so glad you at last have the good weather.  At least you should of caught up well now workwise.

Well done fitting and getting that switch working. Saves a visit from the landlady now.

I too watched Cruising. I really enjoy this series with Jane. Looking forward to seeing next weeks in New Zealand and Lord of the Rings stuff.

Hicky

it is so annoying when they take a parcel away for you to collect because you are out, and double annoying that you had to get a taxi to collect. Shame he didn't leave it in the porch. Sometimes here they leave it with a neigbhour which is much easier than having to fetch it.

Your new breadmaker certainly arrived quickly. Pity the cup was broken. Hope you are pleased when you start using it.

That is good you perfected the spring rolls in the end.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon viewing at the auction. So much interesting stuff. I love to look at old household nick naks they have and route through the big boxes of clothes. I am currently wearing a Versace t shirt OH found at the bottom of a box, along with a solid silver set of cutlery. T shirt is a lovely fit.

Today went to costco to stock up. Plenty of free food samples again, so can't complain. Had jacket potato with beans/cheese for ÂĢ1.50 again, delicious.

I had toasted bagel, with cream cheese and an avocado for tea, delicious.

Not much on tv tonight.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.
Another gorgeous sunny day here. Up to 20 degrees at least.
Got a lot done. A lot of strimming and mowing.

Hicky. That's good that you were able to do the fixings on the gazebo.
Your spring rolls sound good.
Ah, I see what you mean by a paint on wrapper now.

Bit of a blow, the taxi costing more than the strimmer cord.
It would be more economical for me to get 100m of it as well I suppose, but I tend to get it in 15m packs because they fit through the letterbox and don't take up too much space in the van. Usually lasts me a couple of months anyway.

I usually get yellow stuff with a round profile, but the seller only had square cord left in the 2.4mm size that i need. Doesn't make much difference to the strimming in my experience TBH.

Yes, I should just have said that I only needed to connect the two red wires to the new switch ( well there were actually 3 red wires, but two were twisted together, so they went into the same terminal on the switch. I left the green and black wires connected to the old ceiling rose.
You can tell the new switch is a cheapo by the loud clunk that it makes, but it was only ÂĢ2.99 so easily replaceable if necessary.

Mollie. Sometimes my postie leaves parcels with the neighbours as well, but I think I've got him trained to leave them in the greenhouse now. Mind you, not sure I'd want anything of value left in there?

Sounds like you had great fun at the auction again.
I can just picture you wearing your Versace T-shirt and your solid silver set of cutlery. Do You wear them on a chain round your neck?

No, not much on tV tonight. I was watching the stuff on CH5 about Tutankhamun.

Evening Both.

Another nice day here, 23c sunny intervals and light  5 to 8 winds.

Got a few jobs done, o/h was off today and wanted to staart with a cup of tea in bed, so good old me asked if she would like a breakfast, well, thats an idea she said, we have sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and eggs and put in the oven rolls which will be nice, so obviously i cooked for 2, she enjoyed it, wow.

I decided to try and add another timer computer onto the existing system as the back half of the garden has 2 pipes from the garage so thought it might be a good idea, all i had to do was check which tubs etc was on which pipe, so i put the system in manual override and checked, to my surprise only the greenhouse was on one of the pipes on it's own but when i looked for other outlets on that pipe i couldn't fined any, oh dear, with all the rest of the back section being on one pipe i had to split the usage so at the point were the 2 pipes pass and 1 goes to the greenhouse i uncovered the pipes from under the slate, i then cut pipes and added a tee piece and swapped the pipe that feeds the back wall tubs and added them to the greenhouse pipe, checked all was ok then added the extra timer into the garage by rearranging the pipework, now i can have 1/3rd on one computer, 2nd 3rd on another and the last 3rd, if too many outlets are on 1 system the pressure drops on the others, so 1 system will start at 9am, 2nd at 9.15 and third at 9.30.

In the meantime i had collected the ingredients for a chocolate cake, the recipe was the one o/h showed me when i made the last one, but this breadmaker with let you do what you want as it has a double paddle and a horizontal pan unit so most recipes with work as they are very unlikely to be too large for this one.

The cake is very nice, just got to get o/h to try it now, but it tastes fine to me.

For tea we had a BBQ with Sweetcorn half cobs, steak Burgers and onions.

Will have to make up more Spring Rolls to use what was left of the filling from last night, will have to freeze them though.

Have enough of the ingredients to make another big batch as well, will have to get more wrappers though.

Mollie, I think they will only leave the parcel in the porch if they have had permission, which of course he wouldn't have as he was standing in.

I mended the breadmaker cup with magic tape on the outside, but they are a standard size, i have ordered some in variable sizes to save using dishes.

Hope you get some good stuff in the auction, and glad you got food at Costco, thats such a good price.

Emptybox, I get the 2.4mm line because i have Grapple tension units for the vine strainers and they take up to 2.4mm cord.

Yes, the 2 red wires twisted together at the switch are lives, 1 in and 1 out to the next room, the other wire that is on it's own is the switchwire going to the light position, these days it has to be identified to show it is live when the switch is turned on.

F1 race from Canada on at 10.40pm, what a time and it's not live.

Oh dear, just read what I wrote and it does, of course, sound like I was saying I was wearing Versace and silver cutlery.

My family (especially daughter) are always telling me i also talk in mixed up rubbish.

OH just switches off when I woffle half the time or has selective hearing when I speak rubbish.   (poor thing is deaf in one ear though, so now I am never sure if he hasn't heard me or he's just switched off).

that's good you got the good weather, so managed to get a lot done.

At a cost of only ÂĢ2.99, I think a bit of a clunk is a fair pay off. Let's hope the switch lasts well now.

Yes that is always a risk that if we arrange for deliveries to be put somewhere, they could go missing. We get them to leave in our big plastic container we store the bin bags in, on the drive.

Hicky

how nice for you to treat OH to a nice cooked brekkie on her day off. Nice for her too to have a day off whilst the weather was so good.

Sounds like sorting out the pipes has kept you busy.

Well done on making a nice tasty choccy cake.

Watched Antiques Road show, but it was boring, just stuff about women's lib.

Then watched Love Island, that was quite interesting tonight.

Evening both.
Nice start to the day, very sunny. Then just as i was cutting my grass, the black clouds rolled in and it started to thunder. However the rain didn't last long, and it was back to sunshine for my trip to Lidl this afternoon.

Hicky. That was nice that your OH appreciated your brekkie in bed efforts. Hope she does the same for your latest chocolate cake.
Rather you than me having to work out your complicated watering system. But I know you love tinkering with it.

Mollie. You don't always talk in mixed up rubbish. You make sense....sometimes.

I watched Antiques Roadshow as well, but as you say, it was a bit boring.
I then watched Poldark, for the first time in a few years. I had watched the first series, but then none of the others.
Must say, apart from there being a few children running around, almost nothing else seems to have changed; including the costumes.

Evening Both.

19c today, sunny intervals, a nice day, a slight breeze of 11 to 15.

Had bacon and toms on toast for brekkie.

Have started the next session of feeding all the trees etc.

Did i tell you that the plastic cup measure that came with the new breadmaker was broken inside the packing inside the bread pan, well, i had rang them when i unpacked it and they said they would send me another, a parcel came this morning, a bit bigger than i was expecting, and guess what, it wasn't the little plastic cup measure, it was a new bread pan, the whole unit that makes the bread/cake, flabbergasterised i rang them, they were very sorry and will send the cup, i asked about the brean pan (they cost a lot), they said keep it as a spare part.

Have ordered my next prescription, will be ready tomorrow, this surgery are so quick, and i saw on the web that Sainsbury's sell frozen square spring roll wrappers, so want some of those, also need icing sugar.

I used some more of the Rice paper wrappers to finish the spring roll mixture i made, it made 11, have frozen them for another day.

For tea i had crisp-bread, with shrimps, toms, cheese and spiced meats with mayo and butter.

tested the new 3 section watering system this morning, system 1 has 10 spray heads, system 2 has 29 spray heads, which includes the raised beds, system 3 has 14 spray heads including the bug hotel roof garden.

Mollie, After offering o/h some of the cake she gave her verdict, showing me the side of the cake and telling me that it was overbaked, showing 2 lines of doneness, of course with my eye's it's not so obvious, maybe it was done when the machine beeped to tell me it was done, but when i looked in it didn't look cooked, i did the skewer test but wasn't convinced and set it for another hour, was going to open the lid early but didn't want it to drop in the middle, anyway, o/h has told me how to test it, and on the web they suggest the digital temperature probe, a reading of 98.9c is done.

It's the Antiques Road Trip i watch, and Put your money were your mouth is.

Love Love Island, and watched the Aftershow last night, only on a  Sunday, good though, the ones that leave are on it, they leave on a Friday and on the show Sunday, think it's called Aftersun, or something.

Emptybox, I'll get the cake right before long, also can't wait to make some bread, and this can make a big loaf of 1500g, it also does 1000g and 1250g.

When i compare my watering system's complexity to writing a 150 pages of code for a special type of material handling lift carrying car doors in Germany, the watering seems rather simple.

hope the rain kept away so you could get some work done today?

Are you getting used to shopping in Lidl now? Or is it still smelly? The main thing I like about Lidl is the prices. But the family think their mac cheese is the best. And the bunny loves their lettuce, and the doggie their chicken. I am really enjoying their strawberries right now too.

Glad to hear I make sense (sometimes).

Hicky

well what a good mistake for you, on behalf of the breadmaker company that you receive an expensive spare part you can keep.

That is a bit of a relief for you to know that your new surgery is so quick with your prescriptions.

Your watering system is certainly extensive. But I think you will need it now as I can see the grass drying out already round here, as it has been so hot and dry recently.

Pity your OH said the cake was overbaked, but at least you know how to check it next time. Practice makes perfect so they say.

It is handy your new bread maker makes larger loaves as we found the loaves ours made a bit small.

Really hot and sunny again today.

Went to Cardiff for most of the day, as the shops are nice and air conditioned. So from Primark, I bought some nices sandals with glitter and a bow, and flowery trousers (very popular this summer), and a flowery top, and a stripy top. Got the boys some stuff too, and daughter got herself some clothes too. Very good value in Primark.

Watched Corrie, then Love Island. Enjoying Love Island. The girls must be mad not being interested in Alex...., he is the best catch there.... seems kind and intelligent, and of course has a well paying job in a caring profession.

Watching 24 hours in Police Custody, a really good series. Can't believe it is all true real life. Anyone else watch it? I think you would enjoy it.

Goodnight both xxx

Hi both.
Not as nice here today. Cloudy and cool with drizzly rain at times. No more than 15 degrees.
Got a big grass cutting job done anyway, but grass a bit damp.
Also went into town to pick up my prescription and get fuel for the mowers.

Hicky. That was good the bread maker people sent you a whole new pan instead of just a cup.
Yes, I guess after having written complicated computer code, that working out your watering system is a doddle?
Pity OH still wasn't satisfied with your latest cake attempt.

Mollie. I'm keen on the Lidl prices, but not on the shopping experience really.
There's some good stuff in there, but I find a lot of the fruit and veg doesn't last as long as the Sainsburys stuff for whatever reason.
I did buy some nice raspberries there yesterday though.

Sounds like you got some more colourful bargain clothes from Primark.
I suspect you would have bought the flowery trousers even if they weren't particularly popular this summer?

I watch 24 Hrs in Police Custody as well. Yes real life can be as strange as fiction.

Evening Both.

Nice today, cooler, more cloud, 19c but sunny intervals, light winds at 6 to 12.

Just had bacon and tom on toast for brekkie, o/h went to her sisters, i got a taxi to Sainsbury's for a few items, also to pick up my meds, i was looking for the frozen RAJ spring roll wrappers, but, bad luck, they are have them in shops with Asian customers, so had to get Filo pastry sheets.

Made a bowl of Samosa filling with potatoes and veg, chilli etc with some cashew nuts and spices.

Cut a strip off the wad of sheets with kitchen scissors, but had an awful job making the Samosa's, just made 8, will try tomorrow with a square piece, couldn't work out how to do it right with the strip, anyway, just checked my model pieces and they work fine, must look into this tomorrow.

Anyway, the 8 i made are fine, very tasty.

I picked up more Pickle, icing sugar, granulated sugar, have iced some of the cake, got a couple of jars of Madras paste, more lemons as i fancy another cake, but must make the zest and freeze it.

Am carrying on feeding the trees, am over half way there, just 8 to do, all growing well, have to keep an eye on the vine as it want to grow secondary shoots from the leaf axis, only allow it 2 leaves, am amazed at the bunches, of course they haven't flowered yet, the Kiwi is coming into flower, have got a lot of the shoots down horizontal as they are so long they can't go upward, some to go, have to be careful as the shoots want to twine round stuff which i don't want.

Mollie, I would have sent the spare bread pan back if they wanted me too, but maybe they don't accept things like that back, i will store it anyway.

Only 1 problem with the pharmacy, the computers had crashed so she couldn't let me have the inhaler as she couldn't print the label.

Yes, i'm pleased with the watering system changes, instead of the 13mm black plastic watering pipe i can use the yellow non crush hosepipe which works fine and is best used in the ground.

Yes, this bread machine being bigger and with double paddles i am pretty sure i can put any recipe in and make it without worrying it will overflow.

I agree with you about Alex, you would think he would be scooped up straight away, they probably want a more rough type.

No, i don't really fancy 24hrs in police custody, not my thing.

Emptybox, Yes, i used to write the programs in Boolean Algebra, and if the line of o's and 1's were correct the the logic output was true, of course ever input had 2 possible conditions, 0 or 1 and either could be true, the line of logic was sometime many inputs say 10 and the output could be an internal one and not going to the outside world, it could go to an internal state that could be locked on, in which case the bit could only be reset by a line of logic which could unlatch the bit.

The PLC  (Programmable Logic Controllers) are much more sophisticated compared to computers which fro most uses in industry would be a disaster if used to control machinery, the problem with computers is the n=memory, when it loses power it is lost, and to use that to control a machine would be a disaster as you can imagine.

The hardest and most crazy makes i had to program was a German one, oh dear, it really was a challenge as when you turned it on to run, you didn't didn't know if it would, it did that many checks first that it was a nightmare, it was used on one of a London airport baggage handling system, it crashed and took days to get the system working again, the make was Siemens, i was certainly glad when i never saw it again.

hope it got a bit warmer there today, but have my doubts it did, as it was quite a bit cooler here. But I hope you managed to get some work done.

Yes I forgot to mention how good the lidl raspberries are. Shame you find the rest of the fruit and veg doesn't last so long though.

As you guessed I am rather partial to flowery attire.   Don't like plain black or brown stuff, but like a bit of colour or floral.

Hicky

Glad you got the good weather so could carry on sorting your garden things out. Shame you couldn't get your spring roll wrappers especially after getting a taxi to sainsburys, and then you had trouble with your samosas.  Glad the 8 you made were good though.

I think a lot of places don't bother asking you to send stuff back, as the admin involved and postal costs to sort it out, just aren't worth it. But it is good luck for you they told you to keep it as it might come in usefull.

Bit annoying they couldn't sort your prescription out, but that is the trouble when their IT crashes everything comes to a halt.

Not a bad day today weather wise. It was a bit cooler which is a good thing as it has been very stuffy lately.

Did a bit of food shopping in Asda.... and I just happened to see this flowery dress half price at ÂĢ6 and it fitted perfect, so I just had to stick it in the trolley.

I think OH gets puzzled when I need to to somewhere and always say I have nothing to wear.

Just watched a bit of Love Island as I was out in the garden and then busy with paperwork till then.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening both.
The weather did improve today. Started out dull and cloudy, but the sun came out and it got up to 20 degrees.
Got quite a bit of work done.

Hicky. Pity you couldn't find the spring roll stuff you were looking for, and they couldn't give you your inhaler because of computer problems.
But sounds like your Samosas were good, once you worked out how to make them?
That's good that you are well on feeding your trees.
That's strange that the German machine was the most unreliable for you. Usually German things are very efficient.

Mollie. Another flowery bargain?
You were probably grateful that it was a bit cooler for you today. More pleasant out in the garden. Pity that had to be interrupted for some paperwork.

Bit sad as I'm now completely caught up with Game of Thrones and watched the last episode of series 7 on Amazon tonight. That means I've got to wait a year before series 8 comes out.
Perhaps I'll go back and watch them all again?
The author (George RR Martin) is supposed to be bringing out a new book this year, so that might fill a bit of the hole.

emptybox

Evening Both .

A rather cloudy day here, warm though at 20c and light winds of 7 rising to 15.

Had scrambled egg for brekkie.

Finished feeding the trees, hope they don't put on too much weight.

Zested the 5 lemons i got yesterday by using a fruit peeler to remove the zest, so easy, then put the zest and the juice onto a small plastic bag which then was sealed and put into a small ziplock back to freeze, need 1 for my next cake probably.

My part came from the Breadmaker company, with a spare double ended spoon as well.

My neighbour took another baby Fig tree for her friend, or relation.

My lad wants us to go back to Australia this year as well, could be interesting, his o/h will be off anyway, and he can get maternity leave, this sounds good to me as we won't need so many different types of clothing.

I made a dish full of Samosa's and spring rolls with the left over filling, still got some as well, I used a square this time it gives more ways to make them, i will see if o/h will take me to a Chinese or Asian supermarket in Liverpool, they will have the correct sheets to make what i want.

The gardener was next door, we usually have a chat, he asked if i knew any good makes of hedge cutters as his electric one keeps jamming, he brought it round for me to look at as he knows i love fixing things if i can, it is 2 fixed outer steel plates with 2 blades inside those but they are very dry and look as though some old oil could be causing friction, they look as though they should be kept oiled to ease free movement, i will clean all the surfaces while it is in position, undid all the fixings holding the blades together so should manage to clean it some.

Mollie, I never dreamt that the spring roll wrappers only sold in areas where Asians live as they are the ones that use them, i assumed that in an area like that then they would shop in their own supermarket same as Chinese shop in the Chinese supermarket, not in Sainsbury's.

It seems crazy when you can buy a dress for ÂĢ6, and one that fits, lovely.

Enjoying Love Island, a re-coupling tonight with the girls picking.

Emptybox, I need more practice with making the Samosa cases, it is easy with paper but not so easy with dough, but i will get there.

Yes thats the trees fed for another few weeks, with 1 of my rain water storage tanks half empty i put a longer hose onto the pump to reach the other tank, now thats half empty, i started giving a gallon between 2 trees as its easier to do as i can sit between/in front of 2 trees to do it.

The German PLC controller system was so complicated, very clever but only Germans should have been allowed near it, one time during a period when i was trying to design a program for a car plant in Germany i was trying to get a measuring adapter card tested but it wouldn't work, we had set it up according to the instruction manual, in the end we had to send for the German engineers to come over, after racking their heads fo 2 days they go in touch with some very senior persons in the company, then the next day they received a message that said the instruction manual had changed and there was different instructions to set the card up, we even had times when the program didn't seem to be doing what we expected, when we checked in the program we found that it has 2 programs, one it uses to work on and the other which lies there for you to modify, but if you forgot to transfer the new program into the memory thn it carried on using the old program.

Another thing we found out about PLC's was that they have what is called housekeeping, that is at the start of each scan the system looks to see if anything needs doing, so when i altered programs on most PLC's before it entered the modified program into it's memory to run, it stopped the scan, loaded the whole new program in then started the scan, the problem was, (which we found out a long time ago), was, that if a lift was carrying car doors in Dagenham form the top floor to the ground floor and the lift was at top speed dropping and was approaching the sensors that told it to slow down and i pressed the key on the program screen to load the modification then while it was doing housekeeping it couldn't see the sensor so didn't go into a slower speed so landed at ground floor in high speed, it took a lot of puzzling in the early days before we realised what was happening, problem then was, it meant we could only modify the program when things had stopped, one job in Dagenham had 18 lifts and 54 switch points which diverted the trolleys carry doors to another direction.

The doors actually matched up with the car on the final line, one each side of the car, it was then taken off by an operator using a suspended robotic unit and fixed to the car, the trolley was then released and when up a floor into an empty trolley store, the total track length was about 1 mile, 1 floor painted the doors, another trimmed them then they went into store waiting to go down to the line for installing.

Designed and installed similar but smaller system all over the uk and Europe.

thats good the weather was great for you to get some work done yesterday. Hope it was too today.

Yes my son was disappointed when he watched the last Game of Thrones as it will be such a long wait till the next one. That is interesting you say a new book is due out, is the exact date available yet?

Forgot to ask if you got any treats from Lidl when you last shopped?

Hicky

Your neighbour is doing well with the baby fig trees gift.

How exciting your lad wants you over in Oz again this year. I take it you will get to meet the new addition then as it is timed with your lads maternity leave? When is the baby due? As you say, being as you will only be in a warm country, you won't need to take much luggage.

Hope you have some luck fixing the gardner's hedge cutters.

Very interesting that you found out shops like Sainsburys target what they sell to meet the type of people that live in their local areas.

How often do you need to feed each tree? Well done getting them all fed for a few weeks now.

Gosh that German controller system does sound complicated.

As Emptybox says, in general German designs are usualy quite good. We have a Miele washing machine and tumble drier and vacuum cleaner. All great.   And with a big family and 2 pets, they all get a lot of use!

Went to Asda for a bit of food shopping today, resisted any more flowery clothes. (only just!).

A nice day today, no rain and nice and fresh without that stifling heat again.

Enjoyed Love Island again, not so sure Alex should be seeking advice from Adam though!

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi guys.

Not too bad today. Cooler and cloudier than yesterday, and a little drizzle in the air late afternoon. The wind has got quite high this evening.

Got a big job done involving strimming, hedge cutting and mowing.

Hicky. That was good your bread maker part came, along with an extra bit.

You're fairly getting rid of those fig trees as well.

That'll be great if you could go back to Australia again over Xmas. As you say, there'd be no need of winter clothing over there.

Sounds like your Samosas were more successful today.

I always oil the blade of my hedge cutter before a long job. It works much better that way, and the battery seems to last a bit longer as well. My main one is a Mac Allister 18v Lithium-Ion one that cost just over ÂĢ60 from B&Q. Only disadvantage of it is that you can't seem to buy replacement batteries for it.

I've also got a Bosch 14.4v Ni-Cad one, that isn't quite as powerful as the Mac Allister one, but the spare batteries are readily available on Ebay for less than ÂĢ20.

That's good you've got your trees fed for another few weeks.

Yes that German machine sounds like it was too complicated for it's own good?

Mollie. Glad you had nice but not too hot weather today.

Well done resisting the urge to buy yet more flowery clothes. Be strong.

Unfortunately the book George RR Martin is bringing out isn't the next in the Game of Thrones series. He's been writing that since 2011 and hasn't finished it yet.

I think it's a book about the history of the Targaryen family, set 300 years before the events of GoT, called 'Fire and Blood'. But I see it's not out until 20th November. So quite a long wait even for that.

Evening Both.

A bit stormy this morning, some rain overnight, the winds dropped at 3pm today, 19c, some sun but 50 winds.

Checked the garden this morning, had turned the watering off for all except the trees.

Had my first Raspberry from the summer fruiting canes, there will be loads soon, it's difficult with being colour blind as it's hard to tell when they are ready to pick, i can tell when i can't easier.

Got some practice in on making the Samosa wrappers using the Filo pastry, i trimmed the pastry into 2 strips so they measured 4" x 10" (10x25cm) as the length needs to be 2.5 times the width, anyway, on checking my paper one which has the 4 folds marked out it was fine, used up the rest of the filling and made a tray of Samosa's to put in the freezer.

Had bacon tomes, hash browns and egg for brekkie.

For tea, decided to use the rest of the stir fry veg packet, added some spices, some nuts, some toms, and the usual, soy, oyster, sesame, chilli and coriander leaf, oh and a pack of king prawns as well, very tasty.

O/H had to get a complete exhaust on the car, i said the other day it had rattles underneath, mind you it has lasted 10 years from new.

Mollie, Yes, it will be exciting to see them again, with an addition, love babies as well, not sure when we would go but if they are both off work then it will be great, if he is still in the 1 bed apartment then we will have to stay in a hotel again.

Yes, luggage, i sure wouldn't need much, should be a lot less documentation as well.

Baby due end of September i think.

I feed the trees every month while they have fruit, they can't get goodness from the ground with being in tubs, i feed the veg in tubs or raised beds more often as it's a lot easier.

The German controller system should really only be used by Germans, but the company just said, well you'll just have to learn how to use it, but when we left the job all the paperwork had to be in German, also all the labels on the control panel switches, lights, push button and even the labels on the PLC internal program as each bit of the thousands of digital bits has to be named, i had to hire interpreters.

Their Machinery and engineers are very good but the Siemens PLC unit was designed by Germans for Germans, that was the problem, it was so complex that even the main Ford factory engineers put a special power supply into the control panels so they didn't have to lose power on the controller as if they did lose power they didn't know if it would run when the power came back, no other system that i ever used had that problem.

I enjoyed Love Island as well, don't like 2 of them, Adam and that competitor against Alex, he is far too pushy, i don't think he's a good choice for any nof them.

Emptybox, I'm going to grease the inner sides of the blades on the hedge trimmer after i sharpen them, i am cleaning and sanding the sides of the blades to get the old caked oil/grease off, they should be very free to slide against each other, it doesn't look like that at the mo, i've ordered a new file and a small grease gun to do the job.

Yes, have cracked the Samosa case problem, i need the proper sheets though to get it right, Filo pastry isn't right for the job.

I do like any equipment made by Bosch, my washing machine and dishwasher are that make, i really would recommend them to anyone.

I would have thought a petrol hedge trimmer would be best for your job.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Very windy here most of the day. No damage as such, but my lawn is covered in twigs and leaves that have blown off the trees.

I thought it was calming down a bit by 2pm, but then the rain started. So I decided not to go out, as I hate trying to work in high winds, and it makes everything more difficult.

Losing one day's work shouldn't set me back too much, as long as we get dry weather from now on.

Yes, it must be difficult for you knowing when your fruit is ready.

Good that you are getting in more Samosa making practice.

Pity your OH needed a complete new exhaust, but 10 years is pretty good going for the original.

You are right, a petrol hedge cutter would be more powerful and no battery problem, but they are much heavier and spew out exhaust into your face when you hold them up at eye level. Plus I never found them reliable, I was always having problems with them.

I still have one that kind of works, but I haven't used it for about 3 years, and have just used rechargeable ones.

 Watched Humans tonight.

Emptybox

hope the weather calms down for you, as you say you could do wihtout losing any more work days at this time of year.

That is a long wait till November for the book , but now I know what I will buying son for Christmas.

Hicky

yes that is a pity the colour blindness causes problems with your raspberry colours.

At least you are well stocked now with samosas.

As Emptybox said, I guess 10 yearsis quite good for an exhaust.

That will be lovely for you and OH to spend some time with your family and their new baby. So I guess you just have to wait now to see if he moves to a bigger place before you know if you will stay in a hotel or not.

You are certainly very organised with your tree care, no wonder you always have a good crop of produce.

Yes I don't like the sly guy up against Alex, nor big headed Adam. Not keen on Hayley out of the girls.

Another good episode tonight.

Not a bad day here today at all, dry, and a bit of sun, quite windy, but not too much.

Went to college musical tonight with son. It was very good for just a student one.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Good Evening Both.

Cooler today, 17c sunny intervals, winds at 11 to 14 then dropping slowly again.

As o/h is off work this week we went to a large Sainsbury's a long way away, got a good shop in with a few extra's as you do.

Got a table at the supermarket for brekkie, but it wasn't looking good, the tables were full of trays and plates and the 1 rack was full, after 10 minutes of waiting o/h came over from the queue to say they had no plates left and it would take 15 minutes before they could make the food, we didn't wait, we went into the shop.

Had a bacon sandwich when i got home, i was freezing going round the shop as all the isles seem to be like a fridge, i only had sandals, undies shorts and short sleeve shirt, i got a bit warmer as we passed the bakery section.

Decided to make a loaf, anyway, made a basic 1kg loaf and added some seeds, haven't tried it yet.

Bought a few cake mixes as the machine makes those as well, got another veg stir fry pack as they make good spring rolls, still only got the Filo pastry but it will have to do for now.

For tea i made beef and mushroom with rice, o/h had made the same, we used Sirloin steak as the beef.

Had the watering off this morning on the raised beds as we haven't had enough sun to dry the ground any.

Got some nice JalapeÃąo peppers growing in the greenhouse, also toms doing well, lots of flowers on the melons but you have to hand pollinate those, the cucumbers are forming now, later than last year because i could only get the grafted plug plants.

Had a letter form the hospital urology dept saying the xray of my kidneys showed stable appearance of both kidney stones, not too sure what that means, but it sounds ok.

Mollie, I don't think my lad in Oz has enough time to sort out new promises, also it depends on his contract were he is, his penthouse suit is rented out, he sold the house he had built and i think he would want to build one he wouldn't want someone else's i don't think, so i'll have to see.

I wonder who will go tonight, they will be on the program after the main show Sunday.

Hayley is scouse, not so keen on her either, but she is pretty straight with them.

Emptybox, One problem with some fruit trees is that the fruit ripens at different times, i have some cherries that are almost ripe, but with my eyes i will have to feel them to tell i think, some are going red-ish but not red on the darker side, the sun is doing the same on the apples as well, most of the fruit trees get sun from 6am till 9pm which is a lot of sun, thats the beauty of a bungalow, also my garden faces almost South with a field behind me so no buildings.

The amount of maintenance we have paid out on the car is very little really, the car is Asian, i would never have believed they could be this good.

I didn't realise you could have all those problems with a petrol mower, have you looked at the GTech ones, or Bosch.

Hi both xxx

Hicky

That is good your scan hasn't thrown up any obvious problem.

That is nice for you OH to have a break off work.

Don't blame you choosing not to eat in a cafe as disorganised as that one!

Funny you should say about a supermarket being really freezing cold. Our Sainsburys is the coldest place to be found round here! It is awful, and it means it is very upleasant. I have to take a thickjumper to put on if I shop in there. OH came with me the other day and couldn't believe how cold he felt too!

As you say, it seems to be between all the isles. I too sometimes meet a friend for coffee in their cafe and it is not quite so cold, but still chilly in there, so always take a cardy if I am meeting her there. 2 women in the queue were also complaining about how cold it always is in there. Something always seems to be broken down in the cafe too. One week no coffees as the machine broke, the next week, cash only as the card machine had broken. I reckon they are not investing is staff or equipment now with the up and coming merge with asda.

I love a seeded loaf, so I bet your home baked one will be delicious.

Sounds like your produce is coming on well.

Sounds like your lad will have his hands full with work and a new baby coming wihtout having to organise a property to build. But I am sure you don't mind whether you stay in a hotel as long as you get to spend time with them.

It is so good for growing your produce that you have a south facing garden. Did you know it was south facing when you bought it?

Been a lot cooler here today, not complaining though as it was dry and it had been getting so hot earlier in the week, it was uncomfy.

Went to the auction viewing, wow it had so much stuff there. I chat to a guy who works there and he said they are being inundated with stuff. So many businesses closing down. My vacuum is playing up, so might risk buying one from auction.

Watching Love Island, enjoying it.

Didn't know someone else was due to go in, as this is the 1st year I have watched it. I know someone is due to leave though. Don't want it to be Alex. I think Dani seems such a nice girl and Jack nice too.

Hope the weather behaved for you to get some work done today Emptybox.

What are you watching on tv tonight?

Goodnight both xxx

Evening both.

Not bad day today. Cloudy and breezy at times, but also quite a lot of sunshine, and up to 16 degrees.
Got a lot done, mostly grass cutting, at 6 different places.

I'm finding that the grass has really slowed down and is looking a bit yellow in a lot of places. Not used to the unusually dry weather I guess.

Mollie. Yes, it is a long wait for that book. I thought you might say it would make a good Xmas pressie for your lad.
The author has another psuedo-history book on the GoTs universe out which I'm going to buy called 'The World of Ice and Fire'. That's been out for 4 years though, so your lad might already have it.

Glad you enjoyed the student musical.
Hope you find a good vacuum cleaner at the auction. I thought you had one of those cordless ones? Has that packed up?
Funnily enough, I always find it a bit cold in Sainsburys as well. I suppose it is all the refrigerated units?

Hicky. Pity you didn't get your brekkie in Sainsburys. That doesn't sound very efficient of them?
Sounds like you were under-dressed for your visit there?

That's good that you've got all that veg coming in the greenhouse, including the JalapeÃąo peppers (couldn't be bothered trying find that 'n' with the accent on, so just copied and pasted from your post ).

Good news that your kidney stones are stable at least. But I guess it also means they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Yes, the Japanese and Asian cars in general seem to be the most reliable nowadays.

I've considered getting a G-Tech cordless hedger in the past, but they are a bit more expensive than some, and someone who has one told me they were a bit under-powered.

Watched Cruising with Jane McDonald tonight, then Graham Norton.
Watched some of the footie before that (just because there wasn't much else on).

Evening Both.

Cooler today 18c light rain with winds of 12 to 17 for now.

Went out for brekkie for a change, just had what is called a 7" plated meal, Hash browns, bacon sausage egg mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and toast with tea.

We then crossed over to a bakers and got some lovely meat pies ans a Meringue cake, then called in to Sainsbury's to get mu inhaler, also got some bacon and bread flour.

Made a Cake using a cake mix, it's a Lemon Drizzle cake, had a little hickup when putting the cake mix and additional ingredients in, didn't realise i had to add a lemon, and put some of the lemon drizzle mix into the cake, then realised it's icing sugar, anyway, practice makes, a need for more practice.

Just put a whole duck in the oven with a couple of baked spuds.

The File came, it is to sharpen the hedge trimmer blades.

Have changed my mouse cursor to black now as i have been struggling with it on the browser, kept losing it, but in Win 10 you can change it.

Glad Alex stayed last night on L.I. and more going in tomorrow night.

Mollie, I wasn't expecting any report about my kidney stones but glad now to have some feedback, think they will still check again in 12 months.

I just didn't expect it to be that cold in the aisles in the supermarket, but with so much food it is obvious it can't be warm, i would have put a jacket on if i had realised.

O/H was adding up the possible cost of another journey to Oz, it could cost about ÂĢ10k without food if we have to stay in a hotel.

I didn't realise the garden faced South almost and it wasn't overlooked, o/h wasn't interested in the garden, more good luck really, but i do think people should take it into consideration.

I would think it's easy enough to get a vacuum cleaner from the auction.

They keep adding new lads and lasses all the way through, i'm sure, it shows up who isn't happy as a couple.

Emptybox, Love the JalapeÃąo peppers, no idea why the 'n' has an accent mark, the peppers originate from Mexico i think, mine are growing well, have 1 about 3" long.

I didn't realise what the report on the kidney stone meant.

This one from Argos is pretty cheap and cordless at ÂĢ39.99.

http://www.argos.co.uk/product...&_$ja=tsid:59156|acid:444-797-0832|cid:596650041|agid:28594643125|tidla-337494231808|crid:95889911485|nw:g|rnd:8624379817377776963|dvc:c|adp:1o5|mt:|loc:1006523&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIx7ububbW2wIVFRIbCh2z2Ql0EAQYBSABEgJt2_D_BwE

I used to watch Graham Norton, but he's way ott now and the stuff they do is getting stupid.

Have so many recording to watch, such a problem.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Raining here most of the day. It brightened up this evening, but too late for going out.

Who'd have thought you'd need a lemon for a lemon drizzle cake?

Sounds like a nice brekkie out. I had a cooked brekkie of bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushroom and egg.

That's good that the file came. now you can get to work on the gardener's hedger.

Hopefully you wouldn't need to pay for the trip to Australia yourselves? I'd have thought your lad would pay or at least contribute?

Been watching the footie again tonight. There's not much else on. I don't like 'All Round to Mrs Brown's'. Not as good as the Mrs Brown's series proper.

gosh you were busy getting work done at 6 different places. Weekend off now?

Yes places looking a bit yellow here too, although today we have had a lot of rain, so don't think it will be yellow now.

No I don't think my lad has that book, so thanks for the hint, I am sure he will enjoy that one too. (even if it has been out for a few years.) My OH fancies going to Dubronvik to do the Game of Thrones walk next as they enjoyed seeing the Irish ones where GOT was filmed.

Yes I have a cordless one, and although it still works, the on/off button is not right, sometimes it takes a few goes to get it to turn on. So I might get one at auction as a back up. We use ours so much, they do tend to pack in quickly.

The G tech looks good for a hedge cutter, but I wonder if they would last long enough to get good vaule for their price? We used to have their vacuum, but that packed up. Doesn't matter so much if they pack up and you don't pay much for them though, eg the link HIcky gives is a good price. Lidl sell them now and again too, we have found their electricals good.

Hicky

glad you got out for brekkie, makes up for what you missed the other day.

Hope you remembered to take your jacket when you went shopping in Sainsburys.

I am sure with your practice, you will get there soon for cake making.

Good job you could change the cursor to black so you could see it easier. How are your eyes now? Has the treatment helped them overall now? Yes good job they did remember to give you some sort of feedback re the kidneys.

Gosh ÂĢ10k is a lot of money! I guess it is an expensive time to stay if you go for Christmas as that is their main summer hols time over there. Plus flights will be expensive. And being Sydney, costly of course. Let's hope your lad can put you up if you do want to go.

That is so lucky as you didn't check before you bought, that your garden did turn out to be south facing. As you say, most important as you spend so much time in it, and to grow produce it is brilliant to have sun.

Glad to see they keep adding new ones to Love Island, I would like to see a nice woman suitable for Alex come in.

Went to the Cats Protection open day today. I like to support them as the volunteers work so hard. You can wonder round and see the cats, and read a bit about them. So sad,  I especially feel sorry for the cats whose owners have died, and the poor owners who have had to go into care and so their cats are there now to be rehomed. The poor owners must miss them. They rehomed nearly  2300 cats last year alone! So I go and support them at their summer fayre by buying cakes (the volunteers make wonderful cakes!), buying raffle tickets etc. Last year I won a beautiful crochured blanket in the raffle (one of the volunteers made it) and this year they rang me and said I had won a prize in the raffle again. How lucky was that? I will collect tomorrow or next week.

Not much on tv tonight, so watched Mrs Brown.

My son and daughter are on Uni summer hols, so are off the Eurosdisney on Tuesday. So we collected some Euros for them from Tesco today. It is a special Marvel theme for this summer, and they both love Marvel, so hopefully they will really enjoy it.

Rained heavy till late afternoon, so was very cool too.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi Mollie. Sorry you got the rain as well. But the grass does need it.
That was lucky, winning something in the Cats Protection raffle for a second year running.
I'm sure your son and daughter will love the Marvel theme at Eurodisney.

I see GoTs has been filmed in 7 different countries, including Dubrovnic in Croatia, so you could plan holidays for many years, if you wanted to see them all.
https://www.skyscanner.net/new...s-locations-pictures

I think, in terms of a cordless hedger, I'm going to keep the B&Q one going as long as I can, and buy new batteries for my Bosch one, so I'm not looking for another one at the moment.

Evening Both.

Happy Fathers day to all Fathers.

Just cloud today.19c with winds of around 14.

My lad sent a message with a picture from Oz, he wished me the usual and said he was celebrating Fathers day for me with a big Duck Chinese meal, so, as i had cooked a duck last night and had some left over i decided to make a duck curry for brekkie, a bit unusual but that nothing new.

Another of my lads called in with a card and a chat, i showed him around the garden again, he's impressed, Gave my lad a piece of the cake, he liked it anyway.

Picked a few Raspberries, keeping them in the freezer for now, also picked some Cherries that looked ripe, had 1 myself and gave the rest to o/h.

Going to make a prawn stir fry for tea.

Mollie, Yes, when we went for brekkie i took a jacket as the weather was cool and rain due so when in Sainsbury's i wasn't cold this time.

My eye is fine, of course i still have the AMD so not sure if they can do anything about that, i'd probably need a replacement eye, the AMD means i have dead area's of vision in that eye, if the other one follows i'll be in trouble.

Yes, around Christmas would be an expensive time to go to Oz if we have to have an apartment or a hotel, he will pay for that though, but even meals would cost a bit.

I think it was pure luck with the garden facing almost South, the trees love it, they are growing well.

Would like to see Alex find a nice new girl, some going in tonight.

Thats lucky winning a prize in the raffle again, i used to do that, i was pretty lucky like that.

Your son and daughter are going to love going to Eurodisney, wow, a great start to their holidays.

Emptybox, Yes, fancy needing a Lemon for a ready mix cake, i assumed it was all in the box, with the writing in a little circle on the front of the packet being in pink and white i never noticed it, ah well, when i realised my mistake i added some real lemon juice.

As you say, my lad will pay for the holiday but o/h is worried it would cost a lot, i don't think he's short of a few bob though, i know he's discussing it with o/h so they might make a decision, can't wait too long as everything will be booked up.

I stopped watching the Mrs Browns show, got a big boring.

Hicky

Emptybox

was it a shopping day for you today? If so, Lidl or Sainsburys or both ?

Was it as wet up there as it has been all day here?

Thank you for the GOT link, they certainly used some amazing locations.   I think if OH and son decide to go to the Malta ones, I wouldn't mind going there too.

Hicky

Happy Fathers day to you HIcky.

How nice to get a message from Oz from your lad. And nice that your other lad visited too and likes your garden and cake too.

Yes that is a problem if you have to have a hotel around Christmas..., the cost of food in Sydney. I think a lot of hotel rooms there you can cook yourself, but that is awkward in a city like that because of all the food shopping you'd have to do. I bet your lad would have you over to his place for most meals though. A lot for you to consider, but your lad must really want you to go. Australia is a loney place over Christmas for people living there, who miss their families back in the UK. So if he wants to pay, I hope your OH will not worry and accept his offer, because I think for him to pay for it, will be money well spent for him, as he gets to spend Christmas with you both.

Rain all day today. As you say Emptybox, the garden needs it after all the dry and hot weather we have had recently.

We went to Costco, lots of free food samples, which was nice. We also had lunch there, I had jacket potato, beans and cheese, really good for ÂĢ1.50 as they are always very generous with portions.

Looking forward to Love Island. As you say, hope Alex finds a nice girl. Good job I started watching this series as there is no BB for some reason and far too much football on for my liking!

Have a good evening both xxx

Hi both.

Cold, cloudy and windy here today. A bit of rain tonight.
Went for my paper this morning, and to Sainsburys this afternoon.

Hicky.  That's nice that you got Fathers' day greetings from your lads, and one called in.
At least he liked your cake anyway.
Ah yes I guess, even though your lad would be paying for the holiday, you don't want him to spend too much.

Mollie. Yes I bet you wouldn't mind going to Malta, GoT or not.
Pity it rained for you today, but at least you could enjoy your Costco lunch.
I see BB doesn't start till August, and there is CBB first followed by the civilian one afterwards.
www.thesun.co.uk/celebrity-big-brother-to-air-in-august-followed-by-big-brother-after-launch-was-delayed/

Watched Poldark again tonight.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A strange day here, 19c but cloudy, some slight sunny spells, more windy today, 18 dropping to 15 tonight.

Didn't do a lot today, tended the garden, have to keep an eye on the vine as it can send out side shoots that you can miss, i want the vine to concentrate on the fruit.

Had bacon mushroom egg and tomato with toast for brekkie.

Garden and Greenhouse growing well, Cucumbers have started to grow now, lots of flowers on the melon plants, picked some spring onions for tea, to go in my spring roll filling, i made some for tea using the Filo pastry again, made 9 as that was all would go on the oven baking tray, had 5 will freeze 4.

Was checking the apples, wow, took a lot of small ones off as they will be aborted anyway, need to pick more raspberries and cherries, the Figs are coming on ok.

The update on the Oz trip, the summer in Oz is December, Jan and Feb, his o/h wants to get her sister and son over, the one that was banned from going to the wedding by the US dept of security, so as it's probably cheaper after Christmas we could be delayed till then, it doesn't matter to us really.

Mollie, The place we stayed in in Sydney was very nice, we had a kitchen and places outside the building that sold food which was handy and a supermarket over the road which was fine for me.

Costco will be getting used to your order for food, and a good price really, i would enjoy that as well.

Yes, Love Island was good, i have a feeling that all the girls want a naughty boy, no a goody goody one, thats how it seems, they want a rough and tumble authoritative feller so Alex could have a problem, he's just too nice and boring.

I think CBB/BB  will be on when Love Island finishes as they didn't want the competition as it stole the viewers last year, so it will probably start then, when does LI finish?.

Emptybox, You weather is similar to here at the mo, nit idea for you or me.

Glad someone liked the cake, i have been eating it, love lemon.

It cost an awful lot last time we went, i know he had allowed about AUS$ 50,000 for the wedding and those going over etc, so i don't want to cost him too much next time.

Hicky

Hi both xxx

Emptybox

you settled for Sainsburys instead of Lidl this week then. Did you buy any treats?

Gosh CBB and BB are so late this year!

Was it rain again there today?

It was cool and cloudy most of the day, then rain by afternoon, and a cold wind too.

Hicky

that is good your garden/greehouse produce is doing well, hope your vine does well too.

Yes probably best for you to go to Oz after Christmas, as you know from experience how difficult train travel was for you over the Christmas period. Probably also good for your son in that it should be cheaper after the main holiday period.

Is your lad in Sydney? If so, maybe you will stay in the same place again?

Costco cafe is always very busy when we go at weekend lunch times. No wonder really as it is such good value.

Yes Love Island Alex is too nice for the girls in there, and because he is obviously clever being a doc, perhaps they don't know how to converse well with him?

Just stayed home and tidied and did paperwork today.

Helped family pack for their Disney hols.

Didn't notice the rain had come on, so my nearly dried washing became really wet washing!

Watching 24 hours in Police Custody, then will watch my recording of Love Island.

Have a good evening both. xxx

M

Evening both.

Cloudy cool and windy again today. Only up to 15 degrees at most.
Got a bit done, but wasn't very pleasant out.

Hicky. That's good that your garden and greenhouse plants are doing well.
My tomatoes are up to 4 trusses now, and the bottom ones are growing tomato fruits.
Might be nicer to have Xmas in the UK this year, and then go and soak up some sun in Oz afterwards.

Mollie. Don't think I bought any treats in Sainsburys, unless you count Twix, Snickers and beer as treats? More like essentials IMO.
Sounds like it's not good weather for you either.
That's annoying when you have stuff on the line that gets wet in the rain.

I watched Long Lost Family then 24Hrs in Police Custody on +1.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not too bad here today, 19c but light cloud most of the time, had some sun break through though, winds started low at 5 and got stronger as the day passed.

Didn't do a lot, o/h was working some of the day, had bacon and toms for brekkie.

Gave some spring onions to my neighbour and picked some for my spring roll mix, was making them for tea when o/h said did i want a takeaway for tes, yes i said, i'll freeze the spring onions i make, had just finished the mix, will keep it for tomorrow morning.

Had my toe nails done so they are ok for a while.

Have found the Glucosomine/Chondroitin tablets that i used to get from Costco before they stopped getting them in, so have ordered them from Amazon, they might have stopped selling them because they put the price up, these are a few coppers off ÂĢ40.

Picked more Raspberries, added them to the stock in the freezer.

Mollie, I think the cucumbers are going to be prolific again this year, they are the ones you pick small and you get 3 or 4 a day.

I don't mind when we go over to Oz, his apartment is in the business area and he got a train to us as the hotel was pretty close to the quayside, but i am easy, will stay anywhere.

My Lad is working not so far from home, his o/h is working further up the coast so they only see each other at the weekend.

These 2 new girls have really shook things up, saw a news item that one of the couples have split with the feller preffering one of the newbies.

That was a shame getting your dry clothes wet, oh dear.

Emptybox, I went over the road to talk to the gardener who looks after the big front/side garden, my gardener friend was asking about hedge trimmers and for me to look into them for him, this feller has everything you could ever need to garden, a mixture of battery and petrol engines, he said he is moving to all battery as the vibration is not good for you, his lovely hedge trimmer is a Bosch 50 20, so a 500mm blade with a 20mm tooth gap, but has a special few cutting blades at the front and can cut a 25mm branch, it also has non jam blades and is so light, but, the battery can fit most of the Bosch tools which of course would be very handy as he could just carry batteries, the battery on the hedge trimmer with last for 1Â― hours.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch...rdless+hedge+trimmer

I am amazed at the amount of growth on the fruit trees, at the same time as growing the fruit, aren't trees strange, i've got a foot of growth on many branches, i have to keep an eye on the vine though, although it has 50 bunches of grapes it doesn't like to be stopped so every couple of days i need to check every branch for secret growth, each branch has grown some big new leaves, so glad of that as it needs them to ripen the fruit.

Yes, i don't mind going to Oz anytime, as long as it's warm, hottest month is Jan.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Bit better today. Still cloudy and quite windy, but a bit warmer - up to 16 degrees.

It's been raining tonight though.

Got a few jobs done. Strimming, hedge cutting weeding and mowing.

I see you abandoned your Spring Rolls quick smart with the prospect of a takeaway in the offing?

That's good that your toenails are tidy again for a while.

Also good that your fruit trees are shooting up.

I think I've said before but I gave up Chondroitin because I read that it had been linked to an increase in the chance of Prostate cancer. I now take a Glucosomine and Cod Liver Oil capsule every morning.

That Bosch hedge cutter is a better one than I've got. Mine is a 14.4v Ni-Cad one, which isn't sold anymore. But you can still easily find the batteries for it.

Watched some of the footie (Russia vs Egypt), then Trevor McDonald in South Africa.

shame weather not very pleasant to work in yesterday. Good job it was an  improvement today.

Sounds like your tomatoes are going to do well this year.

You are right a bit of sun does sound a good idea for HIcky after Christmas, It would certainly shorten our long winter for him.

Yes your shopping list does sound like you got all your "essentials" in to see you through the week. Do you take a twix to work or save it for home in front of tv?

Hicky

You had a better day there than we did today.

It was a misty drizzly day all day here today, and seemed quite dark.

Hope you got a lift ok to get your toenails done?

What did you and OH have for takeaway?

Good job you found those tablets as they are very expensive.

Because of huge distances between towns, I think working away all week in Oz often happens. My OH used to have to do the "fly out, fly in" they do there for work. I didn't like it at all though, and he hates flying now as he got so bored with it. It is good you are retired now, so are open to exact dates to visit Oz.

Watched Love Island......gosh as you say, those new girls have really got things shook up tonight!

Left early this morning to take family to airport. I was a bit nervous the mist would delay the flight, but they got away fine and arrived fine.

Daughter rang me and they are enjoying themselves in Disney, so much to do there. Parades, rides, shows, etc.

Neither. I often have a Twix just as I come in from work, to restore my energy levels.

Good that your kids are enjoying themselves at Euro Disney though.

Just started watching Game of Thrones right from the beginning again.

Had an easy day really, very cloudy with 18c but the breeze of 21 down made it feel cold.

gave my neighbour some cherries, picked raspberries for the freezer.

Made the spring rolls using the filling i had made, froze 9 and ate 7 for tea.

Had a slice of my bread for brekkie with butter and jam, so tasty.

Have ordered a new water timer computer for the greenhouse as i want to set it different to the tree watering times and i don't want it on every day, so at the mo i have to be in the greenhouse each morning to control the tap.

I'm going to try the Gardena as the the Hoselock one i want is ÂĢ60 or so.

Mollie, Yes, o/h took me to the foot nurse for my nails, she got a chop suey roll and a beef and onion dinner.

Think his o/h is working in Brisbane so they have to fly at the weekend.

The new girls on Love Island have caused havoc, but thats what the show is about, but it looks like Elli wants Wes not Alex.

Glad family got away and arrived ok, they will love the break.

Emptybox, Who would turn down a free takeaway? i just love the beef and tomato meal, i get the chips as any type of gravy soaks into rice.

Looking again at the reports of Chondroitin now it doesn't seem to think it can cause cancer but advises don't take it if you have it.

I take the oil capsules anyway, i'm sure they help.

The Bosch hedge Trimmer is made in all sizes, short long very long, and the batteries of the same style seem to come in differing amperages but of course bigger is heavier.

I don't watch footy, o/h does though.

If you can play golf, snooker, chess, and a lot of games without getting hurt then why can't you do the same with football?

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Heavy rain overnight and early morning (my satellite TV signal was going off and on last night). As a result everything stayed soaking all day as the sun never made an appearance.

Didn't get out to do any work.

Had a phone call from the landlady yesterday saying a plumber is coming next Friday to service my central heating boiler. That means I'll have to wait in, and unless he comes in the morning, I might not get any work done.

So hopefully the weather will be good between now and then, so I can get caught up beforehand.

I'm sure your neighbour will enjoy the cherries.

Hope the new watering computer is as good as the Hoselock one, as it's half the price.

I decided not to take Chondroitin because I was already having Prostate problems. Maybe it's perfectly safe, but I decided not to take any chances. Have to say though that the Glucosomine on it's own is maybe not so effective, because I do now sometimes get little aches in my knees, but not nearly as bad as before I started taking Glucosomine.

I took the Glucosomine + Chondroitin mix for a few years and didn't have any aches in the knees.

I've never got hurt watching footie Hicky, so I don't know what you mean?

Watched the footie again (why the hell am I watching all this footie when I'm not a fan??). Then I watched 24 Hrs in A&E.

Longest night tomorrow. I went for a walk round the garden at 10.30pm tonight, and it was only just starting to get dusky with all the colours still visible. No doubt if it had been a sunny day it would have stayed in daylight even longer.

I notice that it starts getting light by 2am as well, so there's less than 4 hours of darkness up here at this time of the year.

Was it a go ahead with work weather today or rained off?

Cool wind, cloudy and drizzly here today.

Hicky

sounds like your cool breezey weather was similiar to ours, but we did get drizzle too.

I bet your cherries and raspberries are delicious.

I am buying a lot of strawberries right now as they are in season. But of course fruit from the supermarket will never taste as nice as your home grown stuff.

Hope you are pleased with your computerised computer timer. Looks far too techy for me though.

My OH worked in Brisbane for awhile too. A nice city, winter time (around now) the weather is gorgeous. But hot, wet and steamy in summer.

I thought Love Island was brilliant tonight, I so like the jokes from the comedian commentator.   He was on "This Morning", he's so witty. So nice how the lads were encouraging Alex. Not sure how keen Ellie is on him really though, or whether she is just positioning herself so she is not single in there.

Yes of course no one would turn away a free takeaway.

My family had a bit of sibling quarrel this morning, that I had to intervene in. Daughter wants to rush round doing all the thrill rides asap, and son didn't because his leg is bothering him. (they did lots of walking yesterday and plane ride swelled it up). He is better than he was now he is doing the GP referral gym, but still not right yet. So I told him he to go back to the hotel to rest it and her to go off on her own. So they enjoyed themselves together later in the day after his rest, and she'd been on lots of rides alone by then. So much to do they said, something going on all the time, the park doesn't even close till 11pm then opens again at 8.30 the next morning.

Too wet/cloudy to get washing out, so caught up with paperwork today.

Goodnight both xxx

Do you take a twix to work or save it for home in front of tv?

Neither. I often have a Twix just as I come in from work, to restore my energy levels.

Oh yes, it is vital you keep your energy levels up as you do such a physical job.

Watching all of GOT will keep you busy for a few hours now.

Hi Mollie.

Wonder when this lovely warm weather they've been promising will hit? Seems none of us are having it at the moment.

Yes, nothing tastes like home grown food. Far  more flavour than supermarket stuff.

That's good that you able to prevent a sibling clash, even when they are in a different country.

I think if I rewatch all of GoT it'll be about 67 hours.
