glad you got a nice day yesterday and was able to do your grass, go to supermarket and watch tennis too.

Yes I too heard it is not good to take ibuprofen for extensive periods. But of course it is best to take it when you need it to help the inflammation when it is sore. Sorry you felt unwell yesterday. How are you today? Yes let's hope you are good health wise this week as you have a lot of work on.

Hicky

that's good you had nice weather again today. Much better here today than at the weekend. But when I went to sit outside on the swingchair, there seemed to be a lot of little wasps around, so I came indoors. When OH came home he said it is not just our house with all these mini wasps, he could see a lot of them when he drove home. Then later tonight we got lots of flying ants! Let's hope the insect life goes somewhere else and quick.

I am sure your next door neighbour is very grateful to be living next door to a market garden that is free!

Hope the visit to the chiropodist tomorrow goes well.

The tax office is useless! We have an accountant and she hates any dealings she has with them. She set up OH's tax online and had endless problems setting up passwords etc. So I hope you have more luck. If you are that much in credit, whey can't they just send you a cheque? I had a cheque last year, but haven't a clue why and it was ages after the new tax year started!

Got all the washing dry today, there was plenty of it as we had had rain for 2 days.

Do you think Emptybox might benefit from a course of antibiotics, as it did eventually clear up your problem didn't it? Or maybe Emptybox's problem is different so wouldn't benefit from this, as he does have other meds for it already?

Looking forward to the BB money stealing thing tonight. Let' s hope it is interesting and it is going to amount to a large amount, else it won't have much effect.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.

A nice warm sunny day here, about 23 degrees. A little breeze at times, so not too hot.
Only downside was there was a lot of little flies. May have been flying ants, not sure? I was trying to cut a hedge, and they were flying all round my head and going into my mouth.
I've still got some of that stuff you sent me Mollie, so I'll try that tomorrow, as I'll be cutting more hedges.

I was cutting a lawn, and the sole came off my boot.
It was a bit loose before, but i didn't expect it to actually come off while I was working. Had to finish the lawn in what was left of the boot. Then I went to a shop and bought a new pair of safety boots and put them on, before I did my next job.

I haven't had any symptoms today, so that shows it's not an infection, so antibiotics wouldn't be of any use.
I was prescribed anti-biotics at the start, before they knew what it was, and they do have an anti inflammatory effect so did work, but unless you have a bacterial infection ABs are not the thing to take.

Mollie, pity you had to contend with insect life as well.
That's good that you got your washing dried.
The money thing hasn't been very interesting so far, but Rylan revealed that they are going to get the chance of big money if they evict one of the other HMs.
That's rather stupid as they might well evict one of the public's favourites.

Hi Hicky. Sounds like HMRC owes you quite a lot of money. As Mollie says, why can't they just send you a cheque? They seem very disorganised.
Yes your neighbour must be saving a fortune in veggies having you next door.

Evening Both.:

Not a bad day really, very sunny 25c with slight breeze.

Had my Podiatry appointment this morning, then we went for brekkie as O/H wanted to look for a jacket, have some occasions coming up soon, she has bought a dress but wanted something to go with it.

Have ordered a new small frying pan to go with the other 20" as i prefer 2 for most brekkies, this one is a ProCook Ceramic induction one, can compare to non stick which are pretty hopeless.

Mollie, Talking about hmrc rebates, some years they told me i could get some of the money back from my credit, but in order to do that i first would have to stop paying them, i would have to cancel my direct debit then restart it again, well i didn't do that, i will wait and see what they come up with.

I have access to 3 hmrc sites, but from each you can't get the the other, there must be about 10,000 pages which is ridiculous, i couldn't even find were i could log in, i have 3 lots of logging details and passwords but haven't founf even one gives me any info i wanted.

The prostate problem and antibiotics have nothing in common, think Emptybox's problem is just the prostate, but i can't see it getting better without some intervention.

My infection was nothing to do with the prostate it was purely either from the kidneys or the bladder i suppose, but i would say it was kidneys as mine are not perfect.

I read about the money task on another site, should be interesting.

Emptybox, Oh dear, flying insects attacking you, not nice, but the sole coming off your boot, thats unusual, glad you were able to get some more.

About the prostate, i assume that it has a valve within somewhere, which i no longer have, originally to be able to pee you have to get  2 valves to open together, i had 1 opening but the prostate one was getting week then the Hip Op anaesthetic stopped it working for some reason and then i had to train the second muscle to shut off the flow by itself which took a few days i think, i had to do clenching exercises.

HMRC don't really owe me much at all, they haven't taken the January money out and most of the rest is to pay the 31st July payment so it only leaves a couple of hundred at the most, and all this is just paying off past bills, i think Jan & July are to pay 2016/17.

It's hard to believe they don't like you being in credit, i remember getting interest once because they had my money.

Empybox

How weird, you got lots of flying insects too yesterday, Olly got them too and she is in Luton, so looks like they covered most of the country yesterday. Luckily they seemed to of disappered here today, hope they have for you too. They must be awful for you with that many of them, even going in your mouth when you are trying to work. Glad to see you still have my spray, hope it protected you from bites if the damn insects were still around today. I always use it in summer when I go in the garden now, I did forget a couple of weeks ago though and got bitten.

Pleased to hear you had no symptoms, as you say the antibiotics are useless unless it is a bacterial infection. All you can do I guess is to try and monitor to see if you can see there is anything specific that kicks off your conditon. I know you are already watching what you eat and the effect it has though.

Hicky

what a joke that tax office is! You had similiar problems with using them online to what my accountant had. She said dealing with them if the worst part of her job.

I guess there is no chance now of them paying interest for any money they owe anyone any more is there?

Glad you made it out for brekkie, how nice you have some special occasions coming up that OH had to get a new frock and jacket for. Is it birthday/wedding type stuff? I know you are due the big trip around Novemeber isn't it?

BB...That is good that they are going to be playing for big money soon.  Do we really think any of them will prove they are only there for the experience and are not interested in the money? (as HM's often say they are). Be interesting to see.

Been too hot and muggy here today, horrible, will be hard for sleeping tonight. The dog refused to go for a walk, the rabbit just lied around tired all day and carers told me my mum was more tired than usually and couldn't eat all of ther dinner at day centre. Hope it is cooler tomorrow.

Watched Hotel Inspector, liked tha programme.

Looking forward to BB now to see what happens with the cash thing.

Enjoy the show xxx

Evening both.
Another lovely sunny warm day. Again about 23 degrees, but more of a breeze than yesterday. No problems with insects today, so perhaps the breeze kept them away.
I think they were flying ants yesterday going by the pics, so perhaps they were flying over the whole country as you say Mollie.
I did use your spray today, but it wasn't really needed.
Pity it was too hot for you today, but I think it's back to cooler again by the end of the week.

No symptoms today, so that's good.
Don't think there are any valves as such in the bladder or prostate Hicky. Think it's all down to muscles.
That's good that you were able to retrain your muscles after your TURP op, I've read that can be a problem for some.

Hicky, good idea to combine a brekkie out and some shopping with your foot appointment.
Ah I see, you still pay tax twice a year, so all that credit is not due to come to you.
I use the HMRC self assesment website to file my tax returns, and that is difficult to navigate as well. It's quite difficult to find my account details. It could be designed a lot better.

Seemingly someone has taken the money and has evicted one of the other HMs, don't know who yet. Think the evicted one stays in till Friday though?

Evening Both.

Not bad today, 24c with cloud sun and just now rain, it has gone very dark infact.

Re-potted 2 new tomato plants i grew from seed, worth a try, hope it's not too late for them.

Had a nice brekkie of fried sliced baby pots and bacon with beans.

Just been out for tea, had olives and balsamic vinegar with bread and fried sea bass with buttered new spuds and runner beans with some sauce.

My new frying pan came, very nice, it's so much better for brekkie having 2 small frying pans.

Mollie, One of the future occasions is a Baptism but i probably won't go to that, another is a Birthday of one of O/H's brothers.

For any of the HM's to say they aren't interested in the money then BB should make a list of who is and leave the others off, that would sort that problem out, and if you aren't on the list then you can't take the money home even if you win, it would go to next in line.

It's no fun when it's so muggy, so hard to sleep as well, keep getting up in the night, some to cool down, also get a mouthful of water.

Emptybox, I've been further looking into the water works/bladder workings, wow, so complex, at least 3 muscles involved, i class constricting muscles as valves: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/con...er-and-how-it-works/

It's quite hard to follow tbh.

I have access to the tax service, the online personal tax acc, the self assessment website but i couldn't find out anything at all, all the side links didn't seem relevant, the talk to an officer didn't work as it just said all busy, and it asked for a review, bet they are sorry they asked that, i had to ring in the end, and i hate that.

Yes, a couple of them pressed the button to get the cask, Andrew won, it was about ÂĢ18,300 or so, one gets evicted don't know who, everyone thinks it would be Sam, so he would get another ÂĢ15k then for being last ne standing.

Yes, they leave Friday, thats probably how they can keep it secret.

Hicky

so pleased you had no symptoms yesterday and the weather was good enough for you to get some work done. Yes how odd those insects seemed to invade the whole country for one day and have disappeared again. Hope you were well again today.

Hicky

Hope your tomatoes do ok. It was dark all day here too, but didn't rain until quite late. Stopped again now. Very hot and stuffy again, but due to drop 10degrees now the weather lady said, hope so.

Glad you got a meal out, where did you go?

could you give me a link to your frying pan? We need a decent one, as the ones we have don't seem to perform too well.

Your idea of of a BB money list would be really funny.

Yes the human body is amazingly complicated, but you did real well retraining your group of muscles that were giving you problems.

If Andrew pressed the button, then surely he would pick Sam, so he bags himself another ÂĢ15k?

Well we will soon find out. How ridulous the show does not start till 10.30 tonight! As they keep changing times and making it later and later, makes me wonder if they are losing viewers?

at Andrew's beauty session. Made me cringe, but was so funny,

Not done much today, been too hot and sweaty, dog only wanted short walk, me and daughter made tea, mash, peas, tomatoes and some chessy pastries, very nice.

Watched the last of Joana Lumley in India, I think she is lovely.

Enjoy the show. xxxx

M

Mollie and Hicky.

Dull cloudy and windy today, with a little drizzle in the wind. Cooler but still about 17 degrees.
Got some work done anyway.

Hicky. Hope your tomato plants come to something, but I suspect you'll struggle to get any ripe tomatoes from them, unless it stays warm and sunny into September.
Glad you're pleased with your new frying pan, and had a tea out.
Thanks for the waterworks link. I see that is of the female anatomy, so males are even more complicated when you throw the prostate into the mix.

Mollie pity it was too warm again for you, and not even sunny.
Yes silly that BB is on so late again, but I guess it's OK for the Sarah Payne story?

So Andrew did what was expected and evicted Sam? No great loss.
I see Hannah was desperate to win the money as well.

Evening Mollie.

Nice today really, 18c mainly sun, no rain, slight 15 wind decreasing.

Didn't do much, my new 6" electric bench grinder came, with wire wheel as well, wanted one for a long time so took the plunge, only cheap mind.

Have ordered a new battery for 1 of my electric drills, it's quite a light one which is handy for small jobs but the battery isn't holding the charge when it's not in use.

Have had to add some more supports to apple trees for now, may have to take some of the fruit off.

Gave O/H another cucumber for her to take to her mother as she takes her shopping today, still got a load ready though, wish they would grow slower

Just cooking my piece of belly pork, meant to cook it Monday, oh dear, i left it to dry, well, it's dry all right, very.

I see there's another eviction tomorrow as well, seeing that Chanelle, Ellie, Hannah, Kieran and Tom are nominated i hope Tom goes, or Hannah.

We went to The Greave Dunning in Greasby, ordered place but they said they had run out so got Sea Bass, had olives and bread with balsamic for starter.

Yes, Andrew acting soft but very clever picking Sam, he pressed the button first then Hannah but he pressed again, so did Hannah, but he was nearest to the buzzer.

Sam is in another world, he really isn't a full shilling.

Just had a look at the crackling, wow, perfecto, so pleased, didn't even put salt on the skin, it just shows, it needs leaving a few days to dry in the fridge uncovered, thats the secret i reckon.

Will make a couple of belly pork rolls now with chutney on.

I like chessy pastries, not so much cheese.

I saw some of Joanna, got bored a bit, and there was something else on.

PS, i've been doing what they say with the teabags, leave them for 5 minutes in the boiling water before you remove, it does make a nice brew.

that's good you got some work done again, have you caught up now?  Hope you are still symptom free and your back is ok.

Yes Andrew had it worked out that to get at the ÂĢ15k, he neede Sam gone.

Hicky

hope you are pleased with your bench grinder. What sort of thing would you use one of those for?

You are too good growing your cucumbers if they are coming on that quick.

Shame your belly pork was dry, but that is good you have worked out the secret of your crackling and your tea bags too.

I bet you enjoyed your fish meal out. We are going to our fave pub for a meal tomorrow. It is so popular we have to book in advance.

Do you have a link to your new frying pan as we need to get a decent one?

You are right about Sam, he is in another world, I did feel a bit sorry for him when he realised how he had blown his chance with the money without even realising it at the time.

I hope Chanelle goes, she is just so loud and irritating and I am fed up how they have made the show primarily about her and given her a visit from her gran and a night with her bf. I think she is rather big headed and thought she had the win in the bag. But who knows who'll go, there is no one obvious and hard to tell with so many up.

Thankfully the weather is much fresher here today at last. Bit cloudy and windy but no rain and that awful humidity has gone.

Dog enjoyed her walk, even though she cant'  work fast with her arthritus. Did lots of washing that dried nicely,

Anyone watching the "Question Jury" on C4 Monday to Fridays at 3pm? I do, and love it. I record it if I don't  have chance to watch at that time. If you get chance, give it a go, it is really good. This is a 2nd series, started again Monday. Parts of it remind me of BB. eg gossiping about each other in the washroom, and deciding who they will let be Chief Juror so eligible to win the money. A great show. And the questions are really interesting too.

Looking forward to BB, on at 10pm again tonight I see. Can't keep up with the timing of this show.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi both.
Dull windy and cold today (12 degrees), and a bit drizzly at times as well.
Got a couple of jobs done, but not very pleasant weather to work in.
Probably still a little behind with jobs, and it sounds like it's going to be a very wet weekend here.
No symptoms today Mollie, but my back was bothering me a bit.

Didn't realise you were looking for a bench grinder Hicky. I've got two here and was thinking of selling one.
I use one to sharpen my mower blade, but don't need the second one
(not sure why my Dad needed two, but he had one in his workshop and one in his garage)
Your cucumbers seem to be very successful this year.
Hope the apples don't overwhelm the trees.
Glad your belly pork crackling turned out lovely.

Glad the temperature suited you better today Mollie, and doggie enjoyed her walk.
Saw an advert for that programme, but wasn't paying attention, so don't know what it's about?

I hope it's Chanelle and Hannah who goes. What a fuss they made about being nominated.

Chanelle goes round deliberately irritating everyone, so how she can complain when she gets nominated for it is beyond me.

Hate to say it, but Andrew reminds me of my youngest nephew a bit.
Not in looks, but he has those sort of hissy fits, and the accent is close as well.

evening Both.

Not so good today, 19c but cloud and rain mainly, 21 wind also.

Didn't do much, put my shopping away, i'm good like that.

Tried to get one of the grinding stones off the bench grinder to swap for the wire wheel but can;t undo the big nut, you would think there would be some means of holding the motor but it said put a glove on and hold the wheel, there is only a quarter of it showing, and to hold with one hand is expecting a lot.

Mollie, There is often a time when i would like to sharpen a tool or something, i have all ready sharpened my axe, not that i use them but at least it's sharp if someone borrows it, i was hoping to use the wire wheel to take a little staining off the bottom of a couple of the frying pans, the hob doesn't do it but the heat tries to dry oils onto the stainless base which is hard to get off.

The belly pork was only dry on the outside, not when cooked, it has to be dry to get the crackling to succeed, but it needs to stand uncovered in the fridge for at least 2 days.

This particular frying pan is only a 20" which is pretty small, depending of course what you want to use it for, it fits on my small induction ring on the hob, can be used on any type of hob though, https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProCo...g-20cm/dp/B01HQA2RB6

Chanelle isn't fave to win now, it's Isabelle, she is loud, just glad i don't live next door.

Haven't watched that Jury show yet, BB has been on late so not to clash with Love Island.

Emptybox, Yes, it looks like a wet weekend, it's raining here all ready, if the weather changes you will catch up ok.

Would have loved a bench grinder years ago, just not got round to ordering one i suppose, many a time it would have come in handy.

I had forgotten how fast stuff grows in the greenhouse, it really shoots up, will be picking peppers soon at this rate, have got bell type and banana type.

Am a bit worried about the apple trees, some have so many on them, i will check them every day, took a couple off today, will have to thin the Asian pears out more, it's laden.

I think either Hannah or Tom will go, but with the public voting anyone could go, Andrew is the strangest HM ever.

Hicky

both xxx

Emptybox

sorry weather not too good for you, but at least you got a few jobs done. Hope the back improves over the weekend when you give it a rest.

I agree, hope Chanelle and Hannah go, what an awful reaction to being nominated. Poor Sam is the one entitled to feel most done by, but he has hardly complained at all.

at Andrew reminding you of your nephew. I thought Andrew was hilarious last night the way he packed the black bags, and despite Charlotte trying to talk him out of it, he dragged them all up the stairs, only to drag them all back down again shortly after.

In fact what a great episode last night, as I also thought it was hilarous every time I read what their T shirts they were wearing, said.    And Issy also looked dead funny whilst they were all going off on one around her, sitting there quietly applying her fake tan!

Hicky

that's a shame you too had bad weather, we did as well. In fact we only had about half hour of dry , the rest pouring all day long! It has finally stopped now.

Yes I can imagine how good you are at putting your shopping away.

Shame you couldn't sort the nut and the grinder out, maybe you will work something out soon?

Thanks for the frying pan link, do you find it better than the usual non stick types we have from the supermarket?

I'd advise you both to record the Question Jury when we have a new team starting Monday C4 at 3pm. It was so good this week.

That's great everything is growing so well in your greenhouse.

Yes Andrew is certainly a strange HM, but he has done well out of the show with the money he is walking away with. I think Charlotte is really good with him the way she tries to calm him and the way she tried to tell him not to name exact  monetary offers to Sam at this stage, straight after he won it. The trouble is, he doesn't listen to her most of the time!

BB on late yet again, and it is an eviction night!

Went out to the pub for tea, which was lovely, I had sweet potato chips, salad and a lentil pie, really tasty it was.

Enjoy the show.

Goodnight both xxx

Hi both.
Similar day to yesterday here. Cloudy and windy and threatening to rain. But it stayed dry, and was perhaps slightly warmer than yesterday.
Got a few jobs done again, but still behind.

Hicky, I'm sure you'll work out how to change the discs on the bench grinder. I've never tried on mine.
That's good that your peppers are soon going to be ready.
You were way out in your eviction prediction.
Really pleased that Chanelle is out, but hoped for Hannah instead of Ellie.

Mollie, pity it rained all day for you. Think it's visiting me tomorrow?
Yes the black bags thing with Andrew was very funny.
Glad you enjoyed your pub tea.
I see you can watch episode of that Question Jury online, so I might watch one to see what it's like.
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-question-jury
I like general knowledge questions, if that what it's about.

Evening Both.

A funny sort of day, mainly cloudy 19c a few sunny spells a drop of rain late on light 5 wind.

Didn't do a lot, tried to get the wheel off the bench grinder, got a bright idea to hold the wheel while i undid the nut, got one of my big G clamps and tightened it onto the sanding wheel, sure did hold it, with they had told me in the manual the the thread is left handed, oh dear, i was tightening for a while when i thought i would try the other way, well i never, will ring the makers next week to say how happy i am, after 2 days of trying to get the nut off.

Just made a plate of cauliflower in cheese, hardly worth the bother tbh.

I suppose i wasn't surprised Chanelle & Ellie went, the 2 who have gone into the secret room are Hannah and tom as far as i know.

Mollie, The new frying pan say in general you don't need to use any oil, i only wash them by hand and it does advise this to prolong the coating, i would like the whole set as 3 different sizes would be great.

Out to tea again, it's so nice eating out, i have so little to put in the dishwasher at night.

Emptybox, Yes, prediction are often proved wrong, but people see things with different eyes.

I see the face to face noms put Hannah & Tom in the attic.

I would have put them on the roof.

we must have had a lot of rain overnight as i had 2" of rain in a bucket.

My box of 12 x .25 litre Kilner jars came so i can start making Jam next week now.

That was funny, Andrew running up the stairs with bin bags, and not the first time, he must have a screw loose really.

I wonder if he still gets the money if he walks?

Hicky

both xx

Emptybox

how is the back today after doing a few jobs? Hope it is ok.

Hope you enjoyed your sphag bol tonight, did you have a beer with it tonight?

I agree, I was so glad to see Chanelle out first, that surprised them all, especially her I think! But I agree, pity Elly went. I am not pleased Hannah stayed, I don't think she is nice at all, and I am not happy a secret house is introduced at this late stage of the game, meaning Hannah and Tom are in control now of who gets to the final. Even though I like Deborah, it seems very unfair in this secret house situation now, the advantage 2 sisters have over the rest of the HM's. It looks like we now lose Charlotte or Issy which is a great pity, or maybe Ralp if the producers get him in diary room and ask him pointed questions, that they know will wind up Hannah and Tom in order to put him..., I wouldn't be at all surpirsed if the producers do that if they prefer him to be up. But we won't get chance now to vote Hannah out.

Did you find Question Jury interesting? I'd like to see some of that Jury in the BB house!  The "coffee" argument was brilliant on Friday.

Hicky

glad you sorted the bench grinder out. I thought you would have some bright idea.

I cheat when I make coly cheese, as you say, it is not worth the effort otherwise. I buy a good pack of cheese sauce and mix it with milk, pour it over the boiled coly, put grated cheese on top, then in oven for awhile.

I agree, it is so nice going out for tea, did you go out tonight? I too hate the tidying up after making a meal. With 5 of us, there seems to be endless plates/cutlery.

Sounds like you are going to be busy jam making when the jars come next week.

I like the look of those saucepans, think I'll order one now.

Been to Costco today, lots of nice free food samples and we had jacket potatoes again in the cafe.

Evening both.
Rained here all day, and cold too.
Didn't do much, but of course I had my usual spag bol and beer for supper.
Back not bad today.

I watched an episode of that Question Jury. Didn't think I was going to like it at first, as the set looked boring and the people not that interesting, but by the end I really liked it, and I can see how you could get hooked.
Trouble is, I don't see where I would find an hour a day to watch it, not without giving up BB?
But I'll definitely watch it every now an again when I find an hour's hole to fill.
I like the quick fire round, as i can usually answer those questions.

Glad you got the bench grinder figured out Hicky.
If I have cauliflower cheese I just buy the ready made stuff TBH, although I'm sure I could make it myself if pushed.
Good luck with your jam making.

Yes it looks like Hannah will definitely target Charlotte for eviction, and I think she would be evicted if she was up against anyone other than perhaps Raph. And even then I think she'd still go.
Grown to quite like Issy though, despite her horrendous fake tan.

Jacket potatoes Mollie. That reminds me of when I was a student in Edinburgh, and I used to take a break from studies in the evening and go to 'spud-u-like' and get jacket potato with various fillings, before going back to my room and my books.
You could get all sorts of 'exotic' fillings such as prawn cocktail etc, but I think my favorite was just boring coleslaw.

Evening Both.

Not a bad day after the rain stopped about 10am, a monsoon before that.

Went out for brekkie to The Greave, they do Brunch and brekkie, had a lovely one so did O/H with Tea for 2, the hot drinks are free with it so it only cost ÂĢ11 something.

Gave 4 cucumbers to next door, she can give some away.

Been doing some practice on the bench grinder, cleaned one of the frying pans using the wire wheel and did some work on some spare kitchen knives, want to remake the knives into single bevel so first had to grind off the 2 bevels so i can grind one bevel back, not too easy but good fun.

Gave the cucumbers and peppers a feed of Epsom Salts, did a bit of support on one of the pear trees, the pears get so heavy after a while and the branches are so thin, they wave around like flags.

O/H just made a Lamb Roast with roast spuds, peas and cabbage, very nice to.

Mollie, I did the same as you with the Coly, but i put the boiled Coly into the cheese sauce, i didn't out it in the oven though, had no reason to.

The jars came for the Jam, think i will make it Tuesday, have been looking at a recipe for Pickled Cucumber now, simple enough, will have to do something the speed they grow.

Make sure you pick a frying pan a size thats big enough for what you want it for, i have 2 small and 2 big now, the new 20" base is just the size of the small hobs, it won't work on my large hob as it's too small to be detected.

Emptybox, This Spag Bol is pretty Ritual isn't it, i'v never really had food relative to a day or time.

Yes, i think i will buy the ready made cauliflower in future, might get less but it saves all the prep time.

I thought it obvious who Hannah and Tom would pick, from the 5 they were never going to pick their friends! so that left Issy and Charlotte.

It's funny really, the 2 who would have gone this week was Hannah & Tom, now they are safe so BB have cheated the public really as the choice doesn't include those 2.

and Issy was down to win the show, didn't they want her to win so have put Raph to win instead? strange way to fix the show.

I have always liked baked spuds, don't mind what the filling is as i like everything anyway.

BB is on early tonight at 8pm, then Love Island, then Aftersun, thats good as well.

Glad you enjoyed Question Jury, yes the set is plain, but I think it fits in with the theme, and the questions are very good, and interesting. Amazing how quick some can answer the quick fire rounds. Yes if you watch from the beginning of the week and get to know the contestants, and who rubs who up the wrong way, you do get hooked on it. One day last week, we had a real tactical final jury, where one guy wanted to choose who not to put up, as he couldn't stand a couple of other jurors, so didn't even stand up himself, thus putting himself out of a chance of winning anything.

Yes I think they still have Spud u Like...aaaww at you being a young hard working student going back alone to your books with your coleslaw spud. I just go for boring fillings too,....beans and cheese for me. Spud u like is about ÂĢ5 now, against ÂĢ1 something in Costco though. Were you ever part of the clubbing/drinking student thing? My kids are not into that at all. (I must admit I was into clubbing, loved dancing, liked a drink, but not real drunk like young people get now!). My kids prefer their gaming or my oldest, his drama.

Did you get your papers today? Is your van still ok since the MOT? Hope so.

Hicky

thanks for the frying pan hints.

Glad you are making use of your grinder.

That looks a nice place you went to for brekkie. I like to see places you go, especially as my parents lived in that area. A bargain too if the dirnks are free, it is often the drinks that add a lot to the price. I have started asking for soda water when we go out for tea now, nice and refreshing , but would always get a hot drink for brekkie.

I bet your neighbour loves it when you knock on her door with more produce for her.

I like my coly cheese in the oven because the grated cheese melts and makes a nice topping, especially as I don't have meat, so the coly cheese would be the main part of my meal.

If your pears are that heavy, sounds like you are going to have a good crop.

Gosh Hannah so got on my nerves in that attic! Talk about miserable faced and bossy. It was nice to see all the HM's in the main house getting on and having fun since they got rid of Hannah and Chanelle. Hannah seemed jeolous of the fact they were though! She seemed annoyed they were not all sitting around looking miserable because they missed her so much!

Yes Hicky, disgraceful how the 2 who were voted to go end up choosing who makes it to the final now because of this! I did not want to lose Issy or Charlotte. I am surprised how much nicer Tom was than I thought he was though. Mind you anyone could look nice next to that Hannah, she was so bitter and nasty.

Showery today, only managed a very quick walk round the park with mum and the dog, and that was after sheltering with the family oustide her flat for 10 mins! Shame because yet again we now have clear skies and a dry forecast for Monday after so much rain all over the weekend.

I don't think C5 value BB much any more they way they keep changing the times. Fancy putting it on at 10.30 one night, then 8 another night. so annoying.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Not bad today really, dry and 19c sunny and 14 winds.

Didn't do much, did some more single edge sharpening on my practice knives, the funny thing is, all Japanese Chefs use single edge knives but the household knives are double edge, i don't like double edge and am slowly changing all my kitchen knives to single edge as they sharpen better and cut an awful lot nicer.

I rang the Bench Grinder supplier to tell them about the missing info in the booklet

Just had a fry up of sliced Duck, fried sliced boiled baby spuds, sliced fried Asparagus, and sliced fried mushroom, seasoned with my special mixture of Indian curry mix, stirred in, very nice to.

I have replanted one of my late tomato plants into a 12" pot, not sure if it will produce but it has flowers coming now, it's 1 of 3 i got from seeds i put in, they should be big toms.

My other big tom plant says only leave 3 or 4 on each truss so they grow big.

I have fitted the new lockable bolt on the back gate, it's the width of the drive and is pretty heavy but the old bolt wasn't lockable which is pretty useless.

The Final of Love Island tonight, they were talking about it on BBC One breakfast this morning with one of those evicted on the show.

Am going to make some Pickled Cucumber next, just need the some Dill & Shallots, got the rest.

Should be making the Jam tomorrow all being well, got everything i need anyway.

Only the hot drinks are free, probably because the cold drinks cost them more.

I don't knock on her door, we talk over the fence and i pass her stuff, she's probably had all my garden produces, a lot more to come yet.

Yes, never had this many pears before, i'm trying to keep as many as possible, have had to support some of the branches on apple trees as they are getting so heavy, of course they are only baby trees really because they are in tubs, i should repot a lot of them as well.

Yes, Hannah is blazing because they aren't missing them, so miserable, never liked them and now they are in the final.

C5 are trying to keep BB from clashing with Love Island, it suits me fine.

Hicky

Hicky

hope Emptybox is ok, not like him to miss a day here. Maybe he was busy with tv last night as they changed BB times yet again?

I bet the grinder people were impressed you worked that out about their booklet.

I have to buy left handed knives for me and daughter as we are both left handed, and ordinary right handed knives are difficult for us. I use an online site. So not sure if they are double edged.

That is an unusual fry up you had, I bet it was tasty.

Sounds like your tomato plant should do well despite the late planting.

Good idea to pickle some of your cuumber as you have so much of it.

Your neighbour is dead lucky to have sampled all your garden produce.

Yes I am so annoyed Hannah is in the final and has single handed really (as she wouldn't let Tom get a word in), decided who is in the final, when really it is her and Tom who should of been for eviction as the HM's nominated them!

Really warm and sunny here today, so yet again we had rain most of the weekend and then a lovely day on the Monday when OH has to go back to work.

At least I got all my washing dry today.

Enjoyed Question Jury again this afternoon.

Enjoy your Love Island, I don't watch that, but am looking forward to BB.

Wonder if Emptybox did his gardening today?

M

Evening both.
I must have forgotten to post yesterday.

Dull windy and cold this morning, with a little bit of sun this afternoon. Got a couple of jobs done anyway, but the grass was very wet from all the rain at the weekend.

Some nice meals for you Hicky.
Glad you found something to do with your bench grinder.
Saturday is the only day I always have the same meal (unless I have company). I suppose it is a bit of a ritual.
Good luck with your jam making.

Hi Mollie. No I was never into clubbing or dancing. A few pints in the Student Union was my limit, and a play on the Space Invaders machines.
I also went to quite a few rock concerts while I was in Edinburgh.
Had a few close friends, but wasn't part of a large group.
Glad you got the good weather to get your washing dry.

I agree that Hannah was really annoying in the Attic, and has more or less decided that my favourite Charlotte will be evicted.
Not sure why they had BB on at 8pm yesterday? I almost missed it.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not a bad day really, dry sunny and 19c hardly any wind.

Made 4 x .25 jars of Pickled cucumber & shallots with dill, mustard seeds, salt, sugar and malt vinegar, it says leave in fridge overnight, it's good for 2 weeks anyway, got enough stuff to make another lot, should be making Jam tomorrow.

Made 2 ramekins of potted brown shrimps, just had an old curry with veg rice and the last of the boiled sliced baby spuds.

Put some of my shredded cardboard on the compost pile as i had a bag of grass to put over it.

Had one of the Victoria plums, only a few on this year, O/H loves Victoria, the first year i have any plums off it, it's quite a new tree but it's growing well this year.

Mollie, I'm a bit confused with your left handed knife saga, all non Japanese Chef kitchen knives are double bevel so are right or left handed, all the bread knives i've seen are ground on the right which is what left handed people want, never seen one ground on the left, all table knives have the serrations on the right hand which is what left handed people want, so no idea what you have been buying, the kitchen knives i am changing to single bevel will have the bevel on the right as it's designed for the Japanese master Chefs, as far as i know all handles are universal for right or left handed people, i think someone is kidding you, have no idea what you bought online, my O/H is left handed and uses the same knives as me, as it's all they make.

I passed my neighbour a jar of the Pickled cucumber to try, and a bag of little toms.

Yes, an eviction tonight isn't it? want Isabelle to stay, think there's another Thursday as well.

Watched some of that Jury thing, what a load of rubbish, they had no idea of the answers, had to turn over too boring.

Emptybox, Oh, i thought you had Spag Bol without fail.

They might have had BB on early Monday as Love Island's Final was on for 90 minutes from 9pm.

I wonder who went tonight in the fixed eviction.

Hicky

Emptybox

glad you got a few jobs done, but pity it was hard work due to wet ground.

Nice to have a special meal when it is a Saturday.

Oh yes of course, as I know you are a guitar player, I should of guessed you would of gone to a few rock concerts as a student. I believe Edinburgh is a lovely city to live.

After last night's BB, as well as finding Hannah annoying in the attic, I thought she was annoying in the house! Very conceited. I think she has probably ruined her sister's chances of winning. I am so annoyed that she alone was offerred chance to get rid of Charlotte.

Hicky

I see you have been busy making your pickled cucumber and shrimps too.

I bet your plums are yummy.

The guy at the end of Question Jury ended up winning over ÂĢ7k, so they got a lot better at answering today as time went on. I still love the show, especially when they talk tactics in the washroom.

The knives we had originally were just supermarket knives, but this is where i got the left handed ones from, and they cut a lot better for me. This page tells you about left handed kitchen knives. I also got the left handed scissors as I don't like cutting with my right hand.

http://www.anythinglefthanded....how_left_handed.html

Yes hope Isabelle stays, I think she is a lovely person.

Been too hot here again today, stifling in the house. But at least I got the washing dry.

BB time, enjoy.

M

Hi guys.
Dull and cloudy today with rain this evening. But at least it wasn't windy, so I could get a hedge cut.

Pickling today I see Hicky. Hope your jam making goes as well tomorrow.
I also wondered about Mollie's left handed knives, but I guess it does make a difference if it's got serrations on one side.

Mollie, I agree that Hannah is poisonous.
I guess I don't mind that Isabelle stayed, but really sad that Charlotte went. But at least we get to see her on BOTS.
Wish you'd send some of your heat up here. Positively chilly at night up here.
And having to wear a couple of layers tonight. No shorts and T-shirt for me for a week or so.

Andrew tonight. That's exactly how my nephew goes on.

Evening Both.

Had a busy day, made Jam, got 4 x 0.25 litre and 2 x 0.125 litre jars filled.

Had soft boiled eggs for brekkie with toast soldiers, just had Ribeye steak with fried red onion, mushrooms and fried mash.

Had rain till midday, then a little sun, not much wind.

Had another Victoria plum, very nice, pity i only had a few.

I noticed the Brown Turkey fig tree is producing loads of baby figs, which will have to come off before winter as they are too late to ripen, never got any of it this year because i trimmed the roots when i re-potted it so it aborted all the figs.

Mollie, I read your post about the left handed knives etc, i really think you are being kidded, as far as i know all bread knives are the same, 99% of handles these days are dual handed, all kitchen knives are double bevel which is both right and left handed, the don't make normal kitchen knives single bevel as far as i know unless you buy a special Japanese Chefs knife.

Scissors can be right handed to some degree but whether that would matter depends on the finger holes etc, some could be biased towards right handed, i've never seen an item marked right or left handed on the packaging.

Emptybox, I am a bit confused about the knives, all table knives have the serrations on the right, the same as breadknives, and all kitchen knives are double edge so where is the left handed knife because they say you need the serrations on the right, and thats were they are.

It was a bit unfair ditching them out the back door, a few of them deserved to go out the back, they can't even get a crowd for Fridays.

I haven't noticed it cold at night, i'm still roasting all night, it's 23c here now while i'm at the computer.

PS, Just remembered, hmrc rang me, they have a new system coming out, instead of me paying them money every week to pay the tax bill they have scrapped my self assessment, i no longer have to fill forms in, they have scrapped me paying them weekly and the new system which comes out sometime next year is that when they have worked out what i owe they notify me how much to pay them in a lump sum.

This seemed to be a retrograde step, no idea whats going on, they said instead of paying them weekly put the money into another account so you can pay the bill.

You couldn't make it up.

what a shame it is so cold for you, it is cooler here today, so hope you got a bit of our warmth. Good job you at least managed to get a hedge done though.

Rained all morning, but dried up later here.

Good word to describe Hannah...poisenous. I didn't used to like Tom but Hannah made me see how harmless he was. Charlotte did well on BBOTS, shame Hannah was allowed to evict her though. Hope horrible Hannah goes next.

at Andrew impersonating your nephew. I find him funny to watch, but he must be hard work to live with.

Question Jury good today, did you see it, trouble brewing between contestants and one got stabbed in the back at vote time!

Hicky

that's good you got to make your jam today. Are you keeping it, or is your neighbour in for a treat?

You had the same weather as us, rain, then dry with wind.

Hopefully you will get the figs next year then? But looks like you are doing quite well with plums.

Still real hot at night here too. No quilt for me, I just rest a sheet over my legs at night.

Oh yes I remember I have heard about HMRC doing annual bills/rebates now. I guess it is just to save themselves money on admin?

Yes its confusing about the knives. I don't think anything is normally labelled left handed as everything is normally aimed for right handers, it is only this website I have seen left handed stuff for. The left handed bread knife definately cuts easier for me and daughter, but not for OH with his right hand. But as say, kitchen knives should be ok in either hand if they are double edged. I'll have to look at the Japanese kitchen knives. Did you get these from amazon? The ordinary large scissors don't really cut if I use left hand, but left handed ones do.

BB....Yes especially at this late stage, it does seem real cruel to do back door evictions with no Emma. Poor Charlotte had been there for ages!

Managed to take dog a walk this afternoon when the rain stopped.

Can't believe BB is not on till 10.30 tonight, makes you wonder if they are trying to destroy this show?

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.
Wet here this morning but it did brighten up late afternoon, but too late to get any work done.
I got my monthly accounts done and paid my road tax online.
Then later on I went into town to pick up my prescription and make an appointment with the optician (I was sent a reminder).

It was a bit warmer today, but it's only been single figures overnight up here lately.
I've still got my 10.5 tog quilt on and have needed it.

Hicky boiled eggs for brekkie and rib-eye steak for tea? Surprised you didn't have the steak for brekkie.
Yes, I'd heard that HMRC were scrapping tax returns in favour of personal tax accounts. Bet it'll be just as much of a shambles as now.
Government announces the end of diesel and petrol cars by 2040, which will accelerate the development of electric vehicles hopefully. But sounds like they will be bringing in higher taxes and restrictions on diesel vehicles by 2020, which could well affect my business, as I rely on my diesel van.

Mollie. Forgot to watch that Question Jury, and I was in at the time as well.
Glad it was a bit cooler for you today.
Yes, stupid to leave BB till 10.30.

Don't think it was a good idea bringing the ex-housemates back for the 'wedding'.
We'd only just got rid of Chanelle, and she was back at her horrendous worst.

Evening Both.

Didn't do a lot, weather rather changeable, cloud rain sun, all mixed up 18c thiugh with 15 wind.

Was going to spray everything with Neem Oil and Peppermint oil but with rain and wind it wasn't going to happen.

O/H got me Tagliatelle and Carbonara  sauce mix, just add bacon/mushrooms, very nice it was, beats spaghetti any day.

Pulled the red onions as they have been in the ground since 14/4/17 so should be ready, have hung them up to dry.

Mollie, Not sure what the aim of HMRC is, the changes could just cover a few people like in my category, i can't see what is saved unless they don't want to play banker for a few people when if you pay in a lump it can go straight into a particular account.

Japanese kitchen knives are the same as everyone else, double bevel, it is only special Japanese Chefs knives that are single bevel.

I am converting all the kitchen knives over to single edge as the double edge ones are awful tp sharpen and blunt too easy, they need sharpening every day almost.

Double edge knives you can sharpen with any knife sharpener, single is done with a water stone and ends up like a razor.

BB on again at 10.30.

Emptybox, I have been advised that you can no longer reorder your repeat prescription via the pharmacy, you have to get in touch with the surgery, they say the waste is too high with 3rd party ordering.

Don't think we have had any single figure night weather here.

I just try not to have the same brekkie twice on the run, otherwise food gets wasted.

They didn't say scrapping petrol and diesel cars, i thought they said vehicles, which i assumed included wagons.

I think it's a bit worrying when cars go electric, you can have 20 cars at the pumps at a time now, and it only takes 10 minutes to fill up, imagine what it would be like if 20 wanted to charge their car and it takes half an hour., it doesn't compute, also they don't have the room.

I agree, nothing was gained by bringing all those ex HM's in, except to get video for BB.

Hicky

shame the weather stopped you getting out to work, but at least you made use of your time sorting road tax, accounts out and going to get your prescription.

Do you just wear glasses for reading and driving?

Glad it was a bit warmer, but this time of year, you could do with it being a bit warmer still. Still warm here but not quite so sticky as we had showers/wind.

Yes, this sudden hate of diesel after the government talked us into going diesel not that long ago, is a bit of a blow, especially as it affects your business! My OH's car is a 7 seater, (needed for big family and dog), but it is diesel which is a shame as it is oldish but we hoped to keep it going. It is a mitsubishi, and the last one we had kept going for years and years.

Shame you forgot QJ, it was a good win today.

A few of the contestants off QJ go on twitter when it is being broadcast, so I do too. I asked Steven (the young one with glasses) if he realised the women had said, whilst chatting in the washroom, that they'd form an alliance agaisnt the men, and he said he hadn't a clue!  Of course when it came to it, the alliance did not last! Tomorrow's look interesting again, the blond woman looks like she is annoyed again!

HIcky

Shame the weather stopped your spraying. It was windy and showery here too.

No I don't think any of us will understand HMRC because they don't understand what they are doing themselves!

Gosh these kitchen knives are complicated, I think it will just be a case of trial and error for me.

That's a shame you have to contact the surgery to re-order prescriptions. Hope it doesn't cause too much problem for you. At the moment we don't have to do that, which is good as I hate contacting our surgery, they are useless at answering the phone! But the chemist answer straight away. But maybe if it saves money the system will change here too eventually?

I don't think many people manage avoid having the same brekkies twice in a row. So you do well with your imaginative brekkies.

I agree , having those ex HM's back was just awful, and meant we did not see enough of the HM's still left. As you say Emptybox, Chanelle was just horrendous, and it did not make for good entertainment.

On again at 10.30, how annoying!

Am watching the documentary about London Fire brigade on itv, if you haven't caught it, recommend, catch up. What an incredible job these brave individuals do.

Nearly forgot, we are going to the midlands tomorrow to visit my mum's sisters and staying overnight, so I might not be around for a couple of days.

Enjoy BB and enjoy the final tomorrow. I will be quite happy to see Isabelle win. I think she is lovely, and I really think she never thought she'd get as far as she has.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.
Cold and windy this morning, but a reasonable afternoon with some sun late on.
Got a few grass cutting jobs done, but the grass was very wet, so hard to leave a nice result.

Hicky. Pity the weather didn't allow you to spray your oil.
Hope you got a good crop of onions?
That's annoying if you have to go back to the doctor every time you need a prescription. Luckily they haven't done that up here.

Not sure if all commercial vehicles are covered by the regulations? Think it'll be a long time before we get electric lorries?
Don't know how they will work service stations in the future? You'd really need a charging point for every parking space.

Hi Mollie, enjoy your break in the Midlands.
I wear glasses all the time. Have done since I was 5.
Having said that, my long sight isn't too bad. I would probably be legal to drive without specs, but I certainly need them for reading and watching the telly etc.
Yes I see you tweeting about Question Jury. You haven't tweeted as much for years.

Really glad that Hannah missed out on the BB final.
Yes I agree that Isabelle should win it now.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A not so good day today, warmish at 19c but with cloud sun rain and wind at 13 it was a challenge.

Couldn't do much, but managed to remove all the old pea plants, going to see if i can dry it all to put through the shredder.

Planted one of the new tomato plants outside as haven''t got another pot for the greenhouse.

Am inundated with Cucumbers, not sure what to do with them.

Had Burgers for brekkie, just made Tagliatelle Bolognese, so tasty, think i started with a big jar of Italian tomato so followed a recipe to sort it out, very nice anyway, i probably should have only had half but couldn't stop eating it.

My shopping arrived in good condition, O/H always brings a few extra's.

I have a feeling the blackbirds could be eating my Blueberries as they seem to be disappearing, didn't think they bothered them, they didn't last year, too late to net it now.

Mollie, I don't think you can reorder repeat prescriptions over the phone, you either go in or do it online on a special site, i will ring them to check anyway.

Enjoy your trip to the Midlands.

I also hope Isabelle would win, it would be great.

Emptybox, Yes, with so much rain the grass wouldn't cut well, it probably rips it more.

The red onions aren't very big but as they were all lying down i thought i better pull them.

All the other white onions and shallots are lying down as well so as soon as i get some nice weather i'll get them up as well.

Maybe by saying vehicles they meant cars and vans, not lorries.

Yes, charging electric cars would be a massive thing to sort out.

I will be interesting to see in what order they come out tonight, its a 105 minute show anyway.

Hope Isabelle does well.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Pity you had bad weather. It was windy here but quite warm and sunny.
Got a lot of jobs done. I'll have to work tomorrow as well though.

The pea plants should dry very well.
Bet your neighbour will be pleased with your glut of cucumbers.
Glad you enjoyed your Tag Bol.
You should set up a camera to see who is nabbing your blueberries.

Really glad that Isabelle won.
I was worried when Raph was in the final two, as I thought he might pip her to the post.
Not sure why Andrew got such a bad reception? I thought he turned out to be rather an entertaining little fella in the end?

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Another strange day, cloud rain and sun 19c light winds 10.

Managed to spray the trees with Neem oil, you have to add a little liquid soap to get it to mix, also warm water.

Planted another Tomato plant, probably too late but it it was a late starter.

Gave 2 cucumbers to the window cleaner fellers, got so many, crazy.

Just had an old curry, one i made with Flank and onion also potato already in so didn't bother with rice.

For brekkie had fried toms, hash browns, fried mushroom, fried egg and beans with 2 toast.

Have hung the red onions in the gazebo, put a couple of hooks up on the roof braces, might have to split them up but all in a bunch for now, will have to look at the other stuff as well, also garlic, will have to check the time it needs to grow.

I prefer the tagliatelle to spaghetti, and it's nice in a meal.

It's too late now for the Blueberries, but next year i'll net it.

I was also worried with Raph and Isabelle as last 2, she was ahead in the betting but it's not working so good these days, don't know how close it was.

I wasn't surprised Andrew got boo'd, after taking all the money and also for the way he had acted all the way through, he really didn't do himself any favours.

Hope Mollie is enjoying her trip away.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Mostly sunny and windy today, but with a shower early afternoon.
Got one of my jobs done anyway, but the other one was cutting a hedge, and I thought it was too windy for that.
Just hoping Monday is fair.

That's good that you could get some spraying done.
How old was this curry you ate?
The window cleaner got an unexpected bonus with the cucumber.

I see Simone was barred from BOTS and the after party for spitting at Andrew when he came out. What an imbecile.

Not long to go till CBB, but a struggle to find something to watch in between.
I watched the Hobbit film tonight, although I've seen it before.

emptybox

both xx

Emptybox

hope the wind dies down tomorrow, so you can get that hedge done. Has it warmed up a bit there yet? Still warm here, in fact I noticed how much cooler it was in the midlands than here. But I have got fed up of how stuffy and hot it has felt most of this summer here.

How is your back? Hope it is bearing up whilst you work and hope you are symptom free now.

Yes indeed, nothing to watch on tv whilst we are inbetween BB shows. And of course with it being summer hols time, they tend to just use repeats and old film fill ins.

HIcky

glad you managed to spray your trees.

I bet that is the first time the window cleaners have been given cucumbers.

Yes I too was pleased to see the lovely Isabelle crowned the BB winner.

Even though Andrew could be annoying I thought it a shame he got booed, he played the game, so got the money, after all it is a game show.

Had a nice couple of days with mum's sisters. They were thrilled with the cake my daughter made them, it was a lemon cake, iced in pale blue with a cascade of pink flowers with gold interiors. Looked very pretty.  My aunts treated us to tea in their local pub, and brekkie the next morning.

When we got back I took dog a walk down lane and something bit me through my leggings, I saw it, looked like a small fly. When I got home, I saw I had several bites, but the one on my leg swelled up and blistered awful. So went to chemist this morning and he said I needed antibiotics asap! So had to ring 111, doc rang me back and had to go to hospital to get prescription.
I am off walking down that lane now, 2nd time I have had a bad bite!
Lucky, my private carer agreed to look after mum.

My leg is really bad now tonight, when OH took me to hospital to get prescription the receptionists said it looked so bad, I needed to see doc and not just collect the prescription. Doc said it was infected, and they have given me strong antibiotics,... 4 a day, and told me to take anit histamine. I have to work out when to take them as I have to work out so many hours between them and food. The doc drew a pen mark all round the swelling on my leg, and said if it extends after taking the meds for awhile, I need to go back. And of course, oh dear, it has extended. But I have only had one tablet anti biotic so far, so fingers crossed it calms down when I take a few more.

Not sure what to watch tonight, might catch up with Question Jury, as I missed it Friday.

Yes Emptybox, QJ has encouraged me to start posting on twitter, but I am still not even sure how to use it!   Do you know how to quote a post if you want to anwer someone, but show what they said to you first? Do you ever post on it? I haven't noticed your posts or Hickys lately though.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Both.

Another day of cloud rain sun and wind, warm at 18c though.

Didn't do a lot, had brekkie out at The Greave, very nice and cheap.

O/H just made a chicken roast dinner, i will have my chicken tomorrow, fancy making a Laksa soup, i have the paste and a recipe, also will probably make a curry, can always put it in the freezer.

Pulled my white onions, will put them to dry now, will probably pull the shallots tomorrow, maybe the garlic as well.

O/H's sister is down at theor mums tomorrow so will be giving her the Jam, Cucumber pickle, some tomato's and cucumbers.

A branch broke on the triple pear tree, didn't realise is was under so much stress, it was only small with 5 beautiful Williams pears, but they get so heavy, tried to graft it back on but don't think that will work as i couldn't get the cuts straight with it being by the trunk.

Finished shredding the leaves with my home-made leaf shredder.

Emptybox, At least you got some work done, pity about the wind.

I don't know how old the curries are in the freezer, i try to change them round but it doesn't effect the taste any.

I didn't know Simone did that, don't like her at all, she's like a firework waiting to be set off.

Yes, CBB starts Tuesday, wow, can't wait.

Mollie, Glad you had a nice couple of days with your mums sisters, you need the breaks.

Wow, that bite is real nasty, it might have been a horse fly think they are brutal, if the antibiotics aren't working you will need injections using a cannula.

I don't post much on twitter and i don't follow many as so many keep retweeting which i can't stand.

I used to use tweetdeck, it asked you if you wanted to show the original tweet, but i mainly reply now, which is the first icon under the tweet, it's a thin text box icon, the next one is the retweet, then like then PM.

Hicky

Hi both.
Sunshine and showers today, but I got my own grass cut and went to the supermarket.

Hi Mollie. It's warm enough during the day here, but chilly at night. Getting dark by just after 10pm now.
Not feeling at all bad now in terms of symptoms and back.
I hardly ever post on twitter so not too sure about adding a message to a retweet?

That insect bite sounds like it is extremely nasty. Guess it must have had bacteria on it's mouthparts to give you an infection. Hope the antibiotics kick in soon and reduce the swelling.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to your Aunts. That cake sounds really fancy.

Hi Hicky. Glad you enjoyed your brekkie out.
Pity the branch broke on your pear tree. Did you harvest the pears, or are they not ready yet?

Watched the Harry Potter film tonight (seen it before). Now watching an old episode of Top Gear.

Evening Emptybox.

Not a bad day, was expecting some rain but no, 19c cloud and sunny spells in the end, 15 wind

took off the cover from the vine, underneath is just vines and leaves, you can hardly see inside, got a few bunches of grapes coming on, they are always late to mature.

Pulled the shallots, they are too small, shouldn't have put them with the vine really, the garlic looks small as well.

Made a 100 litre of food for the trees, fed each one, takes some time but managed to do it without the gardener.

Finished sharpening one of the small kitchen knives, it's not single sided, single bevel as they call it, it works better if you grind all the bevels off and start again, takes a few days though, it's not just the edge you need to do but taper it all the way down to the edge, i do most on the grindstone with the last bit using the rough and smooth wet stone, i've got the holder screwed to a bench so it stays put.

Just made Laksa soup, omg, it's fantastic, need a jar of Laksa paste, garlic, ginger, chilli, shallots, tagliatelle, noodles, a tin of coconut milk, chicken cut up, stock, it made enough for 2 bowls to start, some left for tomorrow, might have for breakfast.

Gave O/H stuff for her sister, Jam, Cucumber pickle, cucumber, tomato's.

Gad your symptoms have taken a break, also your back, strange isn't it.

The pears off the branch that broke have a long way to go, September week 1.

I think these top Gear episodes will be on TV for the next 100 years, but i'm pretty sure i have seen them all, if they came back in 5 years they would be more interesting.

Hope Mollie has got the infection under control, she might need intensive intravenous injections if not, i have that once with an infection and the nurse came to the house every day, the antibio needs to go direct into the bloodstream.

thats good you managed to do your grass inbetween showers.

Getting dark at 10 is still not bad, think it is about 9 to 9.30 here now.

So glad to hear you are feeling better all round now.

Did you manage to get some work done today?

Hicky

thanks so much for the twitter info, I never knew about tweetdeck at all. I will enjoy using that.

Glad you got a brekkie out yesterday. A good way to start the day.

I bet your OH's sister was so pleased with the produce. What a shame the shallots and garlic were so small though.

That's good you managed to feed all the trees on your own. Will the pears still be ok even though the branch broke.

Well done making such an enjoyable soup. I bet that mix was real tasty.

I am glad to say at last the meds seem to be controlling the infection. I was a bit concerned I would, like Hicky said might happen,  have to get further and faster treatment, as it was  rapidly expanding beyond the doc's pen lines last night, but overnight it stopped spreading and the redness has now started to get less. The infected part still looks horrible though, and it still itches like mad, but doc said as long as the redness and swelling reduces, it means the meds are controlling it. The meds are strong, so have upset my tum though, I can only eat certain times of day, as meds have to be taken on an empty stomach. So had brekkie then couldn't eat till after 3pm, but felt nauseous by then, and didn't want much. So daughter has made me sweet potato, potato and carrot soup tomorrow to have to fit in around the med times. So that should be easy to eat.

Not much on tv tonight, but will watch Holiday Horrors on itv at 9.

Looking forward to CBB tomorrow night, I love launch nights when we get to see who is going in.

Have a good evening both xxx
