Hi Hicky.
A nice day here as well. A little cloudy at times, but not bad.

I got my end of year accounts done, and I've just come in after polishing my Jag.
It's looking very shiny.

Sounds like you'll just have to wait a bit longer to see if your figs have survived?
Bet your hanging baskets look nice.

Hope Mollie hasn't been too busy this weekend, and enjoyed Easter in her new abode?

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

A bit too much wind to make it a good day to sit out too long.

Glad you got your accounts done, bet you car looks good now, a spring clean eh.

Can't do nothing about the Figs yet, just a pity they haven't worked out.

The hanging baskets have false bottoms and a capiliary mat inside with a filling spout to top up the water level.

They worked fine last year so cleaned them out to use again, have put the bedding plants in, you can put 10 in each if you want,

They go out front on hanging brackets on the house wall.

Work in the morning, doing Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Hicky

Good Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

Happy Tuesday.

Not sure what the weather is like, it was dry early on though.

Think rain is expected.

Hopefully not too busy at work today.

Roll on 10am, brekkie.

Hope Mollie isn't too stressed out with the move, it's all go after one.

Hope it won't be long before she's back to normal.

Hope the swelling has gone down and you are getting back to normal.

I can see you being busy now Emptybox, are you just working 3 days this week?

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Quite a sunny day, but windy.
Got quite a lot of work done.

Yes Hicky. I'm working tomorrow and Thursday, then taking Friday off. I might have to work on Saturday though, if I don't get everything done on Thursday. It'll probably be OK though.

I see the TV is already gearing up for this wedding, with loads of programmes about William and Kate.

Hope you weren't too busy today?

emptybox

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Had a good day really.

Done some more oiling of decking, 2nd coat going on, will just do a small section at a time.

Then went to New Brighton for Fish and Chips on the seafron, fantastic it is.

The final night of Masterchef tonight, no idea who might win.

Had brekkie in Morrisaons this morning as I had to pick up my prescription.

Working tomorrow.

I was looking online at some Flymo Lawn Mowers, the 330 Compact Hover looks good, not very expensive, under ÂĢ100 anyway.

Hope Mollie is OK, be good to see her back here.

Saw the  Secret Millionaire last night, new series, so moving.

It was C4 9pm, had it set to record series so I don't miss any.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad you enjoyed your seaside fish 'n' chips.
How come there's a 'New Brighton' up near you?

You want to string out finishing the decking for as long as you can. You'll only get given something else to do once you're finished.
Only kidding

Quite a nice day here as well. Not too hot for work.

Haven't been watching Masterchef or Secret Millionaire. I watched Holby City then 'The Crimson Petal and the White'. It was the final episode, but had a very unsatisfactory ending.

Could be a while before we hear from Mollie, if she can't get her services sorted.
Hopefully she'll find a way to get online soon.

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

New Brighton is on the coast, opposite Liverpool over the River Mersey.

I have 2 rivers either side of me with it being a Peninsular, the Dee & Mersey.

I can get to either within 10 minutes.

I wanted to build a bridge over the grass from the stone area to the Gazebo decking but she doesn't want me to.

I need to sort some lighting out though.

Will have to see if Costco get this lovely streetlamp back in.

It will take a while to complete the 2nd coat of decking oil, I'll sort out the old decking next year, I've now got 20 litres of decking cleaning oil anyway with it coming in the pack with the decking oil.

Been reading the reviews on the Flymo lawn mowers with grass box, they all moan about how it doesn't pick the grass up.

Not sure what the ones without the grass box are like, is it ok to leave the cuttings behind?, they would be almost dust I suppose.

Not sure how busy I'll be today, but a load more orders have come in, and it looks like I'll be doing some invoicing as well.

Hope you have a good day & Mollie too.

It must be frustrating for her not to get on the web.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Lovely day here.
Didn't quite get everything done that I wanted, so I've got one job I'll have to do tomorrow afternoon or Saturday.

As regards lawnmowers, I don't think you'd want one that didn't pick up the grass. Even those flymo hover ones (without grass collector) leave lines of cuttings that would have to be raked up.
The only ones that don't are the ones labelled 'mulching' mowers. They cut the grass up more finely and distribute it more evenly.

I think a bridge in your garden might be 'a bridge too far' Your OH was probably right.

Sounds like you were busy at work today.
Will you be gardening tomorrow, or watching the wedding on the box?
Or are there any street parties in your area?

I'm going to watch some of it, but it hasn't really grabbed me really.

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

I'll look further into the Flymo, I rather fancy one without wheels, some collect the grass and even tell you when it's full, think that would do me.

Won't be watching much of the wedding, not that interested anyway.

No street parties that I know of.

Not sure what to do yet, I'll see what the weather is like.

Hope Mollie is ok.

Hicky

Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

A lovely day here today, the predicted rain never came.

I bought a roller for the lawn, you fill it with water then it weighs 30kilo, or 45kilo if you fill with sand.

Alao bought a Flymo, I saw a lovely one that looked like it would suit me, it's an Easi Glide 300V, have tried it and it seems fine.

It really chews the grass up then compacts it, it has a quick folding handle, is right and left handed operation, easy to push, easy to clean, great.

I saw most of the Wedding Ceremony, Kate looked lovely.

My Lad and his O/H and son came round so we all had some food sitting at tables on the decking.

Hope Mollie was able to see the Wedding, and taking it easy.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad you got the good weather, and have a lawnmower you are happy with.
Your lawn looks very flat already, but I guess a roller will keep it that way?

It was cloudier here, with occasional sun and occasional drizzle.
I was going to do a bit of work after the wedding, but the drizzle came on and put me off.
I'll have to work tomorrow.

I thought the wedding was great, and as you say Kate looked lovely. Her sister Pippa had a great silhouette  in her dress as well.
I thought it was a nice touch when William drove out in the open topped Aston martin.

Yes, I hope Mollie has her telly set-up and was able to take a break from sorting things out to enjoy it.

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

The grass may have looked flat but after years of worm movement the top becomes quite soft.

It needs pressing down some how.

I've only put water in the roller to get the 30kg but might put some sand in, have found a bag full.

I was expecting rain, they are wrong again, why they bother trying to forecast I just don't know.

Pipper did look lovely as well, quite a catch for someone eh.

That Aston Martin looked cool, wonder where they went to in it?

Hope Mollie got to watch it all, don't think she would have missed that.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Here are some more official wedding photos.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13248551

It was a nice day here.
I got my bit of work done, then did my weekly shopping.

It's still cold at nights here, under 5 degrees, so the grass isn't growing all that much yet.

Hope you had a nice day Hicky.

Did you play with your new mower?
I'll have to cut my grass tomorrow, I think.

Hope Mollie is having a nice weekend?

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

Another nice day really, pity about the wind.

The new mower works fine, it will do me anyway.

Put another coat on part of the decking, section 2.

Went to Costco for a few bits, love that place.

Got another 5 doz eggs, for under ÂĢ3 you can't leave them behind can you?

And 1kg of mushrooms, 2.75kg of bacon, dipping bread sticks, they are in packs of 6 boxes, a couple of 2 ltr bottles of milk, a 2 pack of fresh orange juice 2ltr each, lamb chops, belly pork, 6oz Aberdeen Angus Burgers.

And plenty more stuff.

BGT was good yesterday, plenty more acts to see yet.

It was good watching 'Sing if you can'

Saw Stacey on the Paul O'Grady Show, she was brill.

They all love her, that's good.

I'm expecting one of my DIL to go into labour at any minute, will have to look after the little lad then for a bit.

Hope Mollie is OK, be good to have her back.

I've got a laptop of one of my lads girls to redo, think she let it get infected with that program that wants to sell you a fake anti-virus to get rid of the problem it created.

It won't let us do anything to combat it, it has taken over.

Think I will have to start again.

Hicky

I got a message from Mollie, her Lappy has gone caputski, can't find the thread on this site.

Have sent a link, she has the internet back on anyway, yippeeee.

Sorted my lads girls lappy out, just restore back to Jan, then had to update loads, put Malware Bytes on and it found a file it didn't like and a few other things.

It's got MS Essentials on but it hadn't spotted it.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
That's great news that Mollie is back online.
Now all she'll have to do is remember her log-in details.
Be good to hear from her anyway.
I didn't think her laptop would survive the move.

That's a lot of food you got?
I presume you can freeze eggs? Take you a while to get through 5 dozen?
I only buy half a dozen at a time, and they last me 2 weeks.

Well done fixing that laptop.
Good luck to your daughter-in-law, when the time comes.

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

Maybe Mollie will have to get another Lappy, but she may be able to get on with the old one she was using.

It is a lot of eggs, you are supposed to keep them in the fridge relly.

Thae date on these is 20th May so they should be OK, if any of my lads call in I give them a dozen or so, at 5p an egg you don't mind.

Another DIL is due to have a boy next month.

Think I'll get to bed anyway, just got to sort the kitchen out and load the dishwasher.

Think it will be a nice day tomorrow as well.

Hicky

Evening Mollie and Hicky.

Nice day here, if a little breezy. Got quite a lot of work done.

Looking forward to watching 'The Event' tonight on CH4.

Mollie, I hope you can read this now, even if you can't log-in?

Heard the news on the radio this morning about them killing Osama Bin Laden.
I see Aisleyne on twitter is putting forward the theory that he died years ago, and it's all a smokescreen. But I think she's just trying to be controversial  so she can trend on twitter.

emptybox

Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Another lovely day here, still a 22mph wind though.

The Event isn't on toll 12.00 I'll be in bed long before then.

I saw Aisleynes tweet, don't think the US are into playing games, she must be thinking of Gaddafi.

Added some sand into the garden roller, not very easy with a 30mm hole and wet sand, don't think it's practable to try and dry the sand.

Will have another go another day.

My lad came round this afternoon, we had some grub, O/H put it in the oven.

Hope Mollie is having a good holiday weekend.

Hicky

Good evening both xx

hope you are both well, and have had a good bank hol.

I am back at last.

Getting back on here has been fraught with problems... after waiting weeks for our own connection and paying out ÂĢ130, we got nowhere, and are still using the broadband in our lanldady's name!! She ended up giving us her codes to get on the broadband, so we will be staying with Talk, Talk because it is them who have the phone lines here.

My lappy got worse, so I coudlnt find this place, because I forgot it was called gagajoyjoy. But ,managed to get my old lappy working for awhile so I could look here up.

The day of the move went well, but the rest has been so stressful.

will read back what you have both been up to, whilst I have been not around, when I get chance.

goodnight both.

xx

M

Hi Mollie.
Lovely to hear from you again.
Hope you are begining to get settled in despite all the various hassles?

We haven't been getting up to anything.......honest.

Are you going to continue using your landlady's connection, or get your own set up? It's ridiculous that BT can't get their act together.

Are you going to buy yourself a new laptop?

Have a look at Hicky's pics from his garden. You'll be impressed.
Look forward to hearing more about your new house etc, when you've more time.
Did you get time to enjoy the wedding?

emptybox

Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

It looks like it will be another hot day, less wind as well.

Good to hear from you Mollie.

How can Talk Talk have phone lines?

I thought all phone lines where BT.

Talk Talk just use them don't they?

Anyway, as long as you are back on, are you going to get a new Lappy then?

Glad the move went well, I can imagine that it was stressful, usually is, hate moving myself.

Don't think I'll be too busy today at work, hope not.

And as Emptybox says, take a look at my garden, the link is not far back.

I am still putting a 2nd coat on the new decking, it's worth it, also the trees and vine have a lot more leaves on now.

Hicky

Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

I'm working tomorrow now, have a timing program to do, 1 boss is away on Holiday so it's not too bad.

Had quite a good day at work.

Just watching Secret Millionaire, she is one of the richest women in the UK and is 7 months pregnant.

She has massive security around her, she can't see them though.

She's worth Billions.

It's been a lovely day here although I didn't see it till I got home after 6pm.

Hope you had a good day yourselves.

I've got a little fruit on each tree, don't expect much this year anyway, will probably take most of it off.

Seems to be a few bunches of grapes on some of the vines as well. but I'm more concerned with training them.

Hicky

Evening.

Not bad here today. A bit cloudy and chilly this morning, but a nice sunny afternoon.
I see they are predicting just 1 degree overnight?

Pity you've got to work tomorrow Hicky. Hope you're not busy.
What kind of fruit have you got at this time of the year?

Haven't been watching Secret Millionaire. I was watching that ITV police drama 'Case Senstitive'.

emptybox

Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

Not too bad this morning, after today I think we are in for some rain.

The night temperature will go up as the clouds move in, forecast says 12 or 13 deg till Sunday.

On the trees I have some Cherries, Apples, the Pears have fell off, Plums, Peaches, Necterines, and Grapes (white & black), not sure what if anything I will end up with this year, just training the trees mainly.

You need to train till they are 5 yrs old really.

Of course some being pruned in June (those with stones), while hard fruit (those with Pips) usually pruned in Winter when they are dormant.

Hope Mollie is OK, must be very frustrating for her having to make do without her Lappy and usual connection.

Secret Millionaire was great, that was only the 2nd or 3rd in the new series, it really is worth watching, and with me not really watching much fiction and this being real life, loved it.

Hicky

Evening Hicky.

A lovely day again here, but I think the weather is about to change for the worse.

Bit of a mixture for me Today. Did some work this morning, then had an optician's appointment in the early afternoon, then a bit more work.

My prescription has changed slightly, so I'm getting them to put varifocal lenses in the old frames.
That'll take about a week and cost ÂĢ120. Quite expensive, but cheaper than getting new frames as well.
I'll wear my work glasses in the meantime. They are an old prescription pair, about 6 years old. They're no good for reading anymore, but still fine for driving and telly watching.

Are you looking after next door's garden again Hicky? I'm surprised they trust you with their fish, knowing your love of seafood?

Don't work too hard tomorrow.

I was watching that programme about craniofacial surgery as well. I have recorded the Time Team prog on Boudicca, that was on at the same time.
I'm really enjoying having this PVR.

Hope Mollie buys a new laptop soon, so she can get on regularly again?

Hi Emptybox.

I've had Varifocal for many years now, brill, should get new ones really.

They can take a bit of time to get used to if you haven't had them before.

And you have to remember that you need to look through the center of the glass.

I'm looking after the fish again, but they don't get fed till I get home from work.

I was amazed what they could do operating on the skull and rebuilding it.

Yep, it's good when you can record a load of stuff.

I wonder what Mollie is going to do about her Lappy.

Hope she's OK.

Hicky

Yeah, that turned into a very interesting programme.

No doubt it'll take me a while to get used to the varifocals. When I first got bi-focals I found them easy, but you've only got two separate sections to worry about. My worry about the varifocal ones is whether it'll be difficult finding the reading bit, but i guess once your eyes adjust it'll become automatic?

emptybox

Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

With the Varifocals there isn't a reading bit, well I never found one, you can look at whatever you want at any distance and it's in focus, don't ask me how, but it is.

It depends on the angle that you look through the glasses, you just keep your eyes looking at 90deg to your face.

Couldn't get over the way they operated on the children, to bare the skull and remove it in sections and rebuild it like a jigsaw was great, it must all heal itself, fantastic.

Hope Mollie had a good day yesterday, hope the new place is coming together as well, it should be looking good now.

Hicky

Evening Hicky.
I'm looking forward to trying out these varifocals when they are ready,

Not too bad here. Cloudier and windier than it has been, but kept dry anyway.

I remembered to put my vote in for the Scottish election and for the AV referendum.
I see from Twitter that you're not too keen on AV?
I think it would be a good system, but looks like the 'Nos' are going to win anyway.
Looks like the SNP are going to win the Scottish election again as well.

At 9pm on BBC1 there's a programme called 'Inside the Human Body', and on CH4 at the same time, there's a programme about lottery winners.
Think I'll record the BBC1 one, and watch CH4?

ETA: Just heard that Aisleyne is on Wedding TV at 11pm, 'Celebrity Stags and Hens'. Seemingly it's a very funny episode.   (Freesat channel 400, Sky channel 266)

Hi Emptybox.

Been at work so not a lot of idea what the day was like.

I don't like Prop representation, I don't want to have to put a tick/number against someone I don't want to win the election, how stuopid is that?

If I don't want them to win I'm not putting anything against them.

The don't knows will probably win, but can you imagine how many and who would put their names forward, it would be chaos but you would have to put a number against their name to put them in preferance.

I'll watch Human Body, but it's conception tonight, not very interesting.

I'll try and watch Aisleyne tonight.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Under AV you only vote for who you want to win. You don't have to vote for more than one person, if you only like one candidate.
You have the option to put some of the candidates in order of preference, if you like more than one candidate, but it's totally up to you.

I think it's a fairly good system.

Some people might think conception was the most interesting part?

I just saw a wee clip on Wedding TV of Ash in a go-cart thing, so it should be good.

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

If on AV you don't have to put all the candidates in order of preference then there's not much point in it really.

I'm sure you have to put a number against them all, no point otherwise is there.

The Human Body was good, also Celeb Juice with Davina and Aisleyne.

I've got to go into work in the morning as the boss might not be able to get in and the wages haven't gone in the bank this week as noone has faxed the list over to the accountant.

So I've got to go in and do it.

They paid the money last week with the boss that does the Bacs being on Holiday till Saturday.

Don't know if I'll have to stay all day.

Hicky

Work again Hicky? That's 4 days this week, isn't it?
You'll be worn to a frazzle.

Glad you enjoyed Ash's programme.
I've recorded Celeb Juice as well, so I think I'll watch that now.

I can give you a 100% guarantee that you don't have to order all the candidates under AV, if you don't want to.
You can just put a '1' against  one candidate, if you only support one and dislike the others, or you can rank them all. or just the ones you like. It's totally up to you.

Under the current system you could have someone winning a seat with only a third of the votes in the constituency, and two thirds of the voters might really dislike that candidate, but because they were all voting for various other candidates, they couldn't do anything about it.
Under AV the winner must gain more than 50% of the votes in a seat, with first second or third choices etc, so the winner is far more likely to be broadly popular in the constituency as a whole.

Anyway, party political broadcast over.
Academic anyway, as the Nos seem to have won, according to the pollsters.

emptybox

Hi Emptybox.

Don't follow the logic then, if on AV you only need to put 1 tick then why would anyone tick ever more than 1, it said the one with the lowest gets eliminated at the other votes are split amongst the rest, whats the point in that?

Stuck at work, faxed the times of the workers through to the accountant at 7am.

Just sorting some invoices that haven't been paid, asked them why and they say they never received them, sent one in Jan and 2 in Feb and one was resent ages ago because it had an error.

Hope Mollie is OK and getting settled in.

Have a good day, don't work too hard.

Hicky
