Did you get any frost or snow today?

Wonder if you managed to get any garden work done?

Hicky

that is a nice looking greenhouse, I can see you growing lots of yummy things in that.

Hope the sample is ok, or better than it was so they can soon sort it out.

My OH has been put on yet another course of antibiotics as his chest is still wheezy.

Good for you going out for brekkie. Where did you go?

I think I remember now you telling us the gf was from the Phillipines, nice that they have the same engineering interests.

I won't be around for a few days, OH is going to take me to see my friend in Yorkshire while he is off work so I have chance. She moved up there from here a few weeks ago. Hopefully he will have a bit of a rest when we get there. The kids have a lot of studying work to get on with so will stay home, and other son working in theatre, so they will all be coming and going, so they can look after the pets.
So I will see you both  either when I get back late Friday, or at the weekend.

I am going to be a lot closer to you both, especially Emptybox, it is a good 250 miles up north from us. My friend said it is a lot colder there, so I will still need my coat!

Not a bad day today, just a bit chilly first thing, but I managed to sit out in the sun for a short while around 6pm when I had chance and the washing dried well again.

Watched Bake off, and Peter Kay.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.
Well, no snow here after all, but it was raining most of the day, and very windy and cold, so no work.

Mollie, that's a pity that the antibiotics didn't sort your OH's chest. Hope the steroids help.
I watched Peter Kay as well. It was good tonight.

Glad you've settled on a greenhouse Hicky.
Hope your water sample turns out clear this time.
That's a rather minimal stir-fry by your standards?

Also watched Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners in the USA.

emptybox

Evening All.

Only 10c here, sunny all day though, slight wind, not too bad though.

The gardener came, he mixed the JI3 with farmyard manure to put in the tubs, i opened the top covers so he could shovel it in, we used the 8 bags and did what we could, am leaving the tubs open as i'm going to feed the trees over the next few days.

Had a call from the surgery, well O/H did, i was in the garden, then have sent a prescription to the Pharmacy for me, not sure what it is, the doc wants to see me, but i am supposed to be under the care of the consultant, but haven't heard anything at all, he might have retired.

Problem is O/H's back had her up all night and is bad today, she can't take me to the Pharmacy to get the prescription so will have to wait till she gets it for me tomorrow, unless she takes me there and back in the morning before she goes to her mothers.

All the plants seem to be doing well, have to keep checking them for creepy crawlies.

Hicky

Oh, evening both, didn't see any posts, they must have been on the next page, when i F5 it doesn't change page, what a bummer.

Anyway, Mollie, Yes, that greenhouse would do the trick.

Still got some infection, said in previous post.

Enjoy your trip to Yorkshire, yes, it will be a good rest for your O/H.

Those staying home will be able to look after things for you, and the animals.

See you when you get back, enjoy the break.

Emptybox, My stirfry was rather simple as i couldn't decide what to put in it, while i was still thinking it was finished.

Sometimes i'm glad if there's not much on TV as i can watch recording, have cut them down now to 32, deleted about 200.

Got a tray of home spiced Pork Ribs in the oven, yummy.

Tonight, Masterchef and GP's on together darn it, also on C5+1 GP's would clash with Benidorm, oh dear.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Not too bad day here. Cold but a bit of sunshine. A couple of light snow showers, but only lasted a couple of minutes.
Got a lot done.

Another prescription? That's not good. Hope your doc has an explanation for you.
Sorry to hear your OH has a bad back.
Glad you got help from your gardener to fill the tubs.

Hope you enjoy your break in Yorkshire Mollie.
Yes, that's a bit further North, so might be colder, although it's supposed to be warming up towards the weekend.
I expect the kids will get on fine, left to their own devices.

Watched GPs then Benidorm, now watching a recording (Galapagos).

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

A miserable day here, 10c with cloud rain, sun and wind.

I see you say you had a few light snow showers, nothing like that here.

O/H took me to the Pharmacy to get the prescription, different that the last one, this one is the same as one i got that had been on the shelf on the 28th March but they never told me, i had to get rid as they said use the latest which was different.

I see they have changed the wallpaper.

Just made a Japanese curry, nothing special, pretty mild.

Just watching Ground Force.

Recorded GP's, watched Benidorm.

Hope your Yorkshire trip is going well Mollie, you both need all the breaks you can get.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
A bit miserable here as well. Rainy and windy. A bit warmer than it has been though.
Went into town to get some stuff.

They don't seem to know what they are doing with your prescriptions Hicky?
I suppose all you can do is keep taking the tablets.

Yes they've changed the wallpaper. Perhaps they're celebrating an anniversary or something?

ETA: Oh aye, it's the eighth
https://www.gagajoyjoy.com/topi...y-anniversary-gaga-4

They say there might be outages tomorrow for maintenance reasons.

I think I'm going to have a curry tonight as well.
The Last Kingdom on TV tonight.

Evening Emptybox.

A cloudy day with very little sun but light winds.

Removed the cloche covers from the raised beds, fed all the trees, put the plastic covers back on the tubs, am trying to use up all the liquid manure store so i can make a new batch using a different method.

Another one of my lads texted me and said he'll come for an hour Sunday morning, he has 2 children a girl of say 15 from his first marriage and a little lad of say who is just over 2, i think he is a company director.

I'm hoping these antibiotics might do the trick, but i won't be holding my breath, breathing is not my good point.

The wallpaper has changed back, strange.

I don't know if the maintenance has been done or not now.

Mollie should be on her way back tonight.

I watched some of the F1 time trials, tomorrow should be interesting then, it's pretty obvious all the F1 changes are designed to stop Mercedes from domination, mind you i think the public was getting a bit fed up of the way it was, it's going to be an exciting season as there is going to be a real race till the end, it seems.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Similar weather here to you. Got enough done anyway.
Good that you got a lot done in the garden

That's nice that your lad and family are coming on Sunday.
Yes, I hope the ABs work this time, although chopping and changing them every week is not the way to go. They should have you on a longer course really.
Hope you enjoy the F1 this weekend.

Watched Posh Pawn, then Lethal Weapon and now watching Miss Cogeniality 2.

Evening Emptybox.

These latest AB's warn that they can change the colour of urine, they don't tell me what colour though.

A warmish day, very little sun though, not much wind, 13c cloudy and variable winds.

Tidying up the garden a bit. sorting the wood out, making a wire mesh container that i can put leaves in to dry so i can see if the shredder can chop them up.

Was thinking of taking one of the double compost bins down, don't really need 2.

Will set up the auto watering system next week as filling all the tub saucers is a pain if it doesn't rain. But i have a hose that will plug onto my water buts, manure butt or onto the mains water, but as i have 500 litres of rain water than i'll use that as it is better.

The F1 poll position was interesting, i wonder if at this venue the long wheelbase is the problem on so many sharp bends, should be a good race anyway.

BGT tonight, should be good again, hope so, usually watch Take Me Out as well before it.

had a nice time in Yorkshire, and it did feel a lot colder! Everyone up there had coats on ,so I was glad I took mine. It even hailed there.

We had a nice meal in a pub with my friend the 1st night, then she took us round Hull and its museums the next. It is the city of culture this year, but they did seem to still be doing a lot of work on it. I was surprised how flat it was up there and it was a dead boring journey as nearly all motorway. My fave bit was an old pub we visited there dating back from the 1660's. Gosh it was was so dark and the old floortiles so uneven, I had to watch my step!  It was still only lit by gas lights and heated with coal fires. It was so interesting.   Unchanged for 170 years apparently. Here it is, we sat at the table in the photo. The table next to us was all slopped.

Hicky

hope you enjoy your lad and his family coming to visit tomorrow.

Let's hope the new meds suit you and knock the problem on its head. Sounds a bit of a puzzle as to whether it is the doc or consultant who should be prescribing for you though.

My OH says the stronger anti biotics taste just awful on and off all day, so let's hope they finally get rid of his problem. He is also missing his weekend glass or two of wine!

Emptybox

are you up to date workswise? Hope the weather holds so you don't get behind.

Hope you enjoy your sphag bol and beer tonight.

Watching BGT now, love this show.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi both.
Not too bad here. Cloudy but not cold.
Got my own grass cut.

Got a phone call this evening from my Brother to say he and his wife are coming tomorrow on their motorbike. Just staying for lunch though, and going home before it's dark.
I had no idea, so haven't done any housework and don't have any food in, so we'll have to go out for lunch.
Don't think the place is in too much of a mess, but I'll have to look at it in daylight.

Flourescent urine Hicky? That'll be a novelty.
That's good that you got some garden tidying done, and you got the wire mesh frame made for drying leaves.
I see it's the Russian F1? Wonder if my Brother will want to watch that?

Glad you enjoyed Yorkshire Mollie, even if it was a little chilly.
That looks a very interesting pub. Wonder why they've kept it without electricity etc? I notice it has a burglar alarm though.
Pity your OH wasn't able to partake of a glass or two.

Yes, I'm up to date at the moment. The gardens haven't taken off up here yet, due to the cold weather. But if we get a warm spell they'll shoot away.

Watched BGT. Didn't think there was anything spectacular tonight.

Evening Both.

My lad came, he was delayed but all good, it seems his lad was invited to a party this afternoon, thats why he was in the area, his massive BMW is being changed soon for a Porche 4x4 new one and he's added ÂĢ25k of extras.

He is a Director of the Company, but the Company is His, they now export to China and Saudi as well as everywhere else.

They enjoyed walking around the various trees etc, i gave them the rest of the onion sets, white and red, they moved house 2 years ago and have a big garden now

Will resume work in the garden tomorrow, unless another lad calls in, i'll do the watering system next week.

I was surprised it didn't rain, 17c here some sun, winds 21 mph.

Mollie,  I hope these AB's work, pity your O/H is having problems with them, thats what my O/H is like, she has so many side effects from medication.

I think Consultants only prescribe prescriptions if you are an in patient, as far as i know they just present the finding to the Doctor.

Yes, BGT was good.

Emptybox, If the place is a mess when they come, draw blinds/curtains and make it all dark so they can't see.

Well, i had to record the F1, but caught most of it when my guests left, pity Hamiltons car was overheating all through the race, how annoying, wonder what caused that, mind you i have a feeling they wanted Bottas to win anyway, everyone did, his first in 80 races, wow.

Yes, it says this medicine may colour your urine, i'm not too bothered, what will be will be.

I'll take a new sample in next week, maybe Tuesday, i think the Doc wants to see me as well.

I've just made a Sweet & Sour Sauce for the first time, lucky i had the ingredients as well, it was very nice, fried some egg noodle and rice noodle to have it with, fried some Port loin but not a pork lover when it's like that, i like Pork on Ribs, thats about it.

My Raddish are coming on, the shallots are ok, red onion doing ok, the raspberries have many many flowers coming which looks good, the latest peas i sown have come through, the garlic is showing, some Gem lettuce showing.

Emptybox

That is good you are up to date work wise.

Gosh a visit from relatives with no notice! Hope you managed your quick tidy round and managed to find somewhere nice to eat. It is usually quite easy to find a cooked meal on a Sunday. Hope the weather was ok for your brother and his OH as they were on a motorbike. Wonder why they chose to come by bike instead of a car? How long would it of taken them by a bike to get to you?

Hicky

Sounds like your lad is doing real well if he is putting ÂĢ25k of stuff in his car!   What sort of stuff does he export? If he exports to China and Saudi he should carry on doing well as brexit approaches and we can trade easier outside EU, plus with the ÂĢ going down now for a couple of years, that should of helped his exports too.

Yes that makes sense consultants only prescribe to inpatients. Let's hope this lot of meds do the trick for you when you go back to docs on Tuesday. OH finished his last lot today, it seems worst in the mornings, so we now have to wait to see how he is tomorrow morning.

That's good you enjoyed your sweet and sour sauce.

Sounds like your produce is coming along nicely now.

Looked after mum this afternoon, but it was raining, so couldn't take her out, so she got a bit grizzly after she had finished eating, as she must of felt bored/tired.

Watched "Big Heads", then don't really fancy anything on tv, so might watch my catch up. Some of those Big Heads are so funny! I think Queen Victoria was out quick, as it was impossible for her to compete well in that long black frock!

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi both.
Sunny and warm here all day, although the wind was rather strong.

The visit went well, although they were only here for 3 hours.
We went out for lunch to a local woollen mill. Just soup and sandwiches.
They came on their bike just for the run out Mollie. It's a big 700cc Honda, so just as fast as a car, if not faster. just under 2 hours journey.
I went round dusting and hoovering and mopping before they came. Well, I guess it needed to be done anyway.

Sounds like your lad is doing well for himself Hicky.
Didn't watch the F1 as that was when my visitors were here. Pity Hamilton didn't win.
That's good that your veg and rasps are doing well.
My potatoes aren't showing above the surface yet, but I'm quite glad because of the frosts we had. It's supposed to be warming up now though.

Pity you couldn't take your mother out because of the rain Mollie.
Haven't seen Bigheads. Is it a sort of 'It's a Knockout'?

Watched Antiques Roadshow and then Grantchester, two programmes I don't usually watch, so that tells you there wasn't a lot on.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not bad today, 18c with some sun, 12 mph wind.

Made an appointment online with the Doc for next Tuesday, thats when i usually take a sample in so will take one with me anyway.

Fastened the trellis up for the Peas to climb, it usually works well, the bamboo one that expands to what size you want.

Started setting up the watering system, got a bit wet, was taking out some spray heads that were not working while the water was on, it was trying to screw it back in that got me wet, you wouldn't believe how much water can come out of a 4mm plastic pipe, still trying to dry the jacket i had on.

I was going to set it up at 6pm untill i looked at the time and timings on the computerised valve one, on the screen it said it had lost 5 minutes since i turned it off in the Autumn and the timing is set for 09.15, i remember now, i read something about watering in the morning so the plants don't stay wet overnight, so i'll have to set the 3 computers in the morning, i use 3 different types of solenoid controllers and one you have to tell it to start at a time in real time.

O/H made a Roast Dinner this afternoon, saved me cooking a meal anyway.

Mollie, My Lads company makes about 7 different flavour drinks and smoothies for kiddies, they don't need refrigeration for storing but you keep them in the fridge to drink them, they ship them by the container load so you can imagine how many that holds, he left me some packs for the little ones.

Yes, i'll be making that sweet & sour sauce, it is nice just with rice or noodles on it's own, in fact with some veg it would be good as well.

That was a shame you couldn't take you Mum out with it raining.

The Big Heads program was funny, only caught the last half.

Emptybox, Glad the visit went ok, a soup and sandwich meal is fine, glad they stayed safe on the Motorbike, it would worry the life out of me these days.

Found some of my water spray jets were blocked, took them out and found they come to bits (not supposed to of course) but like a lot of plastic sections you can tell when it has been pushed on, just needs some persuasion to come off the same way it went on.

Masterchef soon, only a half hour though, The Island with Bear Grylls, Life Below Zero.

Hicky

Evening.
Nice day here.
Took the day off as it was a bank holiday. Plus I needed to go to the supermarket for much needed provisions, as I couldn't go yesterday because of my visitors.
(that's my excuse anyway )

Good idea to make a docs appointment Hicky.
You should have turned the water off before tinkering with your system.
That's probably right about watering in the morning though.

Yes, I wouldn't want to have a big motorbike like my Brother has, but he feels a bigger more powerful one is more stable and able to keep out of trouble than a smaller one.
Not sure whether that's true or not?

Watched Police Interceptors and The Island. I think they were unfair to vote that bloke off, even if he was a bit of a pain.

Evening Emptybox.

Not a bad Tuesday really, 15c sunny spells and slight wind.

I set up the watering at 9am, another of the timers came on 2 minutes early, i can adjust the time when i remember to, they are set for 10 minutes now, may have to change in the summer to 2 waterings.

Have finished the mods to the garden shredder, have now got a nice leaf hopper done, haven't tried it as i need to check the leaves are dry, having built a drying unit i have to keep taking it under cover so it stays dry.

Gave my neighbour a feed of Asparagus, asked her if she wanted me to dress it, (break the hard end off) some cut it off but if you know what to do it will break in the correct place and give you the very lovely Spear.

Had a phone call from the surgery, it seems they sent a new prescription to the pharmacy for me Friday, I have been on the wrong AB's for almost a week, this is like a horror drama.

Just had some of my Potted Shrimps, wow, so good, i made 2 pots as I asked O/H for 2 packs from Sainsbury's, but it sure is a better way to eat them, you just need hot dry toast, i used a burger bun.

I should have turned the water off to remove and put back the blocked spray heads but I forgot the raised beds are on 2 isolating taps.

The problem with being on 2 wheels is, 1 you can't stop quick, 2 you can't turn quick, 3 you safety isn't in your own hands, it's in whoever else is on the road, bike against car is like car against lorry, you can't win.

I last went on 2 wheels in 1961 as after that i considered the risk to great.

I lost a school friend in 1950 when he was run over by a lorry coming back from school on his bike, and nothing has changed in 67 years.

On The Island, i would have voted him out, he too OCD and wasn't considering the others at all, to use all that oil when the fire was already going was criminal, he just wanted to show them he was boss, he was dreadful, to refuse a lady to get near a fire when she was freezing was dreadful, i would have lynched him.

Hicky

both

thought I'd posted yesterday, but if I did I forgot to press "Reply" so it didn't work.

Hicky

you have been busy with the watering system, but you should really need it soon as the sun feels quite strong now. Hopefully you managed a rest in the swing chair too.

That sounds an interesting business your son is involved in and handy how he can test the products out on his own kiddies.

I bet your neighbour was pleased with the asparagus.

Is your OH's back ok now? I remember you said it was bothering her a while back.

Incredible how they mixed your meds up again, and you have been on the wrong ones for a week! Good job you have an appointment to check up on them next week, and take another sample in for checking.

My OH has to go back yet again to the docs tomorrow, the anti biotics have still not worked!  So I understand how frustrated you feel. The hospital doc suggested steriods to try and get rid of it, but the gp didn't want to give them to him last time he went.

Emptybox

pleased to hear all went well with your visitors. You certainly deserved to have lunch out and a day off work after doing all that housework in a rush.

Not a bad day today, got all my washing dry and a nice little read of my book on my swing chair too.

Yesterday me and all the family had a nice walk on the seafront, it was quite busy as it was bank hol. We all ate chips on a bench overlooking the beach. Chips of course taste nicest when eaten outdoors.

Watched Bake Off, how incredibly artistic their creations are! I am watching the baby programme now on C4.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.
Bit of a dreary day here. Misty and damp to start, and not very warm. Bit of sun this afternoon, but the grass never dried.
Luckily I was weeding and strimming in the morning, and grass cutting in the afternoon, so got quite a lot done.

That's good that you've got the modifications to the garden shredder done Hicky, and are getting to grips with your watering system again.
Don't know what they are playing at with your meds. Won't do any good keeping on chopping and changing them.
That was nice of you giving some asparagus to your neighbour.

Yes, biking can be dangerous. I just hope my Brother is sensible.
My dad had bikes, but they were vintage ones, and he just puttered along on them. My Brother is more of a speed merchant unfortunately.
Never really ridden one myself, apart from round a field. Quite fancy a little electric scooter to go down to the village to get my paper though.

If I was that fellow on the Island, I'd have refused to go, and gone and lived on my own on the other Island, and to hell with the rest.

Hi Mollie, pity you lost yesterday's post.
Sorry to hear your OH's chest isn't responding to the meds. Are they sure it's a bacterial infection?
Glad your family enjoyed a seafront walk yesterday. Yes I remember eating fish and chips from a chip shop. Completely different to what you can make at home.

Watched Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners then Peter Kay's Car Share.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A rather nice day today, a nice Wednesday so to speak, 16c sunny with some wind 16 mph.

Had to staple the last of the material i've used to complete the shredder hopper, also have been drying leaves out for the test, which should come soon.

Put the tomato and cucumber plants out for the day to enjoy the sun.

Made O/H and myself a double burger and onions for brekkie.

My order of DuaDerm Extra Thin Hydrocolloid Dressing 7.5cm x 5 has arrived, this stuff really is miraculous, all the years i messed about with packs of plasters when you can buy dressings like this that when you take off you have new skin formed underneath.

I had a piece of my hand gouged by a sharp edge on one of the vines, it lifted a 1cm area of skin, i couldn't get the skin to lay down straight so i cut a bit off, probably not such a good idea, anyway, had normal plasters on for a few day, each time i replaced it the wound was the same, nasty, so i cut a circle of my magic dressing and put that on, took it off after a week and hey presto, no sore, no wound, just a healed area, fantastic, my new supply is ÂĢ8.07p and worth every penny.

They us it for major surgery it seems as the person who gave it me many years ago had had just that.

Mollie, We had the burgers this morning sitting on the swing in the sun, lovely.

Her back seems ok, she's probably taking medication though.

Oh, thats a pain if his meds aren't working, he'll have to start all over.

Emptybox, Not so good weather by you for gardening, better when it dries out though.

The meds i am on now i was on the other week so although it should do the trick it just seem to, i'm going to ask the doc if it is reoccurring or never going in the first place, a lot of difference.

Get one of those mobility things that can go on the pavement, the road will never be safe for 2 wheels, most accidents occur within a few miles from home.

On the Island, why should they put up with him when he didn't get on with anyone.

I wouldn't watch obsessive cleaners, omg, how could that be interesting.

Hicky

both

Hicky

How nice you and OH got to eat your brekkie burgers on the swing chair. Glad OH's back is ok at the moment. Hope the meds do help you out this time, yes good idea to ask the doc as many questions as you can. Perhaps write them down, so you don't forget?

Your dressing sounds handy to have in the cupboard in case it is needed. Do you get it off Amazon.

When are you getting your greenhouse? Do you have to put it together yourself?

Emptybox

that is good the weather enabled you to get the jobs done you needed to.

Do you like Hicky's idea of a mobility scooter on the pavement?

You certainly see a lot of them around now.

OH went back to docs this morning and he sent him for a chest X ray. Doc said he didn't think it would show anything, but wanted it done as a precaution before he gives him steroids next. Am hoping it comes back clear, but he has to wait around 10 days before he can go back to docs to discuss results. All very odd as he feels well in himself, doesn't feel breathless, and only feels wheezy first thing in the morning. Good job he is in between contracts at the moment so not working.

Lovely day today, a bit cloudy at times, but managed to get out on the swingchiar inbetween , and dried loads of washing.

Watched GP show, very interesting. Am now watching the Madeline documentary. After all this time, will they ever find out what happened I wonder?

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening both.
A nice sunny day here, but with a cool breeze at times. About 12 degrees at best.
The grass was nice and dry today, so easy to cut.

Sorry to hear you gashed your hand Hicky. But good you've found a good dressing for it. If they use it in hospitals it must be good.

Burgers for brekkie again? I had a burger for supper tonight, but not sure if I'd want one for brekkie? Although I suppose it's not a lot different to having a sausage?

Not sure I'm quite ready for a mobility scooter yet? I was thinking more on the lines of an electric bicycle or a moped.
The Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners are sent to the houses of people who hoard stuff, and that's the interesting part really. And this series they are in the USA, so bigger houses.

Hi Mollie. Hope your OH's X-ray is clear. At least it's not bothering him too much.
Glad it was a nice drying and swinging day for you.
Don't think the McCann case will ever be solved.

Watched GPs then Benidorm.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Another nice day here, 16c with sun all day, 16 mph wind though.

Had a light brekkie as O/H wanted to go out for Lunch, ended up in the Cottage Loaf, had an Indian Banquet, not bad for ÂĢ11 pound, couldn't eat it all, O/H had some fish and a pudding.

Got home and O/H aid she was going to put a half boned leg of lamb in the oven for an hour, after an hour she went to the kitchen, came back and said, did you touch the oven setting, no i said, haven't been in the kitchen for a while, the switch on the oven was set to just on, she had looked at the wrong end of the switch, oh dear.

But after an hour it was sorted, just had a batch with lamb on and onion and mustard.

I am moving the compost from one of the wooden bins to the other one, going to take a while.

Have put small flags down on where the corners of the greenhouse will go, will have to let them into the slate and then check the levels, printed the instructions and have been putting the parts needed for each section to build on the build sheet so i will be able to locate all the parts for each section quicker, will get the gardener to help me i think.

Have been drying more leaves out, will have to try the shredder out soon, want to build a but hotel somehow, looking at those you buy, they are only 0.5m max height which isn't really what i want but it gives me ideas.

Mollie, Yes, this is the type, it really is a miracle, it's what i used when i slice the side off a finger with the side of the electric compound circular saw, when i took the dressing off it had healed underneath.

And this time with the vine that gouged me, a miracle.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duo-D...rds=duoderm+dressing

You can get big packs of 6" square ones, a pack of 10 is only ÂĢ20, it's cheap at any price.

I was thinking of getting the greenhouse from here, https://www.gardensite.co.uk/g...-wide-greenhouse.htm

Yes, it is a two handed job to build really, i could build it but why struggle?

Emptybox, I see what you say about the scooter but really you should stay on the pavement, the accident rate is a lot less.

I have seen those houses where the whole area is buried by stuff collected, they should be in hospital really, it's a sickness or mental thing.

Talking about the McCanns case, i find it strange that we have people talking to those that live by were she disappeared 10 yrs after and giving them fresh information, and the BBC i think it was had been talking to some that had never been asked for what they saw, and some people saw strange events that same day, some dreadful mistakes have been made.

I remember now you using that dressing when you hurt yourself last time, good job you have this stuff. I will order some as it sounds useful to have some just incase it is needed. Just take care and hope you do not need to use it too often though!

Bet you can't wait to get your new greenhouse. Yes don't struggle with it trying to do it alone.

Watching Supervet tonight. Gosh he is amazing what he does, but so sad tonight as he is in tears with the dog he can't save.

Lovely sunny day here today, been busy food shopping, washing, sorting mum etc. The sun is really warming up now. No complaints from me though right now as the temperature is just right, not too hot, not too cold.

We went to vote tonight as the weather was so nice and took the dog. I love seeing all the dog photos on the  #dogsatpollingstations section on twitter when it is voting days.

Goodnight both xxx

Hi Mollie and Hicky.
Another nice day here, but with quite a cold wind at times. But the sun was warm when the wind calmed.
Got a couple of grass cutting jobs done, plus a strimming/weeding/hedge-cutting job.

I voted this morning, but don't think there's much interest in the local elections. The general one has over-shadowed it a bit.
Didn't know there was that section on twitter Mollie.

Sounds like you had a nice lunch out Hicky, and a nice supper (after a delay).

Yes I would get the gardener to help you with the greenhouse.
I helped my Dad build my one, and it was very complicated as I recall. Loads of little clips to hold the glass in place. Of course the system might be different now?
What sort of hotel do you want to build?

All those people should have been interviewed properly when Maddie McCann disappeared. Too late to do it now.

Hi Mollie. Yes the Supervet is great, but he can't win them all.
Glad you got the nice weather to do your chores today.
I was just thinking today that part of the reason the grass hasn't taken off up here yet is that it's been unusually dry. We may not get the usual Spring boost of growth, and it might just roll on into Summer? Of course there's plenty of time for a deluge yet.

After Supervet I watched Car Crash Britain: Caught on Camera. That would have appealed to you Hicky. All about accidents caught by dash cams.
Also showed how risky riding motorbikes is.
Then I watched the last of the series of The Last Kingdom.

thats good you got some jobs done again. Oh yes, I guess it has been a lot drier than normal for this time of year so might be why growth is slower. Not that we are complaining about it being drier, of course.

A chilly wind here today, but inbetween the clouds I did get a quick sit to read my magazine on the swingchair when the sun came out.

Yes don't think there was much interest in the local elections, as it is the big one next month.

Hicky

hope it was nice enough for you to get things done in your garden.

Any meals out today?

Am tired out now after trying to sort mum's care out today and then go food shopping too. Also got washing dried nicely in the wind/sun.
Son is pleased as he has heard he has been offerred a Uni place, but it is conditional in that he has to get so many ucas points on his current course, so he is real busy trying to get the work done he needs to.
Daughter also has a lot on, with her final assignment due end of May.
Looking forward to unwinding in front of Gogglebox.

Have a good evening both xxx

Hi Mollie.
Nice warm sunny day here, but still a bit of a chilly wind at times.
Got plenty done.

Glad you got a bit of good weather to sit on your swing chair.
That's good news that your son got a conditional offer for a Uni place. At least he knows what he has to do.
How is your OH's chest now?

Watched Posh Pawn then Lethal Weapon.
Often watch Gogglebox when it's repeated.

Evening Both.

Friday - This is yesterdays post, it was still in the box.

Another lovely day here, 16c full sun and 15 mph wind.

Been in the garden all day, been changing the seating on my 4 wheel truck, making it into a small bench and making it so i can lift a central board to turn it's direction.

The gardener came and moved No1 compost into No2, great, also moved a tree 6" then fed all the trees.

Had a list of what we should be doing for the wedding, only a preliminary schedule mind. 7th Nov fly to Singapore, 3 nights stay, fly to Sydney for 2 weeks, fly to Hawaii for 6 nights, fly to LA for 2 nights, then fly to JFK then fly to Manchester.4th Dec.

Mollie, Yes, a fantastic dressing, i would have been lost without it, couldn't believe what i saw when i removed it, you could hardly tell i'd hurt it.

Asked the gardener if he would give me a hand with the greenhouse, no problem.

I can't watch vets, i can't relate animals to me.

Good Election Results for me anyway, who are Ukip, Labour and LibDems again, oh dear, so love to hear them putting a brave face on disaster, we'll just have to get our message across better.

Emptybox,  I don't think the greenhouse build has ever changed, i had one at the other place and when i look at these detailed instructions they are exactly the same.

The Insect hotel will be similar to this, but this is only 20cm (8") square, want to build one 1m square. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Royal...6JWK5G8VMX7H1AAC3ZWC

I watched car crash Britain, if you google dash cam crashes there are thousands from Russia etc, every car there has one, i think they should be law as in many accidents the wrong side is prosecuted, i would never drive without one myself.

Yes, Motorbikes have 2 main problems, 1. you can't stop in a hurry, 2. you can't turn handlebars unless you are going at 5 mph, to turn at speed you have to lay down.

Just made an omelette, peppers, mushrooms, tomato, cheese and eggs, yummy.

Evening Both.

Strange yesterdays post was still here when i came to the thread.

Anywa, a cool day here, no sun, just 10c and some wind.

Made an Insect Hotel, just got to furnish it now, it's 450mm wide by 750 high with 4 levels of 9 chambers, i used some of the wood that the compost box was made of, got to cut sections of wire mesh to protect certain area's.

Have got bamboo and some shredded paper but thats all so have to find other stuff.

Made another couple of manikins of potted shrimps today, ate some more of a previous batch, it's so nice.

Just made another meal of sweet and sour prawns with egg noodles and rice noodles.

Mollie, Thats good, your lad getting offered a place in Uni, there;s always a catch.

Yes, an important Month for your Daughter then.

Emptybox, That Post Pawn is pretty good, the no Post one is pretty rubbish, and scary.

Hicky

glad you are managing to get out in the garden.

Well don't think you can say the vet show is irrelevant to you now if you are having an insect hotel! I thought you were joking at first until I saw they really do sell them on Amazon.

Hope you enjoyed your sweet/sour prawns.

Wow, that is some good itinery for the wedding. We loved Singapore as a stopover. So clean and such lovely hotels and so many nice places to visit there. I like the orchid gardens. Even the airport is so good, we always chose to arrive there early to look round it. And then to Sydney, Hawaii. and to see LA as well! Wow!  Is JFK New York? So are you staying in New York as well? What an experience to look forward to.

Emptybox

that is handy the good weather meant you got a lot done again.

Hope you enjoy your sphag bol and beer tonight.

Been busy with mum, washing etc, but got a nice read on the swingchair too. How nice it is so dry so far this spring.

Am really enjoying BGT so far tonight.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening both.
Another lovely day here.
Didn't do much outside apart from washing the van.

Hi Hicky.
Wow, that's a lot of flying to a lot of different places. And you'd be away for a month. That's a wedding and a half. A trip of a lifetime.

Oh it's an insect hotel. That's clever that you made one. How do you get the insects to check in though? And do you offer them a full English for brekkie?
Think I may have seen a smaller version in someone's garden, but didn't know what it was.
That's good that you were able to alter your truck, and got a hand form the gardener.
I've seen those Russian car crash videos.

Hi Mollie. Yes it's been a very dry Spring, even up here. Not sure if it's all that good for the plants though. They could do with more rain. I'm not complaining though.

Didn't think BGT was that great tonight. They put through some rubbish acts. Didn't see the point in the 65 year old DJ?

Evening both.

Not bad here today, 14c sunny and only 10 mph wind.

Been working on the Insect Hotel, have ordered the Fir Cones, filled one section with sphagnum Moss, one with dry leaves, one with old wood branches cut to 15cm, made 1 section with a slot for butterfly. possibly, got one section with wood, it's kindling, already cut to length, need bamboo, mine is too thin, 1 section is going to have brown shredded card, have got 9 or more sections, some will have chicken wire over the section, i have a hand stapler which fixes it.

Strange how you can have a bee on an apple tree and on a lower branch it has quite big apples all ready.

Mollie, In Singapore we would probably stay in the Airport Hotel, whatever is easiest really, I think JFK is just the Airport to get the flight home, as you say, thats sure some itinerary, a trip of a lifetime.

Emptybox, I'm putting a notice on the insect hotel with the room prices, just hope it doesn't get overbooked, there should be room for everyone, no tv though, they will have to make their own amusement.

It's 55 years since i swam on Changi Beach.

Can't believe the exchange rate, when i was in Singapore the rate was ÂĢ1 GBP to 8ž SGD, now it's ÂĢ1 GBP to !.7 SGD, shock or what, it's gone down 4.5 times, it's only worth 20% of what it was now.

BGT was rubbish, they are just putting rubbish through to keep the numbers up, it's a joke really, but they must have a figure to reach each week maybe, they wouldn't be going against Simon unless he said they could.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Cloudy and cold here. Under 10 degrees for most of the day. Bit of rain in the morning, with a little bit of sunshine late afternoon.

Bit of drama at the supermarket when I was there. The fire alarm went off and we had to abandon our trolleys and go out into the car park.
A fire engine turned up, but it turned out to be a false alarm. I heard someone had been smoking where they shouldn't have been or something.
Anyway we had to stand out in the cold for half an hour while they sorted it, then we were allowed back in to continue shopping.

Hope you get lots of visitors to your hotel.
Oh yes, forgot you'd been to Singapore before. You'll not get as much for your money now.
I suppose in BGT they've got to get rid of a lot of acts in the next stage, so easier if they are rubbish.

Watched 2 films tonight. Captain America then Prometheus, both on Channel 4.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Another nice day, sun 95% of the time, that will do me, 14c with 7-12 mph winds.

I moved some slate over to the area were the compost silo was because it left bare weed fabric, thats sorted, sort a few trips as i can't lift much and slate is so heavy.

Neighbour brought more grass for me.

Filled another of the Hotel rooms, shredded egg boxes, i had originally altered the shredder as it was too limited, mind you, this is the paper one i'm talking about.

Washed my hair as i have Docs in the Morning, Foot surgeon in the afternoon, getting my hair cut again Wednesday (could be brekkie out) nice.

Just made another stir Fry, Chicken from yesterday, peppers, mushrooms, Chorizo, red onion, Pad Thai sauce and egg noodles.

Have ordered a phone cover for my Galaxy S5 as the expensive cover on at the moment seems to answer most calls before i can get it out of my pocket, it has a plastic clear section which if touched when live it decides on some actions to take, it doesn't wait for me, it can send "Busy", "call Back", it can turn the phone off, it's crazy, had enough so getting another type which i hope might work better.

That was a bit off a bother at the supermarket, oh dear.

It's crazy them putting through such hopeless acts, i mean, one had 4 buzzers and still got through, annoying.

But i don't think we will see them again will we, don't the 4 stooges cull them first.?

hope it was a bit warmer up there for you today. It was certainly warm here today.  Did you manage to get any garden jobs done today?

How very dare someone smoke in Sainsburys where they shouldn't ,causing you to abandon your shopping trolley in mid flow, and having to stand out in the cold for half hour! Cheek of it!  At least it was just a faulse alarm though and your shopping wasn't burnt!  Hope it didn't cause you to forget any of your shopping or your frozen peas hadn't defrosted by the time you got back?

Hicky

that is good you had some nice weather. Gosh heavy slate...yes you need to take care you don't carry around too much of it at a time. !

I hope the docs go ok tomorrow, let's hope he can update you on the water infection, and sort your proper meds out if needed. Hope the foot thing goes ok too. I think you may be tempted to a meal out of some sort as you are so busy tomorrow?

Hope your new phone cover proves more suitable.

Managed some time on the swing chair today, so was pleased with that, as it was so warm and sunny.

Mum's carer forgot to put her day centre bag on the back of her wheelchair today, so texted me in a panic, she had driven 8 miles to the wrong place to take the bag!  Luckily she did find it in the end, but her forgetfullness gave her a 16 mile round trip. She is a good carer and didn't complain though.

Watching "Little Blue Blue". So very sad especially as it is a true story, but very well made.

I heard Rylan say on This Morning that Ivana Trump may be going back into CBB. Not sure about that, I do prefer it when we have completely new HM's.

Wonder if BB is back next month?

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening both.
Another cold windy day here. About 8 degrees at best. Woolly hat for work today.
I think it's supposed to be the last cold day though.
Think it's been an east west split, rather than north south. The west has been warm and the east has been cold.

Good idea to spruce yourself up for the doc and foot bod Hicky.
Not good if your phone cover answers your phone before you can get to it.
I have my work phone in a holster, and if it rings, and I take it out the holster, it stops ringing before I touch any of the buttons. Not sure how that works?
That's what I was meaning about BGT. They've got to get rid of a lot before the next round, so it makes it easier if they put of rubbish ones through as cannon fodder.

Hi Mollie. I never thought about the frozen stuff in my trolley. I did have some frozen prawns, but think they were still frozen when I got home, so should be OK.

Glad you got the good weather to make good use of your swing chair.
Pity the carer had a bit of a wild goose chase, but it was her own mistake I guess.
I'd heard the rumour about Ivana Trump. Forgot she'd been in before.
Not sure what the dates for BB are this year?

Watched Police Interceptors then The Island then Mind the Age Gap.
Can't believe none of the younger ones had a clue who Angela Merkel is.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Quite a nice day, only started at 11c with cloud early on then sun, light 5 mph winds.

Got to the Docs ok, water sample was fine, all tests good, going to take a sample back after 2 weeks.

Then we went for Brekkie at Carr Farm, very nice, found some of the bamboo i wanted for the bees, it was in the form of an edging, it was 30cm pieces of quite a good size bamboo, so many it was 1m long, just what i wanted, i also bought a pack of 6ft canes, need them to peg the net above the cherry branches to stop the birds standing too close.

We also bought a big pack of Bacon Ribs for tea as O/H said she has a cabbage to have with it.

Then we went home, was having a coffee and relaxing when i thought i better check what time the foot appointment was, wow, it was 11,40 and it was 11,20, we shot off to get that sorted, my feet are good again now.

Tested the leaf shredder, it works fine, it must chop the leaves into minute pieces, can now hurry to get more leaves dried, the amount of space needed to store the chopped leaves will be minute.

Finished the Bug Hotel, took the cover off the butterfly section, have scrapped that now, have made 2 sections for the bees, cut the bamboo into the right length, just waiting for the Fir Cones, will start to make the structure to hold the hotel against the fence.

My lad said if flying around was too much for me we could go by a cruise.

Mollie, I always seem to be waiting for something to come from Amazon, haven't got a delivery yet for the new cover, it must be coming from Mars.

CBB a long way off, waiting for BB now though.

The Asparagus is doing well, gave some to O/H's Mother, she enjoyed it, the neighbour had hers with salmon she said, will have more for them soon.

That was a blow, the carer forgetting the day bag, at least she got it sorted.

Emptybox, It said it could be frosty tonight so put the grafted plants back inside the summerhouse, the heater comes on at night to keep it at 10c at least.

The phone once activated by a call livens up all the keys etc so when you get hold of the think it can think you press a button, O/H has said to me before when she has rung that it said i was unavailable at the moment. but my cover has this clear plastic window, have a feeling it is supposed to be used to save you opening the cover, or maybe for taking pictures with the cover on.

The Eurovision 1st semi final of the song contest tonight, Building Alaska now.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
That's great that your water sample was clear.
Perhaps they are finally getting on top of this infection?
Glad you managed to make your foot appointment, even if you had to dash.

What a difference a day makes. 15 degrees, wall to wall sunshine and very little wind. Like going from winter to summer in one day. Woolly hat yesterday to sun hat today.
Got a lot of grass cutting done.

Glad you enjoyed your brekkie out.
Hope the bees like bamboo. Is that to attract honey bees or other sorts of bee?
That's good that your leaf shredder works as you hoped.
Yes I guess a cruise would be more relaxing than all the flying. Take longer though.

Doubt if we'll get any frosts now? Hope not anyway. I'm thinking of putting my tomato plants out into the greenhouse in a few days. They're getting a bit big for their little pots.

Watched Elizabeth I: Battle for the Throne, with Lily Cole. Then Mind the Age Gap. Getting a bit tired of that though. Not sure why they have it on every night?

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

A lovely day here 15c at least and sunny, very light winds.

Was out early to get hair cut, went for brekkie, yummy, was going to straight to Costco but realised they didn't open till 12.00 so that scuppered that.

Installed the bug hotel, the Fir Cones came, all finished, slightly over engineered i suppose but thats the way i work.

Shredded more leaves, wow, it works super, i stuff the internal chamber first then top up the hopper then turn the machine on and push the leaves down with the device supplied with the machine.

Have now got more leaves out in various containers to dry, even made a big bag with insect netting with the sides held with stainless pegs.

I have covered my middle raised bed with the hoops and the insect netting i bought for it as the blackbirds are digging holes looking for insects.

I brought the grafted plants in again as forecast says clear sky frost possible, the tomato plant is getting a bit big to keep bringing inside, might have to plant it and protect it outside.

Have made a list of what food i have in the freezer so i can alter the qty's when i eat some, the list shows how many of each i have, if it gets low i can order more.

My water has looked good today, don't want to get my hopes up just yet though as i've had it looking good before.

Glad you've got some good weather at last, about time.

I watched Masterchef, think it was a semi final,  some Finals tonight from SA, GP's on at the same time, recording i suppose.

I sometimes start to watch something then get bored so i re-search again.

Hicky
