers.
That's a pity that you have to have work done on the roof. Maybe your BiL will give you a family discount?

Good idea to start getting prepared for when your OH has to give up driving for a while. Are you not allowed to drive now, with your eyesight?
That was lucky, that she was just under the BMI limit for the operation.

Yes, there are a lot of telephone scams around nowadays.
If it says "unavailable" or "withheld" or "international" on my caller display I don't answer the phone, but they can spoof it to look like a normal number, so I usually answer those.
A lot of calls start with an automatic voice saying
"We are calling to make you aware......"
No idea what they want me to be aware of, as I put the phone down at that point.

So the HMs are going to decide who goes on Friday?
Hopefully it won't be Hardeep in the bottom two, or I think he would be given his marching orders.
I'd probably like it to be Sally, Jermaine, Ben or Ryan that goes.

glad to hear the soup went down well with the visitors. Hardly seems worth all the housework/window cleaning effort you went to as they only stayed a few hours.  Still at least that means you won't need to do it for awhile now.

That is good that you are up to date workwise now.

Hicky

what great photos of your grapes and tomatoes. You have a wonderful crop there.  Glad your figs were so tasty. Your neighbour timed her visit to the garden well as you were able to pass some figs to her.

That's good your large seeded loaf went down well with your OH.

I reckon both you and OH deserved that nice home cooked brekkie after your hospital visits.

That is a relief for you both that she passed the BMI test so could go for the op. Hope they give her firm dates soon and as Emptybox says, hopefully if it is November, she should be good to go on hols.

A good idea to make use of the Sainsburys delivery when she is recovering. I am sure you will enjoy browsing and choosing the food online.

And hope your eye tests were ok.

These people are awful who keep ringing trying to scam people. Its such a shame as it is most likely to be elderly people who live alone who fall for it!

I heard a grass expert saying it is only surface grass that dies, that the roots in the soil stay very much alive, so there is never any need to water grass even when really dry, as, as soon as it rains, the roots will just come through again.

We had a nice couple of nights away. The day we went it poured up till we got to Hereford then eased. So we did manage a quick walk before it drizzled. Lucky the roads were quiet going as it was a Sunday. But it took us 6 hours (with a few stops) to get back yesterday as the roads were very busy. Luckily on the Monday, the rain did not last long, so we were able to take our little niece to Sea zoo, and she enjoyed a playing mini golf and in the playground. We bought her a "Frozen" bucket and spade set and my son and daughter helped her make a sandcastle in Beaumaris and fill her bucket again and again with seawater. Me and OH sat with our coats on and hoddies up over our heads as the wind was so cold. We didn't mind at all though as at least it was dry most of that day.

Been busy catching up with washing and food shopping today.

I had a butternut squash and cheese pasty for tea that I bought from a farm shop in Ludlow on way home.

Am enjoying CBB, what a rat that Jermaine is.

Wonder who will be up for nomination.

I guess Jermaine is sure to be one voted by the public?

Goodnight both xxx

M

Glad you enjoyed your time away Mollie, even though the weather wasn't ideal.

I guess littlies enjoy playing in the sand even when it's cold.

Sounds like it was a very long drive home.

Pity you had all the catching up of washing to do when you got back.

Yes, hopefully Jermaine will be one of those with very few votes to save, but there's no saying the other HMs would vote him out.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not too bad today, 18c some sunny intervals this afternoon, hardly a breath of wind.

BIL and lad came to do the roof, they did next door as well as the 2 are joined of course.

Got my washing done and dried, a good job done.

My new pans came, wow, they look so good, the 3 i'm throwing out are ProCook as well, but 2 are the black ones and 1 is the Ceramic 20cm one, almost new but everything sticks, useless.

If these don't last they will go back as i've had enough, with 25 years guarantee i might have a chance.

I have emptied another tub in the greenhouse, taken the tomato plant out, only a few toms left, got plenty of toms outside.

Had bacon and black pudding for brekkie and o/h did the bacon ribs for tea, so tasty.

Gave my neighbour a bag of Onions, have plenty for ourselves.

Mollie, Very pleased with all the fruit so far, will be able to show some pics of apples and pears soon.

I think i put too much yeast in the last loaf so will adjust, my new kilo of seeds came today as well.

Yes, o/h could do with a firm date, pity we have to wait so long, think this hospital is a Bupa one.

She has to have the prelim thingie first as well.

There are so many scams now you really need to be alert, very alert.

Never seen weeds die from bad weather, have you?

At least you had a couple of days away, weather always a problem, or can be, traffic another problem, and we can't control either.

Yes Jermain looks bad now, poor Chloe taken in by a rat.

Emptybox, Glad you are up to date with work, you can keep pace now.

Family discount, Ha Ha.

Not sure if i could drive or not, never driven her car as it hasn't got 4 wheel drive and a dash cams in so i wouldn't drive it anyway, not sure about my eyes, have cataracts as well.

On the scam thing, never take an notice of the number that comes up, they can choose any number they like, it's optional, i answer all calls now as hospitals etc use the 'withheld' thing, if it's a scam i will listen, thats how you can learn and warn others.

It will be interesting to see who gets nominated and who goes, a lot changes when the public pick the noms, and cruel to watch the HM's pick who goes.

Hicky

Hi both

Emptybox

did you take a day off work today as you are caught up?

Hicky

what did BIL  and son do to the roofs? And did they finish it in 1 day?

Glad to hear you are so pleased with your pans.

That's handy you got all you washing done and dried today, I did too, as it was so nice weather wise.

I'll look forwad to seeing your next set of photos soon when the fruit is ready.

Yes with bread making it does take a bit of trial and error. Daughter made some soda bread today, it was delicious.

here is the recipe she used...

http://paulhollywood.com/recipes/soda_bread/

It was still a bit gooey in the middle even though the 30 mins recomended cooking time was done, so she put it back in oven again.

If the hospital is BUPA does your OH have to pay for the room, or do NHS cover the bill because they use it for NHS patients? I hope she gets a firm date soon.

Too true, the weeds seem to do well whatever the weather!

Yes Jermaine treated Chloe awful and tonight we saw Roxanne treat Ryan awful! What a nasty weird woman she is.

A lovely day today, I actually got some time to read on my swingchair. I haven't used it much as the weather had been too hot to sit in the sun, so it was nice to do so today.

I went swimming with daughter whilst my friend did the hydro therapy. It does seem to help my knee problem. I have felt tired out after though as I had a lot of washing to sort after and vat to sort too. Thankfully son knows how to help with that now.

CBB will be interesting with the public vote.

Goodnight both. xx

M

Hi both.
Nice day here too, mostly because the wind had gone. Quite a lot of sunshine as well. Not particularly warm though.
Got a couple of jobs done.

Hicky. That was quick of your BiL doing the roof. Was it a simple job?
Glad your new pans came. Pity you have to throw almost new ones away though.
Hopefully the new ones will be properly non-stick. But you have the confidence of the 25 year guarantee if they are not.

I guess you could consult your doctor as to whether you should drive while your OH is out of action after her op.
Would be inconvenient if you had to rely on taxis for 6 weeks?

Mollie. I prefer to keep working, even though I'm caught up. But I can keep ticking over by only doing 2 or 3 jobs a day, and finishing in good time.
I hope to be able to take Saturday and Sunday off this week though.

That was good that your daughter made soda bread to paul Hollywood's recipe.
Glad the swimming seems to be doing your knee some good.
That's good that you've got son trained up to help with the VAT.

Really disgusted with Roxanne tonight. I used to like her, but she's lost my support now.
She completely exaggerated that incident in order to try to get Ryan thrown out.
Nasty deranged behaviour.

Evening Both.

Not bad today, 21c sunny intervals, light winds.

Had sausages for brekkie, and had baked spuds with lamb noisettes for tea, nice.

2 more pears fell, big as well, from the Williams tree, but pips white, tree could just be overloaded, one fell from the Bramley as well, will make another crumble Sunday so will thin the fruits down again.

Keep tidying the raised beds as stuff comes out, am making pickled beetroot again only with malt vinegar this time.

Sainsbury's delivered the shopping ok so we know that works ok.

O/H has a date for the pre-op thingie Oct 22.

On the grape vine the spiders have formed a wall across the front so no flies can get in, so funny, and these are big spiders that sit in the middle of the web, about 5 of them in a line.

The Kiwi Berries are getting pretty big, well delighted, had a few Raspberries off the Joan J canes as well, will dig them up when they finish fruiting as have to plant more November.

Mollie, Yes, the roof work was done in about 6 hours, but that was including next door as well, then they had a bit of work inside on top of the window area, it seems that these new double glazed windows should have some steel support inside the plastic frame, but these haven't so window can warp so he had to drill some screws into the ceiling area to give more support.

The new pans look the part, have used them, i had to condition then with oil like steel woks, certainly nothing sticks to them, not going to put them in the dishwasher as they clean so easy anyway, the only thing i can see that would need cleaning off is fat.

The soda bread looks good, would probably have to make the buttermilk though, i'll try anything, love trying stuff, as you know.

The NHS pay for everything, as far as i know, if i have steak dinners they might charge me.

Looking forward to CBB tonight, didn't even wake last night, mind you i was watching 24 hrs in A&E till after midnight.

Enjoying Ozy LI but 3 recording behind now.

Emptybox,  On the Roof they put up scaffold, took off 4 rows of tiles, from the bottom, took off the batons, fitted new felt, replace batons and then replaced the tiles, they are heavy concrete tiles and they had to keep moving the scaffold frame.

I don't think i will be driving her car, i like a big heavy 4 x 4 have only ever driven big cars, had a big Volvo it was like a tank and it kept me safe, if i don't feel safe i cant drive it, it's bad enough being a passenger, don't even like that, i will rely on taxi's, not a problem.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
A nice sunny day here. 21c and no wind.
Got another couple of jobs done. One grass cutting, and the other a big hedge cutting job.
At last the grass is dry again. It makes things so much easier.

That's good that your OH now has a date for her pre-op check thing.
That's clever of the spiders to make a wall of webs, to mop up all the flies attracted to your fruit.
That's great that all your fruit and veg are doing so well this year.

That's strange that your builder had to stop the double glazed windows from warping. You'd think they'd be designed better in the first place?
6 hours to do both houses was fairly good going.

You are funny about cars.
But if you are happy taking taxis, then that's probably the best option.

Glad Ben is out. Never liked him.
Plus it lets him see the truth about Roxy's nonsense.

hope you enjoy your weekend off work, well deserved now you are up to date.

Hope you get some nice weather, as I suspect you will want to do your own garden.

I am glad to see you gave up your support for Roxanne, I didn't like her from the beginning. What she did in the end was plain evil.

Wonder how she will try and twist it to look the victim now she has walked?

I don't understand who voted for her and kept her in last night.

Hicky

I bet your crumbles from home grown fruit are just the best.

That is good you know the Sainsburys delivery if fine for you and that your OH has a date for the pre-op now. I used to have Sainsburys deliveries when we lived further from the shops and I had no problem. If one item was unavailble, they always tried to match it and point out to me that it was a substitute so I could decide whether or not to take it.

Yuck at the big spiders, but I guess if they are doing the job of stopping the flies getting in, it is to the advantage of your grape crop.

They did well finishing the roof job in 6 hours.

For the soda bread, we bought the buttermilk ready made from asda. Wonder how difficult it would be to make your own? The bread did taste really good though.

I got a date of 21st Sept for my leg scan. So that isn't too bad a wait from when it was sent for.

Nice and warm again yesterday, so sat on swingchair and got all my washing dry.

Last night we went to the theatre to see the Crooners ...they were very funny,... slapstick...great singing and adlibbing. here is a link

https://grimsbyauditorium.org.uk/show/crooners/

I feel tired this morning as I stayed up late to watch CBB when we got home.

We are off to costco soon for a bit of shopping and hopefully plenty of free food samples we like, and will have lunch there after too.

Have a good day both xxx

M

Evening Both.

Pretty dull today, 21c cloud and light winds.

Had bacon, tom, black pudding and egg with toast for brekkie, just made a hot and sour soup for tea, with toast, you just add an egg, so i added a few egg noodles to the soup and it makes 600ml so that 2 portions.

O/H has got an Op date, Nov 20th i think.

I think we will get the shopping delivered now as no point in o/h walking around the shop for an hour for the sake of ÂĢ3.50 delivery.

I got o/h to get me a container of buttermilk so i can make some soda bread next week, got to make a new loaf tomorrow anyway as SIL coming for brekkie Monday morning, going to make another apple crumble, will take off some more Bramley's for it tomorrow.

Have got a nice piece of Ribeye beef for a roast dinner tomorrow, will make it as o/h works 10 to 2pm.

Just had some of a pear that fell, it is a Williams, gave a slice to o/h, she said that is the same as the pear halves you get in a tin of pears, i agreed, you couldn't mistake the taste and the texture, got plenty as well.

Mollie, Yes, crumble using Bramley apples can't be beat.

I don't mind the spiders, must be hundreds in the garden, no problem.

It's easy enough to make buttermilk but you need whole cream milk, i got 2 cartons of red top goats milk this week, i like it.

Glad you got a date for your leg scan, you know where you are now, everything takes so much time these days.

Loving CBB, am a bit behind with Oz LI, we have SCD soon and the singing one X-Factor.

Yes, the crooners looks good, hope it didn't finish too late.

Emptybox, Yes, glad the grass is drying for you, not nice when it's wet.

I suppose if you have small width windows then the pve frame is strong but these are almost the width of the room so the frame won't have the strength without internal steel support, which they don't have.

But as they say, you get what you pay for.

I like a car i'm driving to be big enough and strong enough to absorb the impact of being hit by something big, most Volvo's are built with safety in mind, like Range Rover, i would have one of those, o/h doesn't like big cars, think she thinks she couldn't control/park it, i would get the biggest possible.

Ben was a strange feller, like an energiser advert.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

hope you enjoyed your day off today. Enjoy your sphag bol and beer.

Hicky

that is good your OH has a firm date now. Not a bad date really as she has plenty of time before both your hols and Christmas to get over it. As you say it is not worth the time and effort of her getting the shopping if it is only ÂĢ3.50 delivery charge. Do they still vary delivery charges depending on which day of the week you get the delivery to come?

Got some nice food samples at costco today, eg lentil curry, cheese and pickle, fresh bread rolls. Then later we had our usual lunch there.

Been cloudy here today but very warm, our car  showed 25c today.

Managed to do shopping in costco, but then got home and was too tired after going out last night to do any washing today,.... especially as I had  a vodka and a few glasses of wine, washed down with choccy last night! . (but oh dear I hadn't eaten lunch or tea), so felt a bit rough today. Serve me right I guess.

X factor back at last! Hooray...

that means not long to Christmas....

Costco has Christmas stuff, I saw someone buy a giant Father Christmas. I managed to resist the Christmas chocs and biccies though.

M

Evening both.

Dull here but quite warm.

As you predicted Mollie I did some work in my own garden. I dug my first potatoes, cut my lawn and cut my own hedge. Or at least I cut my side of the hedge, the farm does the other side and the top.

Mollie. That's good that you've now got a date for your leg scan. It's not long away either.

Glad you enjoyed the Theatre. Don't know where you find all these funny acts to go and see?

Pity you felt a bit rough after though.

Be strong. Keep avoiding the Christmas stuff. Why would anyone want to buy a giant Father Christmas?

Hicky. Glad your OH has her op date. Must be quite daunting, but better to get it over with.

Yes good idea to get online deliveries if it's only ÂĢ3.50 extra.

Your hot and sour soup sounds good.

Hope your soda bread turns out OK.

Perhaps you could persuade your OH to buy a tank, so you can feel safe on the road.

Watched some of X Factor. Didn't realise it was going to be on so missed the first part of it.

Now watching CBB. Glad Roxy's lies are unravelling.

I voted for her to stay on the phone app on Wednesday, and of course this incident wasn't aired till Thursday, so by then it was too late to change my vote.

Kirstie is my favourite, but I knew she would be safe, and I thought Roxy would be in danger.

I did think she was OK. She seemed like a funny northern girl in the beginning. Hadn't seen her in anything previously.

Evening Both.

Not too bad today 21c but just cloud, light wind.

Quite busy really, just had a round of toast and mamalade for brekkie as i was making a roast dinner for 2pm when o/h gets in.

Roasted the Ribeye Beef, cabbage, cauliflower and carrots, with mash and gravy, the beef was beautiful, used the temperature probe, gets it perfect.

Also made an apple crumble, took a few more Bramley's off, haven't had any yet.

Making a loaf tonight so SIL can have her brekkie in the morning when she pops in on her way to MIL's.

Did a bit of repositioning of the vine supports in the greenhouse, trying to decide the level to run the 2 levels of the vine Cordons that i want to train on 2 sides and the back.

Have a plum tree that the fruit is just about ripe, hop they don't get attacked, but with being a dark colour only wasps might attack, they can smell them.

Did i say i had to net 1 apple tree as the birds i think are pecking the apples.

I'm glad we have no squirrels this year.

Next door have a hanging, what looks like a fly trap thing, it's quite big, looks like it holds half a gallon of liquid and a top the the flies get get into a chamber, at the moment the dead flies are abut 2 cm deep, some are flying around inside but can't get back out, will ask what it is, very efficient anyway.

Mollie, Yes, great o/h having a date, there is a 6 week recovery though.

I don't know about charges for the shopping and days, not too bothered.

You could eat well at Costco just by going around and round the free samples.

Saw some of X-Factor, not keen on a couple of the judges.

Good of you to resist the chocs and biccies.

Emptybox, Love the hot and sour soup, been having it for many years, sometimes it's rather hot when you get it out.

I'm confused why people say Ryan didn't do anything to Roxanne, he hit her about 5 times in the ribs, she said hey, woman beater, that hurt, he said, oh sorry did it, Ben saw the bruise on her ribs.

Emptybox

sounds like you were busy around your own garden on your day off. Was it a take it easy day today?

Hicky

I bet your SIL will enjoy your brekkie of home made bread. Does she get some crumble too?

What a nuisance the birds are pecking the applies, hope your plums stay safe.

As you are only allowed one free food sample each, I would need a disguise to go round more than once. (that is certainly a tempted idea though).

I am glad Roxanne left, she was a real nasty piece of work making out Ryan deliberately assualted her. Ben said when he was evicted that she mugged him off about this. He told Emma when he saw the actual video of what happened, she had not been truthful with him about Ryan punching her agressively.

I am not looking forward to seeing her interview with Emma tomorrow. I predict a full actress mode sob story.

Good to see them having fun anyway on tonights episode now she is out of the way.

It has been hot again here today, around 25c. Got my washing dried nicely. Went to HOmebase with OH for some top soil for garden.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening both.
A warm day here, up to 21c. Some sunshine, but mostly cloudy.
Just went for my paper this morning and Lidl this afternoon. Did a pile of ironing as well.

Hicky. Glad your roast turned out well.
Hope the wasps don't go for your plums.
Pity the birds are going for the apples, but at least no pesky squirrels this time.

The video shows Ryan shadow boxing around Roxy. He probably only made contact lightly a couple of times if that. You can see she was perfectly happy afterwards, until she got it into her head that she could exploit the situation.
If there were any bruises to be seen you can be sure she'd have shown them off to everybody, BB included.
I liked her before this, but that was just totally manipulative behaviour.

Mollie. Glad it was warm there for you.
Is your OH going to be making some flower beds?
Didn't realise that Roxy was going to get an interview? It'll be interesting to see what she has to say.

Watched Fake or Fortune tonight. Then Bodyguard then CBB on +1.
Decided not to bother with X factor. I'll watch it on Saturdays, but not keen on the judging panel. I can see why Robbie Williams is there, but why his wife?
And why is there a spotty teenager sitting between her and Simon? Who's he supposed to be?

Evening Both. :

Cool today, 17c cloudy with light rain early on, winds of 12 to 15.

Didn't do a lot today, SIL came, we all sat and ate toasted bread with butter and my marmalade, my bread and marmalade, not making butter.

Gave her a jar of pickled beetroot to take home, she had a wander around the garden, had a plum and a couple of raspberries.

I had another pear today as it fell off, took one off for o/h before it fell off.

One of the apple branches broke, it was hanging  by some live section so strapped it up, bound it with grafting wax and grafting tape then supported the branch with a bamboo cane, then added support to take the weight off the branch.

Had one of my frozen beef curries with rice for tea, quick and easy, checked what was in the garage freezer, lots of beef for curries.

The Kiwi berries are getting big, delighted.

Have seen more recipes for soda bread, didn't realise so many options, will make it when this loaf runs out.

O/H been ordering slippers and bed gear for hospital, i think with it not being a direct NHS one they like you up and dressed more.

Mollie, I didn't offer SIL any crumble, forgot anyway.

They seem to be fussy eaters, the birds, a few trees have very red apples on but they haven't touched them.

I'm very confused with the Roxanne / Ryan incident, i saw him fast 2 fish punching her side, she said ey woman beater, that hurt, he said sorry did it, she showed Ben the bruises, later Ryan said his ring could have caught her ribs.

Wonder who will go tonight, Hardeep or Jamain?

Emptybox, The birds seem to be selective, i asked the vine specialist about the Kiwi Berries and the birds, he said with them staying green they should be ok.

I know you say Ryan was shadow boxing, but it was against Roxanne's ribs, otherwise she wouldn't have said that hurt, and he said oh, didn't mean to hurt you.

She did show the bruise to Ben he said he saw it.

She had nothing to gain by saying it hurt, but with everyone believing Ryan she didn't stand a chance.

Hope she doesn't backtrack, unless she has been advised to but she will lose ÂĢ500,000 of more by leaving.

I'm only going by what it shows in the video, and what she said and what he said, that can't be disputed as it's on video.

Hope Hardeep goes tonight in the surprise eviction, back door maybe.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Raining all day here so useless for work.
Cold too. Only up to 10c.
Went into town to get my prescription and some other stuff, including fuel for the van.

That's great that you were able to give your SiL your own bread and marmalade.
Perhaps you should think about making butter? It's pretty easy, my Aunt used to make it.
Pity one of your apple tree branches broke. I hope it survives, with the help of your first aid.

Saw Roxanne being interviewed on the Jeremy Vine show this morning.
She offered Ryan and his family a massive apology, and said she'd been completely mistaken in thinking he had hurt her deliberately.
I think she'd have to give up her fee anyway, because she walked out? Think she was rumoured to be getting ÂĢ75,000 for doing CBB?
We'll also see her being interviewed by Emma tonight.

The video doesn't really make it clear whether Ryan made contact with her at all. I think he accepted that he must have caught her at least once. But she didn't flinch at all, so I doubt it was even sore.

Hope it's Jermaine that goes tonight. Although I think Hardeep is fed up of being there now, and really wants to go.

Emptybox

pity the weather meant you could not work. At least it meant you got round to collecting your prescription.

Eh you!!!! That spotty teenager you mention is no other than the highly sucessful Louis from 1D. I think he is a great judge especially after having gone through the whole process himself, and I think he has been so nice to the auditionees, especially the guy from Liverpool. I do agree about the woman one though.

Hicky

hope your apple branch will be ok after your fix job.

I bet you will enjoy your soda bread, we certainly enjoyed daughters. She bought some more butter milk, so she can make it again.

Sounds like you are going to be sucessful with your kiwi fruit.

How interesting the birds have not gone for the red apples, wonder why?

Yes I am sure your OH will be busy getting comfortable and clothes suitable for hospital now she has a date.

Roxanne is a liar and has admitted it on Jeremy Vine. I agree with Emptybox , she didn't even flinch at the time of the incident.

She even said he deliberately assualted her, which he plainly did not. Ryan was just jumping around playing just like Roxanne did whilst boxing with Ben after.

She also has history of this type of thing as verified by quite a few people.

Good riddance, she doesn't deserve the air time she is getting.

I too hope Jermaine goes tonight. Not keen on Hardeep but think he is more interesting. (even though annoying!)...

Not a nice day today, rain most of the day.

Went with son to register at Uni, took a couple of hours, endless forms, so treated ourselves to the carvary after. Delicious it was.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Emptybox.

Came back on as i forgot to say, got 2 letters today, one from the eye consultant, copy to me as it was going to my doctor, it says my eyes are stable, both the same and scans show no further injections needed at present, the second letter was a new appointment for an eye test, i assume.

Just had the rest of the apple crumble as oh didn't have it.

Thats no good, if it rains all day for you thats the work stopped, bad news.

Yes, hoping the branch that broke will survive, one broke last year and i couldn't save it, but the stump has grown a new branch.

I was watching another video on growing grapes for desert and it says only leave 1 bunch per lateral, the 2 bunches is for making wine.

I don't know if Ryan hurt Roxanne deliberately, only he know that, but we know he hurt her as she told him after he hit her, he said it might have been his ring that hit a rib.

She showed the bruise on her ribs to Ben, he said so.

I hope Hardeep goes, he's not nice at all, and the HM's sure want him out, they have been trying since he went in.

Hicky

Hicky

that is very good news that your eyes are stable and no injections needed for now.

I have popped back in because I got all ready to watch the eviction at 10.30 then realised it is not on till after 11pm! How annoying.

Also wanted to say, how brilliant I thought Emma was interviewing Roxanne. So much better than that awful Jeremy Vine one. Emma acted professional but didn't let Roxanne get away with her well rehearsed sob story, and Emma even mentioned how she had done the same in the past. Brilliaint how Emma ended the interview when the crocodile tears started. That girl needs to learn it is evil to try and destroy someone elses life.

Nearly time for eviction results now.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi again both.

Mollie. I thought you would defend Louis.
Pity you got the rain as well.
Must have been boring having to fill in all those uni forms.
I agree that Emma did better than I expected in her interview with Roxanne.

Hicky. That's good that your macular degeneration is stable, and you don't need more injections.

Glad that it was Jermaine that went, although I must admit that Hardeep is getting on my nerves now.

Evening Both.

it said 17c with cloud all day but it was 20c here and sunny most of the day, to my delight, i could here the vines saying, thank you.

Didn't do a lot, just had bacon on toast for brekkie, had crackers with tongue and tomato with pickle.

Not a lot to do in the greenhouse i was just planning which new shoot to train where.

Pity Hardeep stayed last night, the HM's won't be happy about that, it seemed to me that it had been planned in advance or it would never have been 4 to 4 votes would it.

A bit annoyed that Roxanne has to take all the flak, she isn't the accused, thought it was Ryan that hit her, it wasn't Roxanne that hit him, why is she under interrogation and he isn't,

She called him a woman beater after he hit her, but thats what came into her head, nothing wrong with that, what was she guilty of, she thought he had done it on purpose, well he did, he has never even spoken to her because he didn't like her, he never liked her before they went in the house, to me he was saying with that action, this is what i would like to do to you, and i think thats what she thought, how could she think anything else, he could have done that to sally, she was close, but know, why Roxanne, unless he was jealous of Ben being close to her, i think he felt left out being the one that already knew her.

I never saw Ryan giving Roxanne a cuddle, not even after he punched her, and the next day he isolated himself completely, was that what an innocent man does, don't think so, he was trying to work out how he can get out of this mess, so by blaming her he didn't just that, got them all on his side even the public, i feel awful for Roxanne taking all the flak when the accused is sitting back laughing at them all as he has got off scot free, Ben spent 2 weeks teaching him how to box so he tried it out on her.

Mollie, Yes, they put the eviction on later to save giving the live feed on it's own.

Emma was just playing out a well rehearsed  script that would have been compiled by BB and it's intention was to clear BB of failing in their duty of care, and so by blaming Roxanne, not sure what for but it means the fact he hit her can now rest under the table, mind you, i don't think this is the end of it.

Emptybox, I still have to go for check ups on my eyes to the same place, not sure how long for, the next one on Oct 2nd will be the 3rd since the injections.

Can't work out Hardeep, he went in on a mission, race and un-equality but it has just annoyed them all.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Glad you got better weather than expected.
This morning was overcast and drizzly. I was supposed to be doing a big hedge cutting job but I felt my own hedge and it was still soaking wet from the rain yesterday and overnight. It would have killed my hedge cutter to try to cut it.

I did go out this afternoon to do a mowing job, as it brightened up a bit, but the grass was still damp, and it only got to 13c at most.

Pity you've still got to have eye check-ups, but they're bound to be better than the injections?

We'll have to agree to disagree about Roxanne.
I can't see any way she was genuinely hurt by any of Ryan's 'punches'. They were as light as a feather.
She's either very damaged and blew the whole thing up in her head, and wrongly imagined that she was in some kind of danger from him, or she's very devious and saw the minor incident as an opportunity to try to get him ejected.
I'll let you decide which.

We saw her the next day in a crop top, showing off her midriff, so if she had any bruises, I'm sure someone would have commented.
I've no idea if she showed Ben any 'bruises' or not? But I wouldn't put it past her to use a bit of make-up, or perhaps she bruises very easily?

Great British Bake Off, then CBB tonight.

yes you are dead right about me defending Louis. Remember ....(I know I am going to make you jeolous now).... I have even seen him in the flesh, you know! (but I have to admit, he was so far away in the stadium,he was like a dot).

You certainly don't want the expense of a deaded hedge cutter, so best to avoid wet hedges. Hope it dries up soon so you can get that big hedge job done.

Hicky

I guess it is a good thing they are not leaving you too long for eye check ups.

That is good you got the weather to please your vines.  Sun was sadly lacking here today, but can't complain as at least it was dry and warm.

Yes Hardeep is a very odd one... but I have to admit he is so distastfull, I find it funny, especially how he irriates them all so much by  eg going round topless whilst cooking!  (I'd hate to live with him though!). I was glad to see the back of Jermaine.

I completely agree with Emptybox about Roxanne. I believe what many people who knew her from working with her,(even her managers) said about her. Plus  Jermaine (and Ben) could not believe the minor playfull incident they  saw played back to them was the same one Roxanne had been describing to them as a deliberate assault. I believe all the people who worked on Corrie with Ryan when they say what a nice guy he is too.

Been busy today trying to help son sort his uni finance out, and went to aqua aerobics whilst my friend did hydro therapy. Luckily daughter came too as we needed help with bags and sorting the lockers out. My friend has 2 crutches, so it is especially hard for her but the therapy in water is good for her. The only trouble is I feel starving when I have been in the swimming pool, so have to control my eating!

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi Mollie.

Forgot you'd been to see One Direction.

I wouldn't like to have to sort out uni finances nowadays. Much easier in my day, when I got a grant.

Hopefully these Aqua Aerobics will be doing you good.

I didn't like the way Hardeep was battering that chicken into submission, but I think that's maybe how you do spatchcock? Hicky'll know.

emptybox

Evening Both.

17c today, sunny intervals, slight wind.

Quite a dramatic day, o/h suggested we get a few of the jobs that are outstanding done, such as, she needs a dentist letter, i had a cheque for the bank, i needed a haircut and we were going to go for brekkie.

Well, we went to her dentist to get an appointment, i stayed in the car listening to the radio, then we went to the Barbers, o/h stayed in the car, had 3 in front and the girl was on her own, anyway, got in the car, battery wouldn't start car, I had told her i January that it needed a battery when the car wouldn't start after our holiday, after many phone calls and idea's she contacted Halfords to see if they had a battery, they did, she rang relations till one answered, one of her brothers, he left what he was doing, half an hour away and came to get the car going, he carries jump leads, he's really a fisherman/ tug captain as well, but he's on a welding job, anyway, that sorted we went to Halfords, they fitted the battery, in the meantime i got a sausage batch from the butty wagon as it's all by B&Q, then we went to west Kirby, the cheque was from the bank some money they had overcharged on my old business account, they also set up the mobile app to see the accounts from my mobile, mean while o/h got some bacon bones from a butches, which we have just had for tea.

O/H picked all the plums from the last plum tree to fruit, big as well, not quite ripe but can't take a chance leaving them on the tree.

Mollie, I've had 2 eye checks since the injections so do expect some more to check it stays stable.

I didn't watch CBB last night, not much interested in who is left and don't watch bots.

As far as Roxanne, i can only go by what i saw and heard, she said, "hey woman beater" after he hit her, she then said "that hurt", Ryan said "Sorry did it", now if he hadn't hit her he would have given her a cuddle and said i didn't touch you, in the DR he sid his ring might have caught her. and his actions and the way he acted later and the next day were not the actions of an innocent man, if he hadn't hit her he surely he would have gone to see her, but he kept away, i find it strange that the victim is interrogated and the accused isn't, noon has asked why he did that to her and not to sally who was by her, or what his motive was.

You have been busy then with sons finances and aqua stuff, doing all that will make you hungry.

Emptybox, The weather controls your business, it really can effect you so much.

To do these eye test they give me drops that sting, the problem is it takes about 2 or 3 hours before you can see properly again as your sight becomes blurred, it is so they can take pictures of the back of the eye.

I no way see the Roxanne incident as a way to get Ryan evicted, she was under the impression that he didn't like her and i saw the bunch bag scene as a way of saying to her, this is what i would like to do to you, didn't see him do it to anyone else, and they were all saying she was after air time which is absolute rubbish as she is always so lively but they don't know that, i think Nick said, if she's like this in the real world i will apologise to her.

Ben said she had shown her a bruise, but she had been in a crash before she went in, not sure when.

As far as i know to spatchcock a chicken you cut the backbone out with meat scissors then take out the wishbone, you then open out the 2 sides breast side down and give a bang on the breast bone to flatten it all, thats all you do, to make chicken breast thinner, same as meat you can hammer it to some degree, but not for spachcock, this way it cooks a lot quicker.

Hicky

Hi both xxx

Emptybox

Hope it kept dry enough for you to get some work done. Did you get to do that hedge cut today or was it still too damp?

Yes those were the good days for young people when uni fees were paid and grants given out. Now all students have are huge life time debts with an interest charge of 6%. We have paid part of son's fees on our credit card, and will pay the rest on 2 installments, but it is not easy for us. We are lucky in Wales as the government pay part too. But due to cut backs, this is the last year they will do it, so son was lucky  we could do it like this. I believe there are still no fees in Scotland. I wish Corbyn could get in, so we can go back to giving all the young, not just the rich, a chance of debt free education instead of debts.

I have felt tired and achy today, so think the aqua aerobics will take some getting used to. You would probably have no trouble keeping up as due to your physical job, you are very physically fit.

Hicky

gosh that was a bit of a chaotic day for you. Lucky your OH was able to get a relative out to help out. Similiar happened to us not long ago on the way to Birmingham, because we had an old battery. So we had a to pay a fortune to AA to come out to resuce us, as we were not lucky enough to have a relative around. But like you, in the end we got one from halfords.

It must of been like old days for you with the sausage batch from the B and Q butty van. Bet you enjoyed that.

Those eye tests sound horrid, as it is not nice not being able to see for so long after. Must be so boring.

Helped daughter register for her last Uni course, so it was out with the credit card again! Dreading the bill next month. Went to cardiff to get a few make up things from boots, then stopped at costco to get some food shopping and a few free food samples.

Looking forward to CBB. Wonder what method Hardeep will do to annoy them tonight?

Have a good evening both xxx
