Evening Both.

Not bad today, 8c sunny and hardly any wind.

Didn't do much really, a bit more shredding, fitted a new door bell/chime thingy as one of the receivers on the other set packed up and with the bungalow being so long room wise i need one in the hall and one in the kitchen, but thats sorted now.

Made another spatchcock Poussin for tea marinated with oil mustard and piri piri sauce, very nice anyway.

Emptybox, Timber Kings is on Home stn 25 Freeview, some good programs on this stn as well.

I think i will have problems with the decorator being in, he's not here today as he had a preplanned job which he should have done Monday but he got messed about.

They must have had practice on the Jump, they couldn't do that cold, but maybe from a lower start point.

I suppose Josie had to leave, she would be disappointed about that.

Mollie, I'm just checking whats on tv every hour, we don't get papers or anything with the tv shows on.

I have 196 recording to watch, don't know when.

Heard yesterday that another lady opposite has got cancer, lost 2 ladies and a man neighbour already since we moved here now the lady who lost her hubby a few months ago has it as well.

I love a lot of the programs on Dave, one of which is American Pickers, i also watch some Blaze, thats good.

Hicky

Evening both.
Dry day here. Not too cold.
Went to the dentist to get my filling replaced. Didn't take long, 20 minutes maybe.
I decided to do it without an injection, as I don't like a numb mouth. There were a few little twinges, but nothing much.

Hadn't heard of that TV channel Hicky. I might check it out. Hadn't heard of Blaze either. I have heard of Dave though.
I just usually stick to the main channels, unless I know something is on.

Well done fixing your door chimes.
I've got a wireless one, but the push button on the door keeps losing contact with the plug-in chiming part. It's not the battery in the push button as I've changed that.
I have to unplug the chime and then plug it in again, and then the push button works again.
It's annoying because if I'm expecting a parcel I've got to test the bell to see if it works.

Sorry to hear another of your neighbours has cancer. Is it an elderly neighbourhood?

Just going to have my supper. Stew, mashed potatoes and steamed spring greens.
Think I'll watch that thing on BBC1 with Sheridan Smith in it. 'The Moorside'.

emptybox

 Hicky

Pity many of your neighbours have had health problems. Well done sorting your door chime out. Ours never worked since we moved in, OH got another one, and that is broke now, (too much Welsh rain??), so I have put a note over both of the doorbells for them to knock loudly on the door. So problem solved.

Bit annoying how you have problems with the decorator coming, let's hope he doesn't leave you holding on for too long. Gosh you have a lot of recordings to watch!

Emptybox

that is good the dentist is done and out of the way, well done for not having injection, yes it is horrible to have the numb mouth after, so at least you avoided that. Sounds like your wireless has the same problem ours had, so I recommend the sticky note over the bell asking the postie to knock loudly on the door! We don't have a knocker so he uses his first.

Hope you enjoyed your stew. Just the weather for a warming stew right now.

Nice and dry here this morning, so I took dog out. Washing half dried too on the line before it dried.

Am watching "Back in Time" on bbc2, don't forget to watch it if you can. Very interesting to see food through the times and how long some foods have been going for, we are in the 1920's now.

Think I too will watch "The Moorside", I like Sheriden Smith. And watch A and E on plus 1 or record it.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi Mollie.
I suppose a "Knock loudly" note would be cheaper than a new bell?

The Moorside was good, although obviously we know what happens, so not much drama as such.
Missed the Back in Time thing. I watched the Yorkshire Vet on 5.

That's good that you got a dog walk, and your washing partially dried outside.
That was the last of that batch of stew, so I'll have to make another batch in a week or so.

Evening Both.

Not a bad day, Decorator was here at 8.45 and with him working in the kitchen we went out for a lovely Brekkie, as you do, and the place that did the wonderful brekkie also does dinners for takeaway, so got a chilli/rice/cheese for tea as well.

Emptybox, Glad they sorted the tooth out, one good job done.

These chimes say up to 1,000 ft wow, but one of the last set worked fine, the one in the hall packed up so changed them around, but i need 2, they are only about ÂĢ12 for the lot.

I do find a lot of good programs on the new stations, very interesting.

The neighbours are pretty old, well, they might not be for much longer. ha ha

Mollie, age does have such an impact on health, i suppose it's with the fantastic medicine and care, whereas years ago they just died as they had nothing to keep anyone alive.

Door bell system similar to this set https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckN...s+with+two+receivers

I quite like this leaving a not by the front door with the list of food i want for the week, what a system, easier than ordering online, just leave a postit note.

Hospital in the morning for CT scan.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Dull day, but no frost.
Woken up at 8.30am with the neighbour doing something round the back of his house with a digger. Haven't been out to see what yet.
It's where he keeps his caravan, so maybe putting in some hard standing or something?

Good luck with the CT scan tomorrow Hicky.
Presume that'll mean more meals out?
That's a good system for asking for your provisions.
I leave a note in the kitchen for the food I want. Unfortunately I've got to go out and get it in as well.
Those chimes look good value.

Yes, that's the trouble with living longer. More health problems. But as long as people are still happy with their life. And health is a big part of that.

Watched Location on 4, then turned over to 5 for the Property Ladder prog.
Sorry to hear that TPT has popped her clogs.
Here's a story from 2009, when her and Aisleyne turned up to an event in the same outfit.

Evening Emptybox.

Not a bad day here, 0c early on rising to 3c but quite bright with some sun, dry with slight wind.

Decorator was here early again, after he finished the kitchen he was going to lock the place up and put the keys through the letter box, i was up at 7am to get a round of toast as i couldn't eat after 4hrs before CT scan, O/H dropped me off at the hospital, had to drink a jug of water, they had Iodine or something in my blood as usual, all went as expected then i rang O/H and she picked me up.

And then she suggested we got for fish and chips to Parkgate, but we ate in, a first, but of souse with eating in we can get a cup of tea.

I would have gone to see what the neighbour was doing, hate to miss something.

It wouldn't let me see the link of Tara, probably with me having built in anti adverts as i can't stand them.

Wish i could adblock the TV, can't stand the stupid things, 99% of what they talk about has nothing to do with the goods on show at all, its just mind games, by showing crazy pictures they think it makes up remember the goods, but it actually puts me off even more as it's so repetitive.

Got to leave a shopping list out for the morning, mind you apart from a few bits of luxury food with a short life i have more than enough in the freezer.

Hope Mollie isn't too stressed, glad the ribs are getting less of a problem.

Hicky

both

thought I'd posted yesterday, must of forgot to press the "post reply" again!

Emptybox

Did you find out what the neighbour was up to with the digging?

yes such a shame about TPT, I really liked her. Interesting post to see her and Ais in the same dress. I don't think the piccies of either of them in that dress are particularly flattering compared to others I have seen of them.

Hicky

glad you got that CT scan out of the way now. Do you have to go to the GP for the results? I think your fish/chip meal out was well deserved after that. Did the decorator finish the kitchen ok.

Yes the fancy ads are so annoying. I could see Emptybox's link and have ad blocker, so that is odd why yours was blocked?

That is handy you can list your food on a post it note .

Oh boy was the wind cold here today! I don't normally feel the cold when out, but did today! Went shopping to Tesco and Lidl, so stocked up for a few days now. Private carer had mum, mum gets on real well with my private carer and she loves looking after mum. So I am lucky. She is very reliable too. Then the agency carers come to put mum to bed, we have to have 2 because they need to use the hoist. They all seem lovely though.

Am watching the Secret life of 5 year olds tonight. I love that programme. Then Bargain Brits in the Sun on plus 1.

I needed a new watch and wanted to see if I walk far enough, so daughter got one of these for me...(I had the red one)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pedom...+bluetooth+pedometer

it shows time, date, steps, and some other stuff. Very good it is, I can now see if I am being lazy!   You are supposed to build up to around 10,000 steps (depending on age), I nearly seem to do this if I go shopping othewise it is generally 7 -8000. Don't think I could ever manage (or be bothered) to fit in the 10000 steps though!

http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/los...0stepschallenge.aspx

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening folks.
No frost again, but some light snow showers through the day. Nothing lying though.
Didn't do much. Was fiddling about with my music collection on the computer, and bought a couple of album downloads.
(Kate Bush-Before the dawn, Black Star Riders-Heavy Fire)

Had a look at what the neighbour had done with the digger, when I took my bin out to the road.
He seems to have churned up a lot of ground without achieving very much.
He works at the farm, and had borrowed the farm digger. Perhaps he's got to wait till another day to get whatever he was doing finished?

Glad the CT scan is out of the way Hicky. Not like you not to eat out afterwards.
Pity you couldn't see the Tara link for whatever reason, but you're not missing much. Theyre both wearing stripey red vest tops and red skirts.
I've got Adblock plus as a Chrome add-on, and I can see the link, so not sure why you can't?

Hope you wrapped up warm in the cold wind Mollie, when you went shopping?
That's handy that your Mum gets on so well with the private carer.

Don't get too obsessed with how many steps you are doing. You'll be marching about the house trying to get your score up.
Wonder how many steps I take when I do a day of grass cutting?

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not a bad day, max 4c but sunny and hardly any wind.

Didn't do much, a bit of shredding in the man shed, walked the garden, will have to get the gardener to give me a hand with repotting the fig tree but i'll wait till it's a bit warmer i think.

Just tried to make Chapati's, followed the recipe, easy peasy but didn't flatten them out enough so they were too think.

Recipe: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chapatis_77146

It's so easy, had some of the 200g i had put aside for the rolling, i fried them dry one side, turned over and buttered it in the frying pan then turned over and buttered other side, stacked onto a warm plate and covered with clingfilm, before i had some i heated a bit in microwave, i tell you, for just wholemeal flour and water with a touch of salt they are very nice, of course i had them with a madras curry from the freezer, i simmered until it had very little liquid, you tear it into 4 and part fold and use the piece as a scoop to scoop some of the curry up, very nice anyway.

Mollie, Oh dear, thats not nice, so annoying if it fails to post.

I'll wait and see if the GP gets in touch, still waiting for the cystoscopy date, or maybe they want to see the CT scan results first, i'll just wait.

I enjoyed the secret world of 5 year olds, quite funny the way they react.

Thats a lot of watch for the price, very handy, and crazy prices these days.

I don't like challenges, it usually ends up in your getting roped into something you didn't intent to do.

Emptybox, If the neighbour cleared an area it could be for decking or raised beds or to redo a lawn or a veg patch, have i missed anything Ha Ha.

It was strange, usually a page will mention the ad blocker, it said nothing but i had the page header, thats all.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

sounds like it could be interesting to see what the digger does next then! Yes if it is borrowed, I guess he can only do it in bits.

Good for you taking a day off to enjoy your music collection.

Yes I was thinking I bet you certainly do a lot of steps when doing your gardens. I have come to the conclusion I only do 10000 plus when I go round Primark, my favourite clothes shop, because I have done that many today and today is the 1st day i have gone over 10000.   No I certainly won't become obsessed with it, the novelty will soon wear off, and knowing me if I did count steps and did a lot, I'd only over eat, and put weight on even worse than normal!

Hicky

just realised after what Emptybox said, you didn't have fish and chips yesterday, when you said you ate "in" I thought you meant in the fish and chip cafe and had some tea there too.Silly me.. I am sure you will make up for it sooner or later though with an eat out.

What a shame your chapatis were too thick, but as practice makes perfect, I reckon you will soon rectify that.

Oh yes the 5 year olds were just so cute last night, so funny too. Aaaww at frog boy and chocolate fountain girl at the end.

Yes I don't like challenges either, life is too short to get roped into stuff you don't want, and I am too busy any way.

Got some nice clothes for my mum in Primark today. And all reduced, eg blouse for ÂĢ3 and pink padded jacket for ÂĢ10.

Then we all went to Nandos for tea. I love nandos, I have a beanie burger on pitta bread and coleslaw, and mash. Very nice too.

I have found a nice tv show... I can pretend it is CBB, but  isntead of living in a house, they are sharing a barge.

Celebritey carry on Barging on C5 at 8.

Anyone else watch it?

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.
More snow today, and heavy at times, so there is a bit lying tonight.
Went into town to get some stuff from the Health Food shop.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of those chapatis Hicky. Don't think I've ever tried them.
I've a feeling the neighbour might be wanting to park a car in the bit where he's excavating, as both his kids have cars now, and there's only room for two round the front. Might be wrong though, he might just have been playing with the digger?

Hi Mollie, glad you got your steps in, trailing round Primark, and grabbed some bargains into the ...er...bargain. Nice Nandos meal as well.

Yes, I watched the 'Lovely Debbie McGee' on that barging prog as well. :ccol: Then Jane McDonald afterwards.

emptybox

Evening Both,

Cool today, 4c here, cloud and some wind, staying in, can't be bothered going out, watching TV for a change Ha Ha, O/H making a roast dinner, chicken.

Can't wait to try those Chapati's again, defo need them thinner, and need to kneed them for a lot longer, it says it makes them softer, which would be good.

Mollie, Yes, when we had the fish and chips in Pargate, with it being in the week it meant we could park easier and sit in the shop, also we could get a cup of tea to go with the fish/chips, O/H even got pickled onions.

I must admit, never had a chocolate fountain to dip marshmallow in, it must be heaven.

Those are good prices from Primark, you can't leave clothes behind at that price.

The Beanie Burger sounds ok as well.

Didn't see that C5 program, will have to look it up.

Emptybox, Snow eh, no sign here, doubt if we will be getting any either.

Don't think your neighbour will have been playing with the digger, a parking space sounds more like it, he only really needs to throw a few tonne of hardcore over it and you could park on it.

I watched Jane on the Cruise ship, she is quite good, she used to be a singer on them didn't she, but as she said she couldn't afford to go far from the ship then as the taxi's was too expensive.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Raining here all day, so the snow is all away. Very cold as well. Didn't move from the house.

Hope you enjoyed your OH's roast dinner?
Spag bol and beer for me tonight.
Yes, I like Jane McDonald. And she looks almost the same now as she did on those Cruise programmes nearly 20 years ago.

Just found out that my ISP EE is getting rid of all it's email addresses at the end of May. That includes all Freeserve and Orange ones.
I've had an old Freeserve one since 2002. Haven't used it much these last few years, but it's still my address for Ebay, Paypal, Amazon etc. So will have to change all those to another email address.
Supposedly it's so they can concentrate on Broadband and mobile services, but it's just given me a load of work.

Enjoyed The Voice, but they should have chosen that girl that sang Opera. Think she was Scottish.
Suppose they didn't know what to do with her?

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Another cool day here, 4c max, cloud ans slight wind.

stayed in as had nothing to go out for really.

Did a type of Omelette for brekkie, fried chopped up bacon then fried Chorizo then tipped in 2 eggs that had been scrambled then after cooking a bit i out the pan under the grill to finish off, yummy.

Yes, Jane doesn't d=seem to have aged much, probably because she hasn't had much in the way of operations, they seem to make you look worse, but they always think they look better.

Oh dear, thats bad news, surely they can't just suddenly stop the email addresses, what a crazy thing to do, obviously it must be costing them a lot of money one way or another.

Surely if they give broadband they give email addresses don't they.

Yes, the vioce was ok, liked the Opera singer but it doesn't fit in a singing program, they come on just to get themselves aired.

The Jump is on tonight anyway so that should be good.

Hope Mollie isn't too stressed.

Hicky

both xxx

Emptybox

what a damn nuisance about your emails. Such an inconveniecne to sort all that out! That is handy for your neighbour, as he has room for aditional parking now he needs it. Did you buy any special food from the Health food shop, or do you just get supplements? I take vitamin D in winter as they reckon we don't get enough here because of the lack of sun.

Hicky

good idea to stay in today as it was so cold.

Glad you enjoyed your omlette this morning.

Yes I agree Jayne on her cruise show didn't look like she'd aged at all. I think she is a great presenter. I also agree Hicky, that cosmetic work just seems to make the celebs look older! Don't know why they are obsessed with wasting so much money and putting themselve through such painfull procedures, for something that ends up looking so awful on them!

The Voice...Yes such a shame they didn't take the opera singer, they never take anyone out of the ordinary which is silly as it would make the show more interesting. She was so young to have such a powerful voice, such a pretty girl too.

Well,  I had a real bad day yesterday! In the afternoon I was rushing around as usual, dashing ahead of the family back from walking the dog, so I wouldn't be late to take over from the carers, in getting to mums. And I slipped on a pile of sand on the sea front, a real bad fall onto the same knee I have fallen on now 3 times since September! The pain was awful, but I had to keep walking on it  to get to mum's, then I had to look after her for 2 hours, despite the pain. I had thick leggings on, but my leg was badly grazed and bleeding.

After I saw to mum, I was due to meet my friend and my family at the carvary for tea, as we had 25% off. But I only ate a few mouthfull and had to dash off outside because I  went really hot, and thought i was going to be sick with the pain, my leg was swelling awful by then. So I ending up leaving my meal to sit outside whilst the others finished. i needed the cold air.

Went home and the swelling carried on, and the pain got worse. Made me feel sick so ended up in A and E. They were real good, saw me straight away, got me in a wheelchair, gave me pain relief, and gave me an x ray. They said although nothing was broken because of my blood complaint I had excessive swelling, which is as painful as if it had been broken they said. I could go home if I sat for some days with my leg raised with ice on it, and if I took pain relief. But I had to go back straight away,  if it got worse as it could cut off the circulation to the base of my leg if it carried on.   I hardly slept a wink last night with the pain and had a bad head all day. And when I did get up, it was worse. So I have just sat  around with the ice today, and it is calming down now I think.

Oh dear, now I am giong to find it real hard to rest for days, but I have to. Good job daughter takes over in kitchen, and private carers can have mum. Gosh I wish I wasn't so clumsy.I think this falling on this one side is due to the other side being weakend from the rib/back pain.

Time for The Jump, thanks for the reminder Hicky.

Looks like I am going to be watching a lot of tv for a few days now.

So much for my watch counting my steps. I think the step counter is redundant for awhile now!

M

Hi both.
Very wet here overnight, so there was flooding on the road to the village when I went for the paper. Had to go very carefully.

Been drizzling and light snow most of today.
Went to the supermarket as usual.

Oh dear Mollie, that's not good. You seem determined to batter that knee at every opportunity.
Probably didn't do it any good that you had to carry on and look after your Mum before you could have anyone look at it? Hope you are taking advice and resting it completely, as it sounds like it could be serious if you don't.
Hope you get a better night tonight.
Fancy tripping on a pile of sand on the beach?

I bought a Selenium supplement at the health food shop, and also some Dandelion Coffee, which is quite nice.
Yes, I take a cod liver oil pill every morning, which has vitamin D in it.

Seemingly EE haven't given out any new Email addresses since 2012. So they've decided now is the time to pull the plug on the old ones.
EE are now owned by BT. Not sure if BT give out Email addresses now? But I think most ISPs still do.
Anyway, I've now changed my email in about 15 - 20 different sites. I've left Paypal and Ebay for just now as I've got a payment going out on the 15th, and I don't want to disrupt that, but I'll have to change those as well afterwards.

That's the way I do an omelette Hicky. I put the stuff in the frying pan (usually mushrooms and bacon), and then tip the whisked eggs in afterwards.
My Dad always said that it wasn't a proper omelette, doing it that way, but I think it's easier that way.

The Jump was OK. Don't who the tall fellow that got evicted was? No loss anyway.
Watched The Good Karma Hospital afterwards.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not a bad day here, 8c and sun all day, 18mph winds though.

An interesting day, O/H's sister and mother came, brought loads of food, pies, salad, sandwiches and cakes so didn't have to make any food.

Got a date for the next hospital appointment, March 6th.

Mollie, Oh dear, so sorry to hear about your fall, thats a lousy thing to have happen to you, glad nothing is broken as a whole leg in plaster wouldn't help you manage at all., hope the swelling and pain is under control.

I suppose they didn't take the Opera singer because they don't think they can help them as they know nothing about Opera so pointless being on their team.

I see Wiggins has left the Jump after he has broke a bone in a leg whilst training.

Emptybox, I see you had a sprinkling of snow, no sign here though.

My email is @bt********.com it has been for many moons.

I just find pouring the egg over the food in the frying pan is easier, if there is fat in the pan i wipe it up first though.

Yes, that tall bloke in the Jump could have beat the distance easy but they are all coming down with their arms outstretched which slows them down, they should bend their legs on the way down and spring up at the end as they take off, they just drop off, pretty hopeless in my book.

Hicky

both xx

Emptybox

Good job you took it carefully with all that flooding. Hope the rains have stopped now, so it clears.

I have heard of selenium, but not dandelion coffee, but it sounds healthy though.

Must of taken you awhile to change the email on 15 -20 things. At least it is nearly all done now though.

Hicky

That is good you have the hospital appointment through now. Let's hope the results are ok when you go.

That is the best sort of visitors to have...ones who bring plenty of food goodies.

I have got bored watching the Jump now Josie has left so premature. So I turned over to watch Call the Midwife, then watched the Good Karma hospital. I am going to watch the Halycon hotel tonight, I like that series.

Leg has not got worse, so I did do some washing, then daughter reminded me the hospital repeated to me 3 times that I must rest the leg else I'd have to go back. So I sat and rested after I got the washing in, and let her do the tea. We had sausage, mash, carrots and peas, fried onion (I love fried onion!). I love daughter's mash, she mixes butter and double cream in with it. My leg is not so painfull when I sit but still very painful if I walk/stand up, and it is still swollen. Hopefully it will start to improve quickly now though.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.
Not too bad weather here today. Even a bit of sun. But still cold out, and everything still soggy from the weekend's rain.

Glad your knee is no worse Mollie, but you'll really have to heed advice and rest the leg.
Your daughter's mash sounds nice.

At least you've got a hospital appointment now Hicky. Is that for a scan?
Nice that your visitors brought their own provisions with them. Saved you making anything.
Hadn't heard that Wiggins had left the Jump.
I think they must be told not to jump too enthusiastically off the end, to keep down accidents?

Is that BT address your only one Hicky? Might be worth your while getting a Gmail one as a backup, just in case BT closes theirs in the future as well as EE (they're basically the same company now).

Watched Winter Road Rescue on 5, now watching Chris Tarrant's prog on the railways.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not bad here today, 7c with sunny spells, 15 mph winds.

Have got the gardener coming tomorrow so we can get the fig tree re-potted into a bigger tub, it's either a 100 litre or a 125 litre one, i've prebuilt the water tank into it to make it easy, getting the tree out of the old tub could be a problem, the idea is to put a big waterproof sheet down, tip the pot on it's side and try to pull it out of the tub, then trim the roots all round with a spade or big knife then re-pot with all new compost and manure, will put the old compost in the raised beds.

got the decorator coming in the morning as well but he shouldn't interfear with what i'm doing.

Mollie, It's good having the next appointment but a bit concerned i haven't heard anything about my water works infection.

Glad the leg isn't any worse, you really must give it more rest though.

Emptybox, No, the hospital appointment is for the Cystoscopy.

A few speculations about who will replace Wiggins on the Jump. http://www.express.co.uk/showb...-Sir-Bradley-Wiggins

I used to have various email addresses years ago, have never though of having a spare one, most places kick you out if you don't log in at least once in 90 days, who runs the Gmail one, can anyone use it?

Hicky

both xxx

Emptybox

glad you got a bit of sun as it was needed to dry up those floods.

I am watching about Andrew Marr recovering from the stroke he had. He only survived thanks to our wonderful NHS care. In his case overwork appears to have triggered this,,,not worth it is it?

And as for the Jump... they must be mad going on that show, as it is so dangerous!

Hicky

hope you have nice weather again tomorrow as the gardner is due. And the decorator too,.... means you will have a busy day making teas/coffees at least!

As you havent heard about the waterworks result, hopefully no news is good news. Might it be one of those tests again that are sent to the GP, and they don't tell you unless you phone, that it is ok? Remember they did that last time? They also did this with my OH's hospital tests when he had kidney problems.

Me and OH have always had Hotmail accounts and we have been pleased with them because even when they moved to outlook, we didn't have to change our email addresses.

Perhaps you could get an Outlook one has an extra?  I think OH has got one of those Gmail ones.

Leg still very swollen and painfull so have no choice but to rest it. The bruising is coming out now. It has got no worse swelling wise though, so at least I don't need to go back to hospital.

I watched the 1930s food programme on bbc2, then Andrew Marr.

Have a good evening both xx

M

Hi guys.
Quite nice sunny day here. Cold though.

Got a phone call from my customer, wanting me to come and put some fertiliser round some young trees. Also wants me to do a bit of hedge cutting and tidying up. So I'll do that in the next few days. Maybe tomorrow if it's nice?

Good that you've got your gardener coming Hicky. Hope you manage to get that fig tree re-potted.
Hope the decorator doesn't keep you from your food again.
Oh, it's another cystoscopy. Not pleasant.

Gmail is Google mail, so you may already have it if you have an android phone or tablet, unless you signed in with your BT address? But if not then it's easy to get a free Gmail address https://accounts.google.com/SignUp

As Mollie says 'hotmail' or an Outlook email is another possibility. That's Microsoft's one, and again anyone can get one https://www.lifewire.com/creat...utlook-email-1170658

Glad your leg is coming on Mollie, although I bet the bruising looks terrible. Glad you're being good and resting it.

Found out yesterday that I might lose quite a lot of the BBC channels on Freeview after 1st March.
They are moving the TV channels to a different frequency range, to make way for more mobile phone coverage, over the next few years, and they are using my local transmitter as a guinea pig. So they are moving just the BBC A multiplex initially, and then the rest in 2019.
Other parts of the country will move at different times, up until 2020.

The important part is that you will need a wideband aerial to get the new frequencies, and my aerials are the old c/d type, so not likely to work.
It's all the BBC standard definition channels and all the BBC radio channels that are moving initially. I'll still be able to get all the other channels including the BBC HD ones until 2019.

It's says on the website that only 1% of homes won't be able to receive the new frequencies, so I might be in luck, but it seems to me that lots of people still have the old style aerials, so they are seriously under estimating the problems they are going to cause. My aerials look like this

There is a helpline you can call, if you can't receive the BBC channels after the retune, but I can't see them paying to have a new wideband aerial fitted, so I shall probably have to do that myself.

However, all I can do is wait and see if there are going to be problems after 1st March.

Watched inside Windsor Castle, then the Moorside. Then the Great British Skinny Dip.
Can't see Scarlett doing The Jump? Think she's got too much else going on.

Evening Both.

Not a bad here, 8c and cloudy but only slight wind.

Decorator came, also did gardener, it took 2 hours to re-pot the tree, hardest part was getting it out of the tub, it was a 80 litre tub but the tree had wedged itself in, of course it would.

The new tub is 125 litres and we changed all the compost, i hope the tree will be happy, we trimmed 10cm from the side of the roots all round.

Just made a rather strange type of Rissoto with the wrong rice, had 3 Lobster tails and a pack of Scallops, quite a nice meal.

Mollie, I will wait and see if the doc gets in touch, if not i might contact him about this infection, why is nothing being done, strange.

The decorator makes his own drinks so thats handy, i make the gardener a drink and we sit in the summerhouse to drink it.

I used to have a Hotmail account but i closed it when they said a few things i wasn't happy with.

Glad the swelling has eased, as you say, the bruising will come out, also it will itch as it gets better probably.

Emptybox, Don't you put mulch and fertiliser on in March?, mind you i suppose it's ok mas long as we don't have lots of rain.

Yes, i have Google so that should be ok.

That would be a blow if you lost stations when the upgrade/downgrade goes ahead, my aerial should be ok, can't remember what it looks like.

I don't know about Scarlett, she is fearless but don't know if she is free.

In the morning i pick a channel and then find i watched it the day before, why put the program on 2 days running, so annoying.

Missing my dose of BB all ready.

Hicky

Emptybox

that is really annoying what they are planning to do, meaning you lose bbc channels. Typical no one seems to care about people who have to spend extra money just to keep up with these plans!

That's handy you have a new job coming in during your quiet period. Let's hope the weather is ok for you to do it.

Hicky

good job you had the gardner to help with the potting as it was a long job. Thats handy you can sit and enjoy a chat and a drink with him in your summerhouse. Glad you enjoyed your rissoto even though it was strange!

Yes I too really miss a daily dose of BB.

Watched the GP show, now watching that property developing show. Greedy lot, think they can just do a bit of decorating, then  some mug will come along and pay the earth for the house!   A shame so many just see property as a get rich quick scheme now and not a place to live in and enjoy! I reckon a lot of these so called "devlepers" don't make as much money as they think they will though.

Leg still painfull, but a bit better. So can't do too much, daughter tells me off if I do!

Mum is being well looked after by my nice private carer.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening both.
Not bad day here. Sunny in the morning but cloudier this afternoon.

Got my job done, about 3 hours work.
It wasn't really fertiliser, more like rotted down grass cuttings. The client wanted it moved and thought it might as well go round the young trees. Not sure if it'll do much good. She also wanted me to do some hedgecutting and some cutting back.
I noticed that her grass was getting quite long, so i should think it won't be too long before she's ringing me up wanting it cut. She's usually one of the first every year.

Glad you got that tree re-potted Hicky. I'm sure it'll thrive.
Probably a good idea to contact the doc if you think you still have a urinary infection.

I see your area doesn't get the TV change until the middle of 2020. Mollie's area 2019. https://www.ofcom.org.uk//700MHz-clearance-update.pdf (note that's a PDF)
So I'll be the guinea pig for you. Only affects terrestrial though. Satellite isn't changing.

Mollie. Hope your leg improves quickly.
There always seems to be hidden costs and unexpected expenses involved in property developing. But if you know what you are doing you could make a good living at it. Not for me though.

Watched Location then The Real Marigold Hotel. Paul Nicholas seems to have got old quickly?

Evening Both.

Didn't do a lot, decorator here again, went out for lunch to New Brighton, the Queens Hotel do food, as well as another 50 places but thought we would try it, it was ok, i had a beef madras with rice, not too hot, O/H had chops with all the veg and chips, she enjoyed it, cost ÂĢ20 including drinks, we had soda and lime.

O/H's not working in the morning so we are going to a big Sainsbury's to get the food, i'll make a list, for me.

Mollie, The Fig tree root ball was too heavy for me, of course with the roots being so compact and having the compost embedded and being wet because the compost (John Innis 3) soaks up the water from below like a sponge.

I'm going to get some Risotto rice as i fancy making another one with different spices to make it more interesting.

I watch some of those GP shows, of course it depends on what else is on.

Hope your leg improves soon, before your Carer resigns, remind me, what's the minimum wage now. Ha Ha.

Emptybox, It's quite a good idea to mulch the trees, any compost or leaf mold etc would be fine, as long as you don't put un-rotten leaves on plants as they take so much out of the soil to break down the leaves.

The gardener did say he would be getting busy starting in March.

I have noticed tons of baby flower buds almost ready to open on my Lizzy Plum tree, and some of the apple trees are almost ready as the buds are almost breaking out, could be with the winter here being pretty mild, well it seems to be to me.

Yes, if noone contacts me this week i will try and contact the doc and see whats going on.

We have a couple of tv's on Freesat, my little one is on the Aerial, could always get another if needed, there are 4 rooms with Freesat dish cables installed and 5 with sockets for Aerial.

I watched the Marigold Hotel, a funny lot aren't they, 1 doing all the moaning, he said, not keen on living in a shanty town, he's above it obviously, Lione Blair, what a plonka.

that bit of sun was well timed, so you could get that extra job done.

Sounds like your busy time is due to start soon then if her grass is getting long already. That is not so good that you are to be a guinea pig with the tv turn over! Let's hope you don't get too much trouble with it.

Hicky

glad you both enjoyed your lunch out. Hope you get lots of nice goodies from your Sainsburys list. Good idea to take advantage whilst your gardner is free, as you say, come March, he'll be busy.

My private carer loves working for me, because she used to get min wage of ÂĢ7 something, when she worked for the agency, but the agency charged me ÂĢ15 an hour! So she did all the hard work whilst agency boss did nothing but took the profit! (happens all the time with care work),  I now pay her ÂĢ10 an hour, win win all round for me and her! She has a lot of private customers now. But she is very reliable and orgainsed, so I am lucky to have her. I know mum would of had to be in a home if I did not have her now with all my problems recently.

I;ll have to cathc up with Marigold, it sounds interesting.

Leg slowly improving, daughter did shopping which was good and made tea.

Watched the Brits in the Sun, thought of Hicky's brother doing just that, looks a nice life.

Good nght both xxx

M

Hi guys.
Quick post. My phone and internet are off at home again. Probably the same fault as 3 weeks ago. I didn't think the BT engineer sounded very confident at the time.
Being the weekend it'll probably be next week before they fix it now, so I'll only really be able to be on when I'm in town, as the mobile signal at home is not up to it.

Glad you enjoyed your meal Hicky.
That story is just standard fare for Aisleyne, keeping her name in the papers. Don't know why she bothers really, as it never seems to lead to more useful work.  Keeps her ticking over I suppose.

Mollie, that seems to be a good deal for you and your carer.
Glad your leg is still improving.
Yes that Marigold Hotel was quite good. They're all characters.

Well, I'll see you when I see you. Might be able to make a post on Sunday from the supermarket carpark?
Otherwise it could be next week sometime.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A warm day today, 13c here mostly cloudy but dry with no wind.

Went to Cheshire Oaks for shopping and brekkie, picked up what was on my list, plus a few things that weren't, found a section that had Polish meats etc so got some of that to try it..

Just made another strange meal, so tasty, it consisted of chopped onion, Ribeye steak, mushrooms, a Polish meat, 2 types of Polish sausage flavoured with Cayenne pepper, Madras Paste and a little Garam Masala.

Decorator almost finished, just an hour Monday.

And, just remembered, the ÂĢ1 coin is being replaced on 28th March and the old one becomes useless on the 15th October, so if you have any in Jars, get rid quick.

Mollie,  That doesn't sound right the agency can take 50% of your payments when the carers come through them.

It's a lot better paying direct, as you say win/win.

The new Marigold show isn't as good as the last one, lots of complaints on social media, cheap to live though, ÂĢ30 a week to rent a 3 bed house, and the price of food, ÂĢ10 for 2x 3 course meals with drinks

I enjoyed the Brits in the sun, soain does seem lovely.

Emptybox, Oh dear, that blinking internet, and your mobile signal is not much good, thats such a pain.

Hi Hicky.
An update: I got back home and everything was back on again.
So either they got Openreach out quicker than expected, or it's an intermittent fault and might go off again.
So I'm taking the opportunity to post while it's still on.

That sounds an interesting meal. Not sure I'd want polish with my meat though?
Glad the disruption of the decorator is almost over.

I had an oil delivery this morning. Hopefully it'll last through the Summer, provided it starts warming up from now on.

I think some of the Marigold ones are too old. The idea is that they are going to India to see if they'd like to retire there, whereas Lionel Blair is already 87 and a bit frail. The others are mostly sixties and seventies though.
You forget these celebrities get old as well.

ETA: Watched the Barging prog, then cruising with Jane McDonald.
She was very good tonight, very funny. And we even got a couple of songs.

Evening Emptybox.

Not bad here, 12c cloudy with some slight wind picked up later.

O/H put the washing out, and i think it is dry.

Just had a Risotto, a ready made one, add water and heat in microwave, sliced some of the Polish sausage and belly pork, fried and added some piri piri sauce and then added the hot Risotto for a few minutes in the pan, very tasty and so quick.

Glad you got your internet back on, could be just a glitch.

Thats good, at least you don't have to worry about oil for a while. I turned my heating off yesterday and it's still off, i had some windows open so didn't want it to try and heat the place, i am trying to get rid of the paint fumes from the gloss.

Yes, the barging was ok and Jane, The Voice tonight.

Hope Mollie is OK, she could do without more pain.

Hicky

hope your phone line is ok with no more problems. What a pain they are lately!

Yes let's hope it does warm up soon, so all of our fuel bills don't get much higher.

Enjoy your sphag bol tonight.

Hicky

Must of been a good day if OH dried the washing on the line. I too have had a few days lately where I have managed to dry or almost dry washing on the line.

Yes I have found out all care agencies seem to charge this sort of fee to clients, but the actual carers only get minimum wage. As usual,  those at the top taking the rich pickings whilst those at the bottom do all the donkey work! So unfair.

Glad you enjoyed your rissoto. I had mac cheese, chips from chippie, peas and upsdie down pineapple pudding with custard, very nice.

Yes probably best to contact the docs to see if they have any results in, as you haven't heard anything.

If they don't release the new ÂĢ coin till end March, finishing them in October does't leave long to get them all in circulation!

I too watched the barge programme, I have caught up on Marigold too which I enjoyed. As you say, they do seem quite old to think of moving somewhere completely different as they are near 80's.

Thankfully leg is slowly imprvoing, but still can't walk much at all.

Had a busy day yesterday, which probably didn't help. Son has gone to Franfurt for the Final festival fanfest. He was very nervous about going abroad on his own, and meeting up with the rest of his gaming team, who he has never met in real life. He hasn't been far on his own either.  So I managed to see him off yesterday with OH and daughter. I hated using the wheelchair round the airport, but it was so painfull to walk, had no choice. After he checked in, we pulled up at end of runway lookout and actually saw son's plane take off. There was a guy with a huge step ladder and a camera, plane spotting.  It is quite interesting though watching them coming and going and OH could see on his phone their destinations.  We then met a friend OH used to work with for lunch, as she lives not far from airport. But had a panicky text off son just as food was served!  Lucky daughter was able to text and help him, but only whilst her food went cold, poor thing!  (he couldn't get his phone app to work, so couldnt' find his friend). He was meant to use some sort of app to meet his friend, and as typcial with all these techy things, when you need them, they don't go as planned! It was complicated, as his friend had a foreign phone. In the end daughter found out he could register for the airport network, and so use the app that way so he could locate friend, which he did.
He said the airport was massive compared to what we are used to! .There was about 30 check in desks in Bristol but about 460 in Frankfurt! So he did get in a panic till he found his friend.
I was tired out when I got home from the pain in my leg, but at least i managed to go.
I am having to rest it today, 2 of my private carers have mum.

This is what son has gone to...

http://ffxiv-fanfest.com/eu/activities/index.php

Looking forward to the Voice tonight.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi both.
Drizzly here today, but quite mild.

Phone and broadband still on, and I got a call from Openreach confirming it was fixed, so I presume it'll stay fixed. I shall certainly be annoyed if it breaks again.

Yes, that's the downside from a newly decorated room Hicky, all the paint fumes.
The gardener I started out working for used to do some decorating during the winter months, so I've done my share of painting, and I hate the fumes. I used to regularly get headaches after work, so I wouldn't like to do that sort of work now. Plus I was rubbish at it.

That was a big thing for your son to do, going abroad by himself. Well done to him.
I've heard of that game I think, but wouldn't have a clue what it's about.
Good job your daughter understood about the phone app that allowed him to get in contact with his friend.
Pity you needed the wheelchair to get round the airport, but better to use it than to have the stress and pain of hobbling around on one leg.
Why did the plane spotter need a ladder to see the planes? They're quite big things. Difficult to miss, I'd have thought?

Didn't realise the new pound was coming out next month. I doubt many collect them, so shouldn't take too long to take the old ones out of circulation. Hope one of my customers doesn't load me up with some just before October.
Don't know why they wanted to change the design? I understand it was to do with stopping counterfeits, but surely they could have added more security to the present design, without changing the size and weight, and needing the big change for vending machines etc.

Watched The Voice then Through the Keyhole, then watched the film 'Knocked Up'. Seen it before, but it was quite good.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Not bad today, 11c but cloudy all day, some sort of damp air this morning like you get in fog but it wasn't foggy.

Spent a couple of hours in the garden, O/H did more washing, picked up more leaves from the side of the decking by the fence.

decorator coming for an hour in the morning, relative coming to do some tiling in the kitchen and fit the vent in the roof for the hop fan thingie, also fit a dryer rack over the bath with the cords that you use to pull it up and let it down.

O/H said we could go out for brekkie as the workers will be here at 8.30am.

Mollie, Glad your leg is improving but if it's still hard to walk it's still a big problem really.

That was good, your lad going to Frankfurt, quite a lot to do for his first time.

I don't think i would have been happy depending on using a strange app to meet up with a friend, wow, couldn't he just ring him.

Emptybox, Glad your internet is still ok, thats good, we are so lost without it.

The funny thing is, when the decorator was almost finished his work, i was mentioning about the paint fumes as i could smell and feel them in my throat in bed, he said, oh forgot about them, they don't bother some people, i could have used water based gloss, ha ha, a bit late.

The ÂĢ1 coins have to be changed because of the massive loss incurred by  forging, i think the amount of forgeries is so great it's ridiculous, not sure why they couldn't keep the size the same and add security into it, the next ones are completely different.

Yes, the voice, then through the keyhole as well.

The Jump tonight at 7.30pm.

Hicky

both xx

Emptybox

let;s hope you don't have cause to get annoyed with Openreach and your phone lines behave now!

Yes does seem a bit drastic to change all the ÂĢ coins because it will cost a fortune to change all the food vending machines and car park ones.

Hicky

that's good it was mild enough for you to get in your garden for a couple of hours.  Definately a good idea to go out for brekkie with all the goings on in your house tomorrow. A dryer rack over the bath will be handy, What a shame the decorator didn't think to mentioin he could use water based paint, as the fumes are so strong with gloss paint. I don't like them either, they give me a sore throat. So remember to tell him to open windows tomorrow when he does it.

Leg not so painfull sitting and in bed now, but still bad if I walk around for too long. Meeting son in airport tomorrow afternoon, so daughter will push me in wheelchair again as don't want to put myself back. The man was plane watching on a big step ladder, because he needed to position himself and his camera above the fenceline, so he wouldn't have the fence in his photos.

Son having a great time, but still worries about coming back in a big airport without his internet! I told him to just follow the good old fashioned signs in the airport and he will be ok. Young people do seem to rely on their phones so much lately, so he tends to miss the things around him that he should notice!
He ate in the hotel last night and again tonight as he enjoyed it so much, he had currywurst. Do you know it HIcky? Very popular in Germany, I read it started just after the war in Berlin. so a local dish, but not a healthy choice of course!)
here it is...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currywurst

Drama lad been at rehearsals alll day and is doing 12 - 14 hours a day all week this week.
Daughter has been busy with her cakes, She is making one for son's theatre raffle. She has made 2 different shaped ones, now has to choose which one is best.

Watching Call the Midwife, then the itv hospital in India programme. I like both of those tv programmes.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening.
Not too bad here weatherwise. Quite mild.
Went to supermarket as usual.

Good idea to go out for breakfast tomorrow Hicky, if you've got two different workmen in.
Yes, I think paint fumes affect people differently. They certainly don't agree with me.

Glad your leg is getting better all the time Mollie.
Ah, I see. The plane watcher was peering over a fence. I suppose it gives him something to do?
I didn't realise they went in for that kind of junk food in  Germany? basically a sausage covered in curry sauce? I know a little German, so I knew wurst was sausage.
Are you going to watch your son's theatre production again?

Forgot about the Indian hospital prog. I watched The Jump then the X Men film.
Just some footballer went on The Jump. No big loss. I'm sure in previous series they've cancelled the live jump if there was heavy fog, and shown a pre-recorded one?

emptybox

Evening Both.

A busy day here today, warm as well, 12c but cloudy turning into rain at 4pm.

Had the decorator for an hour, the 2 relations have been here as well, tiled behind the new hob extract unit and fitted that back in, fitted the vent in the roof, fitted the clothes hanger system in the bathroom.

Have marinated my Poussin i spatchcocked, ready for oven when O/H takes her chicken out, the marinade i made was a concoction i thought up.

Oh, and as they were working over the hob we decided to go to McDonald's for brekkie, a double sausage & egg McMuffin is very nice for a change, with a hash brown as well, and a tea.

Mollie, Strange how your leg on hurts when you walk, i suppose it's a bonus really otherwise you would have pain all the time.

I will have had Curry Wurst as well as many other meals either from stalls or in food houses, the Germans love their spices, in fact i don't remember seeing any type of meats that wasn't spiced up.

Glad your lad is having a good time, yes, the big airports are not easy to find your way around, i have trouble in small ones, would hate to be on my own, mind you i was once when they decided to send me home from Germany by plane instead of taking my car, and leaving all the others behind and i was to fly from some out of the way airport but the plane had problems so we had to wait, when i got to London my plane top Manchester had left so i had to go to a hotel for the night, i didn't have any luggage as it was in the car, the next morning i got a plane and when i arrived at manchester my car was waiting, it took me so long my car beat me home, i then had to go to Halewood and start work.

Those Drama rehearsals take an awful lot of time don;'t they, so many hours, wow, you have to be dedicated.

I enjoyed the Jump, it sure is scary though, well done to them all, it's even harder when you are aware of the risks.

Emptybox, The paint fumes are ok today, the decorator finished the brickwork in the porch, a second coat but we leave the door ajar to let it breath, the gloss paint is dry so very few fumes now.

I didn't notice an Indian hospital program was on, darn it.

Yes, Robbie Fowler the footballer fell after the jump, tough luck really.

The fog was very bad, but if it doesn't add to danger then it's ok, think they could see fine, just us that was having problems.

We used to have some quite amazing food on a Sunday in Germany, it was from a type of food area in the town, it served many types of dish, we used to get a Wiener Schnitzel, can't get rid of italics now.
