Good evening all

Hope Emptybox's van didn't let him down today and that he had a good day at his brothers.

And certainly hope he makes it back ok.

no not a sign of ice in Grease. Robin must of wanted to get away from the cold and wet, so went into singing instead.

Yes I am really amazed about my bad back, I never associated the 2 things, but that growth was so big in my chest it had actually moved my rib cage, so the back pain was on one side of the ribs where it had been moved. It was getting worse and worse. When I lay down I could feel this bone sticking up from the middle of my rib cage, thought it was because I had lost a bit of weight on my diet. Until after my ops  I gradually realised the back ache was easing post op, and the sticking up bone was gradually going back into place, now that big growth had been removed from my chest. When I had been admitted into hospital I had never even mentioned my bad back to them because I hadn't connected the breathing problems to a bad back.

HIcky

pity the weather was not good on your day off today.

I liked your lads singing videos. Good job he enjoys his singing whilst stuck  in the middle of the outback. I know how isolated that is, I recall travelling once on a bus for 12 hours from one city to another, and apart from the Mcdonalds and a caravan site half way there , we saw  nothing but bushes and kangaroos all the way.

Pity your meringue was not too good, but it is notoriously hard to make, A bit more practice, and you will get the hang of it, good job you have plenty of eggs.

Went to see another house today on the outside, but you needed a 4 wheel drive to get to it.   It was in the middle of the common. OH parked the car and we walked the track bit in the end .After our recent experiences,  I fancied the thought of sheep and horses for neighbours instead of humans though,   Lovely farmhouse it was, but OH reckons we would be cut off in winter with a bit of snow. and an ordinary cars suspension wouldnt cope. Phoning about another house tommorrow, lots of big family houses up for rent , compared to 6 months ago. Most are people who can't sell because they are asking too high a price.

not much on tv again, good job it is CBB and X factor soon.

hope you both are having a good evening. xx

M

Evening Mollie.

That was great solving a few problems at the same time, just shows what happens when you have 1 problem, you end up with more.

You would need a Lamd Rover if you had that house, but there again I think everyone should have one anyway.

It's defo the time for buying, not a good time for selling.

Work tomorrow, hope I'm not too busy.

Hicky
Evening.
Your intrepid traveller has returned unscathed to tell the tale.
Actually the  journey was without incident, and i didn't have any trouble with the van.

It was raining incessantly all day though, so wasn't the best day for a summer visit.
I enjoyed the catchup though, and we had a  lovely meal.

My brother had a listen to the noises in the van, and he thinks it's the alternator or the alternator belt.
That wouldn't be too serious to fix, and as they only fitted a new alternator to it 6 months ago, I might even get it repaired for free?

Pity the house wasn't suitable Mollie, but there are plenty more out there. :0

Meringues sound tricky Hicky? I'm told you can't make them without breaking a few eggs? (or is that omlettes I'm thinking of? :confused; )

I'm bracing myself for another stock market fall tomorrow, after S&P downgraded the uS's credit rating. :9
emptybox

Hi Mollie & Emptybox.

Glad things went ok yesterday.

It can be serious if the any belt goes as they usually do more than one job these days.

They drive pumps etc.

It won't be the Alternator as they last for years unless the belts have been overtightened then the bearing will go.

You need it looked at quick to determine what the problem is.

It is ok making the Meringue I just love eating it.

O/H was getting some Strawberries and cream to go with it.

I'll make some more as I've got loads of eggs to use up.

It did some raining yesterday so didn't put my watering on, not enough Sun to use the water up.

A few oics of the CBB Garden are out.

http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/f..._posts.asp?TID=32199

Hope Mollie is having a good day

Hicky

Good evening both

Emptybox

so glad you made it there and back ok.   Pity about the weather, but it was nice for you to have a bit of company and n enjoyable meal. What did you have for the nice meal? Did the lads get you playing on their games this time?  Fingers crossed you can get the van fixed for free. As you guessed, not good news on the stock market. All you can hope, I guess,  is because you have plenty of years before retirement, it goes up again eventually before you retire.

Hicky

Hope you weren't too busy at work today.

thanks for the pic of the BB garden. I am so glad that it is looking good, and with a nice swimming pool. We want to see the HM's having some fun.

Hope you have some more success this time with the meringue, it will go lovely with the strawberries and cream.

Took dog walkies with son, and the heavens opened half way, so we sheltered under the trees, but it was so heavy they didn't protect us much. Had to get changed when got home. And OH had to dry dog with hairdryer. It has been like that today, really heavy showers now and again.

Am watching Horizon now, interesting.. about colours. I always knew if you needed to do something challenging, it was best to wear red. Me and my friend used to joke about it when we worked in the office. Also had double Corrie.

hope you both have a good evening. xx

M

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

It wasn't too bad at work, a boss has gone on Holiday again.

Not a nice day weatherwise, pretty miserable really.

Went out for tea to the Carvery, tried the madras curry for a change, not very hot though, shouldhave had the Carvery, they were pretty busy as well.

Might wait till Thursday to try the meringue again.

Had a couple of the beetroots out, gave one to the MIL.

The potato plants are 5 ft tall now, flowering as well.

Shame you got caught in the rain, but it's a funny month, lots of rain.

Just watched Hugh's Fish Fight, it's coming on well.

Day off tomorrow anyway.

Hope Emptybox's Van is ok.

10 days to go.

Hicky
Hi Mollie and Hicky.
It was cloudy cold and windy this morning. A wee bit more sunshine this afternoon. At least it stayed dry, so I got some grass cut.

My brother tells me me the belt only does the alternator on that van. There's a separarte belt for the pumps.
And the garage fitted the alternator 6 months ago, so if they over-tightened the belt then they'll have to fix it.

We had steak with pepper sauce last night Mollie. I didn't see much of the nephews because the youngest one was at a scout camp, and the oldest one was at a football match all afternoon and only appeared for supper.

I like the soft meringues that you get in a lemon meringue pie, but I'm not that keen on the hard kind.

I watched Horizon as well Mollie. I thought it was really weird how the names we have for colours changes how we see them. The african tribe could see a difference in colour when we couldn't and vice versa. Strange?

Terrible news from the stockmarket. As you say Mollie, it could take years for things to recover.
And these stupid riots won't help either. As if things weren't bad enough, these imbeciles seem determined to grind this country into the dust.

Glad you had an easy day Hicky, what with a boss being away.
I had a curry myself tonight (prawn rogan josh). Didn't try to carve it though.
emptybox

Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

Hope it's not too big a job to sort your van out.

I love pepper sauce with streak, my Lad used to have it a lot as well.

The Meringue I made had a hard shell with a soft underside, I thought it was yummy.

Will be making a big pot of Beef Thai Green Curry Thursday or Friday.

It seems to be raining at the Mo, awful.

Hope Mollie has a good day.

These riots are a bummer, they are just a mob that wants to loot really.

Hicky

Good evening both

HIcky

that is good that the boss is away again.

Glad to hear you are still making good use of the carvary, think it is about time we did too soon. Is your family coming over to share the big bowl of curry, or are you and OH going to make a big meal of it alone? 5 foot tall ...sounds like those potato plants are doing well.

Emptybox

Glad you enjoyed the pepper steak, shame the lads didn't get chance to get you on the games, but I guess with only visiting for 1 day, kept you busy just catching up with your brother in general.

Yes I too found that bit of Horizon incredible , how they couldn't see the blue amongst the green, and we found it hard to work out the other colour difference because of the words we use.

Yes these damn rioters are awful. Not even protesters with a cause, just thieves, destroying inoocent peoples livelhoods.

Tonight, we went to see this house we fancy from the outside, we have decided we all like the look of it, so will pause our house hunting until we can go round this one inside in just over a week, when the current tenants move out. We then had a nice walk with doggie down the seafront, and I had a latte, and a naughty capacinno muffin. Bang goes the diet again.

Finished all the vat stuff, son photocopied it, then walked to post office, so all done for now.

hope you have both had a good evening.

Good news that it is CBB soon.

M

Evening.
Not bad day at all here. Quite warm in the sun. Got quite a bit of grass cutting done because the forecast for the rest of the week isn't good.

Hope that house turns out to be suitable on the inside Mollie. Bte you're glad to have got that VAT stuff out of the way?

Haven't heard about the car yet. I'll have to ring tomorrow I think.

Watched a thing tonight, about a girl that goes to sleep for 2 weeks at a time. I think it was a repeat, but it was interesting anyway.

emptybox

Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

Not so good here today, looks like raid most of the time till Sunday.

Had another Carvery last night, was going to cook a joint of meat O/H bought, she thought it was Rump, but she had picked up a topside or something.

She might cook that today.

The Carvery gets busy after 6pm, it keeps carving for hours.

I make the curry then have a portion and then let it cool and fill a couple of the big plastic food containers they use in the chinese for takeaways, then freeze them.

I'm going to try one of the spud plants to see whats underneath, they are all in flower but you can get smaller spuds now I suppose, will leave most of them in to get bigger.

These copy cat riots are worrying, they all jump on the band wagon, they are targetting certain shops to get the goods.

Hope the house is worth waiting for, but it really is a nightmare houshunting.

Not a good forecast for you Emptybox, all this rain might get in your way.

Hope the car/van is ok

8 days till CBB.

I see they are saying Tara Reid is going in, another one for the lads.

Have a good day both of you, see you later.

Hicky

Good evening both

Emptybox

hope you got news on your car today, an d that it isn't too expensive.Goo job you got a bit of work done yesterday, let's hope the rain holds off so you can carry on a while longer. I didn't see that programme about the sleeping girl , sounds interesting.

Hicky

glad you got to enjoy the carvary again. Did you manage to get some nice potatoes off your plant yet? Good idea to freeze your curry for a later date. How are your latest baby grandsons coming along? Any more piccies for us?

I heard these rioters had visited the Wirral last night? Is that right? They did a bit of minor firelighting and looting in Cardiff. Not good, for all those shop keepers.

Watched The Removalist tonight...  at one couple moving with 15 dogs.

Then watched 24 Hours in A and E.... very interesting series, can't believe this is a true story of real people passing through this one hospitals A and E doors during a 24 hour period. It is set in a London hospital.  I think it was the last in the series and said at the end that  in the 28 days they filmed the department saw 9557 patients, 6 of who died, but most were treated and sorted by the dedicated team there, and they fixed them and sent them on their way.

Here, I spent about 12 hours in our local A and E when I was unwell, (most of the time waiting for a ward bed to become available), and they were really good to me.

hope you have both had a good day. xx

M
Evening.

Very wet here today, so I didn't get any work done.
There were a few lulls in the rain, and in one of those I took the van across to the garage to get them to listen to the noise, and to find out what was going on with the Jag.
They said that they hadn't been able to find any leaks in the power steering system so couldn't explain why the fluid level had gone down? The oil I felt underneath was from a leak in the automatic transmission system. They are going to keep it to fix that, but I suppose I shall just have to keep an eye on the power steering fluid level in future?
The van, they said they would have totake a belt off to see what was wrong.
As I didn't think the van was urgent i told them to fix the Jag, then we would swap over and they would fix the van. Sounds like it'll all be bloomin' expensive though.

I saw that Removals programme Mollie, then I watched Who Do You Think You Are with June Brown.
I've seen that 24 hrs in A&E before though.

Hi Hicky. I hope you get some good potatoes. Must admit I've had a good crop this year.

The rioting  seems to to have quietened down a bit for now, but the stock market is still going down.

Evening Emptybox.

Strange no leak in power steering, oil doesn't evaporate.

Pity the weather stopped you working

I was late putting the spuds in as I no where to plant them till I took the onions & Shallots out.

Will have a look whats under the plant before the weekend.

They do say that you can pick a few spuds out and leave the plant growing, that might be n idea.

Did you like the house pictures I posted in my llast post earlier?

They won't let me post them on DS till Midnight.

Good morning both

Emptybox

Such a shame you have these troubles with both vehicles, and it is going to be expensive to rectify, especially as you can't work without the van. Glad to hear your potatoes are doing well. Hope it is a bit drier for you today.

Hicky

i would of enjoyed your home carvery , but without the beef.   I love cauliflower cheese and roasts.

What great pictures of the BB house, thanks for posting.   Glad to see it looks like they have not been cheapskates in the design of the house. Let's hope they have also spent a bit of money on making the show tasks.

I am hopefull for this series, as they had just lost interest on C4 and it was going downhill, hopefully we will have some new enthusiasm from the new producers. Is the same Jeordie bloke commentating? I liked him.

Raining here so far today.

Brekkie time for me now.

have a good day. xx

M
Morning both.

Raining again here.

Thanks for the house pics Hicky. The house design looks a little busy?
I still can't work up much enthusiasm, but I'll probably get into it once it starts. Big Brother can be such a time thief, but I guess it won't be so bad if there's no way of watchinng it through the day? No temptation to skive.
Yes Mollie, marcus Bentley is going to be doing the narration as usual.

I don't understand how the power steering fluid could disappear? I suspect there must be a small leak that they just haven't found. He says the level hasn't gone down since he took the car in though? Must admit I'd never checked the level before, and I don't know if my Dad ever did either, so it might not have been checked for over 4 years.

You could probably pick some potatoes out, without disturbing the plant, but you'd have to be careful not to spear them.
emptybox

Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

I love the house pictures, wow, that takes some work to get it like that.

The HM's are going top be thrilled, wonder if they can see the pictures?

Surely they aren't locked up somewhere.

As Emptybox says, Marcus Bentley is on board again.

The Power Steering Fluid is a puzzle, I assume it would be checked on each service, or hasn't it been serviced?

7 days to go.

Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Yes the car has been serviced every year. The last one was in May. I did ask the guy if it hadn't been checked, but he was a bit evasive. I suspect they just do the bare minimum that they can get away with.
I always check afterwards to make sure that they have changed the oil and filter, but I never thought to check that reservoir because it's opaque. Unlike the water and brake fluid reservoirs which are transparent.
However i still think it must have leaked out though. I don't see any other reason for it suddenly starting to make a noise. I suspect it only leaks out when the car is driven though?
I'll just have to buy some of the right fluid and check it regularly from now on.
emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

It's been light rain all day here, drizzle mostly.

Went to the garden center for a look round, O/H wanted an ornament to go with another that is part of a set.

I cought a book on fruit growing.

It's an RHS one so they don't come cheap.

But it covers all the fruit trees I have which is great.

Also bought a Treacle tart thingie, strange name as they don't have treacle in them, it's syrup, which I love.

Strange about your Fluid, as long as you make sure it's the right oil.

Digital Spy enters the house.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv...e-blog-pictures.html

Hicky

Good morning both x

Emptybox

Now they have found the fault with your car, when do you get it back? Yes sounds strange that if you have had it serviced each year, this has happened, but as you say, you can't be exactly sure what the service covers. At least you now know you need to keep an eye on this fluid.

Hicky

That was a good idea to buy a book for your fruit growing, I am sure there is a lot involved in getting it right.

What sort of ornament did your OH buy?

thanks for the link. I think the house looks real good, nice and bright, and how it used to look a few years ago. Not long to wait till it starts now.

Glad to hear Marcus is still commentating. I really like him doing the job. But I am glad Davina left and Brian is to replace her. Looking forward to seeing Emma's show as she has always been a real BB fan.

OH has half day today, not sure what we are doing though, weather looks bit dicey, so probably won't be able to take dog out on beach, so may go out to shops.

Is it a work day today HIcky?

Need to do a bit of accounts this morning, not nice enough to peg my washing out though.

Brekkie time now though .cheese and tomato on toast today.

Do you still have cooked brekkie at work Hicky?

And how is the dizzyness now? Has it improved since you adjusted the meds? HOpe so.

have a good day both. Hope it is dry for Emptybox so you don't get behind work wise.

M

Good Afternoon Mollie.

I have loads of info on the fruit tree's but saw this one and it covers all my tree's including the vines and Figs.

Cetain ones get pruned in summer, summer and winter or just winter.

Been pruning the grape vines a bit this morning and you remove certain leaves so the fruit can see the sun.

The house looks fantastic the HM's are going to love it.

I got fed up with Davina in the end so new blood will be great.

Not working today, off till Monday.

Not sure what I am working next week though with a boss away and the mechanical designer away.

I still get cooked brekki at work, try to vary it more now.

My dizzy spells on lying down and sitting up again have stopped, so thats a bonus.

Off to get my meds in the morning so will have brekki in Morrisons.

Hope Emptybox can get some work done today.

It poured down earlier before I got up but haven't seen the sun yet.

Going to make a beef curry later, Thai green curry.

Hicky
Morning.

Raining again here.
It looks like it might dry up for a bit, so I might get a couple of jobs done this afternoon, but basically I'm already way behind.

Still no idea about the car. He said he would order the bits and fix the leak in the automatic transmission, so it could be ready by tonight i suppose? However it would be more useful to be able to swap over the van for the Jag. It would save a lot of toing and froing, and it wouldn't suit me to give them the van tonight, as I need it for tomorrow. We'll see though.

If the weather stays wet this afternoon I might do some accounts as well Mollie.

Hicky, I think I might have to prune some of the foliage from my tomato plants to let the sun in, because they are all staying resolutely green. Not a hint of any ripening yet, and I was definitely harvesting some at this time last year.

I'm not convinced Brian Dowling will make a good presenter at all? I like him as a contestant, but it seems to me he will get over-excited presenting, and his voice gets very annoyingly scratchy when he's excited.

Glad to hear your dizzy spells have stopped Hicky.

Evening Emptybox.

It's rained a little nearly all day.

Are you feeding the Tomato plants with Tomorite weekley now?

When the second truss has set you can remove the leaves from below the 1st truss.

Mine are still green as well, except for a few cherry ones.

Had a victoria plum off the tree, O/H had a couple, wasps had one as well.

You could do with the van fixing never mind the car.

Brian will be ok, we don't see a lot of him and the HM's are being presented on Entry by Marcus anyway, as far as I know.

Just made the Thai green Curry, looks and tastes good.

Hope you had a good day Mollie.

Hicky

Good Evening Both.

A miserable day weatherwise here.

Went to the Chemist for my prescription, then had brekki at Morrisons, then got Fuel.

Went to get haircut but too many waiting and only one cutting, so left.

Been trimming vines to let more Sun onto the Grapes, that's if we get any.

Got a couple of pictures of baby George.

He's about 7 weeks old.

They took him to the swimm pool, he loved it.

He was round here this afternoon, good as gold.

Hi Emptybox.

No Sun again today.

Went for a Carvery at 12.00 with O/H and her Brother and Mother.

Carvery was fantastic.

He has come down from London for the weekend, he'a lecturer in a Uni down there.

I've got all the gear to cut my own hair but always mess it up.

And it's only ÂĢ3.60 for them to do it.

It looks like Darryn Lyons is going in the house (Mr Papperazzi), interesting.

Hope you both have a good day today.

Work in the morning.

Hicky
Evening Hicky.
Glad you enjoyed your carvery meal.

It hasn't been a good day here either. Raining on and off.
I hoped to get my own grass cut, but no dice. There's a bit of sunshine now, but it's too late because I'm just about to make my supper.

I went to the supermarket earlier, but haven't done much else.

Not sure how you van mess up cutting your hair with the clippers, as long as you put the right comb on? I must admit though, that I have sometimes forgotten to put the comb on, and ended up with a bare bit above the ears. Oops.

I'm not that keen on Darryn Lyons. He'll no doubt try to be the boss in there, but it might be interesting seeing if there's someone who can get the better of him?

Mollie, I hope you are having a nice weekend?
emptybox

Morning Everyone.

Hi Emptybox.

An awful weekend weatherwise, outlook not much better either, can't see my figs and grapes getting the sun they need.

Couldn't cut our grass either.

I suppose I could cut my hair ok, not so good when you can't see it all though, and usually the neck etc needs trimming to keep it looking good for a bit.

As you say Darryn will be bossy but very entertaining I think.

Hope Mollie had a good weekend and didn't do too much.

Hoping it will be quiet at work today with 1 boss off.

Hicky

Good afternoon both

Hicky

Hope work is not too busy for you today.

Aaawww thanks for the baby piccies. What a cutie he is.   I like the trendy boots.

pleased to hear those horrible dizzy spells have stopped.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the carvary with your OH's family. We too went to the carvery on Friday. I had a yummy brie and asparagas pastry instead of meat though.

The Ozzie Mr Paparazi in the house..like Emptybox, I can't say I am a fan of his. But he is a strong character, so should be interesting, and I know he is a BB fan, which is good.

Emptybox

Hope you get to hear about your car today, and that the bill is not too much of a shock.

at no one in your barbers queue. I usually cut my boys hair, but one of them said he didn't like the way I did it last time , so his is getting rather long now, because he said he can't be bothered going to barbers.

Had a busy weekend, weather not too bad here .. been shopping, looking at houses from outside, walking on seafront and had an eat out at Pizza Express in Cardiff with our Tescos vouchers last night. .

We are all going to stay in B and B in weston tommorrow for one night...... so we can visit the sand sculpture exhibition and the air day shows there too. So won't be around for a couple of days.

Have a good day both, hope it is not too wet for you to get your work done Emptybox.

time to catch up with loads of paperwork and house jobs.

M

Hi Mollie.

Might get a Carvery tonight myself, atr home though, O/H bought another piece of Silverside like we had last week, it was super, you have to cook it for a long time but it's worth it, and we had what was left for another meal as well.

I think Darryn will be very entertaining, he's very outspoken and won't be messed about.

Enjoy yourself in Weston, should be an interesting exhibition.

Not sure what days I'm working this week but at the Dentist in the morning for the 6 month check up.

Supposed to be going to a 50th Birthday party Saturday, but one of my DILs & Son is moving house on the same day into a detached house in the next road to us.

Hicky

Good Afternoon Emptybox.

Not too good here today, been raining on and off, a few bits of Sun breaking through.

The Dentist didn't do anything, just charged me ÂĢ17 for going to see him.

Had brekki in Morissons which isn't far off.

Hope Mollie has a good time in Weston, will be ok if the weather is good anyway.

My Vine scissors came, theyare great, not as easy as it looks though trying to thin them out.

Have order some 'Plant Invigorator' it's seems like it's a good thing to safeguard some of the plants from certain pests.

It's a concentrate that you just water down and spray on.

Think the Red Spider Mite is hard to get rid of so I'll try this.

Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Glad you didn't need anything done at the dentist.

It was wet here up till 4pm, when the sun made an appearance, but by then everything was soaking wet.
I did a bit of ironing, but not much else.

Glad you are pleased with your pruning scissors.
Yes those mites etc can be a real problem on delicate plants.
emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

Did well not needing any Dentist work, didn't even need a scrape, and they stain with all the tea I drink.

It's not too easy thinning the grapes, have not got that many this year anyway as I'm just training the plants, but I've got some good growth on the main stems.

Think the mites were on the Fig tree's when they had them in a greenhouse well before I got them, don't think it's such a problem outside but I'll keep going to try and make sure they have gone.

Hope Mollie is having a good time.

Only a short time now untill CBB, getting exciting.

It's pretty quiet at work with 1 boss away so should have a good  day and get away handy.

Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Hope you weren't too busy today?

Dry but cloudy here, so I was able to get on with my work.

Thanks for the clip of the BB house. I was watching OKTV tonight. It seems they are taking on theBBLB role while BB is on.
Hope mollie is back in time for the launch.

Who Do You Think you Are was good tonight, with Jo Rowling.
