Hi Emptybox.

Not bad, ÂĢ144 taxable for 25yrs service.

I saw that about the Humax upgrade but the way our reception is it might get messed up.

It only took afew minutes to download and upgrade the boxes.

It was saying about needing a RS232 cable but I didn't anyway, it worked straight from the usb drive.

I was thinking of giving up on the Fig tree's seeing they are so hard to grow, but my O/H isn't keen on any more Apples/Pears/Plums or Cherrys because of the boring leaves.

It seems that the chaps just work 6 days and all have various days off so not to all be off together.

Pretty busy at work, could be worse though.

Hope Mollie is OK.

Hicky
Hi Mollie.
Hope you get on better with this new Packard Bell lappy. It is still a budget brand, but probably better than the Advent, which is Curry/PC Worlds own brand.
The plug-in it is asking for is probably Adobe Flash. It's needed for playing videos and showing adverts and some menus etc on websites. It's safe to click on it and install it.

The stone chip on the wind screen probably happened months ago? I don't remember anything recently. I'm not one of life's 'noticers' I'm afraid. My Brother is. He picks up on everything.

Glad the hospital has been in touch, and that you are feeling better as long as you are watching your diet.
emptybox

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Hope you have more luck with this Lappy Mollie, don't think either of them make Lappy's, they just buy some bits and put their name on it I suppose.

I'd only ever buy one make of Lappy or Computer so I can't really coment much on the others.

I assume you mean the number key pad that is on the right of the keyboard, that because the Dell probably has a standard keyboard the same as Desktop models.

It's the numeric pad for mathmatics & accounting.

Was quite busy at work in the end, never mind, that's life.

Hicky

Hi Emptybox.

I had to remake a load of invoices, have made them once and sent them off to the midlands, they then scan them and send that to india, unfortunately whoever is scanning them has got the scan set to harsh and it's scanning the background as well so you can't see the test and values on the page.

Had to remake them then convert to PDR then email to india.

I don't have a fave yet in the Apprentice.

My new razor came today and also the liquid that you put in the fountain to keep the greenstuff down.

Hicky

Good evening both

Hicky

sounds like you had a busy work day yesterday And hope the weather was ok so you could get out and enjoy your day off today  in your garden. Have you put the cleaning stuff in your fountain now?

Emptybox

are you all up to date garden wise so far?  At least we do seem to be getting some dry weather in amongst the showers. It was raining here most of the day, but has just cleared and the sun has come out now.

I too enjoyed the Apprentice last night. I too don't have a favourite yet though.

I read in my Heat that Chantelle has been seeing CBB Alex. I guess both being winners of CBB does give them something in common. It seems Jordan does not approve though.

Haven't been feeling quite so dizzy today, had pins and needles a little in bed though again, so must be careful not to overdo it this weekend, and eat little and often. I tend to spend hours in shops then get overtired if I am not careful.

have a good evening xx

M

Good Evening Mollie.

Had a good day today, went to get fuel, then went to the Chemist, went to the bank to tell them one of my cards can't be read some times, then to Morrisons for brekki, then went to the garden center to see the feller about the Fig tree, he said bring the trees back, they don't have any more Fig tree's though.

Will take tree's back tomorrow.

We then went to the Moby Dick pub for a Carvery, Wow, so good.

That's interesting about Chantelle, didn't know that,

You'll have to take it easy untill your pins and needles stop Mollie.

Hope Emptybox had a good day at work.

The shed should be delivered in the morning, hope so.

Hicky
Evening.
Dry but cloudy this morning, but heavy rain this afternoon.
I'm begining to get a bit behind now though. Specially as all this rain has given the grass a boost.

Glad you weren't too bad yesterday Mollie (I presume you saw your message from Olly in the dialog thread)
I saw that about Chantelle and Alex Reid. I'd forgotten that he'd won CBB as well.

Hi Hicky. Shame about the fig trees. Will they give you a refund?
Hope your shed comes OK.
emptybox

Good evening both

Hicky

glad you enjoyed your day off yesterday.

Did you get a refund or a chance to exchange for your fig trees, shame they never got going. Hope your shed came ok and that you are pleased with it. Was it pay day today?  Work day or day off?

Emptybox

yes that is the trouble for you , when we get lots of showers, not only does it make you unable to work, but the faster grass growth gives you a bigger work load. Hope you managed to get out today. Will you have bank hol weekend off?

Yes thanks Emptybox I saw the Olly mesage, and she successfully helped me get back on the Island.

It was dull and damp here all morning but we got a bit of sun in the afternoon. The wind is still very cool though. So my new floaty summer butterfly dress that I bought last weekend remains unworn as yet.

Was on phone for about 15 mins to tax office, trying to sort change of business adress out today. Still not done, so accountant trying to do it .

Like you Hicky we like the carvary and went there for dinner tonight. Very nice, I like the way you can help yourself to veg.

I tried not to overdo it today though, so didn't spend hours round the shops, and didn't skip meals.

have a good evening.

I am watching double Corrie, then Have I got News for You, tonight.

M

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

It's been a sttrange day here, was expecting rain all day but it never came, a little sun lots of cloud.

Shed arrived this morning, no problem.

Went to garden center with the fig tree's, stood them in buckets, easier to carry.

They reimbersed me the ÂĢ110, then bought the extra trellis section required for the vine.

Have ordered the new fig tree's online

This one:

http://www.gardenbargains.com/...5cm-10-litre-pot.htm

I like Chantelle, these BB girls never seem to find the right feller for some reason.

Not sure about Alex.

Yes Mollie, the sheds great, shouldn't take too long to get it up and sorted.

I'm off till Tuesday I think, that's 5 days, yippee.

On the Carvery I just get the beef, the colliflower and the peas with roast spuds and stuffing with gravy then put mint sauce over it, love that.

Saw the pics of Chantelle, she's always looked good really.

Not sure about her & Alex, I don't know a lot about him.

Have a good weekend both, hope the weather is ok for you.

Forecast doesn't look all that good for the near future.

Hicky
Hi Mollie and Hicky.
Not too bad here up until 4pm when the rain came on. I shall have to work tomorrow and Monday, if the weather is good.

Mollie, glad you managed to get back onto the Island.
Pity you are having trouble changing your address with the tax office.
Thanks for the links with the Chantelle pics. She looks great in some of them. Not so great in others.

Hicky, that was good that they gave you your money back on the figs.
Does the shed need to be assembled? I'm sure that won't present a problem for you.
I'm jealous that you've got 5 days off. My boss won't allow me the bank holiday off.

I was watching the million Pound Drop. There are some daft people about?
emptybox

Good evening both

Hicky

glad to hear you got money back for the fig trees, hope you have more luck with the new ones.

Hope you managed to get the new shed up ok.

I think Alex seemed pleasant enough when he was on CBB, so hopefully Chantelle will be ok with him, but she does seem to jump in at the deep end with relationships. I think Alex may have trouble with his past baggage (Jordan).

Emptbybox

hope you are not overworked this bank hol.

It was raining on and off most of the day here, and a cold wind too, so perhaps you didn't manage to get much done anyway.?

Sphag bol tonight?

Has anyone won the miilion yet on that programme. I only watched the first show, then saw noone got anywhere near the million, so I got bored with it.

The contestants for that hairdresser show look smart on that uniform. Do you get Irish tv in Scotland?  I used to enjoy some of the Irish daytime tv when we lived there.

Boring night on tv tonight, i am fed up of football taking over a whole nights tv yet again, the football season seems to be going on forever.

I bought 2 new tops today, still too cold for summer dresses. One was pink/white stripes, low top so can't wear it till it warms up and one was navy and warm hoody, so can wear that one.  I had to buy 2 you see, because it was buy one , get one half price. Didn't spend too long in shops though because didn't want to feel unwell like I did last week. So went for a nice capaccino with vanilla syrup and a sit down.

There was a big queue to see Pirates of Caribbean outside the Odeon entrance. Unusual in our small town to see that.

hope you both had a good day. xx

M

Hi Emptybox.

Very cloudy today, just a little sun.

The shed came in sections, have quite a lot to do, but not a problem really.

Just need less wind, but the wind drops at night.

Aisleyne looks good on that link.

Went to Costco this afternoon, found 1 off the 3 light street lamps I wanted, it looks to me like they didn't sell out last time, they needed the space so put the ones that were left onto a trolley and put them in store.

They were still on a trolley, just a couple left so got one.

It is 8'6" tall made from cast Aluminium, a beautiful model.

You can fit 3 ES Low Energy Lamps.

Just another Job to do.

Got 3 bags of blue slate and 2 bags of bark, and 4kg of braising steak.

Hicky

Hi Mollie.

It wasn't a bad afternoon here so I got a couple of hours work in. That's one less job for the begining of the week anyway

Unfortunately can't receive Irish TV where I am, so I'm relying on TV3 putting the shows on their website. Hopefully they will at least put a few clips up.

Yes it was spag bol night again.
I enjoy the Million Pound Drop because I like it when I know the answers to the questions. That's the reason I like all these quiz shows. I'm not that bothered whether the contestants win or not.
That's not to say that I know the answer to all the questions. Far from it. But I like it when I know more than the contestants.

Hope you get a chance to wear your new summer top soon.

Hi Hicky.

That street light sounds impressive. Very big. I'm surprised Costco had lost track of it.

Evening Mollie.

I sent my last post hours ago but it mustn't have gone for some reason.

Alex seems pretty easy going really, but with Jordan he had a problem, she was out of control really.

I don't watch the million pound drop, I think it is crazy and it's only on to get people watching advers, the show is a load of codswallop.

It's a time spinner seperating adverts.

Nothing on TV as you say, pathetic really.

I don't watch football either,

Pity the weather is too cold to wear all your new tops, it should warm up when it's summer.

Hicky

Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

It's been a busy day here.

One of my Lads had his 31st Birthday, they came here with their 2 daughters and his O/H is expecting in 16 days.

One of the street lams globes has a crack in it, trying to get that sorted, went to B&Q for some extra wood to sort the shed floor out, needs more support.

Cut the grass, did a few other jobs.

So many things to do.

Hope you both had a good day, I'm off tomorrow anyway.

Hicky

Good evening both

Emptybox

glad you managed to get a couple of hours work in yesterday, so you don't get too behind.

I can see why you enjoy the Million drop, if you get to know all the answers before the contestants.

Is it cold up there? It is still very cool here today.

Hicky

shame about the crack in one of the lamp bulbs.Hope you can sort it ok.

That is nice that your lad came over to you for his birthday.   Did they have Sunday dinner at yours? How nice, not long for another addition to the family. Does she know if it is a boy or girl?

It has been drizzly and windy and bleak all day here in the valleys, but when we went to the coast it was brighter and dry, and we had a lovely walk down the seafront with the dog. It was very cool and windy there, hardly anyone around, not like a bank hol weekend at all, I was wearing all my winter clothes, including wooly hat so i was fine, we had a hot choccy to warm up. The sea was so rough banging on the rocks, we saw 4 photographers with their tri pods set up taking pics. There was loads of this foam from the sea being so rough.

How good is it to have a decent nights tv for a change. I enjoyed Corrie then BGT, and am now enjoying watching The Hotel.

Hope you are both having a good evening. xx

M
Evening.
Reasonably good day here. Got my grass cut as well and went for my shopping.

Hope you had a good time with your family Hicky. Pity about the cracked bulb. Have a good day off tomorrow.

I might have a problem with my hot water? Sometimes I have hot water, and some days it's stone cold, even though there's plenty of fuel and the timer has been on for ages. I can't work it out, but maybe the thermostat is dodgy? More investigations are required.

Mollie, hope you had a good day?
emptybox

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

It's a fantastic 3 light lampost, it all either screws together on has bolts to fasten some sections, it will look so authentic, unbelievable.

Here's a similar picture from the US.

(Probably were it comes from anyway)

But of course our's are 230volt.

http://www.paradisegardenlight...an-120v-street-light

It's not the bulb thats broke, they don't supply them, it's one of the 3 big glass globes.

I will be putting E27/ES 9 or 11watt Low Energy Lamps in.

It's another Boy Mollie. not long now, it's her first though.

Not very nice so far this bank holiday weekend.

Pity you have to wear all your winter clothes Mollie.

Enjoyed BGT, some good acts this year.

It will be nice to see Simon back though.

Bad news about your Water Emptybox, you need to see if the boiler is calling for hot water or heat for the radiators.

You should be able to watch the boiler and turn a tap on, do you have the leds to tell you what the boiler is doing?

Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Ah, it's one of the globes? Hope you can get a replacement.

The timer is working, and the boiler is working, but it doesn't seem to be sending hot water up to the hot water tank. That's stone cold. The heating is working, I just turned that on to test it, and the radiator imediately heated up. It's just the hot water. I've got an immersion heater in the tank as well, as a backup, so I'm not stuck. It's just a nuisance.
Funny thing is, I had plenty of hot water Yesterday, so it must have just happened today? I'll wait till I'm sure till I contact the landlord. It might just be a glitch or something?
emptybox

Evening.
A day of two halves  here. A nice morning, then rain this afternoon, I got some work in anyway.

Enjoying BGT tonight, but seems daft that only two go through. It also seems daft that it's on every night this week. Seems like they are trying to rush it through? (I'm sure I said the same last year}

I'm not that bothered about the hot water, because the immersion heater will give me all the hot water I need, and there's a timer on that as well. It's also probably more economical than burning oil nowadays anyway.
I'll probably inform the landlord that it's faulty at some point, but there's no urgency?
The most important thing is that the central heating itself is working fine.

Hope you both had a nice bank holiday Monday?

Evening Emptybox.

Strange about your hot water, probably needs looking at, could be a solenoid valve stuck.

Thought BGT was good, crazy only 2 going through.

Had a funny day.

Started off being dull & raining.

Got a call from Costco that they couldn't find the other Street lamp set and that we better box ours up and returns.

We did that, we looked around the storwe to see if we could see the other boxed lamp that was there the other day.

Couldn't find so took ours to the returns desk, they don't mess about they just take it and give your the money.

We got the money returned the my O/H suggested we look at some shelving for the new shed.

We found some great shelving but would need 4 packs.

We bought the 4 packs which came to as much as the light ÂĢ120.

We arrived home and there was a message form Costco, they had found the other street lamp and put it to oneside.

We went back to ~Costco and got the lamp and checked that the globes weren't cracked, don't like the way they are packed considering they come from the US.

We arrived home and my Lad came around, we started putting the shed together, pretty simple really.

Once we had started we had to get the roof on and the felt on in case it rained.

We completed all that needs doing for now, I can finish a few bits thats left.

Work tomorrow.

Hope Mollie had a good day.

Hicky

Good evening both

hope you have had a good day.

Emptybox

that is really annoying for you that your hot water is playing up now. Sounds like the LL will need to get someone out. Good job you have the immersion though.Hope you can get it sorted soon.

Hicky

glad you got your lamp sorted ok. The lamps look lovely , remind me of something you see in a winter's Dickens street scene, in a street covered in snow.

I bet you are pleased with all the extra storage now you have your new shed up.

Was it work or day off today?

Had another busy day sorting the accounts today. Our accountant too have trouble trying to sort our change of address out with tax office. Hopefully it is sorted now though. Between the 2 of us we have had to spend over an hour on the phone to them!!

The kids have also got some assignments due, so have been helping one son on how to do an essay, because he has never done one before.

Then daughter had a panic because her lappy stopped working with all her final assignment work on it. Lucky my oldest is studying pc's, so was able to get it back on again eventually, then OH has arranged for her to take back up copies.

It was grey and damp this morning, but cleared up later so was able to take dog a walk, and it was the same yesterday. We saw 3 cute little baby greenfiniches learning to fly, they were on the ground, and at first were worried they had fallen out of the nest, but eventually they fluttered off.

I too am really enjoying BGT, but it annoys me too that only 2 get through, such a shame for the good acts that are sent home by the judges.

Yes very odd how it is all over and done with in one week.

I see Pop Star to Opera is back on Sunday, That too was a great series. Mylene Class was great on it.   I am not into heavy opera, and would never go to an opera,  but this was all pretty light stuff that I had heard of. And the pop stars did really well.

And it is great to see the good Corrie storylines on every night this week too, sandwiched nicely between BGT.

have a good evening both. xx

M

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Work today Mollie, very busy, never had a minutes peace really.

Have a feeling the first street light we bought had been a return, very annoying.

Some screws on a section inside were loose and should have been tight as on this later one we got.

Your daughter was lucky, she should always keep her work backed up on a usb stick/drive every day, you can't rely on any type of Lappy etc to keep hold of your material.

It's good to see Simon back on BGT.

Have a good night both of you, take it easy Mollie.

Hicky

Evening Mollie.

It was a lovely sunny day here, so i got a lot done, but I'm still quite a bit behind.

Funnily enough the hot water was working again today, so i don't really know what's going on.

Glad you managed to get a walk in, despite the weather not being so good.

Not quite sure why you had trouble telling the tax office your new address? I would have thought you just write to them and that was that?  Were they still insisting on writing to you at your old address?

I'm quite looking forward to that Popstar to Opera star programme as well. It was good last year.

I was glad to see the naked Britney making a comeback on BGT. But this time she wasn't naked. And she definitely couldn't sing.

emptybox

Good evening both

Hicky

was it a day off today, or another busy work day?

Yes it does sound like the lamp was a return , that is rather annoying that they wasted your time by putting it for resale without fixing it.

I will tell daughter to get one of those stick things if you can save yuor work on it.

Emptybox

well how weird, sounds like your hot water only wants to work when the sun shines. Let's hope it carries on working then, and the sun keeps shining..

Glad the good weather means you have been able to keep up to date with your gardens.

no sun here today, and rather chilly. Can't beleive it is June, I still have my fleeecy top on.

enjoyed BGT, shame the bellringers didn't get through. I thought they were good. nice to see someone a bit different, but I guess all the youngsters will be voting for the young dancer. I did enjoy the impressionist though.

Forgot to say, that a few days after I phoned the hospital to say I had not got my April appoitment with with my consultant surgeon, I got one through the post. I go in a couple of weeks. Luckily I am feeling a bit better now..., trying to ditch the diet for awhile and eat more calcim, and not run around too much seems to of helped.

have a good evening both. xx

M

Evening All.)

Not such a nice day, was expecting it to be a lot sunnier, .

Finished the shed off and made up the racking and it's fitted, put down laminate flooring.

Got some bits to do with ercting the streetlamp.

Ordered the Summer House from B&Q, get that on the 10th.

I'm going to erect a type of screen around the bins which will be at the side of the shed I've just built.

Hope you enjoyed your Popstar to Opera.

Britney was a letdown, she thought she should be more conservative because of the comments she had received, bad decision.

Hope Mollie had a good day.

I'm back at work tomorrow.

Hicky
Evening.

Started off grey, cold and windy here, but turned into a lovely afternoon and evening.

Glad you've now got your hospital appointment sorted Mollie.

Hicky, that's good that you have finished your shed.
Good idea to screen off your bins. I noticed that you needed that from the photos you posted.

Can't say I particularly liked any of the acts on BGT tonight. The circus one was probably best, but it was a bit of a lame semi-final.

The Apprentice was good, but I was disappointed that Ellie went. I quite liked her.

Don't think the heating was working properly again this morning? But the water was at least warm.
emptybox

Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

It looks like a nice day, it will be if I'm at work.

Not too busy really.

Unusual for 2 to get fired last night, but L.S knows what he's doing.

Neither where any good to him.

Didn't see BGT, missed it, had too much to do.

Then went to the chippy for some F&Chips.

It should be a lot warmer come the weekend.

Ordered a new Debit card as one of mine fails sometimes, they sent me a new card but for the wrong account.

Had to go back and tell them.

Hicky
Evening.

A lovely hot sunny day. A bit too hot for work really, but shouldn't complain.
Would have worked on a bit longer, but I'd neglected to bring any extra drinks, and i was getting parched, so I came home.

How typical for your bank to send you a card for the wrong account Hicky.

BGT OK. Interesting when the girl singer said that it wasn't her choice of song. I thought it was their own acts?
emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

Didn't see the weather till late on.

I had even put the card in their reader, but it got swopped in the computer and thought it was an ordinary account, but it was a business account.

On BGT, the girl said something she shouldn't have, we found out a little home truth, did you see Ant & Dec closed her down straight away and got rid of her.

We don't see what is really going on. It was obvious she didn't have anything to do with the show, someone else had messed the whole thing u[p for her.

I remember when my Lad and a couple of girls went onto X-Factor as a group, they just stood and sung.

For the next session they were told that they would need to be able to dance while they were singing.

They learnt a dance overnight for the show the next day, but didn't really have enough time to perfect it.

At the next audition they tried the dance while singing, after the audition Simon said, Pity you tried to do the dance as well, you would have been fine if you had just sung like on your first audition.

Bad advice again, so annoying.

Just seen Stacey on BGMT ITV2 10pm, she's not in the magazine though, back again in a Mo., yippeeeeeeeeeeee

Hicky

Hi Emptybox.:_)

They never got to the live shows, the dancing messedit up.

Put my street lamp up with my lad, it looks ok.

Got a load of stuff top take to the recycling place now.

Have put 3-off 11watt ES Low Energy Lamps, should get quite a lot of light equiv to about 160 watts.

Hope you have a good working day, hope Mollie has a good day as well.

Hicky

Good afternoon both

forgot to post yesterday, was helping son with assignment, and was glued to tv all evening, enjoying BGT and Corrie.   I thought the pensioner dancer had some good timing, good for him to have a go.   I felt sorry for that poor girl who said she didn't want to do that song.

Hicky

interesting what you said about your son and that show. I am getting very suspicious lately of the goings on on that show if the contestants are told to sing or dance when they know it is not for them. Not fair at all . I guess the producers know who is likely to win, or who they want to win , perhaps?

How lovely ... a summer house... i saw those in B and Q, think they look great. do you have a link to it. ?  I bet your lamp looks good in your garden.

The squirrels have been digging at the plants my OH put in our plant pots.   They are either looking for nuts in them, or burying their own in them, and going to get them out later. I saw one sitting on the plant pot for ages munching away.

Emptybox

sounds like your boiler must be on its way out soon. Such a nuisance for you whilst it is being tempratmental.

Make sure you get your water and wear your hat now the sun is so strong.

It is very warm here today, but I guess it is to be expected now we suddenly find ourselves in June.

At last I can wear my summer dresses.

Yes that was a bit of a surprise on the Apprentice that he let 2 go. Wasn't keen on that big headed bloke that left, so he was no loss.

have a good day. xx

OH's half day so we are off to the shopping centre , we will call in the Italy cafe with the delicious ice-cream on the way to the supermarket though.

M

Hi Mollie.

Summer house.

This picture is the same, mines not blue though.

http://www.elbecgardenbuilding...e-Lumley-Summerhouse

And mine was only ÂĢ299 but I get 10% off anyway, plus free delivery.

I'll show you a picture when it's fitted.

The Squirrels maybe digging up what it buried in the Autumn.

I found a few tree's growing in my pots, on pulling them up they had big nuts attached.

Will be testimng the street lamp when it goes dark, have to see what it's like, it looks fantastic.

Lord Sugar knows very early on who is anygood to him.

Don't forget the whole thing was recorded age ago wasn't it?

That's why they have trouble remembering what happened.

Will watch BGT tonight, then going to make a curry for tomorrow.

Am making a load of Choc Chip Cookies for the Food day in the local park over the road, will make some tripple choc chip Brownies.

It's on tomorrow from 1pm till 3pm.

Just remembered, went for a Carvery, was going to go to the recycle place in West Kirby so decided to eat out, it's so ggod, plenty of customers as well.

It was only about 4.30/5pm
