Good evening all
I am feeling a lot better today thanks.
A day resting at home all day did me good yesterday.
I was ok to go for a short walk today, and to do a few things at home. Still can't pick up stuff off the floor or stretch my arms, without feeling uncomfy though, so still need help round the home from the kids.

Hicky
thanks for the Stacy link, she has some nice piccies on there.
Glad you got to enjoy a nice Sunday lunch out yesterday.
Hope you arent feeling too tired after being woke up so early by that helicopter. We too get that sometimes in the middle of the night. I suspect it is the police shining their light on the naughties. I can usually see their bright light shining on the ground when I hear them at night.
another gadget...., dont know about another room, you will be needing another house for them all soon.

Emptybox
yes that was a shame about that guitar player. I heard on tv they were puzzled what he died with. He had some alcohol but not excessive, and some food just before he died they said.
Lucky you managed to get everything working after that powercut.
We too had a short powercut the other night, but everything worked ok after it.
No surprise I guess after all these strong winds we have been getting.

Today the wind here seems to have died down, so we have not had a bad day weather wise.

I am watching that Royal Nay Caribbean patrol programme on C5. Quite interesting.

I too enjoyed the skating last night. Such hard work for them all.

Goodnight all xx
M
Hi Mollie.
Glad you got a walk in, and are managing to do light things around the house.

I haven't heard exactly how Gary Moore died. I know he wasn't into drugs or any of that nonsense, so perhaps he was ill? Very sad however he died.
He was only into the music. He came from a working class housing estate in Belfast, and was entirely self-taught, but he built a world class reputation.

I was watching that sci-fi thing on BBC1 'Outcasts'. Just my sort of thing.

I think tomorrow's forecast is better for me.
emptybox
Good morning all

Emptybox
hope you do get a better day weather wise, so you can get on with your gardening work.

It was and still is foggy here today, but at least it is dry.

Hicky
hope you have a pleasant day off today, and slept better last night, with hopefully no helicopters this time.

Siansburys is delivering my shopping later today, and they do not even charge for it, because we spend over ÂĢ100.

Will take dog out short walk later with family.

have a good day both.  xx
M
Evening.
A bit frosty this morning, but a cloudy dry day.

I got another job done today. I cut down a large bush, then spent ages digging the roots out. Phew!

Unfortunately the customer insisted on lending me some loppers, even though I've got perfectly good ones of my own , and I thought I'd give his a go out of politeness, and the first branch I tried the handles on his just bent and then snapped when I tried to bend them back.
They were just made out of thin aluminium, and no use at all. He didn't seem too bothered, and just said "I thought they might do that". Silly b*gger.
He still paid me though, so it was all good.

Still having trouble with these wireless phones. The internet was off again this morning, and the router wouldn't reboot properly until I disconnected the phones. I'd already tried a different broadband filter, so I don't think it was that?
I think the powercut damaged the phones in some way (and perhaps the router as well?). They are working again at the mo, but I'll have to keep an eye on them.

Hope you got your shopping delivered OK Mollie, and got a walk in?

There's the second episode of 'Outcasts' on BBC1 at 9pm. I'll enjoy that.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.

Roots are such a pain to get out.
And cheap loppers don't pay, it takes a good set, and they are pretty expensive, like the look of those that ratchet through the branch, makes it a lot easier.

The equipment can be damaged by power cuts, but if it works later then it wasn't damaged.

Got quite a lot done today, very Sunny so had a go.
Took my rope lights out and wrapped them till next year.
Put all the leaves from the front into the garden refuse bin, they collect tomorrow.
Moved my Fig tree's ready for when the new 3mm support wire comes, it's been disbatched anyway.

Made a Lamb Curry for tea, had some Lamb Neck Fillet so used that, yummy.
One of my lads and his G/F just called round, had the 20 week scan, the baby is a boy, that means 2 of my lads G/F's are expecting boys now.
Hicky
Good evening both
Emptybox
glad you got out to some gardening work today.
at that customer giving you his weak cutters to use.
Nuisance that the power cut is still giving problems. Hope you can sort it out ok.

Hicky
good job you had the nice weather so you too could get out in the garden. Sometimes I think you are busier on your days off than your work days.
2 new baby boys in the family soon, how sweet.

I too watched Gypsy Wedding and I watched Gok before that.
Yes Hicky, a tv mag does help stop you miss any good programmes, I get the Heat delivered each week, sometimes they recommend shows i would not of noticed, so I dont miss out on them. I paid for my annual subscription for it with Tescos vouchers.
Daughter got a subscription for National Geographical with some of the Tescos vouchers.

Goodnight both xx
M
Hi Hicky and Mollie.

You got a lot done Hicky.
I still think something has happened to my equipment, because of the powercut, I just haven't put my finger on it yet.
It's great that your extended family is going to be extended further.

Hi Mollie.
You must be Tesco's best customer, with all those vouchers?
A pity you can't pay for your weekly shop with them.
emptybox

Good Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

I didn't see Gok last night, there wwas quite a few programs on at the same time, was going to watch all 'Shameless' but just saw a bit then did the kitchen, put the wheelies out and bed.

We don't shop at Tesco's, just get the 'Nectar' vouchers from Sainsbury's, also with our Fuel.

It was quite warm yesterday, took a couple of puffs of the inhaler, I was fine in the garden, didn't stop to sit and rest once and wasn't short of breath, that makes a change.

Ordered some stuff online from a Asian food store, been trying to get Mango Pickle for ages and haven't been able to, saw some, also they had some Saltfish, only 225g packs but I'll try, I had Saltfish Last Saturday & Yesterday, it's so good with Bacon and pouched eggs.
If I can get to Birkenhead while I'm off I'll get some more, it does say that you should soak it for 48 hrs, but these days they say 24 hrs, it probably depends on how thick the fish is.

Better get some work done, don't really start till 8am, been here since 6am.

Hicky
Evening.
a damp, drizzly day here. Didn't get any work done.

Glad that inhaler seems to be working for you Hicky.
You keep going on about this "saltfish", but I can't say I've ever heard of it, apart from you?
The name kind of puts me off.

Had  more internet woes today. In fact I was offline for about 6 hours from 2pm to 8pm.
I'm now thinking that it isn't my equipment at fault? I disconnected the phones, and that didn't help, I tried my spare router, and that couldn't get online either. Then it came back on of it's own accord.
I think it must be the ISP, or a fault on the line?
If it keeps happening I'll need to phone up Orange, although I hate doing that, because it's such a struggle to get anywhere with these stupid call-centres.

Watched that programme on BBC2 with Neil Oliver about Ancient Britain.
There seems to be a lot of these sort of programmes on TV at the moment. Not that I'm complaining.
emptybox
Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

Lovely hwere today, no rain, wind, Sun and it's warm, ideal for the garden.
Been putting my new 3mm plastic cord up for the Fig fan tree.

This is a bit about the Saltfish Emptybox, it's fantastic.
Someone was saying on another forum that they batter it after its de-salted and dried, must try that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dried_and_salted_cod

or see here.

Hope Mollie's having a good day today.
Hicky
Good evening all
Hicky
So glad to hear that puffer helped you keep breathing well during your gardening.
We collect Nectar points as well when Sainsburys delivers my weekly shopping, but because Sainsburys is a fair way from us, we tend to use Tescos for petrol and other shopping.
Like Emptybox, I hadnt heard about saltfish either. I will look at your links now.
How come you get to work for 6am,  if you dont start till 8am?Is it to avoid the traffic?  I take it they dont pay you for that extra 2 hours, so do you get to unwind and read your paper?

Emptybox
what a nuisance your connection is still playing you up, I know how long winded it can be to sort out when you have problems. Hope you can sort it out soon.
Was it any drier for you to get out and get some gardens done today?
It was fine and dry most of the day here, but started to rain when it got dark.

Glad you got a nice day weather wise for you to get in your garden today Hicky. When are you able to get the figs off your tree?

I had a bad head all day yesterday on and off, so had to keep off the lappy. I had slept uncofmy on my neck the night before, but was fine today, which was lucky becasue I had to catch up with all the vat paperwork today. The swelling in my neck is starting to go down a little now.
I am right now eating a really nice slice of lemon pie with mascopone cheese.

I am going to watch Justin Collins soon.

have a good evening all
hope Emptybox manages to get oniine later.
M
Evening Mollie,

Glad you swelling in you neck is going down, it all helps you get back to normal.
Sorry your getting these head aches.
Lemon pie with nascopone cheese sounds delish.

Watching Americal Idol audition stage. There's not a lot of traffic on the road at 5.30 so have an easy passage through.

If I get to work early I can get the cups washed sort the emails,
Then get online after I boil the kettle and make tea.
Hicky
Evening.
It was a nice dry day here as well, but it's below zero tonight.

Have been having terrible trouble with the internet again tonight.
The stupid thing is that I tried rebooting the router, which had no effect, then I disconnected my phones and rebooted again, and the internet came back on. Whereas yesterday that had no effect, and it came back of it's own accord.
I just can't work out if the problem is with my equipment, or with Orange, and there's no point phoning the helpline if it turns out to be my phones causing the problem.
Even though I can't get on to the internet, the link light on the router stays steady, and accessing the configuration page says I have a good broadband speed. So i think the line is OK.
It's driving me nuts.
I think if it goes again I will take my wireless phones off and leave them off, then at least I can eliminate them as the problem. I've an old white phone I can connect instead so the phone will still work. It's just so frustrating.

Thanks for the saltfish links Hicky. Still sounds a bit unappetising to me, but as long as you and thousands of Norwegians like them, they must be OK.

Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday Mollie. Hope you were OK doing the VAT paperwork.
Lemon pie sounds yummy.

I watched Human Planet, then Rome Wasn't Built in a Day, then Celebrity Juice.

Maybe see you tomorrow, if my connection allows.
I can access some things through my mobile, but this site doesn't seem to work properly unfortunately.
But Twitter is OK, so if I'm not here, I'll speak on Twitter.

Good Morning Emptybox.

It's strange whats going on with your Modem, don't think there's a problem between the modem/router and the isp, it must be your house end thats not right.

Your wireless phones are plugged into the normal phone line aren't they, so the master is a normal Anologue connection.
Will non of your Puters talk to the internet via the router, can you narrow it down to one device or is it everything connected to the router thats effected?
Have you tried using a different modem/router or have you only got one?.
I keep about 4 different ones so I can change over if one plays up.

I'm out with the company this afternoon, my O/H is going to drop me off in Liverpool to meet up with them at 2.30.
So I haven't eaten today yet, will get a cup of tea now though.

Hope Mollie is OK, if she's getting this glorious weather like here.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.
I'm still online at the moment.
Hope you enjoy your meal out with the company later.
Those quote buttons will be a boon.

I've got a spare router, and that can't get on the internet either (when it goes off). Also all my computers, wired and wireless, can't connect, but they can all still see each other on the network.

The reason I think it might be the ISP at fault, is if I right click the network icon and click 'Troubleshoot', with the Orange Live-Box connected it comes back with the error message "Your modem has connectivity issues", but with my own router connected, it comes back with "DNS server unavailable". Also there always seems to be broadband on the line, so it might be one of Orange's servers down, or it might be a more local problem at the exchange?

Or it might be something to do with my wireless phones? A BT engineer once told me that if one phone on your network is faulty it can knock the whole network out.
Don't see how the phone could affect the broadband if the filter is working properly, and as I said, I've tried swapping the broadband filter, but you never know?

I made an interesting discovery. You can connect a phone to the Orange Live-Box router, and that allows you to make calls free over the internet. However when I couldn't get on the internet, I found I still got a dial tone on this phone, but it was going through the normal phone line rather then the internet? But I think that's always been the case, even when things were working properly, I found that phone had a dial tone while I was re-booting the router.
Not sure what all that means? Except that perhaps a faulty phone could affect the broadband?

Anyway, it might be a long drawn out process to find out what is wrong, but it's all working at the mo.
(Apologies for going on about this stuff, but it helps to talk it out rather than shouting at the walls, although I do a bit of that too.  )

Dull, damp morning here. I might go out later if it clears up. Or I might go and do my shopping.
emptybox
Good Evening Emptybox.

Had a great afternoon, went to a big pub in Liverpool only drank coke but had a lovely Rib Eye steak with pepper sauce,
I left the place after the meal as they are going to be going all night and I didn't fancy that.
The boss got me a Taxi and slipped the driver some dosh to get me home.
I was going to get the train and then my O/H from a local station.
She dropped me off outside the place at 2.30 which was handy for me.

Not sure about your phones, a phone working on the wires is usually an Anologue one, even your wireless ones are connected to a normal line.
You can get phones that work on the digital system of a modem, they have a special phone number as far as I know, whereas the Anologue one uses the house phone number of the Anologue line.

Hope Mollie is OK.

Did I say, my Asian Foodshop delivery came from Parcelforce.
A do it yourself curry, Dopiaza, just add your own meat or veg.
My Jars of Mango Pickle, will give one to my lad.
And 4 packs of Saltfish, got 2 in the water now for the morning, they aren't fillets but look very tasty.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Glad you had a nice meal.
Probably wise not to make a night of it?
Glad your food parcel arrived OK.

You can just connect any old phone to the Orange Livebox to use as an internet phone. You get issued with a special number, and the calls are free to other Orange users.

We set it up a couple of years ago using the old white phone I mentioned earlier, and it worked fine for a few months then just stopped working for whatever reason. That's when I started wondering if the Livebox was working properly.
I've just kept the phone connected to it though, and noticed it only had a ringtone while the router was booting up, then cut out when it was fully booted.
Don't think that's part of my present woes though, because my spare router (Zoom) couldn't connect either.

Anyway, all still well just now, fingers crossed.

Enjoyed watching Phil down under again, then a programme on BBC2 about writing wills (surprisingly good). Now I'm watching  the Million Pound Drop.

I see President Mubarak has gone. I guess that's probably a good thing, but it's too early to tell IMO.

Hope you've had a good day Mollie.
emptybox
Good evening all
Hicky
Glad to hear you had such a nice meal out. Don't blame you not staying all night, that would be very tiring. Good to hear your boss looked after you taxi money wise too. Gosh that is a lot of food you had delivered. Hope you didnt eat it all after your meal out.

Aaaww Emptybox
poor you, having such trouble with your internet and phone. Makes you wonder if it was the power cut that set it off now, or if that was just co-incidence. Don't apologise for telling us about it, we are interested. I just wish I was able to offer you some advice, but know nothing about anything to do with that. Just hope you can sort it ok.
Did you go shopping or manage the gardening today?

We had some sun early on, then it rained later.

I forgot to watch Celeb Juice, but I too like Holly and Fern. I think Fern's clothes range is really nice. I watched Ancient Britain too the other night Emptybox. I too noticed they seem to have a lot of these type of shows on recently. But I enjoy them.

Tonight I watched double Corrie, and Phil on the  Gold Coast, that was our fave place in Oz. Did you see how well the British chippie is doing there?  Thy guy had imported all the epuipment from here and imports all the food too, (except potaotes). I am not suprised it is doing well, the Ozzie chip shops were awful.

I managed to finish all the paperwork today, and OH has posted it. Thank goodness for that. Luckily my neck hadn't given me a headache today, I am hoping the headaches improve as the swelling goes down.

Nearly sleep time now, but will have a read of my mags first.

goodnight all xx
M
Hi Mollie & Emptybox.

I watched phil down under, some lovely houses there, wow, the size.

Saw the million pound drop, still think the only way to win is if you guess the 8 questions right.

Glad your neck seems to be getting better, it all takes time.

Must go and change the water on the fish, it seems a thick piece with bone in, which doesn't bother me, if it's ok and I see no reason why it shouldn't be I'll order more, the 225g pack is only ÂĢ3.99 which is a reasonable price for fish these days and it's packed in Grimsby further up the coast.

I might get some more wood for more decking work tomorrow.
Hicky
Afternoon Hicky and Mollie.

It's been a sunny morning here too, but the rainclouds seem to be rolling in now.

I had a cooked brekki too. Just bacon, egg and black pud.

I'm going to try to sell an item on Ebay later.
I bought a couple of silicon skin cases for my Blackberry, but they turned out to be for the wrong model, and didn't quite fit. I've since bought the right one, but I thought I'd sell the others on Ebay and try to recover some of the money. Unfortunately there are so many of them on Ebay, that they may not sell.
I've sold a few things before, but not for a while. It's quite fun though.
I'll put the link on the Dialog thread when I've composed the advert.

Still on the internet.

Hi Emptybox.

Trying the 'With Quote'.

Good luck on Ebay, it depends who sees yours I suppose.
And of course if anyone is in the market for them.

I went to B&Q, got 10 joists & 10 decking planks, about all I can fit in really as they are 2.4m long.

Sprayed the vines and fruit trees with a mild jeyes fluid to kill wintering insects/bugs.
It was such a lovely day really, have stood all the wood up against a fence to dry, hate the way B&Q stores most of the decking wood outside.

Just made a stirfry with mini duck fillets marinated & sliced and cooked in Satay paste, fried with onion, mushroom and veg rice, tried the new Mango Pickle, it's heaven, going to give my lad a jar, will have to order more jars as well.

Hope Mollie had a good day and got some of the Sun if it was there.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.
I've put the Ebay link on the Dialog thread now.

I didn't get rain after all, but the afternoon was rather cloudy

That's sounds like a delicious stir-fry.
Spag bol for me tonight.

I suppose I should think of spraying my fruit trees for the winter, but I never get any fruit off them anyway.
I've got a cherry tree and a crab apple. I do get some blossom and small fruit, but nothing edible.

I don't think much of that quote box TBH, it's too prominant.

Hope you have had a good day Mollie.
emptybox
Evening Emptybox.

I'll take a look at the link in a Mo.
I just sprayed the vines and tree's in case they had any nasties hiding in the bark or anywhere really.
Had the spray and the fluid so may as well use it
Wonder why you don't get any fruit off the cherry and the crab apple, maybe they are the wrong type for the area?

They will probably change the colour of the Quote box, it's all on trial I would have thought.
Hicky
Good Evening Everyone.:-)

I suppose you don't have a lot of options with the mobile case, but not to worry, you may get something for it.

Made a lovely roast dinner with belly pork, crackling was nice, and roasties and cabbage.

Had a little wind out this morning then it rained so didn't bother working outside.

I've got the Dentish Tuesday morning, 6 monthly check up.
Will have to make an appointment for the Doctors next week to see the results of the Xray.

Work tomorrow.

DOI tonight plus the Bafters at 9pm, will have to record Top Gear I yhink.

Hope you've all had a good day.
Hope your OK Mollie.
Hicky
Good evening both xx
Glad to hear you both too got the nice sunny weather yesterday.
Yes that quote box is a bit bright.

Emptybox
good luck with your sale on E bay, I will go and have a look at it next.
Shame you dont get any fruit from your trees.
I love cherries. I notice they are in the shops again. I got a box with my shop. Very nice they are too.

Hicky
Sounds like you have a fully loaded car from B and Q yesterday.
Plenty to keep you going outside when it is nice and sunny.
Glad you enjoyed your roast today. Was it just you and OH , or did the family come over?
Good luck at the dentist, and good luck with the results at your docs.

I am looking forward to DOI tonight, I always feel sorry for the one that leaves though, it looks like they work so hard all week.

We too had a sunny day yesterday, so we went to Barry for a walk with the dog. However I overdid it. I felt sick, headachy and very tired when I got home, so just had to rest. Felt better today, so stayed in this morning, and only went for a short walk in the seafront this afternoon. I am at last starting to eat a bit better, but have to be careful what I eat, because my throat and neck t is still qute swollen. Had jacket potato/beans/cheese for tea... mashed it up and left the skin, but it was still yummy.

Have a good evening.
Wonder who will leave DOI tonight?
Last week, I watche a programme about people making their own supermarket on C4, it starts at 8pm, so some overlaps with DOI, so i watched half of it on plus 1 .It was interesting, called The Peoples Supermarket.
M
Hi hicky.
Rain all day here.

I'm jealous of your lovely roast dinner.
I had a hard-boiled egg salad for lunch, not sure what to have for supper?

Sounds like you might need to see the "Dentish"?
Hope the X-ray results are OK.

Some good stuff on TV tonight.
I'm going to do a bit of ironing now, and listen to Aisleyne on Radio 1Xtra.

ETA: Hi Mollie, your post popped up behind mine.
Glad you had a nice time in Barry, but it must be frustrating feeling bad afterwards.
Hopefully things will keep improving.

I haven't seen that show on CH4. Sounds interesting.

Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Watching DOI, Bafters on at 9pm, recording Top Gear, will see if I can record that program Mollie on C4+1 at 9pm.

Had the meal early, my lad and his family and other son go out Sunday afternoon, then usually eat out, they come back to ours for 6pm.

Glad your able to get out Mollie, don't try to do too much at once.
You Jacket Potato meal sounded good, at least you can get some good food down, that's the main thing.

You like my Dentish then
It's a bit like a Dentist but it's a Hamish one.
Hicky
hi both xx

yes too much good stuff on tv tonight, but all at the same time.
I guess it is better than too much rubbish though, just wished the good shows were on different nights though.

It rained nearly all day here too today Emptybox. It did dry in time for us to take short walk late afternoon though.  Just a short and no uphill walk for me today though.
Hope you got your ironing all done ok. Do you watch tv when you iron? I do. But have to be careful to concentrate enough. What was Ais on radio 1 for?

Hope you enjoyed seeing your visitors tonight Hicky.
M
Hi Mollie.

It's been hard to juggle the programs tonight, will have to see what I recorded another day.

Work in the Morning.

Enjoyed the DOI but someone has to leave.
The ones I wanted to stay in did anyway.

Sorry to hear it rained by you all day, it did here, but didn't start till after 12am but enough to stop me working in the garden, but there's another day.
Hicky
Good afternoon all

Hicky
hope work is going ok today, and you got your brekkie and they arent overworking you. Yes, no suprise who were in the bottom 2 on DOI last night. Neither of them look very confident on the ice.Not that I am saying it is easy to do, just that they dont look as confident as the others do.

Strange... the reply button is still on the bottom for me,but when I press it, the reply box is right at the top.

Emptybox
garden work today , or too wet?
It is showers on and off here today.
Glad you got something that interested you to listen to when you ironed. I have never listened to radio1 exra, but do iisten to radio 1. Mainly Chirs Moyles, Scott Mills and the Sunday chart show.

going a little walk with doggie now.
