Good Afternoon Everyone.

Had another 4" of snow overnight, roads are ok though, except side roads

Been clearing the front drive area.

Got a couple of pics form this morning.

I don't listen to music on the puter Mollie, usually have a gardening video on, there are so many interesting ones.

I remember Rydian Mollie, wouldn't go and see him though.

I found another about Air propagating, have ordered some stuff from the states that they uses, it looks fantastic.

Garden this morning.

Hello all

Thanks for the photos Hicky ,yes where Is Spring ? the roads are pretty bad around here as they are minor ones ,they do leave a grit box at the bottom ,but Its too hilly to lug It up ..luckily we have a large bag that we bought ,

Spag Bol to-day emptybox or are you having a change

I hope you are well Mollie and your mum Is ok xx

thought this might cheer you up ta ta for now ..speak later

A change from spag bol Frodo? Have you gone stark staring mad?

Cute cat pic.

Extremely cold and windy here, but no snow. There was a little left on the lawn first thing but it's gone now.

Haven't used spotify Mollie, but Windows 8 has the Xbox Music app which does a similar thing. It allows you to listen to the music stored on the computer, but also lets you listen to just about anything else. You have to put up with a short advert every half an hour or so, or you can subscribe to get rid of the ads. I mostly just listen to the music I've put on the computer anyway.

I hope listening to Rhydian isn't compulsory with Spotify?

Hope it warms up soon.

Good Afternoon Frodo.

It's snowing again here.

They put sand at the bottom of the hill, it's far too heavy to carry shovels of it up.

Last year i took a sack of rock salt in the car and a shovel.

Here's a video, this weeks, the bloke is the one that sent me the rare seeds, lovely feller.

He's indoors because of the weather.

Oh to be a cat, not a care in the world. just lay back and let everyone look after you.

Just having some more beef Rendang with vegetable rice.

Hicky

Afternoon Emptybox.

As far as the forecast goes, snow finishes tonight.

As you say, with the temperature being pretty low the snow won't be shifting.

No real improvement for this month on the cards.

The web is full of video's of graft, pruning, propagating so you never really see them all.

The bloke in the video, Ray, been watching him for quite a while, he has green fingers all right.

Hicky

Hicky

what lovely snow piccies.Your garden looks so prterry.  You have had a lot of snow. We have not even had one flake here, the temperature has been around plus 5 today, even though the wind on the seafront felt icy today.  That is interesting to see the fella who sent you the seeds.

Emptybox

unusual for Hicky to have the snow and you don't.

hope you enjoyed your sphag bol tonight.

I had some pizza and salad.

Fredo

what a cute cat piccie, as Hicky says cats do tend to live a good life.Done any home baking today?

My  mum has a working phone at last, it has taken 20 days of pushing and nagging and endless phone calls to BT to get this. It has really been worrying me so much. We went over this morning and it was still not working, then later today when we went over, she said a man had come out and fixed it. They hadn't even told us they were sending some one out. for the last 5 days they had kept insisting it didn't need a visit from an engineer, that they could fix it at the exchange.   (but still charged for an engineer's  visit of course!)..

OH took me to greasy spoon today for brekkie, so that was nice.

Goodnight all xxx

... am done in so going to bed to read my book, think I will take hot water bottle, feels a bit nippy tonight.

M

Evening Mollie.

You missed out on the snow, looking at the map coverage last night, certain area's came under the snow umbrella.

Ray is nice, i get sent a new gardening video every week from his tv show, or whatever it is.

Glad your Mums phone is sorted at last, thats one less problem to deal with.

Nice going to the greasy spoon for brekkie, i was going to go for a brekkie with my lad but we took some stuff to the scrappy and was then running late so i cooked him brekkie at home.

Hicky

Afternoon all

Still very cold and the snow seems determined to stay brrrrr ,we all seem to be  the same weather wise so got to put up with It ,still a good grumble does you good

So pleased your mum Is sorted Mollie ,that will take a load of worry off your mind ,

No more baking for the time being but I shall carry on ,if you are on your own at times ,a sandwich is an easy option but this way If and when I'm cooking for one Its all there .I am going to try some crispbakes after all Its only mash ,cheese onions.and seasoning made into round and dipped in breadcrumbs .I did do some veggie lasagna in those foil boxes and It freezes good, I do have some disasters though ,but Its all good innit

Funny emptybox I can't eat Spaghetti always use the Tagliatelle and I know Its the same Its just a block ,and I eat the shells and any other shape too

Hello to Hicky xx speak later

FM

Hello all

sorry I had to break off earlier dinner was ready, the post seemed to be all about me sorry just saying that I love baking but I have disasters.by the way as I've said before I'm hooked on this instant mash, cant beat a new potato with butter but as there aren't any around mash Is good.

Do you think this cold weather sends you a little batty ,on the food issue  that's all I seem to think about..anyhows Yorkshire Pudding for lunch to-day

stops to smack myself on the wrist...enough about food from me .anyone had anything good to eat to-day.

Anyone finding the telly a bit dull to-night ..think I may put a film on .which takes me to last night BBC4 almost always have a Foreign detective series on ,on a Saturday but last night they put  a German film on *Silence* very disturbing and I wont go into detail just in case anyone has taped It .

I hope you are well Mollie do you cook for your mum Sundays ? HOW Is she coping in her new home ..I so hope Its put your mind at rest now that BT have sorted things out , I may have asked this before do your family all clamour for different things at meal times cos teenagers can be faddy ..or do you just take It in your stride. My sons girl friend has give him 50 Shades Of Grey to read Its been on the shelf for quite a while now think I may take a look but not many things shock me but Is I worth a read I like a good story sheesh am I getting old .

HI eptybox Is Aiseleyne on to-night I get lost ..this thing with a little dog has put me out of sorts ,Tuesday morning he goes in really for his own good ,but as any animal lover will know Its upsetting .

Perhaps you can give me some tips on freezing because I've read you saying about cooking and freezing half ,so that would be good.

Hello Hicks last but not least ..how are you coping with this weather ? will It ruin your fruit trees  I certainly hope not all the care that has gone into your garden It must be a nightmare ,,you take care

well enough from me ,,,ta ta for now xxxxxxxxx

This is one of my sons favs so happy birthday for next week

Hope our VIP is well....

shame you missed brekkie out, but glad you made up for it at home.Getting a video every week is nice for you to look forward to as I know you enjoy your gardening.

what did you get from Costco today?

Fredo

hope the crispbakes come out ok.

Still cold here again today.

But at least it was dry, so nice to take the doggie in the beach.

Our friends are moving, so helped them shift a few things too.

I bought some cheese and chives potato skins from Sainsburys for tea and had them with peas. Very nice.

Emptybox

when do you reckon your busy grass cutting season will start?

Have a good evening all. x

M

Evening Frodo & Mollie.

Frodo, telly is awful lately, just watch a few things that stick out when i look around.

Am hoping the cold weather won't effect my fruit trees, it isn't that cold so they should be ok.

Mollie, all we got from Costco was some Loo rolls, peppered smoked mackerel, Mango Chutney, big Plums, a side of Salmon.

They had all these beautiful fruit trees, about less than ÂĢ12 each, i wish i had room for them.

Forecast says -1 here tonight.

My Forecast here.

Work in the morning, it doesn't say snow tonight anyway.

Hicky

Fredo

we posted the same time last night.

I too found tv a bit dull last night so focused on food. Daughter and I chose one of those plastic boxes of mixed dips last night and bought some new crisps to dip on them.

yes I cook for mum at weekends, but she only has small portions. And I send her sandwiches and snacks like pot rice for her too.

Aaawww I feel really sorry for you worrying about taking the little doggie to the vets to be done tomorrow. I understand as I even hate taking my doggie for an injection. But I am sure the vet will make sure the doggie is well before doing the op. I make sure the vet checks all before giving the injection, even that the security tag hasn't moved. So don't be hesistant about asking questions, I usually write them down so I don't forget. I know the vets understand how important our little furry friends are to us, and wouldn't do the op if they didn't think the dog was ok for it.

If you like a good story, I wouldn't bother reading 50 Shades of Grey.   I read all 3 of them, so I could see what happened in the end ,and to be honest, the storylines are rubbish. I even got bored of the naughty bits, because the storyline was so weak. (maybe it is just me though, as I know what big sellers they are).

Hicky

yes hope your trees are ok in this weather, it certainly feels cold here, but I think it is mainly the wind, no frost or snow. That was a small shop for you from Costcos, shame you have run out of room for the fruit trees now.

Hope work was not too busy today.

No Emptybox since 23rd. HOpe he has not had a powercut like some have.

Today it is my birthday, and on birthdays you eat as much as you want. .   A rule I made up myself, that is. (I am guessing it is a rule all my pals here will agree with.)

So daughter and I had lunch out at greasy spoon...veg and gravy and apple crumble and home made ice cream in the cafe. Daughter is making a nice cake now, and I am eating some Honey and Salt Sensations nuts now, my fave..

Not much on tv again, never mind I am busy eating tonight.

have a good evening all x

M

Evening All.

Evening Mollie.

Happy Birthday Mollie.

Happy Birthday Mollie

Was pretty busy at work today

I've got 50 shades of grey, haven't read it yet though.

We only went to Costco to look around, to give my lad a trip out with having no car.

My lad has got a bit of glass in his eye from work and A&E couldn't get it out so i've got to take him to Arrow Park Hospital in the morning for 7am.

Sounds like you are enjoying it anyway.

Hicky

Hi Mollie. Happy Birthday.

Hi Hicky. Hope your plants are fine in all the cold weather.

Sorry to hear about your lad's eye.

Aisleyne was on last night Frodo, along with Bianca Gascoigne.

Sorry didn't post yesterday, and today's is short.

I'm having some health worries here, which might well turn out to be quite serious. I'm seeing the doctor on Wednesday, so should be able to say more then possibly.

Hi Emptybox

I am very sorry to hear you have health worries at the moment.

I know it will seem like a long wait until you see the doc on Wednesday, but we will be thinking of you.

Just you come on here and post as much or as little as you feel like doing, we do understand.

And we always have the other section where I used to go if we feel like chatting out of the limelight.

Hope the doc can help sort you out.

M

Hi HIcky

now that is a nice looking Birthday cake, thank you.

I have just eaten a nice big piece of cake daughter made for me.

Your poor lad getting some glass in his eye. How annoying he has to put up with it until tomorrow morning, it must be driving him mad.

HOpe they can get rid of it easily tomorrow.

Watching Newsnight about Cyrpus.. what a mess...

just theft as the guy on tv says..

goodnight all xxx

M

Good afternoon all

have a quick few minutes inbetween going to and fro from mums. This morning  occ therapist has been and said they will fix a bath seat to make it easier for her to bathe, and this afternoon her lifeline is being put in to wear round her neck, so will go back when they ring to say they are on the way.

Hicky

hope the hospital managed to sort your lads eye out ok this morning.

how were your outside plants fairing when you checked them?

Hope they are ok...is it still cold up there?

Still cold here, but at least it is dry, so I guess that is good if you want to get into your garden.

Hope you are managing today  Emptybox.

Fredo...hope doggie gets on ok at the vets today.

time to grab a bit of lunch, think I will stick to a banana and a coffee after all that food I ate yesterday.

Not much on tv yet again tonight. too much football lately imo.

M

Good Afternoon Mollie.

It was my Lads hand, thought O/H said eye, was mistaken.

Took him to the hospital, he came out at 12.00, they got the glass out but it may have damaged some nerves etc where it was wedged.

The plants seem ok, have seen some big Blackberry plants that i fancy.

These. http://www.marshalls-seeds.co....-plants-pid5353.html

It's been sunny for part of today, still cold in the shade though, it's staying all week.

As you say Mollie, TV awful, not much we can do.

You will be worn out tripping to and from your Mums

Hicky

Evening All.

I'm going to order the 3 big Blackberry plants, worked out where to put them, going to use 3 of the tubs we used for flowers in the front last year as O/H wants to buy a big posh stone tub and get a tree or a climber and put a fancy climbing frame inside the tub for the tree to climb over.

The climber is ÂĢ50 and the frame is about the same and the tub may be a bit dearer.

These blackberry's are massive and similar to the raspberry's you can have to lots of fruit a year or one.

Just had some meat sandwiches for tea, had 3 fillets of peppered smoked mackerel this afternoon.

Cleared a lot of the snow off the decking to make it easier to walk, it came off in frozen blocks.

Sidd taking his shopping trolley with his football in it for a walk.

Sidd with his Shopping Trolley

Sidd looking at himself in the phone.

Hicky

Good morning all

Emptybox

hope the docs visit goes ok today, thinking of you.

Fredo

hope the doggie and his problems are all sorted now.

Hicky

Aaaww little Sid is just so cute, he has gorgeous huge eyes. What a lovely age this is. at him with his football in his shopping trolley. It is so nice for us that we can get to see your photos on here.

Gosh your lads hand must of been bad if they think it could of affected the nerves. I hope it hasn't and they heal ok.

Lovely sunny morning here, with a bit of a nip in the air, but great for catching up and pegging out the washing.

M

Hicky

have just looked at your blackberry plant link. Good idea to buy the 3 of them, as one is free then. They should be really delicious as they are big ones when grown at home. Glad you managed to find space for them.

You will have to send up a piccie when you get this big stone tub. I like these with trees/climbers in them, they look really nice.

M

Afternoon guys.

Feel a wee bit silly here, but never been so glad to be proved wrong in all my life.

Last Thursday I found a lump on one of those things that a feller shouldn't oughter have lumps on. Plus I've been feeling a bit grotty, with a wheezy chest and slight temperature and loss of appetite (I couldn't eat all of my spag bol on Saturday ). Plus I had a bit of pain in the groin area.

Genius here decided that it was likely to be 'Goodbye and thanks for all the Fish'* from poor emptybox. Especially as I thought it had got into the lungs. I haven't had a wink of sleep for nearly five days.

*(from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

However the doctor says it's almost certainly a benign cyst, and it's just co-incidence that I've got an upper respiratory tract infection. And the groin pain was caused by a couple of hernias that might need attention. He's going to send me for an ultra-sound test at the hospital just to make sure though.

Still feel a bit grotty, but I've just wolfed down a mammoth slice of coffee cake in celebration.

Been snowing here on and off since I last posted. Lying overnight and melting in the morning (looking out the window and pacing about at 5am. .)

Hi Hicky. Glad they got the glass out of your son's hand, but sounds nasty, if there might be permanent damage?

Hi Mollie. It's good that your Mum's safety stuff is getting sorted.

Hi Frodo. I can sympathise with your dog, just having had my own intimate area prodded and squeezed.

Aaawww Emptybox

I so feel for you. No wonder you were worried out of your mind until you got to see the doc. What an awful long wait it must of been for you these last few days. But such a relief that it is something that can easily be dealt with. Perhaps as you are obviously unwell, one thing has aggravated the other.. so all things give symptoms at the same time. You need to rest and to take care now and not over exert by doing gardens whilst you have a respiratory infection. I assume you have got some meds for it?

And you must be exhausted from the worry and the resultant lack of sleep. Hopefully you can sleep well now tonight and catch up a bit. And as you enjoyed that piece of cake, hopefully you can eat better too now.

Have you had a cold before you got this infection? I know there are a lot around....me and the family are still coughing from the cold we got weeks ago.

Hope you feel better soon. x

Glad to have you back here again, we missed you.

Did you see the Syndicate last night? I am glad you told me about this, as I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the first series. There is something about Pompeii on bbc1 at 9pm, which might be interesting, but can't find much else to watch yet again.

Took doggie nice walk today down seafront, we had a chilly breeze, but it was a nice day. I was wrapped up well though, with 4 layers, hat and gloves. And even the doggie had her coat on.

Have a good evening all x

M

Hi Mollie, you are probably right about one condition affecting another, and I worried myself even sicker, which didn't help.

Didn't get a prescription. I think the doc wants to wait to see the result of the ultrasound first. Also it's only a mild infection, my appetite returned somewhat, as soon as the knot in my stomach went away.

Yes I did have a cold first, and still have a blocked up nose.

I forgot about the Syndicate last night. Was just watching anything.

I'm typing this in the darkness. We have a powercut right now, but I'm able to get on the internet because my router is being powered by the UPS I bought a while ago. Won't last long though. They promise to restore power by 9.45pm, but I haven't even my supper yet.

emptybox

Evening all.

Wow Emptybox, thats a load of your mind, once you know what the problem is they can usually sort it, it is worrying though.

It's been snowing all day here but it didn't stick, too warm.

I'm off till next Tuesday now.

Am watching all the cooking shows, will watch Pompeii though, sounds good.

Yes Mollie, wrap up well on these walk, i have to have the hood up on my coats as i can't stand the wind on my head or neck.

You did well for typing in the darkness Emptybox, i have more trouble than that in the light.

Hope youe power doesn't stay off too long.

My Brie has arrived a few days ago, just waiting for the Almonds to make the crumb coating to cover the slices of Brie.

I've emailed the company to tell them about 2 Strawberry plants that failed out of the 20 i got.

Maybe 10% is acceptable.

Hicky

Morning.

The snow is all away here, but it's very cold.

The power didn't come back on last night, so I never got a proper supper, just bread and cheese. When it hadn't come on at 10.30pm I just went to bed, but it was freezing. However I was so tired that I slept for 12 hours.

Luckily the power is back on this morning.

I was typing on my tablet last night Hicky, so it has the on-screen keyboard. The UPS was very good, kept the router and telephone on for about 2 hours after the power went off. I didn't have the computer on though. In that case it would only have lasted for 15 minutes or so.

Enjoy your Easter break from work.

I'd almost forgot about Easter, and the clocks going forward at the weekend. My mind was on other stuff.

Evening Everyone.

Evening Emptybox and Frodo, and Mollie when she has time, busy busy lady.

Just had a small brekkie, scrambled egg and chopped onion on toast, then later a pan fried fresh Salmon slice, then my neighbour gave me a curry fish fish cake thingy then i made my own chips with my chip cutter gadget, and halved a big chicken and cooked that for our tea.

O/H bought a pack on golden bread crumbs and ground almonds to make the baked Somerset Brie, yummy, tomorrow,

Re-potted one of the Fig Trees into the new larger Tub wth the water tank in the bottom, got 2 more to do but it's quite a big job, i also chopped off 10% of the roots which also makes it lighter to handle.

Told the online shop about 2 of my Strawberry plants failing, they are sending me another 10, will have to give my neighbour 8.

At least the UPS gave you something, maybe you should invest in a bigger one, or another one.

Must remember the clocks Saturday night, and to move everyone on an hour.

Hope you Dog is OK Frodo, not a thing i've ever had, he only needs a little TLC eh.

You say whatever you want, bottling things up isn't really good for you either.

hope Mollie had a good Birthday, i bet she was busy though.

Hicky

all

Fredo

don't be daft, you don't have to apologise for missing my birthday when you didn't know and you had things on. But thank you for the lovely piccie.

Yes don't be afraid to share your downs as well as your ups with us, you know what they say about a problem shared. And the 3 of us here have certainly shared a few downs as well as the ups here, and I have received a lot of support from my buddies here during the downs. (as I know you would too).

As Hicky says bottling stuff up and pretending all is good is not good for you.Poor you and poor doggie,  I know how horrible it is to see your pet in pain, they look at you like you have the power to stop it, then you feel so guilty. HOpefully he will perk up soon.

Emptybox

yes sounds like you have had a nasty virus, and as you say, made worse with the worry of it all. Good job you were so tired, that you managed to sleep through the cold caused by the power cut. Good job the UPS gave you 2 hours of power, else it would of been a long night. Do you know why you had a power cut? I know you do get quite a few of them though. We used to constantly get them when we lived in the valley, and tv reception was bad when too.

Hicky

Nice for you now to have a long break from work, looks like the weather is going to be dry too, so you should get plenty of time in your garden. That brie recipe sounds nice. I love brie. That is good to get 10 replacement plants for your 2 failed ones.

Things are calming down a bit for me now, thank goodness. Mum settled well in flat and pleased with her meals, and security system all in place. I still do her housework, washing etc and meals at weekends, but so glad she gets a hot meal 5 days a week delivered now, The ladies that bring them are very friendly she says.

Doggie enjoyed her walk again today, so did I as it was nice and dry again, Didn't mind the cool breeze with my pink hat and matching gloves on, and puffa jacket to keep me warm.

Huge local caravan park was on local tv news tonight and they said they have got loads of bookings this Easter, which is good. I think people are coming with the dry weather forecast, and maybe they can't afford to go abroad in school hols, but the caravan park does have lots of nice indoor entertainment stuff too. Lovely swimming pool and clubs.

Not much on tv yet again.

The Voice starts this weekend, so I will watch that.

I wish Big Brother was on all year round.

have a good evening all xxx

M

Hi Frodo. Glad your dog is getting there, even if he feeling sorry for himself.

When I was worried I didn't know what to put on here, but after my worries abated, I found it good to unburden myself.

Don't have many friends in real life, so it's great to talk on here.

Glad your Mum is more settled now Mollie.

Not sure why we had the power-cut? There was snow on the ground, but not enough to cause problems. Before the power went off it flickered off an on for ages.

I must be getting my appetite back, because I felt hungry reading your post Hicky.

I'm thinking of getting another couple of UPSs for my other two computer stations, because the power cut seems to have caused problems for one of my PCs that was on when the power went off. It first of all refused to boot up, and went through some repairing routine without helping. It did eventually boot up though.

You got a good deal with those extra strawbwrry plants.

There's more snow forecast here for Friday and Saturday, with below zero temps at night.

Thanks for the tip about The Voice Mollie. I'll have to watch that.

Also looking forward to the new series of Dr Who on Saturday.

emptybox

AH yes almost forgot Its Easter week-end still very cold and snowy but its

not settling although there was a massive icicle on the porch at the back ,must have been around three foot long pretty wide too .

Really had too laugh they gave the dog a massive cone to put around his head

I mean if you had just had your assets cut off the one pleasure as a dog apart from walkies .would you entertain a traffic cone around your head ..sheesh so I made him some pants to stop him chewing around .my reward was a good snarling of the teeth ..sort of reminding me he has some dignity and wearing cut pants is the last straw

anyhow night all sees you xx

FM

Evening All.

Full house eh.

Forecast says Friday/Saturday dry and sunny, well today was lovely.

Got my last 2 fig trees re-potted into the 80ltr tubs, taking out the 50ltr ones.

Quite a job on your own but it had to be done.

Slicing the bottom of the old root block and shaving some off the sides makes the root ball small enough to be able to manage to lift it into the new tub.

Its ok getting it out of the old tub as you do it when its lying down.

My neighbour gave me a hot loaf he baked for me.

I had a hot slice with butter.

I had a bacon sandwich for brekkie, cut most of the fat off and added a little coconut oil to crisp it up.

Then we had some Somerset Brie coated in breadcrumbs, tried deep frying in vegetable oil.

It wasn't deep enough though as i had to turn it over in the pan.

I then tried it in the oven, 200C for 8 minutes, but that was spilling the cheese out as well.

I then had a cold plate of chicken left over from last nigh.

I now have a chocolate nest with baby eggs.

We are cooking a big roast dinner tomorrow for us and my lads lot and his other son.

We will be eating at his place so we will take the food down to him.

Evening Mollie,

Can't wait for BB as you say, a little while yet though.

I see you are still busy with your Mum weekends as well.

At least she's happier now.

I wouldn't expect too many to be going abroad just for an Easter break, it would be expensive.

Emptybox.

Glad you have you appetite back, try and stay calm

Will watch the voice the weekend, haven't got the 'TV Choice' yet, will see if i can get one tomorrow.

I think more UPS units would help you out in case of more power cuts.

Evening Frodo.

Evening.

Some sun here today, but a bit of snow as well.

I went into town to get my lottery tickets, but it was very cold.

Not feeling too bad now. Still a bit wobbly, but appetite fully returned.
Had a king prawn balti tonight.

Glad you got your fig trees planted Hicky. Sounds like it was heavy work?

Enjoy your roast dinner tomorrow.

Hi Frodo. Glad your doggie has recovered it's appetite, even with it's traffic cone on it's head.

Nice Easter Bunny pic.

Watched The Syndicate tonight. Not sure if it's the same episode that I missed the other night? Think they might have it on a different day in Scotland?

Anyway, there are a lot of flash-backs in it, so you can probably enjoy any episode.
