Hi Hicky.
Wet here this morning.
Dried up this afternoon, but it was very windy. Got a job done, cut some grass and cut a hedge. I was going to do some weedkilling, but it was too windy for that.

You'll get the hang of the fudge making one of these days, I'm sure of it.
Good idea to make pickle with the excess cucumber.
You are doing really well with your greenhouse produce. At last I've got 2 or 3 tomatoes that are beginning to turn red. I might be able to eat one in a few days.

That sounds like a good Freeview recorder to choose. These Freeview Play devices have all the catch-up services I think?
When I cut my own grass I do it for 'mate's rates'
Hopefully you'll be given a consultant's appointment before too long.

CBB quite good, apart from seeing Jemma and Brandi "goating" Paul.
Was quite funny when Sarah tried to chant her own name.

Good job you did manage to get a bit of work done, hope the wind has died down now so you can get some work done. We haven't had much wind, but plenty of showers. Looks nice so far this morning though.

Yes this week was the first week they have put BBOTS on on a Sunday. Seems strange how they cut back on livefeed, but add a BBOTS.

I agree that the Sarah/Chad thing is sweet, but probably wont' carry on out of the house, especially as he will go back to the USA.

Hicky

shame the fudge didn't quite turn out as fudge, but hope it tasted nice as fudge toffee?

Gosh that is a good recorder if it can record 4 shows at once, we could do with that as my family all like different programmes. Don't blame you getting a new one, it is sooo annoying when they freeze in the middle of a programme.

Hope you enjoy your brekkie out today. Where did you go?

Oh yes in that case if there is a possiblity of the blood vessels not stopping bleeding, you do need to see what the consultant says. HOpefully the doc sending that letter last week, will mean you hear back from the consultant.

CBB...Hope Jemma goes, she is just so awful, she even made Paul look good. As you say Emptybox, when he said "goating" him was so funny, and Sarah spelling out her own name. Sarah always seems to act sort of clumsy and does have the nack of making things look awkward for herself. i do like her.

Time to peg washing out as the sun is shining and lately we never seem to know how far away from rain we are.

Managed to finish the VAT and get it posted yesterday, so that is out of the way for 3 months.

Have a good day both xxx

M

Good Evening, where-ever you are hiding.

A nice day really, 18c but mainly sun all day, no rain, 15 wind.

Had 2 thingies for brekkie with honey on, they go in the toaster and they are from the freezer.

Went to the bank, all sorted now, then we went to a garden centre for a coffee but had tea and a sausage and egg on toasted sandwich, we picked up to racks of bacon bones while there and some scones as i want to test my jam.

Just had the bacon bones, very nice too.

Got my hair in the morning so it looks like brekkie out again.

I need to find homes for my 3 baby fig trees as they are growing rather well, they are in 3 of the 6" pots that i converted so you don't have to turn it over to plant it, the problem is, if i re-pot to a 12" plant pot it will be rather heavy to move around, would hate to get rid of them but i don't have the room.

Not sure who will go tonight, think Jemma or Helen but you never know with the public.

Evening Both.

Wondered where you were, the page must have changed but when i press F5 it only looked at the last page, not a very good program is it?

Emptybox, Might try another fudge recipe tomorrow when i get in.

Yes, it seems a waste to throw the veg away really, much better to use one way or another.

I've got loads of toms turning outside, gave a bag to my neighbour.

Glad you managed to get some jobs done, the weather has put you behind really.

Paul is pretty nasty really, i've seen him in programs before, they are right what they say about him so i have no sympathy.

Mollie, The first lot of fudge that i had to re-work if now pretty hard but it melts in the mouth into fudge, it's not chewy, O/H doesn't like it though, i won't throw it out i'll keep it in case the girls like it.

The recorder doesn't freeze during a program, it just stops taking notice of the remote control, the program stay on the channel fine but i can't get off it.

One of my relations works in the hospital and is going to see if she can find out whats going on.

Enjoy the eviction both of you.

Hicky

Evening.
Very wet overnight, then a nice sunny warm morning, then a torrential shower at 2 pm that stopped play for a while.
I did get a big job in before the shower, then went out again later and cut another lawn, but everything was very wet.

Ate my first tomato today. It wasn't quite ripe but was starting to split, so I picked it. It was very flavourful but not very sweet. But nice anyway.

Mollie. Well done getting the VAT out of the way.
I hope it stayed dry while your washing was out?

Hicky. Glad you got your new bank account sorted, and enjoyed tea and a snack at the garden centre.
What do you mean by bacon bones? Is that like pork ribs or something? Don't think I'd like my bacon to have bones in it.
Hope your relative in the hospital can chase up your appointment.

Really hoped to see the back of Jemma tonight, but she was saved. And what's worse, with her fans chanting for Sarah to go, it'll only make her behave worse in the House.
Watched the live feed after BOTS and they all seemed to be getting on well. No sign of everybody hating Sarah as Jordan seemed to imply.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Had brekkie out before we went to get my hair done, just had a takeaway, i ordered then went to pick it up, had Chicken & Sweetcorn soup with Chicken curry with chips.

Gave 2 more Cucumbers to my neighbour who asked if i had any left.

She gave me a plastic container of curried chicken, was going to have it tonight but!!

I think i've solved the problem with the vine supports for the greenhouse, watched a video of someone in the uk with a vine in his, his is slightly bigger, think it's 10ft long, but i didn't have the room spare.

He has 3 wires across from end to end and grows grapes on each leg so ha has 6 cordons, but to keep it compact he stops the growth after the fruit cluster, ha has got the vine 2ft from the side and i can change that to put the vine 12" from the side by adding supports, the parts of the staging i took to bits will supply all the parts i need, i just take some glass out and fit the structure i need.

I reworked the chocolate fudge again, not sure how it is yet, after it was pretty cool i put it in the fridge, if this is no good i'll bin it, making some more vanilla fudge tomorrow with Condensed milk.

Got an appointment all ready, relation sorted it 7th September.

Had more blood Monday & Tuesday again, late at night, am wondering if it's sitting on this office chair for so long as it doesn't come in the day really.

Pork is Pork, but some pork is cured giving us bacon, ham,  and non cured pork gives us most of the Pork chops, ribs, shoulder, legs of pork.

The Bacon Ribs is what the Back Bacon is cut from and is cured all together.

Very surprised to see Jemma saved,no guessing the public.

Just tried the fudge, i can now cut it, it seems ok to me so will keep it to see the the girls like it, if not it's going in the bin, it's no longer as hard as toffee.

Hicky

glad you found us and realised we hadn't run away.

That was an unusual take away brekkie.

I bet your neighbour was pleased to receive tomatoes as well as cucumber now.

Yes worth trying the fudge on the girls rather than throwing it , hopefully they will enjoy it.

Glad to hear your relative managed to do what the docs still havne't done, and got you an appointment. Lucky you had them to sort it.

Sorry to hear you have blood again, might be worth having a break and walking round regular if you think sitting in the chair is causing it?

Emptybox

that's good you got a fair amout of work done, but shame it was so wet as I know that slows you down.

Glad you enjoyed your tomato.

Yes all my washing dried nicely again today, so that is good.

I agree, what a shame we didn't get rid of Jemma . Can't understand why anyone would want to vote for someone as agressive as her?

Went to get food shopping today, thankfully daughter helped as we have a big weekly food shop.

Looking foward to CBB now.

have a good evening.  xxx

M

Hi guys.
Not too bad day here. Cloudy and windy, but at least the rain stayed off.
Got a few jobs done.

Just got a phone call from my Brother saying they are coming for a visit on Saturday. That only gives me a couple of days to try to clean the house and buy some provisions.
I spoke to him on the phone on Sunday as well, he might have told me then.
I was going to work on Saturday as well. Oh well.....

That sounds like a fair exchange with your neighbour Hicky. Curry for cucumbers.
TBH I wasn't sure which cut bacon came from.
Glad you've worked out a way to support a vine in your greenhouse. Also that your fudge seems to have turned out OK.
Says something that your relative could sort you an appointment with the consultant, but your own GP couldn't? Ah well, at least you've got one now.

Hi Mollie. Glad your washing dried, and your daughter was able to help with your big food shop.
This Detective task on CBB looks like it may be interesting, and may take sarah's mind off her problems in the House.

emptybox

Evening Both.

21c here sunny spells all day, 9-14 wind.

My new Humax box came today, just reading the booklet as the remote control isn't the same, this is very advanced and connects to my Wifi as well, real all singing & dancing system, a lot more advanced than the one i'm using, might sort it tomorrow, a lot smaller as well, registered it so it has 2 years warranty.

Made some fudge today, a very simple recipe that just takes over an hour, oh dear, more problems, not sure what i did wrong, maybe i didn't stir it long enough before i poured it. it was just an easy one using condensed milk instead of evap, it's setting but not crystallising enough, i'll sort it tomorrow.

Been making some of the Aluminium sections for the greenhouse vine, got to drill extra holes in them, i can do each end by just removing the panes by the front/back corner, i can then drill the frame.

Had the chicken curry i got from my neighbour, it was fine, i had some Lime Pickle with it as it wasn't too hot, i could have had sweet & sour chicken instead if i had wanted, i gave her a couple of Scrumptious apples and a pear, she will cook them in the oven with honey and put cream on, i need to thin the apples as they are quite big and a couple of the Williams Bon something are beginning to fall off, they aren't really ripe but i had one that had fallen and it was beautiful.

O/H took some cherry toms & pickled cucumber to her Mother, she enjoyed the last jar.

Mollie, No Mollie, the takeaway was tea, the brekkie was a normal English Brekkie, i didn't show that too good.

I am going to have to spend less time sitting in front of the TV/Computer at night, have a feeling it's this office swivel seat, it's like a car seat so high in front so you don't slip forward, but as i'm sitting on dear prostate it might be under pressure.

Well, it always seems to be at night when it bleeds, could be coincidence of course.

Emptybox, That's short notice for you, you could start a B&B in your spare time.

My GP had written to the consultant, it's just that intervention could have helped some, had confirmation today from the hospital, i fear this could be bigger than i first thought.

Finished the antibio's now so hope i don't have any infection still, not that i thought i did have, it was just a precaution.

Shopping list tonight, can't stay on long.:

O/H wonders why i don't get through all the dozens of meals and stuff to make meals when we keep eating out, it's not really rocket science, is it?

Hicky

Evening Hicky.
A lovely sunny day here, up to 23 degrees. Only spoilt by a strongish wind.
Got a lot done.
Also dropped into a shop and bought some bread, milk and veggies for my Saturday visitors. The milk had to sit in the hot van all day, so I hope it's OK.

Glad your new telly box came. Yes, I expect it's more complicated than the previous one, as it needs to connect to the internet for all the catch-up stuff.
That's good that you are sorting the greenhouse stuff as well, but pity the fudge was quite as it should be.
You'll just have to have a week with no eating out, to get through the surplus meals in the freezer.

Certainly, when I'm having symptoms, sitting for any length of time is painful, so sitting on a firm surface could definitely cause problems for the prostate. You'll maybe need to get one of these doughnut cushions that take the pressure off.
Must admit I now have a comfy cushion on my computer chair, and it seems to help.
Hope the consultant doesn't want you to have any more procedures.

Enjoyed CBB. Great to see Sarah mostly having a good time with the task.
I've a feeling the detectives will crack the case though, so she'll be up for eviction, and it's a double.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Not too bad today, 17c with cloud, rain and sunny spells, 17 wind.

Just had a fresh roll with bacon and tomato, just going to make tea, think i will have scallops to get rid of them.

Been doing more work on the new support bars for the greenhouse, drill the holes i need in the bars to install them to the greenhouse framework.

The gardener popped in as he was next door working, i gave him the sheers i was sorting for him, very cheap ones by the looks of them, the steel isn't marked and the top blade isn't curved enough, and whoever took them apart last put the fixing back wrong, they put the wear washer under the head of the bolt instead of under the split spring washer s the split washer had carved a groove in the sheer steelwork which then makes the tension slack and you could turn it all by finger.

I redid the fudge, found a page on the web that said raise the temp to 14/15 then let it cool to 46/50 then beat until it is trying to set, well, i did that, it looks a lot better but it isn't hard enough, look again on the web and it says it must reach 118c, this bloke that said that was actually making it for a shop, i'll have to redo it again, haven't set up the box yet, haven't had time.

Milk seems to last for ages these days, of course in the fridge it's fine a week over time.

I'd need more than a week to eat whats in the freezer, if the list has an item that says zero i reorder.

I'm using a dining chair at the moment, but it also has a higher front as you slide back into the seat, i have put a cushion on it but not sure if it will help.

I think i will need some further procedure, it can't really stay the way it is, but who knows.

I'm away on the 25th to a place in Lytham St Annes for a night, meeting up with her Sister and Hubby for a short break.

Yes, a double tonight, all good fun though, it's only a game, you wouldn't think so.

Edit. PS:

Just hat an unusual tea, i had Scallop Sandwiches, thats a first with pepper and lemon juice.

looks like I forgot to post yesterday, or forgot to press "reply" again.

Emptybox

hope you managed to get your housework done. I see you have got all your  provisions in for your visitors tomorrow, hope the milk is ok despite being in the heat. Shame you did not get much notice about the visitors. What is on the menu for them? HOpe you have a good day with them. Are the nephews/dog coming too?

Gosh 23 degrees, sounds like summer has arrived there at last, glad it meant you got a lot done, but shame it was windy. Very windy here today and wet too. Like autumn today.

Yes last nights CBB was really good with the detective thing. Good to see Sarah a bit more relaxed as you say, I so hope she is not up tonight and certainly if she is, she doesn't go, as she is my fave. How weird we don't get to hear who is up until eviction night tonight.

Hicky

hope you are pleased with your tv box when you get round to setting it up.

Sounds like you have been busy with the greenhouse.

I bet the gardner was pleased with the shears you did for him.

Hope the fudge is ok when you try again, sounds like you are nearly there now.

Worth trying different cushiions to see if they help whilst you are sitting. Not long to wait now (thanks to your relative getting the appointment) till you see what the consultant says about it. I tend to get backache and have to try different types of cushions to get comfy. Some work better than others.

That is an unusual tea you had.

It will be nice to have a night away in Lythham St Annes, I have heard it is lovely there.

Went to cardiff today, daughter had to see OU about sorting her next course out.

Son has heard he passed the grades he needs to do Uni course, so he has lots of forms to do for student finance now. It said the course can only be held if they have enough students register, so fingers crossed they do.

Went for Nandos for tea as we were in Cardiff, very nice beany burger in pitta bread I had and a mixed grain salad.

Enjoy eviction night, hope we don't lose the best characters tonight. They are really messing with evictions this series.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.
Sunshine and showers today. Got a couple of jobs done dodging the showers.
Bit too soggy to cut grass really, but I needed to get one place done.
Could've done with getting a couple of jobs done tomorrow, if it's good weather, but I can't unfortunately because of my visitors.
Just hope Monday is drier than they are forecasting.

Hicky. Scallop sandwiches sound good. You'd need the pepper and lemon juice to give them a flavour.
Still persevering with the fudge making I see.
Hope, if you do need more work done on your prostate, that it's a simple procedure. I suppose you can only wait and see what the consultant says.
That'll be nice, getting away for a night or two.

Don't think a jobbing gardener would pay a lot of money for tools anyway, as they wouldn't last long no matter what you paid, plus you might lose them at a job.
I never seem to have much luck with edging shears. They always seem to be blunt, and very difficult to sharpen up. I mean, you can sharpen the blades OK, but if they are not meeting up properly they just don't work, and don't cut the edge cleanly.

Mollie. Glad you enjoyed your nandos meal.
Must be complicated, sorting out the kids' uni courses?

Think I got most of my housework done, as I got finished early today because of the showers. Have just done the main dusting, hoovering, bathroom etc. Haven't had time to check every nook and cranny for dust this time.
I've got some lamb chops in, but not sure if they'll go for those? I've got chicken and pork as well, that just cook the same way, on a baking tray in the oven. So in theory we don't need to have the same thing.
Alternatively there's always the spag bol (which I usually have on a Saturday). But the last time we had that it wasn't too successful, as I need gluten free spaghetti, and that's more likely to stick together in the pan, especially if I'm cooking for three.

Don't expect the nephews. The oldest one is in the Far East on a Merchant Navy ship (en route to China at the mo, I believe), so he definitely won't be there. Doubt the younger one will bother with his old Uncle either. In fact last I heard he was staying with some friends in the Midlands, so might not even be at home either.

Really glad Sarah wasn't up for eviction.
Not surprised that Brandi went, but was really surprised that Paul followed her. I would have thought he would have more fans than Helen or Derek?

ETA: Forgot to say that I was sad to hear that Bruce Forsyth has popped his clogs.

Evening Both.

A bit of a cloudy day, some sun but rain also, 17c with 21 wind.

Redid the vanilla fudge again, heated to 118c waited till it cooled to 50c then beat it, but it was pretty hard to beat so after a few minutes i tried to get it into the tray, what a job, but it seems fine, going to cover some pieces in chocolate tomorrow.

Did a bit more work on the new greenhouse vine framework but weather not good enough to take glass out so made the section that goes from the first vertical to the roof sections.

Made a normal English breakfast and had Tagliatelle Bolognaise for tea.

O/H got 2 weeks off work from today, which is good.

Mollie, If you had forgotten to press post yesterday you would know because it would either be still in the post box or if you pressed F5 to refresh it would ask if you wanted to lose the post.

Haven't really got anything to put on a chair except cushions, but they don't seem to help.

Had more blood last night, it used to be 2 weekly, then one weekly, now it's only been 3 days, oh well.

Glad your son passed the grades he needed, can only hope he gets on the course.

Never heard of a Beany Burger.

Well, thats Paul and Brandi gone, surprised about Paul although i don't really like him.

Emptybox, Hope the day goes ok with your Brother there, another day lost at work probably.

The main problem with cheap sheers is that the steel is inferior and maybe the curve you need on the top blade is either not put on to start with or the metal isn't hard enough and the blade straightens over time, it's the curve in the blade that allows the cutting if you can't hear the blades rubbing as you close them then they are scrap unless they can be tightened a bit, it's the same problem with most scissors as well.

Yes, poor old Bruce, RIP, he seemed to be around for ever didn't he? remember him in so many shows over the years.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Sunshine and showers again, but that didn't matter, as we were mostly sitting inside chatting or watching the telly.
Visit went well, and the lamb chops seemed to go down a treat.
We had patÃĐ and salad for lunch, using one of my own tomatoes (there was only one ready). Then the potatoes we had with the lamb were freshly dug from my own garden.

That's good that the fudge seemed to work this time.
Nice for your OH to get a couple of weeks off.
Sounds like your prostate thing might need more treatment, if it's getting worse.

Looks like Sarah and Chad have got together and then broken up again in the course of one boozy evening?

Evening Emptybox.

A cool day here, 17c cloud and some sunny spells, rain just now, it said rain at 7pm but it came early.

Took a car load of stuff to the recycle dump, cardboard, metal, hard plastic, electrical, carpets and rubbish, got more room in the garage now, we collect it till be get a car full.

Then went for brekkie.

Just had a nice big roast lamb dinner, so nice.

Did one end of the greenhouse, put the new framework in, quite a job as you are so restricted with hole positions because of the sections have limited area for fixings because of the glass, thats one half done, can't do the back until i can get into the corner which is blocked with cucumber plants.

The gardener had dropped off a Bosch ASG 52 branch cutter, very nice but it's blowing fuses, during testing i took the handle to bits to see if i could see a short, i noticed the capacitor has gone, it's  a 0,1pf 250c suppression filter but all the companies that have spares don't have one, searched everywhere.

There is a machine in Essex going for a song but you have to pick it up, it's being sold because you can't get spare chains, i have the chain, but can't get down to pick it up.

Made a few of the fudge pieces into chocolate covered now.

Might try and redo the chocolate fudge tomorrow.

Glad they enjoyed the Lamb chops, i usually get the French trimmed ones as they are so tender.

My toms are changing colour at a fast speed, another lot ready now.

Sarah and Chad would be ok if all the others left them alone instead of stirring it.

More evictions Tuesday.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

so glad the visit went well, I bet they were impressed by being served home grown produce. Lucky you still had that one ripe tomato for the visit. That's good they were happy with the choice of lamb too.

Yes I remember you said your nephew had joined the merchant navy, he should certainly get to see a bit of the world now.

Let's hope the weather is ok for you to catch up next week now.

Hicky

that's good you got brekkie out after the trip to the tip.

Sorry the blood has come back so soon again, good job you don't have long till your appointment now.

shame you can't get the part for the branch cutter, and Essex is so far away for you to collect.

HOpe the rest of the choc fudge is ok tomorrow.

I usually hate showmances on BB, but Sarah and Chad are great, so funny. As you say HIcky, it is a shame the others don't leave them alone, seems there is a bit of jeolousy there. Shaun actually said it was unfair for people to pair up, he should just get on with trying to entertain us instead of criticising others.

Have been feeling in pain with my ribs again, wish I knew what sets it off, but I know when I feel it start if I don't rest it straight away, it gets worse, which it did yesterday whilst we were out. Kept me awake most of the night, daughter got me hot water bottle around 1am to help and I took more painkillers. Lucky today my private carer was able to stand in with mum and son took stuff over to mums flat after OH  and daughter had been to asda to get her shopping.

Looking forward to CBB and the new task tonight.

Have a good evening both xxx

Hi both.
It's been a nice sunny day here. Didn't do much except the normal supermarket run.

Hicky. That's handy being able to take your junk to the tip. I've got quite a lot of stuff to get rid of, but am wary of turning up in my van, in case they want to charge me as a business user. As I've got a couple of old mowers to get rid of, it'd be hard to claim they were domestic waste.
Well done getting the greenhouse fixings done.

Has the gardener given you the branch cutter, or are you just trying to mend it for him?
I could do with you closer to me, to maintain my gardening gear. I'm no good at the engineering/maintaining stuff. More of a bodger me.
Glad your tomatoes are all coming ready. Perhaps I'll get a glut later? There are 4 or 5 on the verge of being ready.

Not sure what "French trimmed" means, in terms of lamb chop? Is that just a different way of presenting them?
Instead of chops, today I bought some lamb leg steaks to try. Think they were a wee bit cheaper than the chops?

Mollie. Pity you are suffering rib pain again. Hope it eases soon. That's good that you were able to arrange a carer for your Mum at short notice. And your daughter was a help.

Think the oldest nephew is enjoying seeing that part of the world. He's stopped off in Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia (Paciffic island) and I thing Singapore, and now going to China. He doesn't get back till early December.
But he's also finding it difficult as I think there's only one other English speaking trainee on board, and he's on a completely different watch, so they hardly meet. The rest of the crew don't speak English.
Just hope it doesn't put him off the Merchant Navy, and he continues his land-based training, when he gets back.

I like the Sarah and Chad thing as well.

Evening Both.

A miserable day here, 18c but cloud all day, bit of rain as well.

Had a go at redoing the chocolate fudge, managed to get it a bit hotter this time, tried to add some white choc chips when it cooled some but they melted, put some on when it had cooled more, it seems ok, i've cut it into small squares which will do, it's very rich though.

The telescopic mini chain saw blew the circuit breaker, took the handle to bits, the condenser has blown it's to stop interference, anyway, the spare parts companies don't have spares for that so entered the details in google and found a similar one, its .01uf suppression filter 250v found one on Ebay so have bought that, worth a try, could try it without but not sure how much interference it would cause so i'll have to wait.

Had a ribeye steak with mushrooms and seasoned with my homemade spice rub.

I've been deleting loads of recording, the ones that i kept i have been watching so i can change the box over and start again, got 1 program left to watch.

Mollie,  With 6 up for eviction and a double should be interesting tomorrow, Sara is down to win the show with Chad 2nd.

I suppose with them being so bored the only thing to do is talk about all the others, don't understand why they don't have a games room like the other countries have.

Sorry to hear about you pain again, thats bad news, that sure is bad if it keeps you awake.

Emptybox, Yes, taking stuff in a van could be suspicious, can't you get someone else to take them for you?

The branch cutter belongs to next door i think, they gave it to the gardener to see if he could sort it, he gave it to me as he hadn't a clue what to do, next door wouldn't use it as they are very old. it was probably stuck in the garage taking up space.

You could give you toms a feed of Epsom Salt, a tablespoon to a gallon, and some tomorite/seaweed stuff.

The French trimmer is when 7 ribs are still joined, very young lamb, the bone is showing after the meat end, the meat if taken off, you normally see a little hat on each bone.

Rack of Lamb French Trimmed
A Rack of Lamb, French Trimmed

This is the most tender of chops i've ever tasted, i cut these and put on the BBQ

Emptybox

hope the weather was ok for you to get some work done today.

Gosh your nephew is going to some places already, but it must be so hard for him being away from home so young with very few speaking English.

Oh yes I think they do charge vans at our tip for taking rubbish, Could you not go and take it on several visits in the car?

Hicky

your fudge sounds like it is going to taste real yummy.

I hope the part you located does the job you need it to ok.

Rained most of the day but cleared up around an hour ago.

Still have some pain in my ribs, but better than yesterday. It usually takes a few days to clear when I get it. Damn nuisance.

Has the bleeding stopped yet Hicky? HOpe so.

Looking foward to CBB tonight.

I am not happy Sarah and Chad are up, so hope they don't go, there are quite a few boring HM's left, at least that pair are not boring!

I think it slipped Sarah's mind that the cameras can see what she is doing in the dark at night.

Have a good evening both xxx

Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Lovely sunny day here. Up to 25 degrees by lunchtime. It did dull over a bit in the afternoon, but stayed dry and calm. Bit of rain this evening though.
Got a couple of big grass cutting jobs out of the way, because the forecast isn't all that good.

Hicky. That's nice of you trying to fix the branch cutter for your neighbour.
Sounds like you are finally getting somewhere with your fudge.
Thanks for the tip about epsom salts for the toms.  I picked 2 this morning, and there are 4 or 5 ones just about there.
Ah yes, I've seen that rack of lamb in butchers (and in pics). Didn't realise that was French trimmed.

Mollie. Only have the van now. I sold the car for spares and repair over a year ago, if you remember.
Pity you still have the pain, but hope it goes soon.
Sarah and Chad wouldn't have done their odds any good today with their silly row. Not sure why she lost her temper with him? She's her own worst enemy.
I Iike watching her as a HM, but she'd be a nightmare as a girlfriend I would think.

emptybox

Evening Both,

Pretty warm but cloudy here, 23c cloud, sunny spells, rain expected tonight, wind 13.

Just had bacon and tomato on toast sandwiches, made a Tagliatelle Carbonara for tea with prawns bacon and sliced mushroom.

Making a trap to catch the grey squirrel, but don't have any food to put in the trap.

Gave my neighbour some fudge, tomato's and cucumber, sent some fudge down to the girls, they might be coming to see me tomorrow as well.

Have got pains in my left upper arm, now shoulder, unless i'm coming down with something, started Saturday.

Be interesting to see who gets evicted tonight, a double as well.

Mollie, That batch of fudge is fine, will be making more of that.

The part for the branch cutter down't come till the end of the month.

It's strange really, i only get some blood for 1 wee, next one clear again, don't know why, been clear since Friday, have a pillow on my seat for now.

Yes, those night camera's are so handy at night.

Emptybox,  At least you got some grass jobs done, make hay while the rain stops.

If you see one of those racks of lamb trimmed again, get one, they are better than any chops, in fact we don't buy chops now just those racks.

Still haven't set the new box up, will have to do it before i go away Friday for 2 days

so glad you got the good weather , so got some lawns done.

Sounds like your tomatoes are coming on nicely now,

Silly me, of course I remember now, you only have the van.

Howabouts next time your brother comes, you ask him to load his car with your junk and ask him to take you to the tip. Your SIL could stay in your house and do the housework to save you doing it. (the only problem being, they might not want to come and see you again in future).

Yes Sarah and Chad, what a daft pair they are.

Chad seemed to find the whole row funny, some couples do seem to thrive on a good argument though. They are both still my fave HM;s in there now. the others are either dead boring or real nasty like Jemma is.

Hicky

I bet your neighbour was pleased with what you gave her and bet the girls really enjoy the fudge.

Sorry you have a pain in your shoulder/upper arm. Hope it eases soon. Do you think you pulled a muscle? Have you needed to take any pain  relief?

My ribs too are still painfull, but not as bad today, so have got away without any pain relief (so far) other than my TENS machine. When it is bad I take ibuprofen and the paracetomol/aspirin/caffeine mix tablets I get from the supermarket, which does seem to help. But I don't like to do that for more than a couple of days.  (luckily usually don't have to, and fingers crossed I dont ).

That is fortunate you only get the blood for one day, let's hope the pillow helps your problem.

I hope the weather will be good for your couple of days away. I expect it will be quite busy when you travel as it is bank hol weekend, but at least you don't have far to travel do you? Are you in a hotel or staying with family?

Really warm and sticky today but got lots of washing dried.

Have to go to Cardif with daughter to help sort her Uni course out tomorrow, so I am hoping my ribs don't give me a problem as we have to go on the train. Will take my pain killer tablets with me just in case.

CBB....Gosh yes wonder who will go tonight with 2 going? I so hope it is not Sarah or Chad.

Enjoy the show.

have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

A rather dull day here, mainly cloud some sun, no rain, 19c with 12 wind.

Have finished the squirrel trap, got no food to put in it though, yet.

Gave a banana Petter with some toms to O/H for her salad.

Will be putting some toms in a bag for her mum in the morning.

Been on Paracetamol today, ache seems to be moving to my shoulder blade, seem to have a few occasions of some small pimple thingie as well, some on my right knee some on my right elbow inner.

I only get the blood for one wee, not one day, last time was 18th.

We are staying in a hotel but will meet up with her sister and hubby during the day.

Yes, take your tablets with you, if they don't act too quick maybe take some before you go.

Antoher eviction tonight but we wont find out who till tomorrow night.

Hicky

both

No Emptybox yesterday. HOpe he is ok, maybe too busy enjoying the eviction and livefeed to post?

Good to have a bit of livefeed, I recorded and watched it today.

Hicky

sorry you had to take pain relief today. The pimply thing sounds odd. Could it be a touch of that adult chicken pox thing? (forget what it is called), or can a bit of arthritus give you that?

I hope you will feel ok whilst you are away and have an enjoyable few days, a nice treat to stay in a hotel.

I took pain relief before I left for Cardiff,I was still uncomfy but was not too bad. Used my TENS machine all the time I was out though. Daughter got her next course sorted out at the OU, and then we came back as I didnt feel up to shopping today.

Not a bad day here today, not as hot as yesterday thank goodness as it was so uncomfy overnight.

So another back door eviction, I hate them, and it is annoying how we don't even know till tomorrow who goes.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening guys.
I must have forgotten to post yesterday.
Muggy day here with some sunshine late afternoon. A little drizzle this morning.

Went to the optician this morning. Good news is that my prescription is more or less the same, so I don't need new specs.
Bad news is I have to go back in a fortnight to repeat the field of vision test. You know the one where you look into a box and click the clicker whenever you see a green light. Seemingly I missed a few on the top right. Optician says it's likely a false result and it'll be OK next time. But I guess if I get the same result in a fortnight it might mean I've got a small blind spot, and would have to go for further tests.

I'm not going to worry, as my vision seems fine, and not changed in any way, and I've had no other symptoms like headaches or anything.
Also I had bad symptoms this morning, and had to ask the optician if they had a toilet while I was there. So I was probably not paying enough attention to the test.
I've had to take 3 lots of Ibuprofen today to try to get rid of the symptoms. Not bad tonight though.

Hicky. Sorry to hear you're a bit off colour, with aches and pains. Wonder what the rash is? Might be Shingles as Mollie suggests? But I think the rash for that is on the torso?
Yes I hope you'll be fine while you are away.

What will you do with the squirrel if you catch it? Hope you are not planning another unusual brekkie?

Mollie. Good idea taking your tens machine with you to Cardiff. Hope your rib pain gets better soon.
That's good that your daughter got her courses sorted out.
Not sure my bro would be happy loading old mowers into his immaculate company Range Rover? But I'm sure my SiL would just love to get stuck into my housework.

Yes, a back door eviction again.
Hopefully Sarah and Chad are safe.
Was good to see the Taco task today, and see them all having fun together.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

The capacitor for the branch cutter came, while i was fitting it i decided to solder the 2 joints in the wires, i have an old gas pencil soldering iron so thought i would use that, turned on the gas an lit the end, the whole lot burst into flames engulfing my left hand, i quickly put it in a bucket of cold water as it stung some.

Changed my mind and binned that idea, literally, had to do with twisting bending and taping, the cutter works fine now, thats all that was wrong with it, i rang the gardener to tell him.

Didn't get much sleep last night, so much pain all night, nearly rang the docs this morning but changed my mind, had a lot more blotches all over the same arm, O/H said they are all bites, wow, whats going on, she got me some Anthisan to put on the spots/bites.

Not going away tonight, i'm too uncomfortable, it wouldn't be a pleasure.

Had an invite to a wedding in Hawaii in December, interesting eh.

Hope you eyes are fine, they have to last a long time.

I wonder what brought your symptoms on, something must trigger the start.

If i get a squirrel in the trap i will neutralise it, it might end up as food for the creatures in the area attached to my garden, you are not allowed to let the grey ones go, but one or two attack dozens of houses in the area, they decimate gardens and plant more trees that the forest commission as they bury acorns but forget where most of them are, plus they have eradicated most of the Red Squirrels in the country.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
another nice dry day here, so got plenty done.

Sorry you felt bad last night and have had to put off your break away.
I suppose it could be bites? But if you are getting aches and pains and don't feel well, then it could be an infection or allergic reaction?
If you're not improving tomorrow I would definitely think about bothering the doctor.

Oh yes, I'd heard that you were not allowed to put grey squirrels back in the wild.
I've got a couple living in the big beech tree at the back, and I often see them on the back lawn.
A few years ago there were red squirrels there, but now just greys.

That's interesting about a wedding in Hawaii in December. Are you not already going abroad to your son's wedding sometime? Or is this the same wedding?

As I say, I have never had a problem with my vision (apart from needing specs), and can't see any fuzzy spots, and seem to have good peripheral vision, so not sure why I missed some of the points. But hopefully I won't have symptoms the next time, and can properly concentrate.
A blind spot would be a sign of another condition like glaucoma or a tumour on the nerve somewhere.
But the optician had a good look in my eyes as part of the exam, and obviously didn't see anything to worry her?

It was strange about the symptoms, as I hadn't had any for fully a month, and just on the day when I didn't want them, on they came.
None today, but getting a slight feeling again tonight. But they usually last a few days when they come on anyway.
I wasn't anxious about the opticians visit, as I get on well with her, but I was worried about needing a pee while I was there, as it's quite a long examination, so whether that was enough to bring it on, I don't know.
Had a couple of twinges in the days before, so it was obviously building up.
Might also have something to do with the fact that it's been warmer here the last few days, and I've been sweating at work, so perhaps getting a bit dehydrated? Although i thought I was drinking plenty?

Sounds like your gas soldering iron is now dangerous. Unless you left the gas on too long before you lit it?
Anyway glad you've managed to fix the branch cutter without needing to solder it.

Glad Sarah and Chad survived the back door eviction.
Don't know why they do BOTS from the House nowadays. It's not a surprise anymore.
Felt a bit sorry for Amelia tonight.

Sorry you have had symptoms again, not nice if you have had to have 3 lots of ibuprofen. No wonder you are not sure how you did on the sight test as you were concerned about the symptoms. It does seem to show a pattern in that last time you had it, you had been working in the heat. Maybe you are not drinking as much fluid as you think you are, or under estimating what you really need. I did read somewhere we need lots and lots more if outdoors when it is warm and you said it was 25 the other day and muggy another, which you don't usually get. But as you say, you might also of got a bit stressed about getting symptoms when you had to go for the test? What a nuisance you have to go back, but hopefully you will be ok next time. (it shouldn't take so long either, should it?). Hope it has cleared today.

Did you get out to work today?

Yes I felt sorry for Amelia particularly how Jordan and Sam did that task and made her look a fool. But she is weak in that she has been far too keen to try and impress Jemma with her running telling tales about the others, that I have found I can't support her. So hope Sarah wins. I don't know what horrid Jemma is still dong in there!

Hicky

Gosh, you could of got badly injured with the gas iron! Hope your hand is ok and didn't blister from the burn. Good job you had a bucket of cold water.

What a shame you felt unwell and had to cancel your few days away. How are you now? Hope you are better and slept better. The chemist told me he has been inundated with people suffering from bad bites this summer. I blame all that hot weather we got at the begging of summer for these horrid critters being around. I still have a big scar on my leg from the nasty bite I got.

I too was not right yesterday, pain in ribs too bad to even post here, but slept a bit better last night. Have taken aspirin today instead of paracetomol as I saw the doc on This Morning and think it is a trapped nerve and aspirin is supposed to be better for this. I am hoping it eases soon, as fed up of taking pain relief and using my TENS and hot water bottle!

Seems all 3 of us have had horrible health problems recently.

That's nice your wedding invite for Hawaii has arrived. Did you decide to go via USA and stop over? Or are you just going to Hawaii for the wedding? Should give you a nice dose of good weather in the middle of our winter any way. Is you son sorting all the travel arrangements out for you?

Stayed home today as need to try and get rid of my pains, so can't do too much. Rang the docs to get it checked, next appointment is 22 Sept!   So I just keep using Dr Google till then to see what I can take for it, and will take it easy till it clears.

CBB...Looking forward to the final but am also sad the series is over after today and no BB till next year then!

Enjoy the final.

Let's hope we all have better health next week. xxx

M

Evening Both.

An 18c miserable day, just cloud and cloud, i think i saw a glimpse of sun.

I went to bed at 10.15 last night to try and make up some sleep.

Got a bit more sleep, still a lot of pain, took some Paracetamol though, my arm and body looks as though it has been attacked by an infestation of insects, i couldn't count the bites, Piranha's come to mind, the pain seems to have moved to my r/shoulder more, with so many bites i can't tell which bit is worse.

Been taking some of the not needed supports on the frame of the external vine, also made so elasticated links for the greenhouse vine frame as i want easy to remove support system, then i can just add the cords as needed, they will run from one end to the other in the greenhouse.

Watched some practices for the F1 at Belgium, more tomorrow.

Emptybox, The grey squirrels carry something that kills red squirrels but doesn't harm the grey ones.

It's the same wedding, going to be quite something.

On the soldering iron, never had a problem before but maybe a seal has gone, when i opened the valve to send gas to the soldering end i should just be able to light the nd but the flame shot back and set light to the whole thing, it enveloped my left hand that was holding the iron, i threw the iron down and put the flames out, binned it.

Yes, it was mean for Jordan to set Sam u, he's so jealous of him thats why he did it.

Having Bots in the house saves hiring the studio doesn't it?

Mollie, Yes, my man shed is by 2 water buts and i keep buckets of water for rinsing veg etc so used one of those, couldn't believe how much it hurt, but it hasn't left a mark.

I don't know what the itinerary is yet, will probably be a months trip, not sure about travel arrangements yet.

Yes, we need a clear health week.

Have a good eviction night anyway.

Hicky

Evening both.
Cool, cloudy and windy here, but at least it stayed dry.
Cut some grass and cut a couple of hedges. Will have to work tomorrow though.

So glad Sarah won BB. I just really liked her for some reason.
Never noticed her in Girls Aloud. She was always the one whose name I forgot.
But I think she was genuine in there, flaws and all.
Kind of think her and Chad are real as well. But may not last long, as she certainly has issues to sort out.

Mollie. Sorry you are still being affected by your rib pain. Hope the asprin helps.
That's a long time to wait for a docs appointment?
No real symptoms for me today thankfully. I'm easily drinking a litre and a half when I'm out working and it's hot, but perhaps that's not enough? Luckily today was cool so not so important.

Hicky. Sorry you are still in pain from your 'bites', and that you had to go to bed early yesterday.
Yes the trip to Hawaii is something to look forward to.
Good idea to throw out the faulty soldering iron.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Spent most of the day watching F1, Lewis Pole again but Vettel with him on front row.

Didn't do much outside.

Still got pain, it must be from the bites, put more Anthisan cream on them, under my arm looks terrible, even to me, trying to keep air on my arms so just got short sleeve shirt on.

Had an email off my lad in Oz with a spreadsheet of itinerary.

Sat 25th Nov, Fly to Singapore for 3 days visit beach and city, 29th fly to Sydney for 12 nights, visit tour bus, dinner cruise, crocodile park, Bondi, Blue Mountains, 12 Dec fly to Hawaii for 8 nights, 16th Wedding, 20th fly tp LA for 3 nights, 23rd fly to NY for 4 nights, 27th fly to Manchester, only 6 planes.

I thought Amelia might overtake Sarah but obviously it's down to fanbase, didn't realise Amelia never a got even one nomination all the way through.

Hope your pain sin't too bad Mollie, nothing worse, i'm still missing out on sleep.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Sorry to hear you are still having pain from your insect bites.
I wonder what could have happened? Did you lay down on an ant's nest or something? Has your OH been affected?

Bit of a dull day here, but warmer than yesterday. Got a couple of jobs done, but it became drizzly late afternoon.

That's quite some itinerary. The trip of a lifetime for sure.
In New York for Christmas eh?

No, I didn't realise Amelia hadn't had one nomination. That's pretty good.
Although she never got into any arguments, so I suppose no one had a reason to nominate her.
I guess Sarah had a big fanbase already, but I only knew her by name before. I supported her only because of what she did on BB. If she hadn't been bullied by the others early on, I'm not sure I would have been behind her as much though?

Just watched the Tom Hanks film 'Captain Philips'. Hadn't seen it before.

Emptybox

that is good you managed to get a few jobs done the last couple of days.

Glad you now seem symptom free, keep up with the fluids.

I am with you and so pleased Sarah won, as you say, she was real genuine, if not without her flaws. She is obviously a very vulnerable and senstive indidual. I hope when she sees some of her OTT behaviour, she'll try and improve it, she will need to, if she wants to keep her relationship going. I hope it works out with Chad for her, as he seems a nice enough guy.

Hicky

hope the pain from the bites has eased, what a nuisance they are, especially as they are meaning you lose sleep. When my leg got infected from one, I also had multiple bites that swelled up, around 10 just under my knee, but it was just this one that went infected. HOpe yours start to calm down now. Are you taking any anti histamine? They told me to, you can get them cheap from supermarkets.

Wow, that is one holiday of a lifetime agenda. You are certainly going to see a lot of places. So you will be in New York for Christmas? I have heard the shops are done out real nice there over Christmas. Will the rest of the family be with you there ? You will need a broad variation of clothes as Oz will be so hot then and New York very cold. Hawaii I assume is warm all year round?

Couldn't post yesterday because of rib pain. It seems I am in real bad pain for a few hours when I get up, then discomfort the rest of the day from my rib, this is the is the worst it has even been.  Luckily I do seem able to sleep for 7 hours before it wakes me up, but I do take aspirin before bed.
Googled my symptoms and think it is trapped nerve in the rib cage, google said it can happen after ops involving chest cavity as nerves in the chest cavity have been moved. I have had mild/moderate intermettent pain since the ops, but this last week has been the worst. Will see if doc will refer me when I see her. (after my month's wait for an appointment!). Meanwhile all I can do is wait till it eases and use my TENS, hot water bottle and pain relief.

Family went to to Ikea today and Costco, I couldn't go because of the pains, and  I also had to get carer to do extra hours as I can't look after mum today.Sat on the swing chair for awhile, but this awful sweltering heat is back again, so couldnt sit out for long.

Am going to watch "Victoria" tonight, glad to see it back as I missed BB last night, ended up watching old recordings of A and E as nothing else of interest.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi Mollie.
Cloudy and chilly up here today. Needed a jumper for the first time in a little while.
Went to the supermarket as usual. Forgot to cut my grass though, so I'll have to try to get that done through the week.

There's been someone here putting in a new sitting room window for my next door neighbour today. My window is just as badly needing replaced, but no sign of my one being done as yet. Maybe my neighbour complains to the landlady more than I do.

Sorry your pain has been as bad Mollie. And if it's hot by you, that'll just make things worse.
You could be right in your trapped nerve diagnosis. Not sure what they would do for that though?
Glad you could get a carer for your Mum.

Yes, I'm going to watch Victoria as well tonight.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Went to bed at 9pm again, got some sleep and didn't get up till 8.45am, got up in the night though as usual.

Went out for brekkie to Carr Farm, usual sausage, egg, beans and hash browns, just had a curry form the freezer, beef Madras, they also sell everything under the sun, we got some clothes as needed for various parts of the travel.

Got some Peanut butter but couldn't get peanuts in shell and the loose peanut bags were to big so just put some p/butter in the trap for now, didn't see any sunflower seeds either and the squirrel has eaten all my sunflowers.

We now have all the tickets for the whole journey, also the Singapore hotel booking voucher, it's the Marina Mandarin Singapore Hotel 5* when you look at the pictures online, it's a Wow.

Not calling in to LA, going straight to NY so will have about 6 days there.

Emptybox, Think the bites are Mosquito and it must have got trapped somehow, must have 100 bites, dreadful, you can feel ants bite, and see them on you but never saw a thing.

I'll be in Hawaii for my Birthday and Christmas in NY, you don't do that every year.

Watched the F1 today, Lewis won again, keep looking for programs to watch on TV.

Mollie, I took an anti histamine tablet and am using the Anthisan cream to limit the stinging.

I think my lad will be with us and his bride, i'm not sure but i imagine we all meat up in Sydney, could be wrong, must check.

If it is a trapped nerve how do you get it un-trapped?

Just watching The True story of the Mary Celeste.

It's getting hard to find things to watch, love those, How it's Made & How do they do it.

Hicky

Evening Emptybox.

Still in pain but not as bad as it's been, took another table, put more cream on, took some paracetamol, nearly went to the walk in centre, been trying to find places were it doesn't pain so much so keep wandering around the house/garden.

Just making a curry, Flank Steak Madras, putting chopped up cooked potatoes in it to try again without rice as they don't soak up the gravy, cooked the Flank first in the oven, got onions and chopped toms in as well.

Have now watched or deleted all the recorded programs on the old box, ready to change over any time now.

took a dozen apples off the Scrumptious tree and stored them in the garage, thought as they are almost ripe they might keep better, got 6 types of apple, one of the plum trees is becoming ripe as well, have eaten the other trees fruit.

I think it's also cheaper if you book early, and the hotel in Singapore is part of the flight as well.

Hope Mollie is ok with her pain, nothing worse.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Cloudy and windy today, but not too cold.
Got plenty done.

Hope the paracetamol helps your pain. Glad it's not as bad now.
Also hope you enjoyed your nice curry.
Hope the apples store well in the garage.

You could always keep your old box connected to the TV just to finish watching your old recordings, if you've got enough HDMI sockets to connect the new one as well.
Yes I think booking early is usually cheaper.

Watched that 'In Solitary' prog with George Lamb, where they were kept alone in pods for 5 days with very little to do, and no contact with anyone.
