Sending lots of best wishes for Hicky.

We will be thinking of you Hicky and looking forward to welcoming you back with your new hip.

What luck your last ordered item came before you left.

Emptybox

thanks for you hints about my new phone, I don't really understand what you say, but it looks useful. I'll get son to help me work through what you say though. Haven't had chance to even switch it on yet.

Sorry to hear EE have messed you up. That is so frustrating when you find out problems with something after you have bought it.   Yes, all you can do is keep on to them.

Nice day here today, hope it is for you too.

We had a nasty day here yesterday, daughter's toothache went real, real bad, Crying in agony, I got anti biotics for her off dentist and pain relief from chemist, none of which did any good at all. By evening I called off duty docs and nhs direct who sent us to A and E. They said her infection was so bad her face had swollen and gave her some morphine type tablets, some co-codemol and more strong antibiotics to take with the ones she had already. She didn't sleep for 2 nights and paced around in pain all day yesterday. This morning she has been sick, but it does seem to of eased a bit as she has had some brief sleeping time. Dentist appointment tomorrow pm. The dentist yesterday refused to give me pain relief, sent me to chemist, which they should not of done. I told them daughter does not exaggerate with pain, but don't think they believed how bad it was.

We got back from A and E around 1.30am, but they were really good with her, only there around a couple of hours, and they gave her pain relief as soon as we got there and saw nurse.

Luckily mum has been fine, and is at the day centre again.

thinking of Hicky now.

wonder when they do the op? sometimes they do them the next day.

Have a good day Emptybox.

xxx

M

Hi Mollie.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. Sounds like she has a really bad abscess.

Don't think the dentist can tackle it until the antibiotics have taken away the infection. Hope they've worked by tomorrow when she sees the dentist.

Phone still not fixed. I spoke to someone today that said they had technical problems, but it should be fixed soon.

Plus they hadn't even moved over my credit to the new account (I should have ÂĢ68 credit), so they might take a payment out of my bank account, which I wouldn't be happy about.

Lost all confidence in EE now.

Unfortunately they have the best coverage in my area, with 4G in the town and 3G within a couple of miles of me (only 2G at my house though). Vodafone are next with 3G in the town, but no 4G.

Unfortunately Tesco mobile (and Giffgaff) uses the O2 network which is very patchy round here and 2G only.

Sainsburys uses the Vodafone network, so that might be a contender, if I need an alternative sim, as I could pick one up at the supermarket.

Trouble is, it would almost certainly cost me to cancel the contract with EE, even though they've failed to provide the service they promised.

Yes Hicky will be ensconced at the hospital now. Might even already have had his op?

Rather him than me.

Although, come to think of it, I'd rather it was someone else entirely, and Hicky was still working away in his garden.

Would have to get TV on Hudl2.

you were quick there getting back on your food.

Good for you though, you deserved it after that op.

So pleased all went well, and you will be home soon.

Your garden awaits you and the spring sunshine, hopefully as soon as you are nicely healed.

That is good you have free wifi and can use your Hudl for tv.

gosh I don't blame you for getting annoyed if they do end up taking payment off  you if you should have ÂĢ68 there. And it is very unfair if they do charge for a service they don't provide. Shame you can't get the O2 by you. There are a few areas round here on the country lanes where I lose reception, but luckily not many.

Watched that GP show on C5 tonight , now watching A and E. Gosh you'd of thought I'd had enough medical stuff lately, after all these visits to A and E. Wonder if Hicky is watching it?  But I do like the nice family stories we see on this show.

Hope you are still feeling well. Are you sleeping ok now? Hopefully  Hicky will be able to again when he recovers from his op.

now that is really interesting seeing photos of the hospital where you are. Thank you for posting. It certainly looks nice and sunny in that ward. How are you though? I hope you are getting on ok. How is your walking coming along? Are you having physio? Did you take the photos on your Hudl? They are certainly very clear.

Emptybox

hope you are feeling well today.

Are you going to try and see the eclipse in the morning? If I can find it, I am going to try the colandar method as it looks straight forward.

Daughter still been in pain today, but it is gradually calming down. Took her to dentist who told her to keep on with meds, currently taking 24 tablets a day. Poor thing, no wonder she is feeling so rotten, and can't eat much. Dentist said to go back in a few weeks when meds have settled the abcess down, and she will either do root filling or take tooth out.

Middle son had to look after mum whilst we were at dentist, she kept trying to get out of her wheelchair and nearly falling, and told son to shut up when he told her to sit down. So son said he'd rather do any other jobs than look after his nan next time.

Have a good evening.

hope Hicky is enjoying the hospital food, it was very good when I was in.

Good Evening Both

I am fine Mollie, walked too much today so in a bit of pain.

Yes, taken on Hudl2.

Yes have physio now and again.

Supposed to walk a little every hour.

Sorry o hear daughter stil in pain, not nice at all.

Emptybox, cant see yior post now, got no mouse or Ctrl key so its a problem.

Food good, not sure when going home yet.

Will keep you informed.

Hicky

Evening.

Hi Hicky.

That looks quite a pleasant spacious ward.

Have they got you out of bed yet?

ETA: Just seen your post. Surprised they've got you walking already. I would have thought it would be very painful.

But I guess the sooner you get moving the better.

Hi Mollie.

That's a bit hard on your daughter, having to wait weeks before the dentist acts.

When I had an abscess years ago I'm sure I was only on antibiotics for a week or so, before they took the tooth out.

Yes I'd imagine your Mum would be a handful for your young son.

I'm not too bad at the moment.

Had a minor relapse this week. I think the stress of trying to deal with this phone thing brought on the symptoms. Not too bad though.

I know I shouldn't get het up about a silly thing like a phone contract, but I've a tendency to do that.

They say stress can be bad for the prostate.

TBH most people phone me on my work phone, and not many on this phone, but I'm not going to tell EE that. As far as they are concerned it's vital that people can get through to me on that number.

Started out very misty and wet here, but was very sunny (and actually quite warm) in the middle of the day. Got cloudy and cold as the afternoon wore on.

Got my tomato seedlings potted up.

Hi Hicky.

Hope the pain starts to ease soon, and you get more mobile.

Yes, I'm not surprised that a major op messes up your toilet routine.

Any word on when you get out? You don't want to rush things.

Did catch a glimpse of the eclipse. It was mostly cloudy here, but cleared enough for me to squint at it for a split second. It never got very dark, just the sky darkened as if it was about to rain, then brightened again.

Seen 'em before anyway.

Been on to EE again. Major technical difficulties. Hope to have it sorted in next few days. Blah blah blah.

Seemingly anyone who transferred in or out of EE between the 16th and 19th from Orange or T-mobile, were affected by the problems. What a farce.

At least they have now transferred my credit across, so they won't be taking any payments from my bank account.

Million Pound Drop then Bear Grylls then Gogglebox, I think tonight?

Making one of my stews/casseroles just now. Should make 5 portions, so I'll have one tonight with brocoli and sweet potato mash, then I'll freeze the rest.

emptybox

Hicky

sorry to hear you have been having water problems. Hope they ease, and you get back home tommorow. Hope the pain eases too. I take it the district nurse will be out to help you when you first get home? Has your OH been managing to get to visit you ok?

Emptybox

sorry to hear you have been feeling a bit off lately. As you say, it may be due to getting stressed over EE. That would wind me up too. Hopefully they will sort it ok for you though.

yes I too caught a brief glimpse of the eclipse, the weather was lovely, but I only saw it through a basic pin hole on paper. It went a bit darker here too. Hope you enjoyed your casserole.

Am going away for one night tomorrow to B'ham to visit my aunt and so son can go to his comic exhibition. Daughter is better than she was, but still unsure if she will make it with us. Hope she can.

so I will not be around for a little while.

have a good weekend both xxx

M

Hi Hicky.

Hope you got some sleep last night.

Have you been released into the wild yet, or are you still in captivity?

You'll need to take it easy for a while anyway. I imagine you are in quite a bit of pain yet?

Well the phone seems to be working properly at last. It only took them a full week to get my number working.

It still says my temporary number in the phone settings, but I can now receive and send calls and texts on my proper number, so that's all that matters.

Enjoyed the Voice, but was baffled by some of the public vote.

Can't believe more of team Tom didn't get through. Also I wanted Autumn and the guy with the big beard to get through.

At least Cerys and the classical girl got through.

Has turned much colder and windier here today.

Was in town yesterday, and went round a few places looking to see if they need their grass cut, but nowhere is desperate yet.

Hi Mollie.

Enjoy your visit home to Brum to see your Aunt.

Hope your daughter felt up to joining you.

I've learned that it's a stew if you make it in a pan on the hob, and it's a casserole if it's cooked in a dish in the oven, so mine are definitely casseroles. And it was delicious, if I say so myself.

Good Morning Both.:+)))))))))))))))

Wrote a message last night but forgot to post in, started sorting meds out.

Got all sorts now, twice what i had originally.

Came home yesterday afternoon, still got a few problems, wound was leaking a bit, still got catheter, district nurse will sort out next week.

Using 2 sticks, got a list of what i can't do, not a list of what i can do.

Just been to make a coffee in the kitchen, O/H at work till 9.30.

Got a few hours sleep last night O/H said, was up at 4am then 6am, staying in the same place in bed on your back is no fun, you get sore.

I'm not really in pain, more a constant dull ache, have to take a short walk every hour.

Glad daughter a bit better Mollie, enjoy B.Ham.

Glad your phone is working ok now.

Sun out now, very damp earlier, mist on car windows.

Hicky

Had an email from Gaga, couldn't get the money from the card to renew the vip subscription, auto renewal payments don't really work when you use cards, cards are always changing.

They only seem to have auto renewal, i don't want that, i would prefer manual renewal.

O/H just made a great Lamb Roast dinner, yummy.

Got no pain

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad you've got no pain, but it must be uncomfortable with a catheter.

Having to take all these meds must be a nuisance.

Good that you caught a few hours of sleep despite the annoyance of not being able to move much in bed.

Things can only get better as you get more mobile.

Not bad here today. Still cold but quite a bit of sunshine.

Watching some of this stuff about Richard III. Bit daft some wandering about in suits of armour?

Poldark again tonight.

emptybox

Good Afternoon Both.

Got a bit of sleep last night.

O/H bought me some tins of Coconut milk, can make som curries now.

Weather is OK, got the gardener coming to see me later, also got the fence man/garden centre owner coming, i'm going to get a price for erecting my garden stuff.

Yes Emptybox, the catheter is more of a problem than the Hip, strange isn't it.

Waiting for District Nurse as well, some dressings etc have been delivered, big box.

I didn't watch the reburial, not interested.

Like that eclipse, doesn't effect me does it?

Just thought on, watch this feller slow cooking a piece of Brisket, wow, so easy and how tasty.

Nurse has been, showed me what to do with the new bags.

Had some visitors at same time, gardener levelling ground.

Will try and get him tomorrow.

Fence man said he has some spare time at the weekend, need to get the raised beds built as well, so we can get the loam and manure brought in.

Hope Mollie isn't too worn out.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad the nurse's visit helped you.

It's good that you're keen to get on with the garden, but just remember not to try to run before you can walk, so to speak.

Had a quick look at that video. Can't see myself trying to handle a huge bit of brisket like that. But he seemed to know what he was doing.

They haven't reburied Dickie 3 yet. He's lying in Leicester Cathedral until Thursday. Probably glad of the new surroundings, after lying under a car park for 500 years.

(obviously it wasn't a car park all that time. They didn't have cars back then )

emptybox

Good Morning Both.

The visit was great wasn't it?, to know that much about a whole Brisket, i cook a lot of Brisket so how to use it would be very helpful.

Am going to make a Lamb Rendang later.

Boss just rang, he has a little job for me.

Print out the Binary bit pattern for decimal numbers 1 to 76 so he can build 76 plates with bolts and holes to detect which number a trolley is.

We just read with 18mm sensors.

Hicky

glad to hear the nurse is coming out to help you. Hope it won't be too long now until you are getting around well and can sleep through the night. Any idea when the catheter goes? I had one of those when in hospital, so know what a nuisance they are. How nice the boss has sent you some work, handy whilst you are unable to do much round the house or in the garden. And I am sure you will manage to easily spend the resultant payment.

Emptybox

pity no one is ready to have the grass cut yet, I guess the usual will happen and they will all want their grass cut at the same time, and you will be running around in circles. How are you health wise now? Hope the herb thing is helping you. Glad to hear your phone is at last working now. Missed the voice but glad to hear the opera girl got through, nice to have something a bit different for a change, and good Karis got through, she is our local girl.

Cold here today and hailing on and off, then bright again.

Our a night in B'ham that was on/off right till the last minute with daughter being unwell and trying to sort care for mum.But we did make it, even though we left quite late, because the district nurse decided to ring me and ask to visit mum that same afternoon! Luckily I managed to ring and check with a carer if she minded sorting the nurse out. It is the first time the nurse has visited her and we have waited for ages for it, so couldn't change it. Carer had to help fill in a 9 page form for mum to be approved for a hospital bed, but thankfully heard today, it has been approved, so should be easier for carers and she won't be able to roll out , or get up and fall.
We managed to quickly visit mum's 2 sisters in B'ham though, and the next day the kids went to an expo, (comic/games on), then back home that same day. So that was a nice change. Had a nice swim in the hotel pool too.

Today is the first day in over a week daughters' tooth pain has eased, no painkillers either, thank goodness. She finished her one set of anti biotics yesterday, and finishes the strong ones on Wednesday. But at least they have done the trick. Dentist on Monday for either root filling or extraction, poor thing.

Have a good day both xxx

M

Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Cold here today with a very heavy hail storm, but some sunny intervals as well.

Glad your Birmingham visit went well Mollie, even if it was last minute.

Pity you had to miss the nurse's visit, but good news that your Mum can get a hospital bed at home.

Good to hear your daughter hasn't got tooth pain anymore, but quite an ordeal in store on Monday.

Feeling fine at the moment. Seem to be getting on OK with the prescription tablet plus the herbal one (saw palmetto).

I'd like to give up the prescription one, but might wait till after my consultant's visit in May?

Not bothered that the grass didn't need cut as I've still got some tidying up jobs to do. But I'll probably have to start the grass sometime next week anyway as I would think quite a few will want it cut before Easter.

Oh is that Welsh girl called Karis? Had it in my head that it was Cerys for some reason. She's good anyway.

Hi Hicky.

Hope you enjoyed the lamb rendang?

Nice of the boss to give you some work.

Just as long as he knows you've retired.

emptybox

Morning Both.

Slept a bit better last night.

Very frosty here this morning,

Yes, Mollie, the catheter sure is a problem, just so uncomfortable, have to keep moving it around,

Done what the boss wanted, just got to email it to him.

Glad they will get your daughter sorted, glad anti-bio's worked.

Glad your getting on ok with the meds Emptybox,

I need some grass cuttings for my compost heap, don't want weed killer in it though.

That Lamb Rendang was fantastic, had half, froze the rest.

A beautiful day today.

Done the work for the boss, will have to ring him.

Hicky

Emptybox

so pleased to hear you are doing fine, yes good idea to carry on what you are doing now as it appears to be working. (and see what the consultant says in May). Glad to hear you still have some jobs to do and aren't dependent on grass cutting yet. I only know the Welsh girl is called Karis because I didn't know her name at all, and matched her with her name with her photo online.

Hicky

glad to hear you slept a bit better last night. I hope the catheter will be out before long. Good to hear you are enjoying your food. You need it post op to help fix yourself. How is the walking going now?

My birthday today, so went with OH and kiddies for a meal. I had a sweet potato curry.  Poor mum couldn't come this time as she has gone downhill again, but this afternoon me and the lovely carer managed to wheel her in her wheelchair through the park and down the seafront, where we had an ice cream. The carer spoon fed mum and she ate about a third of it. The carer agrees with me to keep her out of hospital as long as we can cope as she is not likely to come out if she goes in. The mental health nurse told me to do this too, as they have to drip feed them once they go in if they can't eat.  The day centre also took mum out, so I am glad she is still getting out in the sunshine.

I had a nice new bag with shiny pink butterflies on it and 2 bracelets and a Marion Keyes book, an Irish writer who lives very close to where we used to live south of Dublin.

Goodnight both x

M

Evening Mollie.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLIE, forgot it.

Had a lie down this afternoon as leg tends to swell up.

Made some ham and mustard sandwiches earlier, on fresh bread, yummy.

O\H bought some more clothes for while i am laid up.

Thin long loose pants with tie string fastening.

Easy to slip off and on.

Also some loose tops.

My leg is doing well, can see bruising now, nurse will change dressing Thursday and see how it is.

Have to keep these white stockings  on for 35 days or so.

Lucky to have no pain really, it's like a miracle.

I can seeme being as good as i was years ago.

Not sure about my knee, haven't noticed it since the Op.

Glad your mum was able to get out

Hicky

Happy Birthday Mollie.

Sounds like you got some nice things, and glad you enjoyed your meal.

Think I've heard of that writer, and heard her being interviewed on TV/radio at some time?

Pity your Mum is going downhill, but I think you can be content in knowing that you've done all you can to keep her out of hospital for so long.

Hi Hicky. Glad you've got no pain in your hip.

Yes I can imagine that the catheter is very uncomfortable.

I think they only put it in so you don't have to keep getting up to go to the loo in the first stages of your recovery.

Don't worry. I'm sure you'll soon be up gambolling around, as frisky as a new born lamb.

Day not too bad here. A bit cloudy, but with some sun.

I hear there's some snow forecast for here tomorrow though. Well according to the TV forecast.

Got out working this afternoon. Just a tidying up job.

Good Afternoon Emptybox.

Very frosty here this morning, pair of nurses not arrived yet.

Not warm enough to do anything outside.

Gardener came but he has some work he can do next door.

Going to have a Ribeye steak for tea, O/H bought some new mushrooms.

Yep, it's to stop having to keep going to the loo, mainly at night.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Well no frost here, and no snow either, but it was wet this morning.

Sunnier this afternoon, but very very windy.

Hope your nurses turned up OK?

Pity it was too cold for work in the garden.

Rib-eye steak sounds good.

I had chicken kiev and chips.

Watched Richard III getting buried again.

Couldn't bring myself to watch the debate between David Cameron and Ed Milliband, so watched the thing on Calories on BBC1 instead.

emptybox

both xx

Hicky

so pleased to hear the pain is eased and you feel like you used to years ago. It will be great for you to be able to do so much more again without pain. Any idea when the catheter goes? Does the nurse come daily?

Emptybox

so Richard is finally buried then, that did seem to take some time.

I saw the beginning of the debate which was the best part, I think Cameron was not prepared well at the beginning and got flustered when asked about zero hours and food banks going up. Got bored later and turned over to watch a programme on bbc2 like "Tales of the Unexpected". Quite funny although a bit dark.

Had a nice afternoon in Cardiff, got some bargains from Primark, Got a coat for ÂĢ3, down from ÂĢ16, and some trousers for ÂĢ3, and a gold/black top for ÂĢ5. Plenty of reductions today.

Watching Gogglebox, still love this show.

Carers looked after mum tonight, I need a night off now and again as it is such hard work, she can't stand up on her own now. She needs 2 carers to get her up and put her to bed now. We have a hospital bed arriving on Tuesday, so that should make it easier for the carers.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi Mollie.

Glad the carers could give you a night off.

More bargain hunting I see?

Main reason for not watching the debate is that I don't like Jeremy Paxman.

I think he regards himself as more important than the politicians he's interviewing.

In some cases it's maybe true.

Went into town to renew my prescription and do a bit of shopping.

Too cold and drizzly today to work.

Still watch Gogglebox, but I feel it's run it's course really. Their reactions are too predictable now. Some funny bits though.

emptybox

Morning Both.:+)

Have been resting a lot to save water collecting on my legs.

Been wondering why so much water collected overnight while in bed.

It collects while standing during the day.

Meds changed now as some stopped 5 days after leaving hospital.

Nurse didn't turn up Thursday, seems they are coming next Monday to change dressing.

Hip doing well, leg moving easier.

Takes a n awful lot of healing, thats the problem.

Mollie, thats bad news mum can't stand now, it makes it so much harder for you  all.

The new bed should make life easier.

glad you got a day of looking after mum, such a strain on you.

That was handy getting some bargains from Primark.

Yes Emptybox, not keen on Paxman, just trying to make a name for himself.

I don't listen to them anyway.

And Labour are on a different planet.

We are still getting out of their last mess.

All they do is borrow money, if they win we are doomed, and their leader is about the worst the country has ever had, even his followers don't want him.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

That fluid build up sounds nasty. Hope it's just a temporary thing.

That's the thing about operations. Over in a short time, but takes ages to recover from them.

Slow and steady progress, I guess?

Wet and windy here today. Not much doing outside.

Disappointed that Sheena and Karis didn't get through on The Voice.

Watched 'Coalition'. Not sure how accurate a portrayal it was?

Remember to put your clocks forward.

Morning Both.

Watched F1 this morning.

Didn't sleep much last night, probably with sleeping during the day.

I used to be on water tablets but the doc stopped them some time ago.

I have kept the swelling from my legs by resting during the day.

Everywhere is wet here, not what i want.

Every day is an improvement with the hip, i can sleep on my good side and even tried on my front.

Just getting a small belly pork ready for a roast later.

I can lie in bed and watch / control the tv so life not too bad.

Not been wearing outside clothes as it's too much messing.

Just wearing loose elasticated clothes for now.

Enjoyed the Voice, i would only have put girls through anyway.

Hicky

 both

Hicky

glad to hear every day things get better hip wise. Hopefully the swelling will gradually go down as you rest with your feet up and recover from the op. Don't forget to rotate your ankles round and round and up and down whilst sitting or lying. I was told to do that post op to help swelling in legs go down.

Emptybox

been very windy here too, and rather damp.

shame Karis didn't get through then, I didn't have time to watch The Voice, as me and OH went to see Alan Carr last night as he was on at local theatre near where mum lives, so we were able to take her to bed then go straight there. He was really good, so quick, so witty.  All tickets were sold out.

We went for a nosy in the back garden of house we hope to buy yesterday and we got caught sneaking round the back when a van pulled on drive, it ended up being owners son.   He was real nice though, works in London now. He came to shift some stuff for his parents. OH helped him load it in van. He said he lived there from age 3 to 6 and loved it there, but moved for dad;s work abroad, then it was rented till now. The solicitors are doing the searches now, so hope it is ok.

Couldn't find anything to watch on tv after getting home from mum's.

Taking poor daughter to dentist to sort this nasty tooth out now, fortunately the anti biotics did their job and it is no longer painful, but I expect it will be by the time she gets back from dentist. Not sure if she will root fill or extract, depends what it looks like tomorrow dentist said.

Goodnight both xx

M

Evening Hicky and Mollie.

A bit damp here, but at least the wind was a bit calmer today.

Hi Hicky.

You can't be so bad if you can lie in bed watching the telly.

Glad the hip is slowly improving.

Pity about the difficulty sleeping though.

Hi Mollie. Glad you enjoyed Alan Carr. I sometimes like him, but don't really like his Chatty Man show. All that faffing about with drinks etc.

Fancy getting caught snooping.

That's taking a long time to get all the details sorted on that house?

Bet you and your daughter are hoping the dentist can fill that tooth rather than taking it out? Unless it's a pesky wisdom one?

Not much to watch tonight, apart from Poldark.
