Evening Both.

Not a bad day, rained early on then sunny.

went to Docs, he gave me more Anti-Biotics but need to see Urologist about cysts etc.

My Lad in NZ is in the south island, he's done the Glacier walk and has been in the Ice Bar, he's offering a meal for us to go where we want with my other lad and his O/H so i have booked in the best Chinese in Parkgate, it's for my Birthday and Christmas, very nice, have booked for Jan 7th, tried to get the Chinese New Year celebrations but couldn't get the times or dates we needed.

Mollie, Glad your sore throat has cleared up, anything that helps get rid is good.

Why did you need a new immersion tank, you don't use electric for your heating do you, didn't know immersion heaters were still used as they are not used with central heating as you don't have a tank.

Thats a nice advent tree, lovely when you can have lights on a picture.

Emptybox, You will soon be finished for Christmas no then, take it easy, most will keep till later.

I think this new storm is planned to keep everyone in over Christmas, mind you there might not be a lot of transport, public anyway.

I don't think many sets of fairy lights have fuses in the secondary side of the lights, they should really as the fuse in the plug may not blow in the event of a short circuit in the low voltage side, some sets have the bulbs wired in many configurations and most bulbs are only about 3.5volt, the Led sets should never go but if the wires was broken then that could cause a problem i assume unless the secondary side has a fuse.

Hicky

hope the anti biotics help you.Dont 'forget to have yogurt or yogurt drink with them. When are you due to see urologist?

Sounds interesting a glacier walk. That is nice of your lad and a special meal out for you to look forward to in the New Year.

The emmersion tank is like Emptybox's, just a back up for the central heating. We used it recently when the central heating broke. Landlord is a good landlord and likes to think all is in good working order, so got it fixed.

Emptybox

good job you are making good progress work wise before Christmas. When are you going to your brothers?

Hopefully this storm will of gone by then. Think they have decided it is not going to be that bad after all. I think they just like making up these stupid names for them! Annoys me intensely, they seem to want to give a name to every rain shower we get now! Another thing they are importing from the States!

Watched Mr Bean at Christmas, he got the turkey stuck on his head!

Now watching The Trafford programme.

Meant to say thanks for the CBB link , so looking forward to that.

Tired sorting out care for mum over the holiday time and looked after her today.  Ribs all achy now, what a wreck I have been lately... a cold, a fall and now rib pain back. Need to stop rushing around a bit now.

Took the carers stockings over that daughter had made and hid them in cupboard.

Daughter and OH did food shop in Lidl and  made my tea. Had some spouts on a stick, love them.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.
Rain this morning but dried up a bit this afternoon.
Didn't go out though. Started collating stuff ready for doing my tax return.

That's good of your lad in New Zealand to pay for a meal for the UK family.
Didn't know they had glaciers in NZ? That's interesting.
My cheap Xmas lights are just the ordinary type of bulb; they're not LEDs.

Mollie, yes you'll have to try to take it easy over Christmas, especially if your ribs are playing up again. Not easy I know.
I'm hoping the winds aren't too bad by the time I drive. It's forecast to be rain though, so not likely to be a pleasant drive unfortunately.
Sprouts on a stick? Never heard of those. Are they dipped in chocolate or something?

Thanks for the Elvis advent.....I think?
I watched the Trafford Centre thing as well.

Evening Both.

Not too bad today, 8c and dry, some wind, going to be nasty tomorrow afternoon i think.

Booked my hospital appointment, Jan 26th.

Window cleaners came, they do a good job every month.

I've made a list of my Christmas food needs so O/H can pick them up for me.

Have a super Christmas if you can't get on before the big day.

Mollie, The antibiotics work very quick, i can see the difference in the urine colour/cloudiness, it's whether things are good when the tablets finish thats the thing.

I see now, the immersion is a standby, not many of then in houses now, modern heating boilers don't use boilers as they are instant, it also means the cupboards in bathrooms come down to give a bigger bathroom.

Sprouts on a stick, never heard of that.

Emptybox, I've moved over to Opera for my browser, will try this as the other 3 are hopeless.

I didn't realise about NZ either, he sent me all the pictures, they supply all the clothing to be worn, just as well.

Yes, looking forward to the swanky meal, pity we couldn't get the Chinese New Year ones but the times and dates didn't fit with my lad here, he's on like a standard  shift system covering emergencies and the times and dates are filled in a year in advance and if someone is off or sick they have to fill in for those missing times, there are 12 in the local group that share the coverage.

Yes, the weather isn't looking good for the next few days, Friday looks bad, Sat Sun not so bad.

Hicky

both xxx

Hicky

glad the antibiotics help so quickly. Let's hope it stays ok now, but at least if you do develop problems, you don't have too long to wait till your hospital appointment.

hope yourOH gets all the food on your list. Does she get it from sainsburys as she works there?

Emptybox

good idea to start getting stuff ready for your tax return. Such a boring job though!

Are you off tomorrow to your brothers?

Yes I did hear tomorrow is to be windy, and wet too, but they think it may be confined to far north of Scotland now, so hope it is not too bad for you.

The stick the sprout comes on is the stick it grows on, so you can cook it freshly picked, so to speak! Well the sprouts will be fresh picked off the stick, but the stick is not fresh picked off the tree, as you buy it on the stick. (or wherever the stick is picked from? If not a tree, maybe it is picked off a bigger stick!)

Did my usual jobs, took dog to vets, then got home and rib pain real bad. Had to take strong pain killers and use TENS machine. So could do nothing at all this afternoon. I am going to have to cut back on the time I care for mum myself now. Good job I have good private carers.

Looking forward to watching Joey Essex at 9pm, then early night for me.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi all.
Windy and cold here, but quite sunny.
Went into town to get a few things, and submitted my tax return online.

Hicky, at least you've got your hospital appointment booked. Is that to see the Urologist?
Glad the antibiotics are doing the job for now.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your Chinese meal, even if it doesn't coincide with the Chinese New Year.

My central heating still uses the hot water tank, which is in a cupboard in the bedroom. The boiler sends hot water through a coil at the bottom of the tank, which then heats the water in the tank. The immerser goes in the top of the tank.

Looks like the worst of the weather is coming to me tomorrow afternoon.
Not as bad as in the north west of Scotland and the Northern Isles though.
Luckily I don't need to go anywhere tomorrow, so shouldn't be too badly affected. Hopefully Christmas Eve won't be so bad?

Hi Mollie.
Oh you mean sprouts on the stalk? I thought you meant you were eating them on cocktail sticks for some reason.
It's a relative of the cabbage, so the stalk grows out of the ground, with cabbage like leaves at the top.

Sorry to hear you are still in pain from your ribs. You must have been overdoing it. Hope the painkillers and TENS machine does the trick.
Also hope the dog is OK?

Yes, my car will look exactly like that Mollie. Apart from the fact that it's a white van, and won't have any decorations on it.

Watched The Secret Life of the Zoo then The World's Most Expensive Toys. Then turned over for Mrs Brown's Boys, now watching Katherine Jenkins.
She seems to have slimmed down a lot? Not sure it's an improvement?
Still stunningly beautiful though.

Evening Both.

O/H was out at work for 3.30, she has so much to do, then after work she will do the shopping but then has to do some for her mum and my lad so she hasn't had any rest today, and she's at work in the morning at 3.30 again.

Had a busy day, dry this morning, my lad with the little 2yr old and a 14 year old daughter came at about 10am, the little one was playing with some of the cars we have, they all went in the garden and the lad was running around the trees and on the decking having a fine time., they stayed for a good while then O/H's brother came with his O/H to see the Bungalow, been saying they would come since we moved in, they loved the place.

Mollie, Yes, Antibiotics are working, O/H got my food with list, she only shops at Sainsbury's or M&S as she doesn't trust the others and she gets her discount of course.

Thats a lovely advent pic, such a nice car.

I always have a few sprouts but have never really liked them, i think they used to be stronger flavour when i was young.

Hope you can manage the pain, nothing worse over Christmas.

Emptybox, Thats handy getting you tax return in.

Yes, the appointment is to see the Urologist about what happens next.

I recorded the toys program, been watching Robot Wars each day as well, love it.

Hicky

both xx

Hicky

gosh your OH does sound extra busy, she starts so early too. I bet she has to go to bed very early starting work at that time?

How nice the grandchildren came and enjoyed themselves in the garden, then OH's brother came to see your bungalow too.

So pleased you are doing well on those meds.

Emptybox

well done on getting your tax return done. Was it busy in town today? OH and daughter went to tesco at lunch time and it was very busy.

Didn't think katherine jenkins needed to lose weight, she is very beautiful as you say.

Rib pain much improved, ,but had to take it slower today. No painkillers fortunately, got away with just my TENS.

The dog not too bad, she has eye problems, doesn't produce enough moisture so I have to get her eyes drops, else they go all gungy. Poor thing.

Not much on tv today, think we will look at kareoke on playstation like we do every Christmas.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi both.
Very windy and lashing rain all day.

I had the recycling bin out for collection this morning, and the bin men laid it down after they had emptied it, but the wind was still moving it around. Luckily it didn't go on the road.

A bit calmer tonight, but still raining. Glad I didn't have to go anywhere today.

Your OH has a busy schedule Hicky.
Not certain you should be letting a 2 year old play with your car? Definitely don't hand over the keys.
Not surprised your OH's brother was impressed with your bungalow, the work you've put in on it.

I don't mind sprouts. Very rarely buy them myself. I don't see why not though.
I might buy some next week, now you've reminded me about them.

Another nice advent pic Mollie. Not many more now.
Glad your ribs have improved enough to forego the painkillers.
The town wasn't particularly busy yesterday. But then it's a very small town.
Good that it wasn't anything too serious with doggy. Although the eyes must be annoying for her.

Watched Food Unwrapped and then the Morecambe and Wise stuff on channel 5.

Hope you are both having a nice Christmas Eve. xxx

Hicky

are the family coming to visit tomorrow, or are you going to theirs for Christmas dinner?

Emptybox

hope you are enjoying the break from work.

My daughter is sorting out Christmas dinner tomorrow. She did all the food shopping and is cooking it too. I have mum to look after tomorrow morning, but don't mind as my private carer is taking over in the afternoon and taking her to her house, so we can go home for lunch. This year I can't bring mum to our house like we usually do as we can't lift her into the car, but the carer will walk her in her wheelchair to her house to have dinner with her family, which is nice.

Going to watch Birds of a Feather tonight, then play Kareoke playstation game with rest of the family after.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Both.

Happy Christmas Eve, have a great day tomorrow, and don't eat too much.

I've just been eating offal, heart, liver and Neck of something.

Not a bad day, 9c and plenty of cloud, stayed in except for a walk around the garden.

Mollie, O/H went to work at 3.30am and came back at 11am, so busy.

Glad your pain has eased,

Thats a nice advent day picture, very nice indeed.

Emptybox, My garden has survived the winds yesterday, had to refasten a few bubble sheet to the tubs.

Children are so easily diverted from what they intended to do, he brought a box of matchbox cars but as soon as he say the ones we have incase little ones visit he had 2 of them, one a dumper truck and the other a car that if you pull it back and let go it drives forward, oh he had fun with those.

Yes, i saw those, food unwrapped and Morecambe and wise, i never tired of those 2.

Hicky

Hicky

we posted together.

Glad the winds did not cause too much disruption to your garden. It did not get very windy here.

Not been a bad day weather wise today. That is nice the little one enjoyed your cars, as you say, at that age their attention is easily diverted.

I saw Morecombe and Wise too. Those two were brilliant together.

I hope you too have a lovely day tomorrow, and enjoy your Christmas dinner.

I am sure your OH will be glad of the break from work now as she has been so busy.

M

Merry Christmas Hicky, Mollie and El Loro.

Hope everyone is having a great day?

Horrible weather yesterday, torrential rain and a lot of surface water, but I survived. Started off not too bad today, but is now raining and blowing a gale.

Still, never mind, plenty of food and drink to come.

Pity you can't have your Mum over Mollie, but sounds like she'll be well catered for? As do you, from your Masterchef daughter.

Enjoy your family karaoke.

Hi Hicky. Hope you enjoyed your offal?

Ah, Matchbox cars? That's a relief. I thought you'd let the kids loose on real cars.

Glad your garden survived the winds so far.

Evening Mollie, EL LORO and Emptybox.

Had a lovely day, took all the meats, gravy and stuffing down to my lads as he was supplying the rest, very nice too.

We all gather while the pressies are given out then we open them, that takes a while, then we all sit down for dinner.

Got an awful sore throat, oh dear, just made a drink of whiskey honey and black currant with hot water, see if it helps.

O/H was up early cooking Rib of Beef and Turkey, she must have been up at 6am.

Mollie, I've been watching the Christmas shows and animation ones, so good.

Thanks for the advent pic, reminds me of some of the shows i've been watching.

EL LORO, Merry Christmas to you also, hope you had a great day.

Emptybox, Sorry you've had horrible weather, it's been lovely here, went out in a short sleeve tee-shirt, 13c today, can't complain can i.

I like a bit of offal, always have the parsons nose, but the neck is very tasty, don't get many of them these days.

Don't think the winds were as bad as expected, or maybe i didn't see or hear them.

Anyway, got a fridge and a freezer full full of food so if the weather is bad i'm all-right Jack. HaHa

HAPPY CHRISTMAS HIcky, Emptybox and El Loro.

Emptybox

pity about the bad weather, but hopefully all the food and drink will make up for it.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas meal, was it turkey and Christmas pud? Yes Masterchef daughter did a grand job.....huge choice of veg, even Yorkshire puddings and carer's family sent me photos of mum enjoying family lunch with them. So I know she was well looked after too.

Hicky

glad to hear you had a lovely time with your lad and family today. I see your OH was up early  being busy, even on her day off from work. But I am sure all were grateful to her for cooking the meat.

Oh no,..... sorry to hear you now have this damn sore throat. That is all you can do, keep drinking plenty. I think the honey especiall does help, I had some with lemon as I didn't have blackcurrant. Hope it doesn't last long.

Looking forward to Mrs Brown's boys tonight, watching the dancing now, then Corrie.

Enjoy your Christmas evening. xxx

M

both

hope you are both having a good boxing day.

Hicky

how is your sore throat? Hope it has eased. My daughter has a sore throat now. So many bugs this time of the year, that is the trouble.

Emptybox

hope you enjoyed your Christmas day dinner.

Today we went a ride on the mini steam railway, it is only open for a few hours today as volunteers run it. Nice little run though for ÂĢ1.50.

Lovely sunny day, so dried my washing too.

Daughter making party tea buffet tonight, then we will play Game of Throne cluedo son got for Christmas and our kareeoke game.

Will watch OUtnumbered as it is back on bbc1 for an episode tonigth, I used to like this show.

Watching West Side story now.

My mum got another Christmas dinner with my other private carer today. So she is well looked after.

Have a good Boxing day evening both. xxx

M

Hi both.
Home in one piece after having a lovely time at my Brother's.
Worst Christmas weather for a while though. It was snowing and blowing a blizzard first thing this morning. Luckily it quickly turned to rain and cold. Only 3 or 4 degrees up here.

First part of my journey home was in rain, with some lying snow still on the fields around, but about halfway home the sun came out, so i actually made good time.
Came back with a bag of cake and shortcake from my SiL. As well as a couple of CDs as presents, and a box of choccies from the Nephews.

Funnily enough, SiL had a very sore throat as well. Hope she hasn't passed it to me.
Hope yours improves soon Hicky.

We had Lentil soup followed by turkey and all the trimmings Mollie. Then Christmas pudding a few hours later. I'd have preferred to have the pudding straight away, but they prefer to leave a gap for some reason?
Anyway it was very nice.
Had beer, champagne, other white wine and several glasses of red.
Quite surprised I managed to escape without a hang over or any symptoms....so far.
There were only the five of us this year, as they go to see SiL's family today. I ducked out of that one.

Watched Dr Who on TV then Strictly and Call the Midwife, as SiL is a fan of the last two. Other than that just bits and bobs.

That was a lot of work for your OH Hicky, even if it was just the meats that she was preparing.
At least you've got plenty of food in, if the weather deteriorates.

Glad you enjoyed your steam train trip Mollie. That's something different for Boxing Day, or do you do it every year? (do you not usually go to see the Xmas beach bathers?)
Sounds like your daughter is doing great on the food. And two Xmas dinners for your Mum.
Game of Thrones Cluedo eh? I can just imagine that.

Not sure what to watch tonight? Perhaps Still Open All Hours, but that just takes up Â― hour?

Sorry to hear about Rick Parfitt (Status Quo) and George Michael dying.
Only 53 for George Michael.

Evening Mollie.

This is from yesterday, it didn't go.

Had an awful night with my throat, had taken 2 cups of whiskey, honey and blackcurrant but still bad this morning, took a Strepsil twice and that seemed to help, had a couple of easy peel Satsuma thingies, they seemed to help also

O/H cooked a nice piece of beef steak so had a sandwich with mustard. will keep drinking coffee to drive it away, feel a lot better tonight compared to this morning.

O/H was out early again to work as 1 person was off and she had to go in to get stuff ready for collection from the safe, then she goes to see her Mother till 1pm.

I saw the dancing, missed Mrs Brow, so much to watch at Christmas.

Thanks for the advent picture, wonder if we will get any snow this year, we have the big snowman outside lit with Led's.

That mini steam railway sounds fun,

I see that Outnumbered program, isn't it a series, it's only on for 40 minutes, i'll record it to make sure i don't miss it.

Got loads of chocolate nuts and boxes of chocolates, off my SIL i got a set of kneeling pads that fasten on with velcro and a tool belt that you wear in the garden with small tools for pruning etc, very nice.

-------------------------------------

Oh darn it, it's still here.

Hicky

Evening Both.

7c here, not bad, dry sunny with no wind.

felt a bit better today, throat has eased during the day, not eating much so had chocolate and chocolates.

Been drinking honey and Blackcurrant.

Emptybox. Glad you enjoyed your time at your Brothers, Pity the weather wasn't so good, nice to bring stuff back though.

Hope my appetite returns soon, all this food will be wasted, she shopped for a couple of weeks stuff so the fridge and freezer are full, it's ok  in the freezer, might have to see what i can freeze.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Not bad day here. quite a lot of sunshine.

Just taking it easy. Went to the supermarket this afternoon.

Pity your throat was so bad over Christmas, but good that it's improving a bit now.
Perhaps you'll be able to get through some of this food now? At least you're getting through the chocolates.

I see your other presents were gardening themed.

I see we've lost Princess Leia now.

Watched the second part of the Agatha Christie thing 'The Witness for the Prosecution'. Very good but a lot of stuff in it that I'm sure Agatha Christie didn't write? Swearing and sex.

Hope you are enjoying family time Mollie.
And your ribs have been OK?

so glad that despite the awful weather you had a good Christmas with your family. I see you passed on the visit to SIL's family after, don't blame you, as you had already been with family for awhile.  At least you know that alchohol does not affect your condition as you had a good sample of it over Christmas.

Sounds like your SIL made sure you came back with a good supply of food too.

And you also came back with a few nice gifts. That is odd how they have a gap between dinner and pudding, but good job you did get your pudding later.

Hope you do not get SIL'S sore throat. My daughter still has one.

Yes we did go and see the Christmas morning swim, there were over 1000 swimmers this year, and it was very mild and dry, which was good.

It was Boxing day we went on the steam train. (like we did last year).

Hicky

What a nuisance that sore throat put you off your food, just at a time you have a house full of food!  Hope the honey and blackcurrant have helped ease it now, and you get your appetite back too. I bet your SIL garden themed gifts will come in useful for you.

Yes a bad end of the year for the crop of celebs we have lost. In fact... this year as a whole seems to of been a bad year for celeb losses. The loss of the gran from the Royales means we have lost 2 from that show alone this year.

Luckily my rib pain has been under control (not fully gone, will take awhile), so I can cope with my TENS machine.

I am pleased to say so far this week the weather here has been wonderful. Yesterday and today we have been able to take the dog a long walk on the seafront.

I have had a few complications with timings and the agency care, but not too bad considering they were covering the Christmas period.

Me and the family have had the board games out, so far we have played Game of Thrones cluedo and Nintendo monopoly and tonight will play a Sherlock detective game.

Think I will watch Ethel and Ernest tonight.

What are you watching?

i saw a big poster at the bus stop advertising Celeb BB with a photo of Emma and Rylan. If they are advertising big, let's hope it is a good one.

Hope you are both well and having a good day. xxx

M

Evening Emptybox.

A cool day today, -1 this morning rising to 3c in the day, sunny with no wind.

Been watching the jungle animals and Robot wars for a few hours.

Not back to eating as normal but getting there., i had put down on my Christmas food list some spicy dips, well, i have about 6 jars and tubs of assorted dips, a pack of assorted dips, which i've seen off, a load of spicy type sausage packs from various countries to plough through, lucky enough the use by date is ok, probably preserved by the spices etc.

Been eating a few chocies, have got so many, yummy.

Yes, so many stars and actors die each year, hard to believe really, but thats life.

Not long till New Year or CBB now, can't wait, i wonder how many of the existing HM's will be going in, heard a few names bandied round but can wait a few days.

Hope Mollie is having a good Christmas and her Mums carers are fine.

Hicky

Evening both.
Not too bad a day. A bit dull but dry.
Didn't go anywhere, but did some ironing.

When I came back with my CDs I went to play them on the CD player on my Hi-Fi system, but found it wouldn't recognize any CD. I hadn't used it for a while so thought it might be broken. But I looked it up and read that the laser lens might just need cleaning. So today I took it to pieces and cleaned the lens with a cotton bud, and what do you know, it all works fine again now.

Hi Mollie. That's good that you haven't been too bothered with your ribs, and you've had good weather for your seafront walks.
Enjoy your family board games.

Drinking can cause me to have symptoms, as the last time I was bad was in November, the last time I was at my Brother's. But this time I was lucky to escape without too many consequences.

Glad you are getting your appetite back Hicky. Sounds like you've a lot to get through when you are better.
I'm steadily working my way through the box of chocolates I got from my nephews.
Yes, I've heard a lot of rumours on who is supposed to be going into CBB. Difficult to know which to believe?

I watched Ethel and Ernest as well Mollie. Quite moving, for a cartoon.

Evening Emptybox.

Pretty hard frost here this morning, -1 again, but rising during the day.

took a walk around the garden, didn't do anything else, watched a few recordings.

Yes, i have read about the laser getting tarnished or dirty, i used to have a CD cleaner if i remember right, just a cd with a pad on i think.

O/H also bought about 6 of those big family bags of crisps and chips, was eating some with half a tub of Piri Piri Coleslaw

O/H just cooked a large Gammon, and son just dropped off a quart of shrimps from the family boat but they are small and O/H can't pick with her Arthritis so i'll have to shull them.

It's going to be warmer here tomorrow, if it's warm enough i might get some of the jobs done outside.

Here's one report of the rooms.

Hicky

glad your appetite is coming back, hope you can now enjoy all the Christmas/New Year treats you have in the house.

Did you manage to sort the shrimps out? That is interesting that your son has a family boat. Does he take it out often and where does he keep it?

Hope it is a bit warmer so you can get some jobs done outside.

Thank you for the CBB links I only looked at the house one, as I don't want to spoil the suspense of who is going into the house. Gosh the house certainly looks nice and bright, and what a lot of paint they used!

Emptybox

glad to see you are enjoying your choccies.  What sort are they? Milk/plain/white? Milk Tray? Thorntons? Family bought me a box from Aldi in the shape of a Christmas tree and they are delicious. Different flavoured centres, and a mix of milk, dark, white.

Glad you got the hifi to play your CD's ok, Who would of thought a mere cotton bud was the answer.   What CD's did you have?

Daughter bought me a great pair of trainers, they are black with splodges of bright colours and the  soles light up all round in different colours! (they would match the colour scheme of the CBB house well!).  Unfortunately they were on the small side, but all is not lost,  as she has ordered an exchange, so now all I have to do is wait.

It was certainly lucky that the alchohol did not make you unwell this time, especially as you were away.

Another lovely day today, even though it was a bit chilly, so we joined lots of other families by going on a stroll with the dog down the seafront again.

My private carer had my mum as I have had to take a break from when I had sore ribs, which seem a lot better today.

Watched Worlds Strongest Man as son likes that, now watching the Flying Scotsman documentary. We played Exploding Kittens board game too.

OH is enjoying his week off work. And it is an added bonus that the weather is so nice and dry.

Have a good evening both xx

M

Evening both.
Another dry day here. There might have been some sun too, although I wasn't paying much attention.

I haven't got a cleaning CD Hicky, but it was refusing to play anything anyway, so it probably wouldn't have worked. But I used cassette head cleaning fluid on the cotton bud to clean the lens, and that worked a treat.

Hope you managed to get your prawns shelled?
I saw the House pictures. Very garish.

Hi Mollie. It's Thornton's Continental dark chocolates that i was given. I prefer dark chocolate.
The CDs I got were the latest from Robin Trower and Marillion (soft rock stuff).

Your trainers sound..er...great. At least people will see you coming anyway.
Hope the right size ones are just as colourful.
An exploding kittens game? I wouldn't have thought you would have approved of that?
Glad you enjoyed a nice seafront walk.

Watched Location, Location and then the programme on the Bronte sisters.

emptybox

Evening Both.

10c here today, just cloud though, no wind.

My lad brought me 4 curry kits, he ordered for Christmas but they never arrived, they should be nice, each one makes enough for 4 people.

Didn't go out, just watched TV, did a lot of coughing in the night, throat ok, eating better.

Mollie, I shulled some of the shrimps last night, O/H finished the rest this morning, didn't think she would be able to, but when she was a girl she used to shull shrimps for 8hrs a day, probably why her fingers are riddled with Arthritis now, the constant cold water on her hands all day.

All her family are fishermen, her father and all his brothers were fishermen, all dead now though, her brother and his son are fishermen, they keep their boats on either Meols or Thurstaston Beach.

They do it full time, when there's no shrimps they go fishing or cockling.

Emptybox, The CD drives usually spin up and try to read the track, the cleaning CD, i had one similar to this one, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ardis...+drive+cleaning+disc

Been watching all the Robot Wars, didn't realise there were so many but 1 series is from the USA, they are big and nasty as you would expect, the loser is usually in so many pieces that it's looks like it been through a car shredder, but it's fun.

Only a few days to CBB now, and a few days later The Voice.

sorry you have a  cough now, hope it does't last too long. But glad you are eating well. That is very interesting about your OH's fishing family. I knew Meols well when my parents lived there. Nice for you to get fresh shrimps too.

Thorntons do nice choccies, glad they are the ones you like.

Hope you are also enjoying listening to your CD's.

Did a bit of food shopping and had brekkie out at garden centre, very nice it was , love their brown fried bread.

Not long to CBB.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening.
Very dull day here, but didn't do much.

Went out in the van to look at a job, but didn't do any work. That can keep till after New Year now.

Sorry you were coughing in the night Hicky.
That's good that your OH was able to do the prawns despite her arthritis.
I knew her family were all in the fishing game.

I might buy that CD cleaner.
Trouble is nowadays I play the CD once to rip it to the computer, then I mostly play the music on the computer after that, so the CD player on the Hi-Fi doesn't get used much. The computer is hooked up to the Hi-Fi anyway, so the amp and speakers get plenty of use.

Glad you enjoyed your garden centre brekkie Mollie.
Probably only a couple of days worth of chocolates left now. I am rationing myself to 3 per night. Still got plenty of cake and shortbread left though.

Watched the Captain America film then Still Game followed by Mrs Brown's Boys.

Was it a new job you went to look at, or just one you wanted to check out what is involved. Yes good idea to keep it for a few days now as it is still holiday time.

You are being very disciplined rationing your choccies, but I think you are right to do so, as they are more enjoyable a few at a time. And that is nice you still have cake and shortbread treats for later on too.

I also still have some treats left, and are having a few a day.

Hicky

hope the cough has eased by now and it doesn't disturb your sleep. What have you been doing today? In the garden, relaxing in the house or off to see family?

We have been to Ikea and bought a table for the lounge. It is ok for ÂĢ16.

Are you both staying in for New Years Eve evening and watching tv?

We thought about it and decided to go out tonight, a meal and entertainmet...

I have bought an extremeley glittery sequeined golden blouse in the sale especially for tonight. (only really suitable for something like New Years Eve though.).

just found it online...it was last years stock, that was why it was reduced, don't mind though as I got a bargain. here it is...

Have a good New Years Eve both xxx

Hi Mollie.
Hope you enjoy your evening out bringing in the New Year.
Yes I'll just be in, watching TV and enjoying a G&T.
That blouse looks quite muted for you? No rainbow colours or anything.
Just joking, it looks very nice.

The job was just a place I do regularly. I'd mostly got it tidied up before Christmas, but there were still a lot of apple to fall from the trees, so I was in seeing if the wind had brought them down yet.
It's just a holiday place, so the owner isn't often there, but the apples fall into the yard where they park their car, so the apples need raking up soon.
I would have done it there and then, but I wasn't wearing my work clothes (that's my excuse).

Very dull weather here today, but dry so far. But there's supposed to be a band of wet weather travelling down the country later.

you don't need an excuse not to actually work on New Years Eve, you did well even going to check the job out!

A G and T sounds like a nice New Years Eve treat for you. Enjoy. x

Is it sphag bol for tea?

Wonder if Hicky is having any special food treats today?

Peter Pan goes wrong is on bbc1 at 6.20, we saw this same play/theatre group do this, Very funny on stage, not sure how it will come over on tv though until I see it.

Have a good evening both. x

Evening Both.

Not bad today, 10c again but cloudy, didn't do anything, walked the garden, for the exercise.

Not going anywhere tonight, it's just another day to me.

Trying to get through the tons of food but O/H keeps bringing more home, i'll never catch up, am eating better, O/H has got the same cold, we have been drinking hot blackcurrant juice again, very nice too.

Still eating chocolates, wow, so many and in the dining room there's tons more.

I noticed that Peter Pan thing is on, was going to check it out.

Not usually much on TV New Years Eve as they assume everyone goes out.

Wow, these Dairy Box are good.

My Lad sent a message from NZ this morning, Happy New year, they are well ahead of us.

O/H bought all the add on's needed for my curry kits, the garlic, limes, fresh ginger, coconut milk and onions so i can make some curries, if i had room, everything is full, oh dear.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you both. I hope it is a good one.

I am watching the traditional Strauss New Years day live concert from  Vienna now, it is on every new year on bbc2 at 11.15am,  my mum always used to watch it too. So I have asked this mornings carer to put it on for her. The flowers/dancers in the nice old building are lovely. They just said there are over 30,000 blooms, plus pineapples/lemons in the displays, no wonder they look impressive.

Emptybox

hope you enjoyed your G and T and spag bol last night, and you found something interesting to watch on tv.

Hicky

that is good that you are all set up for your curry now, glad you are eating ok now, what a shame your OH too has the cold, hope she feels better soon too.

Sounds like you have a good choice of food in, especially if your OH has bought more in now.

My daughter has also bought a bit of extra party food she can cook this afternoon for us to enjoy as a special New years day tea time treat.

We had a good night last night, we got a huge carvary meal and entertainment all night. The room and lighting was lovely with lots of fun things on the tables. Really loud whistles, streamers, hats, crackers etc.  We had 2 Elvis's then another singer later on. It was in the big seafront pub where I take mum to sit outside in summer, so the boys were glad they didn't have to dress up and could wear their jeans. Son and I popped into mum's to sort her shopping etc out, and she was fast asleep tucked up well in bed.

Some of my sequins fell off my new blouse! Obviously the hazards of wearing a blouse covered in sequins! Never mind, there are so many, it is not noticable.

Raining here today,  but we have had a good dry spell up till now.

Have a good New years day both xxx

M

Happy New Year!
I see you are sticking with the reindeer theme into the new year Mollie?
Glad you enjoyed your evening out, even if you did shed a few sequins.
A bit rainy here today as well, but the blue sky is peeking through again now.

Couldn't find any T for my G&T, so I had to have ginger ale with the gin instead.
Had spag bol and beer earlier on.

I watched the traditional Hogmanay TV last night, fiddles and pipes and accordions etc. It's not really a Scottish Hogmanay without some fiddling.
Thinking I might watch a DVD this afternoon. I've had the Star Wars The Force Awakens sitting here for months, without getting round to watching it.

Didn't see your previous post in time to watch that Peter Pan thing, but I remember you talking about it at the time. Could watch it on the iplayer I suppose?

Hi Hicky. Hope you had a good night, even if you didn't celebrate.
My Brother called me at 1am, just as I was going to bed. He said they'd been watching back to back episodes of 'The Night Manager' and midnight had come and gone without them noticing. Not sure whether I believe him or not.

That was nice that you got New Year messages from New Zealand 12 hours early.
Don't overdose on all those choccies. I've got a slightly fragile stomach this morning. Not beacause of drink, but because I chose to have sandwiches, crisps, mince pies and shortbread after midnight.
