hope you feel a bit better today, good job you got a food treat just incase you stay home. Sounds like it gets very busy in your brother's house over Christmas. Is it other family or friends he has over? Do they all stay for Christmas dinner?  Strange how you feel unwell every few months, it is so hard trying to think of a pattern to something like that and to try and work out what is bringing the bouts on? If you are ok, what time are you leaving? Think you said it was around an hours drive, was it? Forgot to say, when we came back from Wales, it was not bad flooding of houses or anything, but just a problem with some of the rural road flooding. So that is why we stuck to the town way back.

Hicky

hope you got into your garden today. Today we actually got some sun, can't remember the last time we saw that shining down on us. So took doggie a longer walk today.

When I took mum home last night, I saw there were several more warapped presents off the carers for her, and some biscuits from Disneyland off one who went there on holiday. They are so good to her.

Not sure what to watch on tv tonight, so might play our kareoke game that we bring out each Christmas.

Have a good evening both. xxx

Hicky, there is mention on the Social Strata site that they may change the posting box to be floating which would suit you. It's not happening yet but it is under serious consideration.

That is interesting El Loro. I too would be very pleased to see the floater back again. It makes it much easier to read previous posts.

M

Evening All.)

Had some of my bacon this morning for brekkie, very nice, sliced half the piece up on a 4mm setting, will do thicker next time, it surprised me in that it didn't taste too salty, didn't realise you got so much, the machine worked fine, think i used the wrong clade though, will use the smooth edged one next time.

You get 3 blades with differing edge shaping.

Weather was fine, the builders came, finished the black painting of the bottom bricks under the damp course, above that is the anti drip plastic moulding that is fitted for the bottom of the K-Rend screed.

We had sun all day, the wind had dropped but the temperature was about 7C.

Mollie, I managed to do a bit more on the gazebo scaffold/platform, fitted more screws and install a vertical post to give me something to hold onto when on the platform, in case wind blows.

I like the advent sledge, great fun.

Emptybox, You are getting more rain than me at the mo, but the wind was the problem.

As i said, the bacon was great, need some more belly pork to make some of the smoked type.

I had those symptoms of wanting to go all the time after my last op, the TURP one, it lasted a couple of days in Hospital, it slowly got better when i was home, in the end i could control it.

If i wake up in the night and i feel all my bones and muscles aching i take 2 Paracetamol, it must be the Arthritis.

Looking forward to the new year, i can spray my trees against the bugs and prepare for spring, i'll see if i can do some grafting this year, i have plenty of trees to play with.

I'm subscribed to a few youtube channels for videos, at least 4, get an email with about 6 videos to watch each week.

EL Toro, I forgot about the double page thing, yes i have a wide screen, 24", i am using it now with 2 pages side by side.

The original floating box wasn't too bad, the problem with it was it had to stay on the page which wasn't nice, as i was trying to move it out of the way of the bit i was trying to read.

Hicky

Evening.
Dry here but windy. We did get a bit of sun, but not much.

Not feeling as good today, so visit still in doubt. Not sleeping well again as well.
Just have to see how I feel tomorrow. Not going till the afternoon anyway.
It's a 2 hour drive Mollie, and it's going to be all my SiL's family there. They're staying a few hours including for lunch, but I think I'm the only one staying overnight.
It's usually just me there on Christmas Day, and she catches up with her family on Boxing Day, but they're doing it differently this year.

There's supposed to be more heavy rain and wind overnight tonight, so hope none of the rural roads I'm going to be on get flooded. Think I'll take my satnav, just in case I have to detour.

Mollie those carers are very generous, buying presents for your Mum. Wonder if they do it for all the people they look after?

Hicky. Glad your bacon was a success. I'm sure you'll work out which blade and what thickness is best.
Glad your builders were able to get on as well. And you got some more work done on the gazebo.

Yes, I sometimes have to take paracetomol in the night, if I wake up sweaty and overheated and can't get back to sleep. Luckily that's not very often, but happened last night.

Haven't had a chance to look at what's on the box tonight. Got plenty of recordings etc anyway.
I'll be recording Doctor Who and Downton on Xmas day. Not sure if we'll watch those at my Brother's? Don't think they watch Downton.

I'm not too bothered about the fixed posting box TBH. I find it's just as easy to scroll to look at previous posts. It's what you do on most other forums anyway.
But the floating one was OK as well.

Hicky...you posted the same time as me...

that is good that you enjoyed your bacon. Arthtritis is a damn nuisance, good job it doesn't bother you too often at night now you have had your ops though. Lucky the weather was ok for the builders and for you to do a bit more on the platform.

Emptybox

I am sorry to hear you are still feeling unwell. Good job you aren't due to go until the afternoon, so you can review how you feel. Even 2 hours is a fair drive if you don't feel well and weather is bad. You are probably feeling stressed about the visit, especially the drive and the fact visitors who aren't normally there are going to be this year. Hopefuly you are the only one staying overnight.  I get uptight if I have to make conversation with people I don't know really well, or if I am with a lot of people. (even though I live in a family of 5, but all my family are quite reserved).  Yes always best to take your satnav, with all this damn rain, you never know when a detour might be needed. Hope you feel a bit better by tomorrow though, then you won't have so much to worry about.

I don't think the carers buy all of their clients a pressie, as some have 16 different calls a day, but I think it is the ones who have known mum awhile now so have got fond of her, and also the fact her needs are so complex. But considering their wages are so poor, I think it is really kind of them.

We have dug out the kareoke game for Christmas.

I haven't started singing yet, was just looking over the tracks we have bought, expect we will start the singing tomorrow. Good job this house is detached, else my neighbours would't like the row of my singing.

Advent day 23 is here...and it's a snowman piccie, as there is certainly no sign of snow here this year.

M

Morning all.
Very stormy and heavy rain overnight, but not too bad weather at the moment.

Had a good night, and feel OK this morning, so I will go across to my Brother's, and keep my fingers crossed that I don't feel too bad while I'm there.
Got all my medication with me anyway, so I'll be no worse off over there really.

I'll be able to post  while I'm there, so I'll just keep in touch as usual.
Yes, I'm not good at talking to people I don't know. In fact I'm not very good at talking to people I do know.  But I'm not as bad now as I was when I was younger.
But I'm still not the life and soul, by any means.

Enjoy your karaoke singing Mollie.
(kinda glad we can't hear it on here )

so pleased to hear you feel well enough to go to your brother's. Hope you have a good journey and the weather calms down. And hope you have a great time there too. Good job this time you go away, you still have internet acess. My family too are not good conversationilists, but hopefully if there are a lot of people around, it will be so noisy, that they won't even notice if don't have a lot to say!

Hicky

wonder if you have managed to get in the garden at all?

We took dog a walk, sunny when we left then a huge downpour! Had to bath and hair dry the dog when we got home, and get ourselves changed.

Advent day 24 and it is Christmas Eve one...

Evening Both.

Using split screen again, not a bad day really, pretty cold but dry and sunny most of the day.

O/H got the shopping, i said don't get much as we have loads in, anyway, she gets double of everything and we only have to go a few days.

Managed to get it all in the fridge and freezer though.

Just read you feel a bit better so you will probably go, have a good journey anyway.

Emptybox, Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well again, if your not going to be well you don't really want to be away.

My baby fig tree is still growing in the shed so i'll just leave it for now.

The only plants i need to buy for spring now are cucumber and tomato.

O/H is cooking the meats for tomorrow, starting with 2.5kg of Sirloin, then 4kg of Ham, think she will do the Turkey tomorrow.

The fridge/freezer must have enough to last us many weeks.

I love watching Storage Hunters, i have dozens recorded but watch them normal as well, usually on Dave.

Mollie, I think it's Arthritis, not sure about what else it is.

Nice of the Carers to think of your mum that way, as you say, they must have lots to look after really.

As you say, good job your place is detatched, mind you it's not every day is it?

Like the Snowman advent pic we won't have snow here tomorrow.

That Christmas eve advent pic is nice, Santa on his way.

All the best for tomorrow anyway, have a great time and i'll see you all tomorrow night.

Hicky

Evening guys.
At my Brother's now.

Not too bad journey. a lot of surface water, but no floods as yet.
Just had a lovely meal of baked ham.

Pity your sunny dog walk was interrupted by rain Mollie.
I like your snoopy advent pic.

Hi Hicky. Sounds like you're doubly sorted for food anyway.
We were watching a bit of an old episode of Storage Hunters tonight. It was only on for about 5 minutes though before the channel was changed (SiL's a channel hopper )

I'm hoping that I get a bit of sleep while I'm here. Having more alcohol than usual may or may not help (it's an experiment worth doing )
Not feeling bad so far anyway.

All the best for tomorrow, and I'll post at some point during the day.

Good Evening All.

A bit of a wet day here so no gardening.

We cooked the meats last night, i was very surprised when O/H suggested i use the slicer machine to cut the meats, i was delighted, set it to 5mm which was fine, did the beef then the Gamon, we had loads, she cut the turkey by hand.

We took it over to my lads, took the gravy as well, their was loads.

Had a great meal, the lads opened all their pressies, wow, so many.

Emptybox, Glad you made it ok to your Bro's, we have our own TV's here so don't have channel hoppers.

Hope the drink experiment works, worth a try.

Happy Christmas EL Toro, hope you have a great time.

Happy Christmas to Mollie, hope you are enjoying your day.

Hicky

Emptybox

glad you made it ok to your brothers, and the journey was not too bad, and also it is good that you are being well fed. Don't think you have missed much on tv even if you have a channel hopper. Hopefully you got to see Mrs Brown's Boys though. That was what I enjoyed watching. Hope you do get enough sleep whilst away.

Hicky

Glad to hear you have a good day at your lads, with plenty of pressies and a good meal. Sounds like your OH is going to make good use of your slicer.

Hope you El Loro had a good day

We looked after mum a lot of the day , but was able to eat our meal after the carers took over. My daughter made it, she did real well, considering she also made the cranberry and apple sauce herself and even yorkshire puds and a big choice of fresh veggies with turkey and pigs in blankets for 5 people. It was delcious.

We did go to see the Christmas swim, but left mum in her flat and the dog at home. Brilliant costumes again. Here is an example...

Goodnight all xxx

M

Evening.
Cold and drizzly here, but I was only outside to take the dog a wee walk in the morning.

Glad you got to play with your meat slicer Hicky, and had a good time at your lad's.

Well done to your daughter on making the meal Mollie.
We had a lovely meal here, cooked by my Brother, and the company was OK too.
Didn't get to see Mrs Brown's Boys or Downton or anything like that. Just channel hopped round the minor channels. We did watch a fair chunk of the Bond film on More 4 or something like that.

Glad you got to see the traditional swim. Are those three dressed as tubes of toothpaste or something?
If you took that photo, I hope you got out of the way quick, and didn't get trampled in the stampede?
(I know you didn't take it really )

Evening Both.

A quiet day today, so much food to get through, weather not bad, dry and cloudy but windy.

Still eating beef gammon and turkey with salad, will finish all the meats off tomorrow.

Got loads of fruit, cakes, biscuits, would last a month i think.

Mollie, Your daughter did well cooking all that food for you all, well done to her.

They must be mad going for a swim in the winter, but they are so daring.

Emptybox, Can't remember if your back home, but by the text it sounds as though you are still there, your brother cooked the meal, that was nice, TV always a problem if you are away from home.

I didn't get up till 10:30 this morning, had a lovely lay in, only woke once in the night, mind you i was late going to bed.

Hicky

Emptybox

Glad you enjoyed the meal cooked by your brother and the company too. Pity about lack of your fave tv shows, but I guess you can make up for that when you get home. Hope your health is holding up ok and you are relaxing nicely. The photo is showing poeple dressed as Cryona crayons. Yes indeed, no way would I of taken a photo like that as you would of had to stand in a cold sea to take it. Is it tomoorrow you leave for home?

Hicky

Nice for you to have a quiet day and a lie in after Christmas day. We too had a quieter day as the carers had mum for the day, so we didn't need to drive over there. Lucky the weather was fine here today, so we took dog a walk in a country park and we had a little ride on a miniature steam railway, very nice.

OH's family's roads around his village are flooded, so their Christmas visitors are stuck there. REally bad up where we drove last week, lucky my OH's family's house is up a bit of a hill. Those poor people with flooded houses, must be awful for them. Why on earth did this stupid government cut back 8% on flood defence, it is now going to cost a whole lot more than those idiots saved!

Goodnight both xx

M

Hi guys.
Terribly wet day here. Rain all day, so again I'll have to worry about flooding on my journey home tomorrow.

Didn't do much today apart from going round the shops in a mall in East Kilbride. I didn't buy anything myself, but was good to get out and about.

Glad you got a long lie Hicky, and have plenty of supplies to sustain you.
Got a good night's sleep myself last night. Haven't had many symptoms since I've been here, thank goodness.

Hi Mollie. Glad the carers were on duty so you could visit the country park.
There's quite a lot of flooding round here as well. I'm hoping it's subsided by tomorrow afternoon, when I'm supposed to be on the road.

Watched another Bond film tonight.

emptybox

Emptybox

hope your journey home goes well tomorrow and that there is no floods enroute. Could you check online perhaps, before you leave?  So pleased to hear you have been feeling better. I am wondering if you were getting nerves about going and that aggravated it, and now you are unwinding and being looked after, things have improved for you?   But whatever I hope your better health continues.

hope Hicky had a good day and got out in his garden.

Looked after mum this afternoon. Then got home to a nice party buffet daughter had made. Managed to fit a walk in down the seafront with doggie as well as rain eased.

Goodnight both, going to play kareoke now. xx

M

Evening Both.

A quiet day again, just eating Christmas food again, got so much

Weather was ok only 10C though not so warm, had another Christmas dinner, thats 3 now.

Getting fed up of chocolates and cake, fridge and freezer still full.

Mollie, Bad news about your O/H's family village, so many people are flooded out this month it's dreadful.

I think the flood defences wouldn't have been enough, i've seen rivers going over bridges instead of under, just too much rain, you need wider deeper rivers, as simple as that, but how, it's a massive job.

That was nice having your daughter make a party buffet, thats a lot of work.

Emptybox, Glad you have had many symptoms, thats good, and getting a good nights sleep helps, not so easy in a strange bed.

Hope you didn't encounter too much flooding coming home, trust you to go shoping and buy nothing, love it.

Hicky

Hi Mollie.
Back home now. It was today I was coming back.

Nice sunny dry calm day, so ideal for driving.
There was still a lot of surface water though, and on the middle part of the journey there was a lot of snow on the side of the road, so looks like some people had a white Christmas anyway. No snow at my Brother's or at home though.

That's great of your daughter, producing a buffet for you while you looked after your Mum. Glad you got a seaside walk as well.

Not sure why I usually feel better when I'm at my Brother's?
My theory is that my Brother's house is modern and well insulated, and has a much more constant temperature than mine, which is old, badly insulated, and gets very cold when the heating isn't on, then sometimes too warm when the heating is on (and the electric blanket). Plus it's slightly damp as well.
Just have to see if my symptoms return now I'm home?

Treated myself to some of my smoked salmon as a starter tonight. Then I had roast chicken, roast potatoes, sugar snap peas and gravy. And a nice beer.
Well...it is still the holidays.

I wonder if Hicky is still trying to polish off all the meat he cooked?
ETA: Oh hi Hicky, you just popped up to answer that. Glad you're manfully ploughing through all the grub.

Watched 'Million Pound Motors', 'Walking the Himalayas' then 'Gorilla Family and Me', now the U2 concert. And I'm going to try to fit in my Doctor Who recording before bed.

glad you had a good journey home. Surprised that some places had snow, as it has been so unseasonally mild here, more like April than December. That is very interesting that the cold and damp might be affecting your condition. Might be worth thinking of a move to a damp free and well insulated more modern place if so? Bear in mind though that your neighbours are in much more close proximity in a modern place, and we find the parking a nightmare in modern estates. They park on the pavements round here. And, my friend who moved to a modern house because of the same reasons as yours, (damp/cold reasons), has found that noise does carry from next door as the walls are thin. But she doesn't regret it, as it is warmer and easier for her OH to maintain. But she made sure she had a garage and extra parking space with the place she got.

That is nice you enjoyed your special meal when you got home.

My daughter is using the turkey by making turkey curry tonight, as everyone fed up of turkey sandwiches now.

Hicky

sounds like us, you still have a fari amount of food to get through.

3 Christmas dinners, you are doing well. But it doesn't matter as a traditional Christmas dinner is good for you, with all the veg and protein from the turkey.

Managed to get a private carer in for mum for a few hours today, so only had her for a coupld of hours this morning. Gave OH and I chance to go for a nice brekkie out together in the garden centre.

So it will also be nice to have some free time to unwind this afternoon with the family and eat a bit more of the Christmas food.

Have a good day both xxx

M

Evening Both.

A rather nothing day, dry, cold, cloudy, had a quick walk around the garden.

Still eating left over food, got so much, going to take it easy on the sweets/chocs.

Waterworks being really good, so happy with all the ops, it's a miracle to me.

Emptybox, Glad you got home ok, at least the snow wasn't on the roads.

Your symptoms could be aggravated by the not too good constant temperatures at home, the temperature in the house must not go below 18C so you need to get a thermostat that can control the minimum temperature, the day temperature should really be about 20C at least.

Mine seems ok with the settings i am using, i could have it warmer in the day but it costs more of course.

That sounded like a good meal you had at home, i had brekkie as O/H was at her mums, when she came home 1.30 ish she wanted to go for lunch at the local place, i didn't like to refuse, so i had steak pie and mash.

Mollie, Your daughter making a turkey curry, i used to do that when we had all the lads here, now i just use lamb or beef for the curry.

The beef was Sirloin and when cut with my slicer it made an awful lot of pieces, i cut it 5mm thick with it being such good steak otherwise i would have had to cut it thinner.

Glad you got a carer for your mum which gave you some spare time to go for a brekkie, that was nice.

Hicky

Evening.
Dry here, but cloudy and dull.
Didn't do much, but went to the supermarket.

Not sure my finances would allow a move to a modern house, and I don't own the central heating, so can't really modify it to work with a thermostat, but I might consider having the heating on for more hours a day, while the price of oil is relatively low.

Glad you got some free time Mollie to go for brekkie out and have some family time.
Hope you enjoyed your turkey curry.

Hi Hicky. Glad you enjoyed your bonus pie and mash lunch.
I'm sure you'll get the better of all the left-over food soon.
Great that your waterworks are behaving themselves now.

I think the snow must have been on Christmas night into Boxing day. There wasn't much left in the fields, but there were those big chunks of snow at the side of the road that are left after the snowplough has gone through. So there must have been quite a lot.
Certainly the temp was down to 2 or 3 degrees that night.

Watched The World's Most Expensive Food then Gogglebox.
Not much on TV for a holiday night really.

emptybox

Hi both.
Very stormy and rainy again. Have just stayed indoors.

Haven't done much today except download the new Adele album.
Google Play were offering an album download at half price, so I chose that one.

Been feeling OK these last few days, so at least coming home hasn't brought on symptoms.

Again not a lot on telly. It'll probably be Ben Fogle then 'It'll be Alright on the Night'.
Still haven't watched the Christmas Downton yet, so I might do that tonight.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

My last post seems to have gone before yours some how.

Pretty damp all day, drizzle mainly, didn't do anything really.

I don't download music, O/H might do, she likes her music.

Glad your feeling ok since you got back home.

I might watch Ben later if nothing else on.

Only a few days to CBB now anyway, once we get over New Year.

Still got loads of food to eat

Strange, i'm spending less and less on the garden, have almost got all i need, have fitted the lovely Thermometer O/H's sister bought me, it's lovely, very fancy, metal coated and it stands off, it's about 14" tall, like this.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garden...0RZRYNKF98EX2KJ5PF16

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Pity you lost a post. I was wondering where everyone had got to?

There seems to be a lot of flooding around again.
I see the roads around Peebles are flooded, and I had to come through there coming home on Sunday.

That looks like an interesting thermometer.
I don't download all that much music, still buy quite a few CDs, then rip them to the computer.

Didn't watch Ben Fogle in the end; turned out to be a repeat of a repeat.
Watched Mary Portas instead

emptybox

both

Hicky

what a nice looking thermometer, you will be able to keep us up to date with the nice hot temperatures we will hopefully getting this summer.

So nice that we have CBB to look forward to in a few days.  Hope you are enjoying ploughing through all that left over Christmas food.

Emptybox

Hope the better health continues, sounds like your Christmas break with your brother did you good. Yes good idea to keep your house nice and warm now the oil is cheaper, and that way it saves you the hastle and cost of moving. Good job you have come home before the flooding reached the route you take. We also closely missed it when we went away. That is the trouble with tv right now, a lot of repeats. But I did enjoy watching "Alight on the night", very funny.

The weather was awful when we took mum home tonight, but at least the roads weren't flooded, even though they were very wet.

Last day of 2015 tommorrow then.

Goodnight both xx

M

both

Hope you are both having a pleasant last day of 2015.

Weather mixed here, quite bright one minute, then rain chucking down later. Earlier today, we thought the bunny had knocked over his water bowl as his cage was very wet on the floor, then realised there was a drip coming in from the ceiling. Can't work out what it is, think it is coming from the bath, but strange no one had had a bath. Will have to call someone out after the hols, as it did ease when rain stopped. OH has moved bunny's cage out of the way, and put a bowl to catch the drip.

Hope you are still feeling well Emptybox, and hope Hicky is either enjoying his garden, or enjoying finishing eating his Christmas food. (or both!),

We don't usually go out New years Eve since Cardiff stopped the early family firework dispays, but family fancied going out this year, especially as looking after mum had taken so much time this holiday. So I got some tickets to see the pretend Elvis night in the family pub just on the seafront down the road from mum's flat. So we are going there tonight. There are supposed to be 3 different Elvis's and a meal included, so I am hoping the family enjoy it.

Have a good New Years Eve both, and see you next year in 2016. xx

M

Hi Mollie.
Yes a similar day here, with some rain and some sunshine.
Not particularly cold, but I hear there is some snow forecast for later.

Hope the drip doesn't cause too many problems for you.
Probably not too urgent if it comes and goes with the rain. But obviously needs to be fixed if it's in the main part of the house.
Just make sure it's not a pipe in the bathroom, or the cold water tank (if you have one).
I get a drip in my downstairs loo when it rains, but that's in the back kitchen/annex, so I'm not too worried about it (leaky flat roof).

Hope you enjoy your fake Elvis night out.
Just staying in myself, although I'll see in the New Year with a wee drinkie.
Always get a phone call from my Brother just after the bells.

Just the usual fare on TV by the look of it.
I usually watch the BBC Scotland Hogmanay show until after midnight, then turn over to Jools Holland om BBC2.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A cooler day here, 7C had sun this morning then some rain moved in.

Just put my 2nd 1/2 kg piece of bacon through the slicer, it's better than the stuff you buy.

Will get another kg of belly pork to make a kg of smoked.

Enjoy your Elvis's Mollie, and meal, can't be bad, we don't go out New Years eve, past all that it seems.

Thats strange having water coming through from the bathroom, how can that be getting in from outside? of course it it does stop when the rain stops then at least you know it's not a leak, but it can still be hard to trace.

Not sure what to watch tonight Emptybox, another Ben is on but later i'll watch the fireworks.

I see a massive fire in Dubai in the Address Hotel by a firework display.

Hicky

Happy New Year Everyone.

A cool day here, only 5C

Went out for brekkie, very nice, bought some refills for the apple and plum moth traps for spring, got some seeds as well, toms, more spring onions and cucumbers.

One of my shed heaters has stopped doing what it should, the stat seems to have packed up, have ordered a new heater but put this one on a timed schedule to keep the shed from getting too cold.

Just had a lovely Ribeye steak with baked spud, onion and mushroom.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year for 2016
Hicky

Wishing you both a prosperous and

Emptybox

that is nice that your brother rings you every New Year. Hope you enjoyed your tv and little drink last night.

Hicky

sounds like you are enjoying your own bacon. And a good start to the New Year by going out for a brekkie.  Shame your shed heater gave up the ghost.

Well that drip ended up meaning our heating and water went off last night, as it dripped onto the heating's electronic timer below it. Meaning poor son even had to shower and wash his hair in cold water. I was glad we were out last night, as this house gets very cold very quickly, and last night was a cold night. Luckily the LL got the plumber out this morning, who then called out the electrician as well (we have an excellent LL for the first time ever, he is a professional with lots of properties). They were here for ages, but together they bodged it so we could at least have heating, and are coming back Monday to finish job. The timer isn't working though.

We did enjoy our night out, especially as our house was so cold, but the Elvis's were pretty boring, especially after awhile, and them singing some of the same songs. (there were 3 Elvis's). But we liked the balloons, crackers, poppers on the tables.
I slept with my onesie and a big vest, 2 quilts, and a dressing gown and hot water bottle and was still freezing.  The only one who had a bit of warmth was bunny Fudge, he had the small electric heater all night, as we were worried about leaving him with no warmth, now he is an elderly man. (bunny man, that is).

Nice and warm again tonight now though.

Goodnight both, not sure what to watch on tv tonight, count down to CBB now.

Hi guys.
Very cold and frosty here today. Dry though.

Didn't do much. Watched some films on the telly.
One of them was The Golden Compass, which I hadn't seen before, but heard a lot about. It was supposed to be the first in a trilogy, but the other two were never made.

Glad you enjoyed your meals Hicky, and bought some bits and pieces.
Pity you have to replace the heater.

Pity the drip turned out to have more serious consequences Mollie. Your LL was lucky to get people out on New Year's Day.
Did they find the cause of the leak? Hope it all gets sorted on Monday.

Pity the fake Elvises were a bit of a disappointment (I didn't have high expectations of them TBH ), but glad you enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Watched Jamie & Jimmy, then Sherlock and then Mrs Brown's Boys.

Not a lot going on today, just trying to get through as much food as pos before it goes off.

Getting through the boxes of chocs though, got tons of nuts yet.

Timer seems to be working ok on the heater, got it on low heat and set it to 15 minutes every other housr, it was about 9C today.

Mollie, Bad news about the water problem, good of them to help to sort it for you.

That was bad about the Elvis show, were they just bad fakes or what?

Yes, getting excited for CBB now, just a couple of days now.

Emptybox, I've just been watching whatever i could fine, even watching animated stuff, also Murder Mysteries.

Hope you are keeping warm enough,.

Hi Hicky.
Wet here today so didn't get out much.

Glad the shed heater seems to be working on the timer.
I'm spoiling myself over the holidays by having the heating on sometimes during the day, when it gets cold. It's still mostly mild for the time of year though.

Good luck on getting through all your festive food.
I finished my Xmas choccies yesterday. Still got some Wensleydale cake my SiL gave me.It's just like a genoa fruit cake really.

Finally watched my recording of the Xmas Downton tonight. Very heart-warming.

I think it is a good idea to keep the house warm, not good for you to get chillled. Good job you have worked your way through those Christmas recordings from when you were away, with CBB coming up soon. Yes Downtown was lovely this Christmas, no nasty shocks this time.   Enjoy the rest of your cake off SIL. Perhaps you could save a piece for launch night? That is my fave show of the series when we first see them, and don't know what sort of HM's they will be.

The drip ended up being from  an outside pipe still sticking out of the external wall from an old boiler that was removed. We had a real heavy rain shower, causing water to come in from it. The plumber did a temporary stuff it up job and comes back tomorrow to do it properly and replace the time clock that got wet.

Hicky

at you ploughing through all that food before it goes off. Good job your timer at least is working.

The Elvis's weren't that bad, but were by no means the best we have seen. They could ok enough, but with 3 of them singing some of the same songs, it did get rather repetitive. Still enjoyed ourselves though, as we had a meal too inclusive of the price, that was a lot cheaper than any of the hotels were doing, so can't complain.

Real tiring day today, but not a bad day. Family went to see Star Wars, and my friend asked me to meet her for coffee and go round shops with her. Wasn't sure whether to go or not as knew I had mum all afternoon. So it has been rush, rush, rush, but it was nice to look round some of the shops. But then had to rush to mum's flat where OH and son had to clean her carpets and do a bit of DIY there too, as the LL is having an inspection tomorrow. Think it is mainly something to do with electric safety thing though. But we wanted to make sure the flat looked good, carpets get grubby with some many carers coming and going.

Daughter cooked a nice tea for us all when we got back though.

Not much on tv again tonight.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Both.

A rather cool day here, wet as well.

Went out for brekkie, also had tea from the Takeaway delivery catering place.

Didn't do anything else really, was going to spray the trees to kill off the overwintering insects, will have to wait for a dry day with no wind.

Emptybox, I've still got quite a few chocs, lots of biscuits, crackers, fruit nuts, Yoghurt, cheeses, loads of tinned fruit and cream.

At least you got through your chocies, fruit cake doesn't usually go off.

Mollie, I can see you are very busy, so much to do, glad your family can help out some.

Only a day or so to CBB, hope you will be able to see some of it, or record some.

Evening both.
Drizzly day here. Only went out to the supermarket.

Had to do another repair to the felt roof on the garage, as the wind had started to tear it off again, but I got it nailed down again. It really needs re-felted, as more gales might just tear it off again.

Hope the plumbers get your work all sorted out tomorrow Mollie. Sounds like the pipe should have been removed previously.
You've had a busy day, but at least you got a catch-up and shop with your friend.

Yes, I always like launch night on BB.
It's usually all downhill from there.

Hicky, pity it was too wet to do your trees.
At least you enjoyed your meals out.

Watched 'War and Peace' tonight, then Mockingjay Part One on Netflix.
