Evening Mollie.

Yes, at the bottom of the garden is a Junior School, i say Junior, they only seem about 6 years old some of them.

The playing field doesn't seem to get used.

We went for brekkie in Hoylake, opposite the pie shop is a lovely little food place and they do a super brekkie.

The Fence man came and finished thise first section, it's 15 fence panels, the next section is another 10 panels.

He's coming a week Tuesday, he has to make the panels.

I don't blame your brother giving up motorbikes, they are deadly, you would have to be insane to ride one these days.

In fact Motorcyclists must be costing the NHS a small fortune.

Shame about your lad and his drama club production, so disappointing for him missing out.

I went and looked at your picture but i didn't recognise him at all.

Watched the Voice

I mentioned about Manure for my Raised beds to the Fence man, he said you can have as much as you want free, just tell me when to deliver a wagon load.

Wow, one problem solved.

Hicky

how handy you can get that manure for free.

That is good your fence is coming on so nicely now.

I think that is nice to have the littlie kiddies school at the bottom of the garden, you will at least know what time of day it is when you hear them come out to play. And you will know it is summer when you don't hear them at all. I like to hear the school children outside playing at break time.

So you could have your brekkie at that place in Hoylake, then cross over later for a pie for lunch. (if you were greedy, that is).

Thought you might not recognise the fella in my photo, but I think you would know his ex wife.

As I said to Emptybox in the blue bikini, she reminds me a bit of his Ais. Very attractive, isn't she?

see her photos here.

Enjoyed the Voice tonight and then Ant and Dec.

Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Very frosty this morning, but a bright sunny day.

Visitors away again now. No nephews this time, they just brought the dog.

Gave them salmon for supper (Just Birdseye boil in bag). Seemed to go down well.

Glad you are feeing better Mollie. I'm sure your appetite will return soon.

Pity son had to miss out on his theatre performance.

Hi Hicky. Your fence man is very versatile if he produces his own free manure as well.

Not sure it's so great having a primary school so close to you? At break times it'll be nothing but screaming. But I guess you've got a playing field between you and them to insulate you against the noise.

Nice to see the wee lassie fae Shetland get through on the Voice.

emptybox

Good Morning Both.

Been up a while now, O/H was out at 4am never really got to sleep after that.

A bit frosty here, max 8.4C, 9.8mm rain, 2 hrs of sun and 16.9mph wind.

Mollie, the school play ground is a good way away, of course there is an unused football field between us.

I like Denise, don't know her Ex.

Emptybox, No nephews but a dog, do they think you run kennels.

Boil in the bag Salmon, very convenient that.

The Fence man has a Garden Centre and seems to dabble in everything, i've asked him to cut some branches off another rather big tree thats in the corner of the area at the back of the house attached to me, i want to trim the big branches before it springs into life.

He'll be back in a week anyway to do the rest of the fence.

Yes, the Shetland Isle girl was nice, travelled 600 miles to get on the voice.

I think the button cut off system wants revising, the judges don't know when the buttons are dead, seems stupid to me, they could have a countdown system or a visual system so they can see the time running out.

Hicky

all

Emptybox

glad the visit went well, and your great idea of salmon proved a hit. Did the dog get a bit? What sort of dog is it?

Did you watch 4 rooms tonight?

Shame leather clad lady who you like isn't on now.

Hicky

gosh you did have an early start this morning.

how handy your fence man sounds for you.

Yes Shetland girl had certainly made some journey to get on the Voice.

Mum's mobility has got a lot better now the pain in her ribs has eased. She is walking a few paces with her zimmer frame again, which is lucky as I was concerned she would not get even this back at one stage.
We wheeled her round a shopping centre for a few hours today, she seemed to enjoy it. Daughter needed to get a back pack and some walking boots for New York. She goes with college in a few weeks. The college has all of their 5 days fully planned with things to do, which is good, so she'll need some good walking shoes.
I have had to text one of the carers to collect mum's meds from the chemist in the morning because I didn't realise they closed at 2pm Saturday. The carer being so lovely said it was no problem for her to walk into town and drop them off at mum's flat. This would take her over an extra half hour, but no problem she said. Wonderful considering the long unsocial hours they work for minimum wage, how they always want to help us.

Watching Auction House now.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening All.

Not too bad a day, dry at least, very cold but had the sun all day.

My Raised Bed wood came at 9.15am.

The Electrician came to move the boiler temperature control sender unit.

It was by the boiler but the thermostat sender unit was in the hall and could lose comms with the sender unit.

The boiler control has now been moved to the hall coat cupboard, it should be fine now.

The gardener came, he moved the wood to the back garden, then started preparing for a bonfire, might have that tomorrow.

Mollie, glad your mum is getting around better now,

Nice of the carer to deliver your mums meds.

Hicky

both

Hicky

not as nice here today, hail storms on and off, it was so bad the whole place was white and icy and slipey. I felt chilly today (unusual for me), but must be because of lack of food for the last week. Thank goodness my appetite seems to of come back this afternoon.

That is good your heating got sorted today. Your raised bed wood came early today.

Let's hope it is dry for the bonfire tomorrow.

Emptybox

hope you have plenty of oil left, as it sounds like we have some more cold weather to come. There are signs of spring here though, the daffs nearly ready to come out, but haven't spotted the lambs yet. I expect I will soon.

Not much on tv tonight, am watching Corrie though.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

It was bitter in the wind today, even with the sun out as well, that cold wind is coming from Canada.

The wood was very heavy because as with most treated wood it is stored outside.

I really need some nice weather so i can get my sawing equipment set up outside. Some of the timber need cutting into 4 as i need 8 lths cutting, each raised bed has 6 full lths and 6 quarter lths as the beds are 2.4m x 0.6m and 3 planks high.

Should have the small summer house coming tomorrow.

I keep changing the garden layout slightly will have to post the latest.

Evening both.

Wouldn't have been a bad day here, if it hadn't been howling a gale but it's been raining this evening.

Hi Mollie. Glad your Mum's mobility is better now she's not in so much pain.

The carers seem like diamonds certainly.

Bet your daughter is looking forward to her trip to New York.

Good news that your appetite is back.

I had a delivery of oil this morning, so should see me through to the autumn hopefully.

Hi Hicky.

Ah I see, the fencer is a jack of all trades.

You've had a busy day for tradesmen, what with your wood delivery and the gardener and electrician.

Hopefully the weather will start to improve soon, so you can get on with some garden work.

At least you'll have the summerhouse to shelter in, if it comes tomorrow?

Been fiddling about all day with the technical preview of Windows 10. Got it installed as a virtual machine in Virtualbox, just to see what it's going to be like. Not very impressed TBH. Seems to be less functional than Windows 8. Mind you, it's only a beta version at the moment.

The proper version isn't due to come out till the autumn. But they've got a lot of polishing to do before then, to make it any good IMO.

emptybox

Good Afternoon Emptybox.

Another chilly day, lots of sun, lots of wind as well.

Small summerhouse delivered, decking joists delivered, Coir, coconut husk delivered, 5 times 5kg but when you add water it makes 350 litres when expanded, it's just to add to my raised beds and mix with the manure.

Didn't light the bonfire, too windy really.

What can Win10 do that Win 7 can't?

It's just a con trick changing OS's all the time.

Just had some cheese on toast, the problem with being retired, you have a little snack in the afternoon.

Hi Hicky.

Day started off nice here, but rain and wind by the afternoon.

Had a doctor's appointment. He's just keeping me on the same medication till I see the consultant again in May.

Said I could try a supplement like saw palmetto if I wanted to, so I might try that.

Glad your summerhouse arrived.

Haven't heard about the coconut coir stuff. Is it just a mulch?

Normally I wouldn't agree with you about operating systems, as I like progress.

But Windows 10 doesn't add much at all TBH. The only significant thing is that it has 'Cortana' the search app from Windows phones that you can speak to.

But I don't have a microphone on this computer anyway.

The only good thing is the upgrade to Windows 10 will be free, if you have Windows 7 or 8.

Yes, I'm always hungry too, when I'm stuck in during the winter. Always looking forward to the next meal or tea and cake etc. Mind you I never put on any weight, so it doesn't matter for me.

Morning Emptybox.

A bit warmer here today, some rain expected, wind a bit less than yesterday.

I suppose doc is saying keep on the same meds as he doesn't know what to change it to.

The coconut coir is just to add bulk to the raised beds mix, trying to keep the weight down and uses less soil, non if possible.

Each 5kg block turns into a 70 litre mass when it absorbs 7 gallons of water.

This is similar to what i bought.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nature...t-Coir/dp/B007US3HOQ

I'm hoping to burn some of the tree wood in the garden today, when the gardener arrives.

He has stacked the delivered wood in the garden, had to stack it on timber to keep it off the mud.

O/H brought me 2 Sausage & Egg McMuffins this morning, on her way from work, very nice too.

Glad to hear the upgrade to Win 10 is free but unless it has many benefits i don't usually change.

You can easily buy a microphone online to plug in if you needed one.

Like you, i don't seem to put on weight whatever i eat, i am less active now with not working so i might have to be careful.

Hicky

both

Hicky

that was nice of your OH to bring back a brekkie treat for you. Hope it stays dry for your fire today.

It is very wet here this morning. The coconut coir is a good idea to get your garden how you want. Your plan is very clever and detailed for your garden. Did you have to work out the positioning of the sun during the day before you decided where to place what. Do you get a lot of sun in the garden? I try and see where the sun is when we view a house, but not always easy if it is a cloudy day when you view.Did you manage to check on this before you bought the house. We are viewing the house we like again Saturday, so I am hoping for a bit of sun to be able to check on this.

Emptybox

Yes I agree with Hicky, the doc has just played it safe keeping you on the same meds until you see the consultant. Sensible thing to do for you though, as your meds don't seem to be harming you and the consultant is the expert in that field.

My OH is going to put that Windows 10 on my pc as he things the windows 8 is giving me a few problems. eg printer often won't work on my lappy now. Good job it is free then.

Had a bit of a cold the last few days, not surprised really as I had been unable to eat for so long after that gastric bug. Luckily it is not a real bad one, so feel a bit better today, nose stopped running today.

Luckily I don't have to look after mum today though, she is at day centre, then back at flat with carers until bedtime.

Time for a nice coffee from my machine. Daughter got me some vanilla lattes and she got Oreo ones. Great choice in pods, so I am glad you told me about this machine Hicky.

Have a good day both xx

M

Evening Mollie.

It's been dry all day, and sunny.

Lit the bonfire at 12.30 pm and then gardener came, we cut up all the tree and burnt it, also the 3 fence panels we took out.

If weather good tomorrow we are going to cut some raised bed end sections, a plank divided into 4 gives me 4 ends of the raised beds, i need 8 planks cutting up in total.

But with the wood being wet i'm bothered that if i make 1 level of a bed up we won't be able to lift it into place, (need 2 strong men)

The sun starts at the left hand corner (East) then moves to the end of the garden (it blinds us in the utility room) then it moves right and covers the whole garden, then it is facing the side of the garage, then moves more towards the bungalow as it drops.

The sun position couldn't really be any better as there aren't any building in the way.

In fact there isn't anything but a field behind me.

My Lad and i did notice the garden in relation to the sun, the original garden was surrounded with growth which limited what sun reached the garden, thats all gone now.

Sorry to hear you've had a cold for a few days, mine seems to have gone, for now.

We enjoy the Tassimo Cadbury's Chocolate, O/H even double up and make a very big glass full.

I bought 2 x 5 packs when last in Costco so they should last for a while.

I sometimes make a coffee then use fresh milk and heat the drink in the microwave for a bit.

I'm hoping that if the weather is favourable tomorrow we can rake the area where the summer houses are going and lay the matting and some paving to lay the bases on.

Hicky

Evening guys.

Started off frosty, then a sunny morning but rain this afternoon.

Got some paid work done today for a change. Just raking up leaves and tidying up of someone's garden. Would have done more if the rain hadn't of appeared.

You've been busy in your garden as well Hicky.

I think I remember you mentioning that coir stuff before. Reasonably cheap too.

Don't strain yourself lifting those raised bed sections.

Yes I think the doc is just playing it safe and leaving it to the consultant. He did the same when I was on antibiotics.

I'd been reading up on saw palmetto, and mentioned it to the doctor and asked his opinions. He basically said it wouldn't do any harm trying it.

Trouble is, I bought some multivitamins previously (seven seas), and every time I try take them I don't seem to feel so well afterwards, so I'm apprehensive about taking anything else.

But I think I'll at least give it a shot anyway. Quite expensive though.

Hi Mollie. Pity you had a cold so soon after getting over your stomach bug.

Glad it seems to be clearing.

Are you sure it's Windows 10 your OH is thinking of putting on your laptop? It's just a beta and is likely to have a few bugs yet, so isn't something to give to someone not very technical.

Are you sure he didn't say Windows 7?

Having said that, Windows 10 is like a mixture of Windows 8 and Windows 7, so wouldn't be difficult for you to use.

If Windows 8 won't work with your printer it's unlikely that Windows 10 will either, unless your OH has been experimenting and found it does work better?

Watched the Brit awards. Pity that Madonna fell, but she carried on well, considering she went down with quite a clump.

I think they'd choreographed it so she was supposed to have the cloak undone when the minion pulled it off, but she was obviously struggling to get it undone.

emptybox

Morning Emptybox.

quite warm here today, Forecast: 11.2C today, windy though 25mph, rain 8mm, Sun 5 hrs,

thats a change getting some paid work, it's a start.

I won't be able to lift the raised beds, i can lift a bit but can't lift and walk.

The rain has stopped, back garden like a lake.

Going to get the gardener if he comes to dig some trenches to fill with stone to try and channel the water from the top.

If the Multivits give you problems it sounds to me as if you have an allergy to certain substances that are contained in them.

Madonna didn't half fall hard, the quick release fastener on her cloak failed to release when they pulled it so she went with it.

Or else they pulled it too early if she was supposed to release it.

Just put a joint of Brisket in the oven on a bed of onion and carrot, should make a nice tea anyway, with a stock of course.

I've put in in a casserole dish at 150C and will leave for 3 hours, i can always put my oven probe in to check the temperature but 3 hrs should be fine.

The temperature needs to reach 96C inside the meat.

Evening All.

Just taken a few pictures of the garden so you can see the situation at the Mo.

It was very wet today, gardener didn't come.

You can see stacks of wood but i need to get some trenches dug to fill with pea stone.

Click on Attachments then you can arrow through at the bottom right.

As you can see the right hand fence has to be finished, another 10 sections, should be done next week.

I've got to get the drainage done and the weed matting down so i can lay out the ground according to the drawings.

Hicky

thanks for the photos.   Gosh your garden looks so different already. You are making good progress. Yes that is the great thing about having an open field by your new home, and a lack of undergrowth now, means nothing to shade you from the sun, The fence you have done so far looks great.

Good idea to get down to Costco to stock up on Tassimo stuff. The Oreo choc one is also really nice. When you say you use fresh milk sometimes, do you mean you put one of the coffee pods through the tassimo, then add the milk?

Emptybox

yes I think Hicky could be right, it might be some addative in the vitamins that upset you. Some are quite sugary, aren't they? I hope the palmetto does help things ease for you, especially if it is expensive.

I don't think OH knows anything about windows 10, he just thinks it is a free  replacement for windows 8, as windows 8 had so many problems.  So he said he would put it on my pc when it is out. From what you say, sounds like he is being a bit too optimistic.

That is good you managed to get a bit of paid work done. All helps pay the bills.

Yes Madonna did well to carry on, a fall like that would shake anyone up, let alone someone performing in front of live tv and live audience.

Had an hour and half meeting with social worker, occ therapist and care manager this morning. They said normally someone as bad as mum would be in a home, but they will carry on helping us as we don't want that. Without such a great care agency and my family who help so much, I wouldn't be able to keep her at home though. The OT is ordering a hospital bed for her to help the carers wash/dress her at bedside, and she can carry on with her 5 days at day centre. I pay ÂĢ55 a week for that whether she goes 1 day or 5, so she may as well go for 5 as she enjoys it. Then I send her ÂĢ4 dinner money too and she gets a cooked meal/pudding each day, and they do all sorts of activities with them.

Poor son took me to mums and waited 2 hours in car for me, he is a darling though, never complains as he knows we are helping his nan.

OH shattered as he had this cold too and continued to go to work, he leaves at 5.45am, and has around 120 mile round trip. But at least he can come home at night, so it is better than his last contract.

I am feeling a lot better at last and eating again.

Went to bed at 9pm last night as I was so tired all day yesterday, think that helped.

Are you sleeping ok now Emptybox?

And are your poor aches keeping you awake Hicky? What date are you due for your op now?

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Just need some nice weather now, some of my trees are getting buds all ready.

I sometimes use the Tassimo Pods and add fresh milk, have to put in microwave for a bit though because of the cold milk.

Got ÂĢ95 back from the car tax as i only taxed it for 6 months

It's good that the carers will carry on as they are.

Thats a long journey for your O/H, 120 miles round trip is rather a lot to do daily.

It's good that your eating again, i'm the same, my cough has gone but still not sleeping too good, not sure why, mind you i have to keep going for a wee., that could be the reason i keep waking.

Hicky

Evening both.

Very wet this morning, but quite mild. Drier this afternoon, but I didn't get out.

Your garden is looking very flat and even now Hicky, and the new fence looks great. Pity the weather hasn't played ball to let you get on.

Yes the trouble with the multi-vitamins is that there are so many ingredients, and any one could be the problem.

I hear saw palmetto can  cause some people to have stomach problems as well, but some are fine with it; so I can only try it and see.

Hi Mollie. Glad you are now feeling better, but sorry your OH has also been suffering with the cold.

I have been sleeping much better, but in the last couple of days I haven't slept so well; plus I had a headache last night, which didn't help.

Feel OK tonight though.

Windows 10 should be out properly in the Autumn sometime, and it'll be offered as a free upgrade, probably just through Windows Update, so should be very easy to upgrade your laptop to it.

Not sure it'll help with your printer though? But that depends on why it's having problems with Windows 8.

Sounds like a real struggle to keep your Mum in her own home.

emptybox

Morning Emptybox.

A much brighter day here today.

Forecast: 7.9C max today, 17.7mph wind, 0.3mm rain and 6.5hrs of Sun, thats what i need.

I got my new work bench set up yesterday to saw a few small bits of wood, it's really good, problem is i need 2 of them to lay long lengths of wood across them.

But don't think i can afford another one in my budget, the last one was a present.

I may be able to use another type of work horse i have but it's still in the box at the mo as i don't have the covered area to keep it unfolded.

The Brisket dinner i made yesterday went down well, just did mash and steamed sliced cabbage with it, the stock it was cooked in makes lovely gravy with some extra rich gravy added.

Hoping to get some work done in the garden today.

Hope the gardener comes.

Hicky

Evening All.

It's been a productive day here, no rain which is great.

Fitted weed matting from side of garage down to fence, marked out positions for summer houses.

Gardener dug trenches for land drain pipe, installed and filled trench with pea stone, added some other trenches off the main one as well, used the tonne of stone now.

Ready to erect the small summer house but my lad is away so have no-one to build it, too much for me on my own.

It might be wet at the weekend or i could get a few jobs done, so many to do, i want to mark out for the raised beds for a start.

Hicky

glad to hear things are coming on well with your garden, and the rain kept away. Bet you can't wait to get summerhouse up. Shame you can't afford another work bench. Could you find or afford a 2nd hand one maybe?

Emptybox

hope you are ok with the palmetto when you try it.

Hope you sleep ok tonight and the headache has cleared.

I will let you know if windows 10 solves any of our problems when we get it.

I am still feeling tired after that cold and stomach upset. Everything seems such an effort and unlike me, hate to get up in the mornings. I had a night off going to mum's tonight, good job because I am just so tired. We have a lovely carer putting her to bed tonight, so fingers crossed all goes well as this is the 1st time since she broke her rib that one single carer has put her to bed.

I can actually sit and enjoy Corrie and Goglebox tonight instead of travelling to mum's. (hopefully if nothing adverse occurs).

Wasn't Gogglebox last week funny, how they were cringing and covering their faces during the naughty bits, and then the murder from that "Basic Instinct" film.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

As you say, i can't wait to get the summer house up, it's only the small on but it would mean i can get stuff out of the garage to make some room to move around.

It's the roof that takes some care and time, we erected a couple at the old place so i know.

I have the rotary saw bench i haven't opened yet so if the weather is ok the weekend i will set it up to see how i can use it, it might just sit alongside the other bench to support the timber being cut.

Thats not good feeling tired, you need your night off caring for your mum.

Hope the night goes ok for the carer.

I've got tons of Goggle Box shows recorded, love watching my recordings of Undercover Boss and Storage Hunters, i'm addicted.

Hicky

Evening guys. A bit dull here but quite mild.

Glad the weather was kind enough to allow you to get your weed matting down Hicky, and to allow the gardener to put the drainage in.

Hi Mollie. Pity you are still feeling tired after your bug and cold.

Glad you get a rest from caring for your Mum today.

I bought some saw palmetto tablets today, and started taking them tonight, so I'll let you know how I get on.

Watched Million Pound Drop then Gogglebox.

Must admit I've lost interest in Gogglebox a bit. The novelty has worn off a bit for me now, although I still like the posh couple.

It's supposed to be very windy in the next few days. Just hope the power stays on here.

emptybox

Good Afternoon Emptybox.

Weather not too bad today, did a bit in the garden, cut the support beams to support the floor for the small summer house.

The beams will be supported on small paving flags to spread the weight.

I can't manage to build the shed but might ask the fence man when he comes, my lad is away this weekend as it's his O/H's birthday so i think they are in Spain.

Very pleased we managed to get the drainage in, good job we put the pipe in as i might have run out of stone without the pipe.

Having a rather lazy day, gardener doesn't work at the weekend.

Hicky

Morning All.

Forecast here today.: 7.3C, 28.5mph wind, 2.2mm rain & 6.5hrs Sun.

Had to try and stop the matting blowing about in the garden, put some timber down but it needs pegging, but i can't get down to do it myself.

Garden fairly dry at the Mo, so don't know what effect my drainage could have.

Enjoyed the Voice last night, some good singers.

Must admit Emptybox, never heard of saw Palmetto tablets.

Had Sun all day so far, it all helps to dry my garden out.

Hicky

Had a little rain, bot much, it didn't effect me making a Chicken Roast dinner though, only having carrots, i have a special way of cutting them, hate them sliced across or made into sticks, roasting mini roast chopped potato's, sage & onion stuffing, love that so much, will make Chicken Gravy to go with it, the plates are in the warming oven.

It will be rady for 5pm.

One of my next door neighbours from the old place called round after they had been swimming, he had one of his sons with him, one i used to give the jars of Jam to.

He only popped in to see how we were and fill me on on what was happening at his place.

He's going to come again and bring his Mrs and other son, the little one used to call my name over the fence, i used to give him some fruit, he's missing me, bless.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

It's been sunshine and showers here today, but very windy last night.

That's nice of your old neighbour popping round. Shows he's missing you (or your jam ).

Hope you enjoyed your roast chicken dinner. I like stuffing, but never think to buy it, so only get it at Xmas at my Bro's .

I just cut carrots straight across. They just taste the same anyway.

Yeah the Voice was good. I didn't agree with a lot of the choices though. Luckily some of the best ones were stolen anyway.

Hope your weed matting doesn't blow away, after all your hard work.

It's the berries of the saw palmetto plant that is used. It's supposed to help the prostate. Haven't felt so good today, so maybe they don't agree with me, but it's too early to tell yet. I'll persevere for another few days at least.

Any clinical trials they have done have been inconclusive, that's why docs here don't prescribe it.

Plus in rare cases it can affect the liver, so I'm only going to take it if I see some benefit.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Pity we had a little rain at the end of the day.

The Roast dinner was fantastic, we buy lots of small packs of stuffing, only do half of the small box at a time.

Always have it with Chicken, not the same without it.

I put more of the 3x3" timber onto the matting to hold it down till i can get it secured.

expecting delivery's for the next 2 days, Gazebo Monday & Big summer house Tuesday.

Hicky

Evening Both.

Very windy here today, couldn't do much under the circumstances.

Gardener popped round with some small pave flags he's giving me to support the floors of the summer houses.

31.5mph wind but 6.5hrs of sun.

My Gazebo didn't arrive, it seems they haven't even got a date to send it, i rang them and they basically said don't ring us we will ring you when we are sending it.

the wind tomorrow is 27mph so the fence man may not come as he can't put fences up in the wind.

I'm expecting the 10ft x 10ft summer house tomorrow, but i have 1 summer house here all ready to put up.

If it's too bad for fencing i might ask him if he could put the sheds up.

I've ordered some more black plastic sheeting for the raised beds, i've ordered a composting unit to compost household food. It's called a Bokashi unit.

I've found out that there are a lot of materials that can be put into the compost pile.

Cardboard, shredder paper, coffee grounds, news papers, sawdust.

Hicky

both xx

Hicky

pity the wind slowed down your gardening jobs. It was very windy here too. Hard work taking mum home in the dark, wind and rain, struggling to get her out of the car and into her wheelchair.

How nice you got to see your old neighbours, such a shame how they miss you, especially the youngster.

Emptybox

hope you feel a bit better today. Yes I suppose you need to give the palmetto a few days to see if it suits and helps you.

Yes i too enoyed the Voice, but as you say, some strange choices.

My son who did not get the gastric bug came down with it yesterday, so that is all of my family who have had it now. Apparently it is rampant in our local town and giving problems at the local hospital. I am hoping he gets over it quicker than I did.

It took me nearly 2 weeks to even get my appetite back.

But at last I am eating ok now and not feeling excessively tired.

(always do feel tired after looking after mum now, but not horribly tired like I was when unwell).

The carer did mum's washing for me Sunday, such a help as I have been struggling to keep up with washing for 6 people, especially now mum's sheets/pyjamas need a daily wash. They have a laundery in the flat complex, so I will just make sure I leave the change for them and they can do it then.

bedtime for me now, goodnight both. xx

M

Evening Mollie.

Yes, if it's not the rain then it's wind, one step forward and 2 steps back.

Everything is taking so long, problem is a can only do things in a certain order.

Don't have the room to get the materials in the wrong order.

As you say, it's difficult taking your mum around in the dark, even worse when it's windy.

Sorry to hear your son has now got the gastric bug, if it's rampant all around i think everyone will get it.

Thats an awful lot of washing to do all the time, you need an industrial washing machine to cope with that.

Sleep tight, hope you can get some anyway.

I just seem to sleep in 1 or 2 hour stints.

Hicky

Evening all.

Very cold and windy here today, no more than 3 degrees, and a snow shower this afternoon.

Feeling much better today, and got a reasonable night's sleep last night.

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well still Hicky. Hopefully the op will help on that score; after a period of recuperation.

Shame about your gazebo. Pretty bad that they can't even give you a date. Are they built to order?

Hope your summer house arrives OK tomorrow.

Yes you can stick a lot of paper stuff in the compost.

Hi Mollie.

Pity your other son has now caught the lurgie.

Those carers sure are good.

Watching 10,000 BC on 5. There's hardly any of them left now. They're dropping like flies.

Evening Emptybox.

Funny thing is, when i ordered the Gazebo i asked them if they could delay delivering it, i needed to order it as they said the price was going up.

I asked them to delay it till March.

Yes, i sure hope the big summer house comes tomorrow, it's a different company though.

I'm sure i have all the 10,000 BC programs on recordings, no idea when i will be able to watch them.

Hicky

Evening Both.

Fence man dropped off the concrete posts and base boards, the shed failed delivery for some reason, they just said it failed, maybe the wagon broke down.

I'll reschedule for next week, give me time to do more in the garden.

I asked the fence man about a machine to hammer the ground down, he said i need to put the matting down then he will flatten the ground.

Just made a lovely Spag Bol, used minced pork.

The fence man was going to erect the small summerhouse but it was too windy and i'm not a lot of help.

Did a bit of work in the garden.

This was the forecast.

Windy again here today, 6.6C, 26.7mph, 2.1mm rain, 7.1hrs of Sun

Gardener didn't come either, he might have been waiting for a phone call from me, not much he can do though at the mo, he can't come Wednesday & Friday.

If it's nice tomorrow i will get some new equipment out and saw the raised bed wood up.

I've ordered more black plastic, i will be able to cut it into some slices for the base panels of the raised beds and staple it.

Hi Hicky.

Oh not another failed delivery? You're not having much luck with those.

Dry here, but very cold and windy. Did a little bit outside (at home) but was frozen.

Hope you get a good day tomorrow to let you get on.

Had a delivery myself, of a Sealey jump start unit.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey...ords=sealey+131+jump

I'm going to keep it in the van, just in case I have battery problems while I'm out and about.

I know it's bulkier than the one you have, but I also want to use it, coupled to an inverter I already have, to provide power in a power cut.

Never made spag bol with pork before, only beef mince. Is it any good?

Not sure if you would think 10,000 BC was worth bothering with?

It started off good, but got less interesting as it became clear it wasn't really a valid experiment, and was really just another reality show. Also too many of them gave up too quickly.

Morning Emptybox.

Yes, not having much luck with deliveries, mind you i don't need those 2 items yet.

Haven't got the 1st summerhouse up yet.

Garden looks like a muddy wood yard.

To be honest i never noticed the mince was pork, it tasted no different to me.

Thats disappointing about 10,000 BC, i am easily bored so i might just look into a bit of it.

Weather here today: max 7.8C, 23.9mph wind, 2.1mm rain, 7.1 hrs of Sun

Hicky

Evening Both.

Not a bad day, warm enough, dry but windy.

Too windy to build the summer house again, and too windy to erect the fence panels.

Fence man came and brought the fence concrete base sections and the concrete 2.4m posts.

He dug all the holes and took down part of next doors fence as it was in the way.

he brought the fence panels later and needed his big electric machine to smash the concrete on the old concrete posts.

The old fence was all wood but the fence before that had the old concrete posts.

The grid that takes the water from the roof is in the middle of the wall which creates a sort of problem, 1 problem being we can't dig for a post by the grid, the other is we have to fasten a post to the wall and bridge the grid.

I put together my new rotary saw bench, fantastic.

My new roll of black plastic sheeting came so i can cut sections to cover the bottom section of wood on the raised beds.

My Bokashi bin came as well, i can now keep the scraps of food, any food.

Fence man said if wind has dropped a bit he will cut the branches of the big tree thats at the bottom of next door neighbours garden, but not in his garden.

I think it's going to give shade in the summer and i don't want to take a chance.

He is back Friday to put the fence up as the wind will have dropped by then.

Also, the fence man brought me a big bag of fence wood cut offs, the wood is feather board so you can put pieces together and use as wedge material.

He also brought about 20 500mm square flags and some 900 x 600 that i can use for my front step.

Just had a takeaway delivered, beef curry and fried rice.

Gazebo people rang, going to deliver next week before Thursday.
