Hi Hicky.
That's a phenomenal amount of money?
Not bad here today, a bit cloudy this morning, but some sun this afternoon.
Got quite a bit done anyway.
Too bad that you were stuck at work. Hope you weren't too busy in the end?
Hope Mollie get's back in touch soon.
Hi Emptybox.
Was at work all day, think the one of the bosses likes me there when he's busy so I can do any work he wants doing IT wise.
Changing timing programs, the Engineers want you to plan the work out day by day.
Also had a reply form idia about some invoice payments I queried.
3 of them they said they have never received, I sent them months ago.
Hope Mollie is OK, a lovely week to walk around a bit, hope she's not doing too much.
It's really annoying when people don't pay what they owe.
In my early days in business on my own, I had someone default on over ÂĢ100.
Unfortunately the man lived in Newcastle, and got me to do the gardening in a house round here, that had belonged to his aunt. I had done the garden for the aunt for years, but after she had to go into a home, her nephew asked me to keep the garden up. But i was too trusting, and let him go too long without paying. And because he lived in Newcastle, i couldn't just turn up on his doorstep.
I've never made those mistakes again since.
At the mo I've got one person owing me ÂĢ5 and another owing me ÂĢ7 (from last season), but I've written those off, and it gives me a good excuse not to do any more work for them.
Hi Emptybox.
My wages went in the bank ok this morning after I faxed the list.
It was only a clericle error/misunderstanding.
I'll be OK next week with working 4 days.
I sometimes send out invoices for up to a quarter of a million pound, many for 100k but we don't get paid for 60 days usually.
You may find that those that owe you from last year have probably forgotten, you should remind them and go from there.
Not sure what I am going to buy this week, I might save some towards my Summer House/shed.
Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.
Cloudy and raaining here, not so nice.
Will have to go out for my TV mag and get some cash.
Might go to B&Q, need a couple of bolt/screw fixing for my door stops on the decking, it's for the French Window/Doors to stop them opening onto the limit of the hinges.
Made a couple of stops using a piece of 90x90 x 300 post wood and sitting it into a couple of post fixing bases that are used for Pagola's.
Just watched qualifying for the Grand Prix tomorrow.
Hi Hicky.
It's just started raining here as well. Very muggy though.
Just about to go out for my weekly shop.
Hope you get what you want in B&Q?
Good evening both
hope you are both well. xx
I've missed you and hope you have been behaving.
well I am back again, hopefully to stay this time, but can't be sure, all the paperwork is STILL being processed for our takeover of the net, and our phone line.
This move has been a nightmare, I will tell all over in dialogue.
I am looking forward to watching the dancing show on bbc1 , then Britains Got Talent tonight.
My health hasn't been too bad, throat still swollen but gone down a lot, been able to do a fair bit, but still get nausea and dizzy now and again if overdo it. (and get stressed with certain things).
I am going to try and read back now to see how you both are, didn't get chance last time.
be back soon, oh and will post on dialogue my tales.
have a good evening.
Hi Mollie.
Look forward to reading about your adventures.
Glad you are still improving healthwise.
At least the move didn't set you back in that respect?
Hope you manage to stay with us this time.
At last I have managed to read back.
Hicky
Wow, how good does that garden of yours look. You can tell how much hard work you have put into it. And hopefully you should also be getting some good fruit off your fruit trees before long.
Emptybox
What a cheek when you did all that work for that person who lived in Newcastle, and they didn't pay up. As you say though, you have learnt and won't be in that position again.
Yes, I did get to see the Royal Wedding. Really enjoyed it. I thought Kate and her family all looked lovely, so sophisticated and smart.Pipp's dress looked so good, and the littlies so cute. at the piccy Hicky put up wiht the little girl with her fingers in her ears on the balcony.
I have found out that Talk Talk use completely different ines to BT, so that is why we have had such a problem. Even though our LL used to have BT, because they switched to Talk Talk, BT charge ÂĢ130 plus and make you wait weeks, because they say you need an engineer out to check and re-instate the lines back to BT. And even when we waited the 3 weeks, they postponed at the last minute, and said that there was an external line, but there may need to be extra work internally, so that would be another wait, and some more money. At which point, we told them to stick it, and we would keep the LL's working line that was already in. So now we have to wait for the papers to go through, because the line is not in our name. The LL had tried to cancel weeks before, but they had not cancelled it.
But I have also found most other broadband providers use BT lines.
complicated or what?
Are you both watching BGT? I am enjoying it again this year.
I see we have had a home eded youngster on tonight, what a good dancer he was.
I bet you two liked the lady fire eaters.
I see we have the new Apprentice to look forward to , with 2 episodes this week.
We have had squirrelsin our garden. OH puts out nuts for them.
And we saw a stout walking down our cul-de-sac last week.
And we often get the sheep and lambs the other side of our garden fence.
I can sometimes hear owls in the middle of the night when I am in bed.
and there is a couple of horses by our back garden too.
So the animal life is lovely.
Shame about the humans though. (well a certain one)..
Hi mollie.
I've recorded BGT and will watch it later.
I read that there was to be a leather-clad lady violinist on tonight? So I shall look forward to her.
I'm not surprised you told BT where to get off . Just hope you can take over your landlady's line OK.
I haven't technically taken over the Orange telephone and internet from my Father, because i heard that they insisted you started again from scratch which would have meant a couple of weeks without service, which i didn't want. I just changed the payment to my own account and hoped for the best. But I might be on a sticky wicket if they forced the issue, because it's still in his name.
Sounds like you've got a similar array of wildlife to me. I see squirrels and stoats and barn owls, and the farm has cattle sheep and horses. Also there are buzzards over nearby trees.
I see you have made a post over in dialog, so i'll go and read that now.
Good Evening Mollie & Eïŧŋmptybox.
Had to move this thread back to IE, I had it on FF but now on FF4 I can't get the thread to work, layout screwed up and it won't let me post.
Good to have you back on Mollie.
Sorry to hear you had problems with the move and with BT.
Glad your swolen thoat has gone down a lot.
Loved watching Stacey on 'Sing if you Can' it was so good tonight.
Love BGT as well, some great acts.
Looking forward to The Apprentice again.
Made a curry this afternoon, Chicken Dopiaza, will save what is left, had a good meal of it.
I will check if youve left a blog Mollie.
If you can hear Owls Mollie, meand you window is letting sound in, if your double glazed you wouldn't hear anything.
Good Morning Everyone.
I have another grandson this morning, his name is Sidd and he came into this world at 3.40amafter a 40 minute labour, 15mins of that spent without a nurse or anyone.
He weighed 4160g, 9LB 3oz in old money.
Sun is out here but it keeps raining.
Congratulations Hicky, and to your son and daughter-in-law.
Mixed bag here, as far as weather is concerned. Some rain and some sunshine.
I think I'll have to do my monthly invoices this afternoon.
I think I might pop out and get some petrol for the car as well, cos I read we might have shortages next week? I think there are some protests and fuel blockades planned for tomorrow. Whether they'll come to anything, I don't know? Very unlikely to bring the price down, and will just cause chaos for everyone.
Hope you have a good day?
Hicky
Aaaawww a new grandson.
Sidd is a name you don't hear very often now, but I think it used to be very popular. My grandfather was called Sidney, but he was always known as Sid.
Your new grandson was quite a big boy at over 9lbs too.He will soon be wanting to join you all for dinner.
I bet your OH will be busy shopping in the baby department now.
When do you get to meet Sid?
I think they usually come out of hospital within 24 hours when it is a qucik birth. I did with mine, anyway.
All these littlies in your family will keep you busy.
Hi Mollie & Emptybox.
Just made a post and lost it trying to upload some pics.
His grandfather was called Sydney, I suppose it's come from that.
He's a lovely Lad, big enough anyway, his Dad was as heavy as that when born.
I'll post the Faceebook link first in case it doesn't work again.
Evening Mollie & Emptybox.
Was pretty busy at work today.
Weather not so good today.
Mother and baby home now, she needs plenty of rest, if she can get it.
Hope you both had a good day.
I'm off tomorrow.
Trying to find the right material to make a type of 4 sided roof over each tree tub to keep the heavy rain off as it will just wash all the goodness from the compost.
Hi Hicky and Mollie.
Glad Mum and babe are doing fine Hicky.
Mostly dry here, but a few showers. Managed some work though.
Booked an MoT and service for my Jag for next Tuesday.
Why don't you just buy some umbrellas for your trees Hicky?
Good Morning Mollie & Emptybox.
A beautiful day here, sun out in all it's glory.
I see The Apprentice starts again tonight, continues tomorrow.
It's got a different format, L.S is going into business with them and they will get 250k to start the business., it will be a joint venture which they will both run and share the profits.
Not sure what I'm doing today yet, want to see baby Sidd though.
Hope you both have a good day.
Take it easy Mollie.
I'm reading the blog as well.
Good afternoon both
Hicky
what lovely baby pics they were.
He looks a good healthy baby.
I hope the new mum manages to get a bit of rest now. Has your lad managed to get some time off work to help her out?
Hope you get chance to go and visit the baby today. It is nice to visit as much as you can whilst they are so young, so they can get used to you, and also because they change so quickly as new borns, don't they?
Did you manage to get something to keep the rain off your tubs?
At the moment when we get a shower, it certainly is heavy. We had a heavy hail storm yesterday.
I am looking forward to The Apprentice tonight. Hope we have some interesting contestants.
Emptybox
Glad you got some work done yesterday, in between the showers.
Hope the jag doesn't prove too costly for that service when you take it in.
My OH had pains in his head and jaw all over the weekend. Went to dentist yesterday, and it was one of his teeth. He had only been for check up weeks ago, and dentist had checked this tooth and said it was ok, but it turns out there was a small decaying area at back of tooth that he didn't detect until he did X ray yesterday. OH asked if just a small area of decay could cause so much pain in his head and jaw, and dentist said yes , it would do. All fixed within minutes, dentist didn't charge because he missed it last time, Luckily discomfort eased immediately, after my poor OH had to take max extra strong pain relief all over weekend. Shame it started on the Friday night when dentist was closed.
time to take dog a walk now.
then I have the VAT stuff to do.
have a good day both.
xx
Evening.
More showers this morning, but it was dryish and a bit windy this afternoon, so I got some more work done.
Hope you get to see your newest grandson today Hicky.
Pity your OH's weekend was spoiled by toothache Mollie, but glad the dentist was able to sort it quickly.
Looking forward to The Apprentice tonight as well.
Evening Mollie & Emptybox.
Umbella's would be ok but to stand holding it all through the shower would be a nuesance.
I want to put the sloping wood at low level on the tub at an angle around 45deg.
Looking forward to The Apprentice tonight.
Went to see baby Sidd, held him for an hour, he's so lovely, he was awake but didn't cry, was just looking around him.
He's in fairly big clothes all ready, they had bought all the usual sizes and he is now in the ones worn by a small baby afer 3 months.
My Lad has 2 weeks off so that's not too bad.
The baby is very good sleep wise, he slept most of the night anyway.
Bad news about your O/H and his pain, nothing worse than toothache.
I might buy some external 6mm plywood, it woood do the job I'm sure.
I only need to make one to try and get the pattern, I made a section out of cardboard and think it's feasable, I also need to cover them for the winter as well.
Have ordered a big shed for our food overflow, the bulk items we don't have room for in the house, at the Moment it'd all in the garage, but we will get shelving for the new shed, it's a double door one, 7' x 5' and just the size we need.
We did have a few showers today, nothing much though.
Have a good night, work tomorrow.
I enjoyed The Apprentice, but haven't made any decisions on them yet.
Trouble is, at the beginning of the series they are all so full of themselves, and so full of crap, that it's difficult to like them.
There's a few attractive girls though. The girl who was project manager is nice looking.
Glad you got to see Sidd Hicky. He must be growing at a remarkable weight if he's already the equivalent of 3 months old?
Not sure why you've got so much food that you need an extra shed to keep it in? Are you stockpiling for a disaster or something?
Morning Mollie & Emptybox.
Work again, anyway it looks as though it will be showers again now and then.
We need the shed for the overspill, when you buy in bulk items that dont need keeping in the fridge, when you shop at Costco most things are in bulk, toilet rolls are in big bags of say 12x4 packs, you need room to keep them, the washing softener is a gallon container, you can't keep that in the kitchen cupboard, also the vinegar is a gallon bottle, my gallon of pickled eggs, onions, etc, I could buy potatoes by the sack for a few ÂĢ's
The kitchen cupboards are now filled with tins of food that ccould be stored outside, we would only need to have say 2 of the tins in the kitchen, we keep a dozen timns of soup, it's just wasted space in the cupboards.
See what I mean.
And, if this shed is ok I might get another one for myself instead of the summerhouse one.
This is under ÂĢ200 and delivered free.
Hope you have a good day at work and hope Mollie isn't too stressed out with next door.
Evening.
Sunshine and showers again today.
Got some work done but the grass is now damp, which means it's more difficult to cut.
Wish it would go back to the dry weather.
Enjoyed The Apprentice again, but didn't think much of the 'apps' both teams came up with.
Even if I had a smarter phone, I don't think I'd have been interested in either?
Hope you didn't have to work too hard today Hicky ?
I suppose you save a lot of money buying stuff in bulk like that, as long as it's not perishable?
Mollie, hope you have got your phone and broadband contracts sorted out now?
Evening Mollie & Emptybox.
It wasn't too bad at work today.
The Apprentice was ok, crazy apps those, as if you would download either, strange people.
The Food shed.
It's just bulky and takes up too much room to keep in the house.
A lot of items we daon't buy at the moment either because we don't have room or because it might go off.
It looks like weather forecast is scattered showers, but with sun now and again.
Waiting to cut my grass as well, but want it to be quite dry first.
Hope Mollie has had a good day, no stress.
Good evening both
at long last I got all the accounts stuff posted off, and have sorted all the business insurances out. It seemed to take me twice as long this time, because having moved, I couldn't find the stuff I needed most of the time.
Hicky
Aaawww how lovely that you got to hold you new baby grandson. Fancy him being in the age 3 month stuff already. I hope no-one had bought him newborn size clothes. That is good for mum and dad that he is sleeping well already.
Glad you found a shed suitable for all your food storage. They reckon it is a good idea to have at least a months food in stock incase of things that might go wrong. The trouble is, when I do that. I tend to forget what I have stored where, and find it when it is all out of date.
Emptybox
glad you have been managing to get some work done in between the showers. Shame the ground is getting damp though if it makes your jobs more awkward. We still don't have the phone/broadband sorted. I am still using the landlords account. I have sent the papers off to change into our name, but it takes up to 28 working days to process. We have had a refund for the ÂĢ130 BT line fee though.
I too enjoyed the Apprentice. I agree , those apps were rubbish.
And as you say, some of them are still annoying at this stage.
Jim pulled a blinder though, getting Leon to change his mind on who to take in the boardroom.
have a good evening both. xx
Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.
A bit windy here today.
Some sun though.
Went to Costco for a few things, got a bug spray for my fruit trees.
Asked about the street lamp we wanted, they said they will be in on 28th June, hard to get hold of.
My Cooking probe came today, it looks super, you just tell it what meat you are cooking and how you want it cooked, ie Rare, medium, etc.
I tried it on a thick burger this morning, you can set an alarm that rings when the food is cooked.
5 year warrantee as well.
Rang the shed people, they don't have one in stock, will ring tomorrow about a different one, same except it only has a 10yr guarantee.
Have order a Solar Bird bath/fountain, copper plated stainless steel, 79x46cm, it will look nice in the garden
Went round to my lads to see the baby again, he had just been fed and was very peacefull and asleep.
They said he is very good at night and they are very pleased.
Good morning both xx
Hicky
glad you got to see that new grandson of yours again. Sounds like as long as his tum is full, he is content.
Your solar bird bath sounds nice, does the solar bit make the fountain work?
Hope you can get your shed sorted ok.
Are you ordering a full size street lamp?
No Emptybox yesterday?
hope his connection isn't playing up.
It feels very cool here this morning. And is showery, so back to the tumble drier today.
have a good day both xx
Morning Mollie & Enptybox.
Not sure where he is
The little one is very good, thats what you want, so they can get a decent sleep.
Yes, the fountain works whenever it can get enough charge from the sun, it will be interesting.
I've also ordered the Fountain Fresh which you put in the water, probably keeps the algi down.
Tried to swap the shed, same size to another one but they didn't have that either, will wait for a while to see what comes in, think they are very busy.
The street light is pretty big, probably about 8 feet, will need to wire it into my outside power system, shouldn't be a problem, can buy whatever I need from B&Q anyway.
Sun seems to have gone back in.
Am off to get my hair cut, a No. 2 all over, hate combing hair.
Hi Mollie & emptybox.
Have ordered some food from the Asian online shop.
Some Saltcod, Mango Pickle, Coconut milk& Dopiaza kits.
Made a Meat curry this afternoon, yummy.
My Saltfish should be ok for brekki.
Have been having Red Grapefruit once a day, we get them from Costco, very nice.
Had some Strawberry's as well, they came from the US.
Got my hair cut, No. 2 all over.
Was going to go to the garden center for a drive out but it kept raining on and off.
Supposed to be having a Roast dinner with my Lad and his lot on Sunday, got some chickens and beef to cook, will use my new temperature control.
Have it in use in the fridge at the Mo checking against my other electronic temperature probe, they seem to give the same readings anyway, which I am glad of.
still no sign of Emptybox?
Evening guys.
Emptybox reporting for duty.
Sorry I forgot to post Yesterday. I was installing a new version of Ubuntu Linux on one of my computers, and I got kinda absorbed.
Very heavy rain here this afternoon, but i got a bit done this morning. I'll have to work tomorrow though, if it's dry.
It's much colder again as well. I might need my electric blanket tonight.
Glad you got your money back from BT Mollie. Hope you get your own connection sorted soon.
That bird bath sounds good Hicky.
Not sure why you want a street light in your garden though?
Red grapefruit is very good for you, I think. My Dad used to have grapefruit everyday for a while.
No2. is the way to go. I give myself a No.2 all over, including my beard.
My potatoes are coming on fine. I earthed them up just in time for the colder weather returning.
I've planted my tomatoes out in the greenhouse, but they are not looking very healthy. They are a bit pale. Perhaps planting them in the bigger pots will give them a boost? You're not supposed to start feeding them till they've set their first fruit, and they haven't started that yet. Perhaps it's still a bit cold overnight in the greenhouse for them?
Enjoyed the Million Pound Drop tonight.
Evening Emptybox.
Wondered what you were up to.
Very windy here today, 20mph gales.
Got to B&q for some 18x30 wood to make some small frames for my rain shields for the tubs.
Not too bad here temperaturewise.lowest is 8deg.
I'm hoping the street light will light up all the garden, it will stand on the corner of the decking by the cherry tree and the Gazebo, I might need 2 yet, put draw strings under the new decking so I can pull wires through if I need too.
I've got a fe tomato plants outside, they were growing too big.
You should only feed after the second truss has set, not the first as far as I know.
Still no sign of life from the Figs, very annoying.
All the other plants and trees are doing well, and the vines are ok, 1 has quite a few bunches on.
Pouring with rain here at the mo.
Hope Mollie is ok.
Hi Hicky.
Not too bad here today. A bit windy, but mostly dry with some sun, so I got some work done.
I've just got back from getting my shopping, and I'll watch some of Eurovision later.
That was forward thinking of you, laying in draw strings under the decking.
You're right about the tomato food. It should only be given after the second truss has set. Mine are only just showing signs of setting their first trusses.
I'll put a couple outside as well, when it gets warmer here.
Pity your figs still aren't showing any life.
Hi Emptybox.
Not impressed with the Eurovision Contest, boring.
Jedward were ok, a few countries had a good show.
It's more like BGT than Eurovision.
Enjoyed watching Stacey and Keith tonight, but take an awful lot of organising those things they do while the singers are on.
Good evening all
Emptybox
at you being so busy with your Linux thingie that you forgot to post. Glad your pototoes are doing well. Good job it was dry enough for you to get some work done today, I know how quickly the grass grows this time of year. Luckily in this garden we have now, there is not much grass to cut. The LL paved most of it. Was it sphag bol tonight?
Hicky
shame about your figs still not showing any signs of life.
hope you enjoy your visitors coming over tommorrow for dinner.
I am watching Eurovision now too. I wasn't very impressed with Blue, thought Jedward more entertaining. I enjoyed BGT.
took dog a walk in woods today, the bluebells are out and look so pretty.
Evening Mollie.
As you say, shame about the Figs, don't think I will be having any nice Fig leaves this year, maybe next, it's hard to raise them here in the North West, a little too cold.
It will be a bit busy tomorrow, but we are used to it now.
Went up to my lads earlier, baby was having his tea, just called in to drop something off.
Enjoying the E.S.C. Jedward are doing well, UK doing better than we usually do.
Will watch BGT tomorrow
My hanging baskets are looking good, and have a lot of hanging baskets in the garden, not hanging, I have them in the boxes at the corners of the vine trellis.
Have a good night, see you tomorrow.
Hi mollie and Hicky.
Well I enjoyed Eurovision.
I missed the first few songs, so I didn't see Jedward performing, but they looked fun in the reprise bits. Blue were OK. Their song was good, but let's just say a couple of them would have sounded better had they been miming.
My favourite numbers were Germany and Slovenia.
Yes, I had Bolognese as usual Mollie.
Glad your hanging baskets are giving a good display Hicky. My dad used to go to town with the hanging baskets, but I haven't bothered with them the last couple of years.
Enjoy your family time tomorrow.
I've recorded BGT, so will watch that later.
Evening Emptybox.
Pretty miserable day here today, cool, some rain and some wind and cloud.
Jedward did ok, better than Blue anyway.
But the voting is crazy anyway.
Had a good meal with my lad and his lot
Haven't watched BGT yet, it's recorded though.
Hope Mollie has had a good day.
Good evening both
Hicky
Glad you had an enjoyable meal with all your visitors.
Yes, voting in Eurovision is pretty mad. I am not surrpised Jedward did better than Blue, I thought Jedward's song was far more catchy.
I think you will enjoy BGT. I did.
at your non-hanging hanging baskets. My OH had those for awhile too, till he got some soil. and he now still has some, because he needs to get new brackets, they are too heavy for the ones we have. So unlike your non hanging baskets that you want to keep as non hanging, hopefully our non hangers will eventually become hangers.
Hi Emptybox
Yes I know what you mean about Blue sounding better if they mimed.
Have you taken a work free day today?
It wasn't too bad weather wise here this morning, a bit of sun first thing, but by afternoon, it got cold and windy. We took son to drama, and it was so cold and blustery on the seafront, we had to eat our fish and chips in the car. They still tasted dead yummy though..
Does anyone watch C4's The Hotel on at 8pam tongiht? We have been watching this each week and it is just so funny.
have a good evening both. xx
