Evening Both.

Not bad today, 9c here lots of sun, hardly any wind.

Did some pottering in the garden, worked on another netting sleeve, put a couple of small shelves up under the window in the summer house for when i get the tomato plants.

Cooked half a boned leg of Lamb for tea, very nice too, had it with chips O/H made and chilli sauce.

Mollie, It's not often you come out of hospital at the time you should be going in.

The fence looks lovely, it matched the other sections of fencing perfect.

I've ordered some Nylon wire to do more trellis support for the Kiwi Berry plant, i'm going to try Strimmer cord instead of the real stuff which is about 6 times the price.

I have printed the specific page from the manual and stuck it on the back of the clothes cupboard in the hall, the problem is after resetting it all you have to reprogram the central heating settings for the week, it only takes 5 minutes though,

Emptybox, Am not uncomfortable now, it didn't last long, thank heavens.

Never heard of Remix OS, why would you want that, how would you get protection from virus's etc, oh, just read it, it converts the machine to a gaming machine to run Apps.

I like watching food unwrapped.

Loved the Robot Wars, wow, fantastic.

I'm sure i have a couple of usb extension cables, when i was working at the Computer fair i bought so much stuff because i could get if for coppers.

I know from reading many features that what the girls do with the hair does so much damage, often the extensions are glued in, tbh i can't see why they even want them, i don't think it does anything for them, 99% of the time you know it's fake, and if it wasn't you would still think it was.

Even Wigs are expensive if they are any good.

Emptybox

shame your remix still didn't work, maybe it will be ok when you try later.

Interesting article about Ais and her hair. I agree with Hicky. And I think those extensions look horrible when you notice them from the back (I did a few times for those in the BB house), and they look unfomfy too. I am not surprised they damage the hair as they use glue. I can never understand why they don't just grow their hair if they want long hair? Far easier.

I didn't like Ais in the BB house, (nor last time she was on BBOTS), but I must admit she does make interesting reading. I prefer the black hair to the red.

Hicky

that is nice you got in the garden whilst the weather was good. Very nice here too today. Got washing nice and dry.

Glad to hear you are pleased with the fence, and it matches so well.

Good idea to put the page from the manual on the back of the cupboard.

Nice day today, went to Asda for a few clothes for the family. Leg feeling a lot better than it was.

Didn't like any of the tv shows tonight.

Goodnight both xx

M

Evening both.
Not bad day here. Mildish and sunny.
Went into town to get my prescription and a few other things.

Tried Remix OS on another PC and it installed without problem. Yesterday I tried it on two other PCs and it wouldn't install at all, so looks like it will only work on certain ones. This wasn't really the computer I wanted to use it on, but at least it worked.
Hicky it's just a version of Android, but designed like a desktop OS, so has a taskbar and menu etc. But it just uses the same Android apps that you have on your phone, so has the same security as that, but obviously using your computer monitor.
But yeah, I'll probably use it most for playing Android games.

Glad the weather was nice enough for you to potter in the garden Hicky.
That's a good idea using strimmer cord instead of garden wire.
The USB extension lead was because I have two USB3 ports at the back of my PC in the lounge, and I've just bought a USB3 pendrive. So this lead allows me to plug it in without hauling the PC out every time. All the other PCs are older, and only have USB2.
Glad you're pleased with the new fence panels.

Hi Mollie, glad your leg is much better, and it didn't hinder you in your Asda trip.
No, I don't understand this hair extension craze either? Baffling.

Watched Mutiny. It's a bit like 'The Island' the Bear Gryls thing, except they go from island to island on a small boat, retracing the voyage by Captain Bligh after he'd been thrown off the Bounty.
Now going to watch '1066' on iplayer.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Quit a nice day here, 11c and sunny spells, no wind.

Got in the garden, did a few jobs, O/H painted the fence, well, started anyway.

My seeds came, they had been delivered to the wrong address, nut have been a standing postman as my Avenue follows on around a bend to another road and depending where you start from you get mixed up with what road is what.

Anyway, i can plant out the Lettuce and the Peas and am expecting a nice day tomorrow.

Mollie, I like to put instructions if needed local to were it's used, not sure why the comms disconnected, all that happened that day was the worker on the fence running his disc cutting machine to cut the old bolts off the fence concrete posts.

The heating display is just inside the hall on a side wall, it doesn't take a lot to mess things up, everything is wireless these days.

Emptybox, Strange your Remix OS only works on certain computers, must be a good reason.

The plastic/nylon cord is for the overhead support that i have been lacing with the cord, on the 4x2 frame that runs around the raised beds, i am making a network of cord, each side has vine eyes fitted at 75mm intervals and i run the cord across between them, it takes a lot of cord as the gap is 1.8m and am trying to get the Kiwi Berry to run across them so it's branches can run along the cords, it can take years to mature, it's in a tub and is about 12ft long so far.

Watching bear #Grills now, till Antiques Road Trip comes on at 7pm, I try to check every hour what i'm going to watch next.

Hicky

Hicky

glad your seeds came, fancy them being delivered to the wrong address!

Hope the weather stays nice tomorow for you to do your planting. Strange how it disconnected when all you had going on was the fence man cutting bolts.

The kiwi berry sounds like it might be complicated, but I am sure if anyone is going to suceed, it will be you with your growing experience.

Emptybox

glad you had a nice day, we did today, did't see the sun, but can't complain as it was dry and mild.

That is good the remix worked, but shame it wasn't on the machine you wanted it to work on.

managed to take dog a walk, but by the time I had prepared tea and sorted washing out, my leg was achy again.  What a slow process this healing is.

Watching the GP show, then the property show after.

Evening both.
Not bad day, a bit dull.
Didn't do much.

Glad you got your seeds in the end Hicky. Hope you get a nice day for planting.
Hope the strimmer cord will be strong enough to support your kiwi plant.

Glad you managed a dog walk Mollie, but pity your leg was achy again.

Watched Benidorm, now watching a recording of 'Who Do You Think You Are' with Sophie Raworth.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A beautiful day here, 11c and sunny most of the time.

Been outside most of the day, my strimmer cord came, have install what i needed, it only took 10m so plenty left.

Couldn't think what to have for an evening meal, had bacon and egg on toast for brekkie, then at 1pm had water biscuits with cream cheese and smoked salmon, yummy.

Just made a curry Risotto, wow, it's fab, instead of meat i have used Chorizo sausage, and for the curry paste i used Madras, i followed the menu so i gave myself the best chance, it worked out well.

Mollie, I have decided against sowing the seeds yet outside with the low temperature being around 6c still.

I could plant them in the summerhouse but at night it's only 10c in there. and don't really want to pay to keep it at 20c this year.

I cant think what else would cause the Hive display to disconnect from the receiver but some machines can send interference waves through the power lines.

I saw the GP show, it's very good.

Emptybox,  The strimmer cord is 2.4mm, i think it would hold a terrific weight, mind you this is Orange but they make all sorts of colours but it seems the companies all charge different prices.

The next thing i need is more bird netting, another 10 metres should do it.

I recorded Benidorm, must remember to watch it.

Have made my list out for food tomorrow, i'll leave it ready for O/H to take to work.

Hicky

both xxx

Emtybox

did you have a quiet day again?  You said you got your prescription the other day, are you still managing on 1 tablet a day?

Hicky

that is handy your strimmer string came on time for today's nice weather day. I thoght strimmer string was usually green, welll the one we have always seem to be green. Orange sounds nicer though.

Where do you get your bird netting from? I know you used to go to B and Q for the pensioners Wednesday discount. Do you still go there now and again?

Glad you enjoyed your curry. Yes probably best to wait awhile to make sure the cold weather has gone before you sow.

Yes the GP show is fascinating and so well put together, interesting how they update at the end. But a sad one last night.

Lovely day here today, got lots of washing dry.

Early hours yestrday daughter started vomiting and it has lasted over 24 hours! Poor thing, it is at last easing though tonight, she has asked for some bread sticks to nibble on. Son said they told him at college a sickness bug was going round the college, the tutor had had it as well as the students. Daughter is keeping out the of the way in the hope it does't go round the family. Lucky we have 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets in this house!

Watched Prime Suspect, which was good, and the dog show.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi Hicky.
Very nice day here as well. A bit windy first thing, but it calmed down and plenty of sun.
Pruned my apple tree. Well I pruned some of the larger sticking out branches anyway. Looks tidier, but really needs some work on the inside branches to give it more space.
But I don't really get much blossom or any usable fruit from it anyway, so not that bothered.

Probably best not to plant the seeds if you think it's too cold yet.
I'm never sure what the different colours of strimmer cord mean. The stuff I use (for strimming) is 2.4mm yellow and has a round profile. You can get square or star shaped cord, but I haven't found that makes much difference.

That sounds like a nice risotto you had for supper. I had chicken kievs.
Hope your Hive system doesn't give you more trouble now.

Watched The Nightmare Neighbour Next Door and then The Great British Benefits Handout.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not a bad day, 13c here, lots of cloud but had some unexpected sun as well, no wind.

my latest gear i ordered has been dispatched, the netting and the clips for it, also the 1.8m flexible hoop stuff.

I decided to plant 6 of the sunflower seeds and grow in the summerhouse, i have the heated grow thingie if needed, also the ledge in front of the windows.

Had a bacon and egg roll for brekkie, a tub of brown shrimps on a roll for midday snack and just had 2 burgers and onion for tea, with a mini christmas pudding and double cream for afters.

My shopping came so am well stocked up, it will probably be Chorizo slices for supper.

Mollie,  /the strimmer cord is solid, very strong and hard, this is what i got, 3 x 15m, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GKQL678?psc=1

The bird netting is this one, it should do fine for me. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anti-...ection/dp/B006931VUU there are dozens of offers but i read the review first.

Haven't been to B&Q for ages, it's quite a way away from me now and with me not driving, i'll only get there if we really need to go.

Yes, the old feller with the back pain, which was his chest, bad news for him.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, it's awful to have sickness like that.

Some people can carry the bugs but not get the illness themselves.

Emptybox, On my apple tree pruning list i have a few things that need to look at, branches growing into the center, growing down, or crossing, or growing along under another branch, or damaged, or dead, or water shoots, or growing at a sharp angle which would cause a split with weight from a heavy crop.

The Hive system is behaving, strange that, but it won't take a lot to disrupt the communications.

Didn't watch nightmare neighbours, sometimes there are too many shows to watch.

Hicky

both

Hicky

that is a bit of a change for you,.... two burgers and Christmas pud/double cream for tea. Bet you enjoyed it though. That strimmer string looks real strong and very orange too, so I am sure it will serve you well.  Your bird wire certainly has some good reviews, I too always look up reviews before I buy. (and for hotels, places to go and resteraunts too). And so far it has proved to be a good way of checking up on things beforehand.

Oh ...of course, I was forgetting you had moved so B and Q might be a journey for you.

That is good your shopping arrived on good form as usual.

Daughter not eaten again all day today, although she has not been sick today and last night. She said the thought of eating still makes her feel nauseous, and she is so tired out now, so is resting in bed. I hope she starts eating tomorrow as it has been 3 days now with nothing other than apple juice. That is interesting what you say about some people can carry a bug, but not get the illness. I just hope no one else in the family gets it now.

Emptybox

glad you got the nice weather too, so you could start the pruning of the apple trees. Won't be long till the grass cutting starts now for you, with this bit of mild weather. OUrs is certainly growing now and could do with a cut. OH trimmed back the bushes in our back today, We only have a small garden so not much work to do on it. I have asked the landlord if we can put a few slabs down so we can put table and chairs down. We only have a few slabs, the rest is grass. (weedy grass at that!).

Gogglebox tonight, do you stil watch it? I do and enjoy it.

Lovely day here today too, got all my washing dry on the outside line.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.
Another mostly nice day here. A little drizzle this afternoon, and a high of 10 degrees.

Sorry to hear your daughter has been so ill Mollie. Good that the vomiting has stopped. Hope she'll be back on her food soon, but best not to rush it.
Yes, I'm still on one prescription tablet a day, plus various other non-prescription ones, plus a pro-biotic yogurt drink every day.

Had a message today from the expected woman wanting her grass cut. I guess I'll do it next week some time. My own grass isn't really growing yet.
I've also go a few evergreen hedges to cut, but I'll just ease back into work from next week.
Good idea to put a few slabs down as a base for your table Mollie.

Interesting choice of food today Hicky.
That looks good value strimmer cord. Think I usually pay ÂĢ5 for 15m?
Yes, that's what I should really do for the apple tree, but I just concentrate on not letting it get too big.

Didn't watch Gogglebox, watched Lethal Weapon instead.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A bit cloudy here, 12c though, no wind.

Didn't do much, stayed outside most of the day, just messing about looking for bits to do, pruned some bits of dead wood from the small trees in the front, they are O/H's really.

Just had bacon and black pudding for brekkie then later had a salad with a tin of Ox Tongue, just had a ribeye steak with mushrooms and chilli sauce.

Mollie,  Hope your daughter is able to eat soon, she will be feeling weak, you can buy some liquid meals now, they do a brekkie i know that.

In a couple of weeks i suppose i can take the frost protection off the trees and feed the trees, will get the gardener in as i want the tubs topping up with manure and compost and it's a bit heavy for me to lug round.

Emptybox, It does seem a bit early for grass cutting but my neighbour had hers cut 2 weeks ago as it also got rid of the leaves he had blown onto the grass.

Not sure what to watch on tv tonight, Saturday Night Takeaway is on, probably watch that, not watching The Voice, not that bothered, too many fellers singing.

Hicky

both xx

Emptybox

I thought you might be getting your first grass cutting call soon. Is this the same lady who always rings first to get hers done?

Hope you enjoy your sphag bol and beer tonight.

That is good you are managing on only 1 tablet still. I try to remember to drink one of those yogurt drinks a day too, they are supposed to be good for you.

You ought to give Gogglebox a go again, it is very funny, and I am fascinated with all their pets.

Hicky

That is good you were able to get outdoors again all day.

You had a good variety on your food again today, looks like your OH did a good job on the shopping.

Yes shouldn't be too long till you can take frost protection off now.

Daughter still not eaten all day again, now it is day 4 with no food. She has just asked for some crisps as she feels she needs some salt, she said she does't know if she can eat them, but will suck the salt off. I have got some of those breakfast replacement drinks you mention HIcky, so can try her with one. Son has them when he has to go to college early and he feels too tired to eat.

Lovely day, went walk on seafront with dog, and met up with mum on seafront with her carer. I clung onto dog's pram to hold me up as knee still sore if i walk far, and didn't want another fall. Dog enjoyed her walk but can't walk far with her arthritus. Lots of kiddies said to their parents says "look, there is a doggie in a pram". I have seen a few of the doggie prams on seafront now, ideal as elderly dogs can still get out in the fresh air and I no longer have to carry her when her legs get stiff and tired. We enjoyed chips on seafront with a little wooden spoon.  I also  like mine with mayo and ketchup.

Landlord says it is ok to put slabs down as long as it is done neatly. OH quite good at things like that, so he should be fine. I fancy a swing chair with a roof  shade thingie ready for all that sun we are going to get soon. (crossing fingers behind my back!). OH seen some slabs in Wicks that look like they will do the job.

Watching Ant and Dec, then looking forward to the Voice. I don't prefer either male or femal voices, just like someone who is a good singer, and think it is nice if they are a bit different. Interesting we have a few duos this year.

I did enjoy Tom Jones singing last week.

Have a good evening both. xxx

M

Evening both.
Drizzly here all day so didn't do anything outside.

Good choice of meals again today Hicky. I had a fried brekkie as well. Then avocado salad for lunch and spag bol for supper.

Yes Mollie, it's the person I expected to call about their grass, as it was getting a bit long. But that's mainly because it didn't get cut right at the end of last season. Wouldn't think many more would need doing till the end of the month, but I'll go out and about next week and have a look.

Pity your daughter still hasn't eaten properly. Wouldn't have thought sucking crisps would do much good?
Good that you got a nice day to get out with the dog and meet your Mum on the front. Must make a funny sight you hobbling along pushing your dog in a pram?
That's good that you got the go ahead to put some slabs down.

Hicky, it was Will's team on The Voice, and that was 5 girls and only 1 boy, so you missed out. Predictably the public put the bloke through though.
Watched a bit of Ant and Dec beforehand. Hadn't seen their show before.

emptybox

Evening Both.

10c here today, some sun, cloud and rain late on, not much wind.

Mended the roof on the childrens cabin, not too much of a problem, looked at the gazebo roof, will build the scaffold back up then i can do the job myself.

Made an omelette for brekkie with chopped up blackpud, bacon, mushrooms with some Cayenne pepper to liven it up, 2 beaten eggs folded over, after cooking i finish off under the grill.

My neighbour got someone in to trim the trees at the bottom of their garden, one big oak overlooks mine, it does shade me some from the lovely sun so any pruning is good news, it is a lot better now.

we decided to go out for tea, went to a lovely Restaurant in New Brighton, we have had a meal there before, unfortunately they didn't even have room for 2, they have a carvery Sunday and are very busy, we need to book, if we had waited 25 minutes we may have got a seat, anyway, we went to the chip shop a few doors away and decided to eat in, fish and chips.

Mollie, Thats not good, your daughter still not eating, 4 days seems a long time.

That sounds good, a swing seat or chair is great, my Nanna always had one in her garden, a big steel frame on that held about 3 people, and facing South, of course.

I watched some of Ant & Dec but got bored, just filled in, there's plenty to watch.

Robot Wars on at 7pm, the Jump Final at 8.30, the Voice is in the middle somewhere but won't be watching, will probably watch the live shows after these.

Emptybox, I tried Avocado's a while back, not impressed, can't see why they rave over them.

Yes, i suppose i missed the best of the girls by missing the Voice, it just goes to show, with girls voting girl singers don't have a chance.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

pity you got drizzle yestrday, but at least that gave you time to cook and enjoy your cooked brekkie. Let's hope you get some dry weather so you can go round and check your gardens and sort your lady's grass out.

Yes 5 girls on the Voice last night, and I think the girl in the red dress was better than the fella. I thought Steve Mulhurn was funny on Ant and Dec, so was "I predict a riot" at the end, poor Rickky Wilson.

Yes I guess we are an odd sight out walking...me hobbling with arthtritic dog in pram, mum in wheelchair, OH and 2 lads. (daughter absent as unwell). Quite a procession!

Hicky

Glad you got chance to mend the kiddie;s cabin roof. Hopefully they will get good use of it with spring on the way now.

what a pity the resteraunt was too full, good job you managed to get a meal in the chippie instead though.

That is a releif the tree got cut back, it is so annoying if something shades you from the sun. we need to get all the sun we can when we can in this country!

Daughter has asked for some dry bread, a bag of crisps and an actimel, so hopefully if she can eat a little she will start to perk up. I will give her Baroca vitamins when she feels up to it as she hasn't eaten for so long.

OH has started to prep for the patio. He has measured up and dug the grass up. Hope the forecast is right, as it is just soil now and he wants to put the slabs down tomorrow on top of sand and cement. He is also going to put some concrete round my washing line as it keeps leaning to one side.

Some girl singers on The Voice again for HIcky. I liked the last girl singer and the boy rocker tonight.

Watching Good karma hospital after, I have been enjoying that.

Anyone watching that 3 part programme on bbc1 called The Replacement? It is really good, the one woman is so creepy and scary in the part she plays. Last episode tomorrow.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening.

Not bad day. Mild and some sunshine. Some black clouds floating about threatening rain, but not delivering.
Supermarket as usual plus a pile of ironing.

Sounds like a nice omlette Hicky. Pity your meal out was somewhat thwarted, but at least you got fisn n chips.
Well done on fixing the childrens' cabin roof.
That was handy that your neighbour got his trees pruned and let some more light into your garden.

I like Avocados they have a nice slightly nutty flavour. Bit tricky to get them just ripe enough to eat. I think the trick is to keep them out of the fridge till they are soft enough; then you can keep them in the fridge for a few more days after that. Quite expensive though. I don't buy one every week.

Hi Mollie. Some good girls on The Voice again tonight. Wasn't keen on the young boy, but see he got through anyway. I didn't think he could sing at all?
The coaches seemed to like him as well. I thought the Keziah girl should have got through.

Glad your daughter is starting to eat something at least.
Your OH isn't hanging about getting those slabs down?

I've liked the Good Karma Hospital as well. Very moving when the woman got up to watch the turtles (if you see what I mean).
Haven't seen The Replacement though.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Cloudy for all morning, some sun this afternoon, 10c no wind.

My Hoop rods came, also my bird netting, went back and ordered some insect netting for the hoops and some clips also some clear plastic  to go over the hoops as well, i should be able to plant some veg then.

Started getting the planks together for the scaffold to repair the gazebo roof. only a few hours work left to do now.

Just had a marinaded Poussin with a homemade spicy coating, it will get a better coating when i get the rest of the spices.

Mollie, Hope your daughter starts to eat something substantial soon, her poor body won't be happy at all.

Hope your O/H can get the slabs down, it's going to be so nice for you.

It's a good idea to concrete the base post for the rotary dryer as they will always tilt otherwise.

I didn't watch the Voice, unless there's some girls left there will be nothing for me to watch in a couple of weeks.

Emptybox, You get plenty of time to get your ironing done these days, not so much in the summer,

I was pleased my neighbour got the trees pruned, they aren't even hers, they are in the ground between her fence and the school fence which is about 6 metres, they do shade me a little, my raised beds are at the side and can do with all the sun they can get.

The last avocado i had i tried scooping the flesh out with a spoon but it had no flavour at all and to mix it with other flavours is just a waste of time, i like food to stand on their own feet so to speak.

With the winter being pretty mild i haven't really eaten into my stock of tomato soups, they will have to last till next year i think, unless i fancy some soon.

Hicky

Emptybox

glad you had a nice day weather wise.... seems a shame to be stuck indoors ironing though. But at least you got out to the supermarket.

Yes some good singers on the Voice last night.

And Karma hospital as you say was very moving. I like the young girl who plays the doctor. (have you noticed how pretty she is?!).

Hicky

we had the same weather as you today, but at least it was dry.

That is good you have nearly finished the work on the gazebo roof, and you are nearly ready to plan the veg.

A bit tough on your neighbour that the overgrown trees she has to prune aren't even hers. And a shame it affects you too.

OH has put some of the slabs down, but is going to add 4 more to make sure we have room for a little table/chairs as well as the swing chair. The DIY store said they needed to get another pallet of the slabs out as he had the last few, so he can go back tomorrow for them. He is just waiting for the concrete to set round the rotary washing pole now before I use it again.

Daughter asked me to make her some potoes with a vegatable stock cube and she ate that, so she is getting there slowly. She managed to drink an actimel too. Doggie enjoyed her little walk round the estate as it was nice and dry.

Going to watch Broadchurch tonight, Didn't watch the 1st 2 episodes, so hope I can still follow it as I know some of the characters were in the other 2 episodes.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie and Hicky.
Not bad day but cloudy all day.

Got my mower ready for action, and made sure my spare one and the strimmer were starting OK.
I also planted my tomato seeds out in a propagator on the windowsill.
Had a huge Bumblebee come waffling into the greenhouse when I was filling the propagator tray, and had a hard job persuading it to leave. Very early to see them up here. The only flowers out are snowdrops and a few daisies.

That's good that your hoops and netting came Hicky, so you can get on with some planting.
Hope you enjoyed your marinated Poussin.
Well I could eat avocado on it's own, but I like a vinegrette dressing with it.

Mollie, glad daughter is now on the mend.
Probably best for your OH to get the slabs a few at a time, as they are quite heavy for an ordinary car.

Yes I noticed the young actress in Good Karma Hospital.
Didn't watch Broadchurch, but watched 24hrs in A&E. Like you I hadn't seen the previous episodes, so didn't want to start now.

Evening Both.

13c here today, cloudy but the sun came out later, slight wind.

I finished the scaffold using the 120cm x 4.5cm x 20cm planks,, 3 to make an inverted U with 1 just above the top and screwed to the sides, x 2 for left and right hand, with 4 planks inserted flat on the top, a piece of wood was screwed onto the Gazebo at 110cm high to fasten the back section of the inverted U, so i have a platform to stand on, very strong as well.

I managed to replace the bottom 2 sections of the roofing, i have screwed the material down this time so it can't blow away again, i hope, i have some self drilling 40mm screws left from getting the new garage roof installed, these are fantastic as you don't have to drill a hole, they cut their own.

Mollie, My neighbour didn't have to prune the big trees, when we first did the garden i had a feller up the tree pruning it and the neighbour stopped me, but he's in hospital so thats maybe why she got someone in so her hubby couldn't see.

You might as well add some more slabs now, if you have the room then why not.

Did you get the B&Q bag of ready post concrete, you put water in the hole then tip it in and add some water on top.

That is a good sign, maybe daughter is over the worst now, hope so.

Emptybox, A good idea to get your equipment ready, you'll be needing it very soon now.

I saw a big bumblebee weeks ago, very odd, found a wasp and some flies in my summerhouse, probably hiding for the winter.

Just had 8 spicy chicken wings, i get them from Costco, they last me quite a while as it's a big bag, 2 bags, 1 spicy 1 BBQ, i have 4 of each at a time.

I think i will get a tin of tomato soup as i have loads, will add some chilly sauce.

Hicky

both xx

Emptybox

that is a releif your mower and strimmer appear in good working order. You will be needing them soon as your busy season approaches.

Hope your tomatoes do well this year,... sounds like the bumble bee was having a nap in your greenhouse and you disturbed it, as it is so early in the year for them.

Yes OH said the slabs are big ones so very heavy. The hard bit is putting them in and out of the car. Too wet to do the rest today, but they reckon we might have a dry day tomorrow for him to have a go at finishing it off.

Hicky

Sounds like you are making good progress on replacing the roof. The self drilling screws sound a great idea, hadn't heard of them before. Oh yes I remember the neighbour stopping you prune the trees, hadn't realised this was the same tree/neighbour.

Yes OH did get that sort of concrete for the washing line, but he got it from Wickes, as that was closer for us.

Gosh you found a wasp as well! As you say, must of been hiding there away from  the winter.

Glad you enjoyed your chicken from Costco. My family too enjoy their chicken wings.

Dull and drizzly here today. Just caught up with some jobs.

I was supposed to meet social worker and care agency manager at mum's flat this morning and they rang me just after I was due to meet them. I had not gone becuase I got my days mixed up and thought it was tomorrow!   I had even arranged for my private carer to be there tomorrow! Oh dear, I felt a right plonker. Luckily they were very nice and we just discussed on the phone that I had no problem at all with the new agency. I emailed them apologising after.

Daughter feels real tired, but has started eating bits of light food. She has an assignment due on Thursday, so has to try and focus on that now.

Am watching the 3rd episode of the Replacement tonight, have enjoyed this series.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening both.
Very windy here today, but dry with quite a lot of sun.

Went out and cut my first grass of the season today. Also went round a few other places having a nosy.
Also had a call from another customer wanting a cut and a tidy up.

Well done getting the scaffolding sorted Hicky. You'll soon have the roof shipshape again (or gazebo shape ).
I should think it's the mild weather bringing the bees and wasps out. But might be too early for them if not enough flowers are out

Pity the wet weather stopped your OH from getting on Mollie.
That was unfortunate that you got the days mixed up for the social work meeting. Glad that it was all sorted out over the phone and email.
Sounds like daughter is really on the mend now, if she's back to thinking about assignments? She's bound to be tired for a while though.

Really rotten news that there will probably be another Scottish Independence referendum.
I thought I was free from that nonsense in 2014. Now we'll have to go through it all again. I didn't think Nicola Sturgeon would call another one, because she can't be sure of the result. And if she lost another one, I don't see how the SNP could stay in power? She's taking a huge gamble.

Watched The Secret Life of the Zoo, then the last episode of 1066, then the Mutiny.

Evening Both.

A rather beautiful day here today, 13c and sun all day, rather hot it was, no wind.

Finished the Gazebo roof, took the scaffold down, undid all the tub winter covers and hung them out to dry, quite a job, have put them in the gazebo overnight, will have to start rolling them up, thats quite a job as well, each one is 75cm x 200cm.

Had a Burger for brekkie as we had some burger buns in, just been out for tea, had bread olives and oil/vinegar, then a pasta dish.

Mollie, Your washing line should be fine now, we had the same problem at the other place but decked the area later on and changed the base.

A pity you got your days mixed up, but at least you got it sorted.

glad your daughter is eating a little, thats better than nothing.

Emptybox, I don't understand why Nicola wants to call another referendum, doesn't she understand that the public don't want one, she seems to have her head in the sand, i thought she was brighter than that.

She has no chance of winning one, she's crazy.

The secret life of the Zoo, but now it's no secret, such a pity.

Saw the 1066 show, interesting.

5 days till Spring.

well done on getting your first spring work done and sussing out the rest.  And with another customer requesting your services, looks like your busy time has now arrived.

I agree,.... ridiculous Nicola is pushing for another referendum, what a power freak she is...didn't get the answer she wanted last time, so will try again!   Why does she want Scotland to have independance from the UK, but wants to align Scotland to Germany! (who I think are the ones who really hold the reigns in the EU). I find it quite offensive that she is suggesting and hoping Scotland hates the rest of the UK so much, that they'd prefer EU to govern them! If Scotland were to join EU (sounds like EU won't take them with open arms though and say they have to go to the back of the queue), not only will they be ruled by EU law, but will have to take on the Euro. Yes she is taking a huge gamble but I think she hopes to get all of those votes of those who voted to stay in EU, by saying she will leave them in the EU. I get the feeling the rest of the UK don't want to lose Scotland as part of the UK.

Hicky

well done finishing the gazebo roof, good job the weather was nice today for you to get it done. You deserved your tea out tonight.

Yes my washing line seems to be holding up well now. I certainly tested it today, it was such a lovely day, I had 5 loads out.

OH finished the patio.  And we managed to test it out today as it was so sunny. Makes a lot of difference now we can put chairs out, will choose my swing chair now. They have a lovely one at Costco but it is over ÂĢ500, so will have to check asda for a cheaper one.

Watching GP show then Marigold hotel.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi guys.
Dry day but cloudy all day.
Got one of my customers' hedges cut.

Well done on finishing the gazebo roof Hicky. Glad you got such a nice day?
Burger for brekkie? You don't half have some strange tastes.

Glad that you had a good drying day as well Mollie, and your OH finished the patio area.
Can't you get a swing chair with your Tesco vouchers?

Very tricky to know how an Independence vote would go. The polls say it would be closer than last time, but still only 50/50 at the moment.
The trouble is, if Nicola is banking on trying to stay in the EU, then a lot of SNP voters actually voted for Brexit, so she'd alienate them. And if the EU says that Scotland would have to apply to join, then she'd be taking Scotland out of the UK and out of the EU. So sort of a lose/lose situation.
Still, very worrying (for me).

Glad you enjoyed 1066 Hicky. Pity that's the last in the series.
Watched The Sheriffs Are Coming, then Incredible Medicine, then Benidorm on +1. Now watching an old episode of Top Gear.

Evening Both.

Not as nice today but good enough to be in the garden most of the day.

My insect net and polythene and clips came for the hoops, fitted them then installed the polythene, haven't planted yet, will let the raised bed warm up a bit first.

The hoops make a cloche 60cm wide and 60cm high which is very good.

I also started rolling the sheets of bubble wrap up and tying, i have the ties from when i unrolled them, but did about 20 so far.

There are so many flower buds going to open soon on the fruit trees it's amazing, the Asian Pear must have well over 100 clusters and each has 9 flower buds, the pear trees are laden as well, so are the plum and cherry trees, the Brown Turkey Fig tree seems to have a load of baby Figs forming, have only noticed today, hope i'm right.

Had another Burger Batch for Brekkie, then later i had the cheese topped water biscuits topped with smoked salmon, just had the tinned /steak & Kidney pie.

Mollie, Does Nicola S know the cost of being in the EU, Scotland couldn't afford the costs for a start, and the Pension costs for those running in past and present costs ÂĢ52,000,000,000 which is what they want the UK to pay as we leave, they say the last PM agreed that much.

Glad your Patio is finished, it will be lovely for the Summer, yes, Costco equipment can be very expensive, mind you it's usually good quality.

Watched the GP's then Marigold same as you, very good.

Emptybox, I watched some of Benidorm but got bored with all the new faces, it seems to have changed a lot.

I think Nicola S has lost the plot, all those shown on tV said she had no chance of winning.

thats good you got a hedge done.

Unfortunately we can't use tesco vouchers for the swing chair as daughter asked if she could use them with some of her savings for one of these....

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Nin...-Switch-1148779.html

She is enjoying using it ,but only has one game for it so far though, as they are so expensive.

Gosh yes...., Scotland could end up being out of EU and UK, and they certainly can't afford that now!

yes worrying times, ......

As Hicky says, Nicola's lost the plot (in her ever relenting hunt for power imo!)

Hicky

glad it was nice enough for you to spend in the garden all day today. Sounds like you got a lot done too. And how nice to see all the buds opening now spring is nearly here.

Nice treat for you again to have a brekkie burger.

Those EU numbers are off the scale!! EU certainly knows how to eat up the cash! Worst thing we ever did getting into that EU union.

Yes we find Costco things of A1 qualitiy. And to tempt me even more the swing chair is on offer till 2 April. Mum's sister has given me and OH ÂĢ100 for our birthdays, so it gets more tempting. It has 5 year guarantee, which is good as my last swing chair only lasted a couple of years. Here it is, what do you think of it?

It says rust resistant, so do you think we would only have to take the 2 cushions that come with it in, if it rained?

http://www.costco.co.uk/view/p...-1&utm_term=Agio

I made a roast dinner for the family, I get a "tasty" chicken and you just put it in the oven in the bag so it is easy to make and family really enjoy it. My poor daughter could only stomach some chicken breast and a slice of white bread though. But she has to take it easy till her stomach settles completely.

Watched Supervet, now watching Prime Supect 1973. I like the snippets of old music they play, but I do have trouble working out who is who and who is doing what on it.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie and Hicky.
Cloudy and drizzly here today.
Got another phone call from a customer wanting me to get started for the season, so looks like it'll be all go from next week.

Glad your stuff came Hicky.
Sounds like you are going to another good crop this year, judging by all the buds that are coming on?

Hi Mollie, Ah, I see daughter has bagged all the Tesco vouchers for her game machine? That's good that she's a least having some chicken now.
That looks a lovely swing garden seat though.

I think Scotland's economy would really struggle outside the UK, and the EU wouldn't allow us to join if we were in debt, so it could be a disaster all round.
Not sure if Nicola will take any notice of Teresa May saying No to a referendum?
TBH it might turn more people in favour of Independence.

Watched Supervet, then The Last Kingdom on BBC2, then The Great British benefits Handout on 5+.

Evening Both.

Not as nice today, my shopping arrived, yipppeeeeeeeeee, then we went to take my water sample to the docs, was very lucky, the doc was in and the receptionist took the sample up to her room, as i expected another infection, she sent the prescription  to the chemist, went to Sainsbury's to get the meds, while i was there i picked up all the missing spices from the spice shelves, i now have 20 jars so should be able to make most dry rubs or whatever i need.

Just had scrambled egg for brekkie, have just made a meal with fresh egg noodles, thin sliced Ribeye steak some garlic, ginger, chilli sauce and a stir fry sauce, yummy.

I finished rolling up the tub covers, stacked them in the mancave (summerhouse)

Weather was a bit miserable today so didn't do any seed sowing, made the markers ready for when i plant them.

Mollie, That swing at Costco looks lovely, a 5 year guarantee is so good, ÂĢ100 a year to use it, ÂĢ2 a week, sounds good, i don't think you need to take anything indoors if it rains, it's all waterproof, and Costco equipment is usually the best, i'm pretty sure it would outlast any others on the market,

Such a shame your daughter can't appreciate your wonderful food, it shouldn't be long now, have you tried asking her if there's anything she fancies, as eating something you fancy seems worth a try.

Emptybox, Yes, you are going to be very busy soon, old customers and some new ones, yesterday it seemed everyone was cutting grass and that all i could hear all afternoon.

I wonder how on earth Nicola S thinks she could pay the EU bills, has she no idea how much that club costs to join, she is delusional, some big countries are struggling to pay and it cost us ÂĢ350m a week before rebate, so we really only pay ÂĢ250m a week, thats so cheap isn't it, not, what a joke.

I wonder What Nicola S would have to pay, mind you as it would take 27 countries to accept Scotland into the EU, why would they want them anyway, for what?

3 days till Spring, yipppeeeeeeeeee.

And even better Formula 1 from Australia this weekend, seems so long since last season.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Drizzly again here, so I didn't go out.

That's bad that they can't get a grip of your urinary infection. So you are on yet another course of antibiotics?
Perhaps you'll need to be on a permanent low dose course?
At least you haven't got any of the other symptoms of an infection?

Sounds like you've got all the spices you'll ever need now?
A more traditional brekkie today (scrambled eggs). Must seem strange after having burgers for breakfast?
Pity you didn't get good weather today to allow you to do more in the garden.

I don't think the SNP have any idea or interest in finances TBH. They are only obsessed with getting Independence. They've been neglecting the Scottish economy for years. I've no idea why anyone would vote for them.
I'm just hoping this referendum idiocy backfires on them, and they are put out of power at the next Scottish election.

That's great that it's nearly the equinox.
I here today is the equilux, where there is equal amounts of day and night; so 12 hours daylight 12 hours darkness.
Can only get better from now on. Although i hear we could be in for colder air at the start of next week.

Not sure if I'll watch the F1 stuff over the weekend? There's also a Scotland/Italy rugby match that I'm not sure I'll watch either.
Gogglebox tonight, and Lethal Weapon on ITV.

Emptybox

as you now have a busy week lined up, let's hope the weather allows you to get on with it.

Hicky

sorry the infection is back again, at least they are checking this time, so hopefully longer on the meds will help shift it.

yes with all those spices, you should be able to make a few tasty dishes.

Shame the weather prevented you seed sowing, but at least you still managed to do a few things.

ÂĢ2 a week is a good way to think of the swing chair with the 5 year guarantee.

Yes hooray nearly spring and the days are getting longer and longer now.

I agree, can't imagine why Nicola thinks EU will be so keen to have them on board, and how they will afford it. As I have said, all about power for herself imo. Yes the best thing that can happen Emptybox is that they are put of power. When is the next Scottish election due?

Didn't realise it was the equilux today, thought it was the 21st?

Not a bad day here today, but late afternoon, started raining, still raining now.

Mum was grizzly at day centre all day today, and of course we dont know why, but she did seem to calm down tonight after her tea and carer gave her paracetomol. It's so hard beause she can't tell us even if she just has a headache, but I am lucky the carers are so good with her.

Won't be around for a couple of days.
Got a cheap last minute overnight deal at hotel (ÂĢ16), so off to Cotswolds with OH.
Have sorted mum's care out and will rest my leg for awhile. It is still not right,I have water on my knee.
Daughter had an extra extension for her assignment till Saturday, as she has been unwell, so she will quietly work on that all day tomorrow whilst we are away.
The boys will be busy online gaming with thier mates. (and looking after the pets!)...

Watching Gogglebox. So funny again.

I see they are showing part of that brilliant drama The Replacement. I enjoyed watching that.

Goodnght both. xxx be back soon.

M

Hi Mollie.
Enjoy your last minute break with OH.
Be sure and rest that leg.

Seemingly there are a few days between the equilux 17th March and the equinox 21st. Not sure why, but this link explains it.
https://darkskydiary.wordpress...-and-twilight-times/
TBH I'd never heard of the equilux until today, so I'm no expert.

Pity your Mum can't say what's wrong any more. But at least she's well cared for.

Unfortunately the next Scottish election isn't until 2021, so plenty of time for fun between now and then.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not so nice today, winds trying to blow my cloches away, wasn't going to do any planting in that.

Made a template for planting the peas, it's 6" wide and a foot long, it allows for 4 rows of 6 peas, the rows are sloping and the peas are kept at 2" apart, i'm going to have 3 plantings a couple of weeks apart.

Had fried bacon, blackpudding, mushroom, beans and egg for brekkie, midday had a pack of prawns cooked in shells, for tea, beef curry with fried rice.

Emptybox, Formula 1 is next week, darn it.

I don't understand why the infection comes back, my water colour seems fine when i am taking the tablets so how does it come back?

I'll have some fun with all these spices, have drawn up what is required to make up each set of spices for a particular job, the lists are stuck on the back of the spice cupboard with magic tape.

2 days till Spring, fantastic.

Mollie, It will do you good to get away for a few days, hope the leg does improve some, you'll have to get the water on your kneee sorted now.

You Mum will be ok with the carers, it's so hard when she can't tell you what the problem is.

Hope your daughter can get on ok while you are away, that extension of time was very much needed.

The boys will have a fine time, you bet.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Not bad day here. Sunny and not too cold.
Think it's going to be much colder next week though.

Yes you're right. The equinox falls on the 20th this year (tomorrow).
And then the clocks go forward next weekend.

Pity it was too windy for you to do any planting yesterday, but at least you've got your peas planned.
Also very organised with your spices I see?
My tomato seeds are just starting to sprout above the soil.
Oh, and I see out the window that my daffodils are starting to come into flower now.

Just come back from the supermarket and have put the food away.
Not sure what to watch on TV tonight? Might go with the new series of Vera?

Evening Emptybox.

Not too bad a day 12c but cloudy, sunny and windy.

Went out for brekkie at a garden centre, very nice but most of it was cold, you would think they could keep food hot some how.

I asked them were the tie wraps are and they said they don't sell them any more, i have ordered them earlier from Amazon and they have been dispatched all ready.

Just made another stirfry with sliced Ribeye steak, onions, mushrooms, sachet of satay sauce and a load of egg noodles.

Didn't do any planting today, the wind was annoying and blowing my plastic cloche covers.

strange how i have Dafs that have been out for weeks, it just shows the difference a bit of distance makes.

Was watching a mention on tv yesterday about the lake district and they said it is the wettest part of the UK, with a rainfall of 2m a year.

Yes, the weather is cooler next week, not what i need really.

clocks going forward all ready, doesn't seem long since they went back, wish they would leave them alone, it was only done for the farmers wasn't it?

My sunflower seeds haven't sprouted yet, it's too cold i think, at least your tomato seeds have sprouted.

Hope Mollies leg isn't giving problems while she is away.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Pity your garden centre  visit didn't go to plan. Cold brekkie and they didn't have what you wanted.
Nice stirfry.

Yes, we are only a few hundred miles apart, but that can mean a few weeks difference in the growing season starting.

I wish they'd leave the time alone as well. Don't know whether it's got anything to do with the farmers though? They work according to the light rather than the time. You sometimes see combines working at 11pm up here at harvest time.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Not too nice today, cloud, rain and sun, windy as well.

didn't bother with planting again, 3 of my 6 sunflowers in the summerhouse have started.

Had burgers again for brekkie, using up the burger baps.

Made a jar of Rib Rub with my spices, ran them through the spice grinder, thought i would try it out, found a pork fillet so sliced it and put the rub over in and put in fridge for a couple of hours, then sliced and made it ready to stir fry,

Made a risotto then put the pork over it, wow, pretty potent pork now, just eating it, very nice, love spicy food.

Weather looks ok tomorrow so might be able to get some planting done.

They have posted my Tie Wraps, 200 x 4" & 100 12" for ÂĢ4.35

It's a nuisance this 1 hour, but Buckingham Palace have 500 clocks, i really think it should be looked at to see if it's still relevant.

Hope Mollie has enjoyed the break away, and her leg is improving.

Oh, and the Risotto had some dry white wine added so am finishing the bottle, it's only a small one, Hic.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Glad you enjoyed your spicy pork risotto with wine,

Very heavy rain overnight, but a sunny day but very windy.
The rain made the grass too wet to cut, and the wind meant I decided not to cut hedges either. So I stayed in.

Yes I hope Mollie has enjoyed her break, and managed to stay off her leg as much as possible.

Hopefully tomorrow will be dry, as you say, because it looks like Wed and Thur might be wet up here. Might even get to below zero overnight as well.
