Yes, it was not a bad day at all, and the morning was fairly warm, but still breezy.
I don't need my winter fleece and woolly hat any more, but I'm still in a warm sweater and bodywarmer.
Got plenty of work done anyway, so I'm more or less up to date, but I've still got about 10 people who haven't had a first cut yet. But the grass isn't growing fast here yet.
Glad you enjoyed your afternoon of retail therapy Mollie. Even if you weren't buying stuff for yourself.
Fancy thinking you were a bus Hicky. Mind you, in that big Land Rover, it's an easy mistake to make.
Didn't get on here yesterday. I was installing and testing a new sound card for my computer. The onboard sound was playing up, so I bought a second hand Creative Audigy card on ebay.
I think the sound quality is definitely better now. I connect my computer to my hi-fi, and belt out rock music as i type late into the night.
I didn't see the leaders debate last night either, as i was busy in the guts of my computer at the time.
My other pump came this morning, this one has a float switch and can handle 30mm gravel.
My Travel NHS card for me & O/H as well.
Wedding dress for DIL came from the states, she tried that on, very nice too and little ones passport, just need one more passport now for the young girl.
Just had some Haggis for brekkie, had some for tea last night with some new salad spuds.
Got to go to B&Q for a new hose for the shower as well.
It looks like another nice day as well, bit of light wind.
It's a lovely day here too.
I'm just going for my weekly shop in a bit.
Glad your travel plans are coming on apace.
Why did your DiL send for a dress from the States?
A long way to send back if it needs alterations, I would have thought?
I've lost track of what you are doing with all these pumps?
Is your son building a garden pond with plants and fish etc?
Glad to hear you both have this lovely spring weather too.
Emptybox
good to hear you are up to date garden wise.
You didn't miss much with the leaders debate, I just watched the beginning, got bored and switched to Have I got News for You. Much more entertaining.
Hicky
I was going to ask the same as Hicky? How come the dress had to come from the States? I hope it fits now.
You certainly like your haggis. We had brekkie at Asda today, I love mushrooms at the moment, and had them for brekkie and with dinner a few times in the week.
You are busy with your pumps and hose for the shower. Did you fix the shower ok? And how are the garden plans going?
I wonder if you participated int he B and Q burger van today?
Glad to hear your holiday stuff is getting sorted now. Wont be long till you go now.
It won't be long till we go to Manchester now for the Corrie weekend. We have just heard that we are going to be allowed to go down the actual Corrie cobbles for 15 mins, so I am especially looking foward to that.
I am watching Somewhere over the Rainbow. These girls are really good. Do you still like the redhead Emptybox?
Then it is time for Britains Got Talent. Are you both watching it this year?
Have a good evening.
I watched some of Over the Rainbow.
I do like Sophie, but i don't think she is the strongest singer.
It was interesting when they said that Lauren used to be deaf, but her hearing returned?
I didn't watch BGT.
Had my usual Spaghetti Bolognese.
The only dress that matched what she had in mind came from there, she looked everywhere here, and found the one she wanted on the web, it's Beautiful as well.
If I can find it on the web I'll show you but I'm not sure where it is, I'll ask and see if I can find it.
Fixed the shower OK, and got a Burger as well, haven't touched the garden yet, still not sure what I'm going to do.
I watched SOTR, that Danielle is good, but so are many others.
You'll enjoy the Corrie weekend, should be very interesting.
Must be a special dress then Hicky.
In my naivete I thought wedding dresses were much of a muchness?
Some show a bit more flesh than others, but apart from that......
But I suppose it doesn't have to be white or cream or whatever?
I'm begining to struggle now.
Quite wet overnight here, but a dry but cloudy day. Temperatures not bad.
Think I'll go and watch this OTR results show now, and decide what to have for my supper.
Hicky
oh yes... I'd love to see the wedding dress. How interesting that she has decided to order it from the states. Glad you fixed the shower, sounds like the burger was well deserved.
Emptybox
I agree Sophie seems sweet, but she is not the best singer. Yes very interesting about Lauren and her hearing.
Yes Hicky Danielle is very good, and a very pretty girl. I like Stepanie, I think Stephainie has the strongest voice, and is a good performer, so is my fave at the moment.
We had a little overnight rain too Emptybox, but we did need it, haven't had rain for a long time, and gardens getting dry, and some idiots were starting setting off fires in some areas again.
Cooler today, I even wore a light coat with my hood up when we took doggie a walk on the seafront. Had a nice cappacino as we were walking along. The sea was in, and REALLY rough. One idiot couple had 2 littlies with them both looked to be under 5, and they took them into the sea for a paddle. The wave came, and knocked the little lad off his feet, and swept him right under the waves. It was horrible...Luckily the father managed to grab him, and pull him out. He was screaming his head off, as was his little brother. There is a steep undercurrent and slope down into the sea, and it wasn't long ago a 12 year old lost his life. You could plainly see the huge swell today, no way would I of gone near it. Can't believe how some parents can be such idiots. And last time we were there the coastguard were called out. I bet that poor kid will be scared of the sea forever now.
does anyone watch Come Dine with me on Sundays at 8pm, really good it is. It makes me feel hungry, but I am not allowed to eat after 8pm on my diet. Only a few weeks to go till we go away, and I dont want to be seen as the tunky pig on the Corrie cobbles.
Anyone watching Top Gear in the states? They are funny.
Hope you have all enjoyed your weekend.
I had Salt and Pepper French stick, brie, redcurrant jelly, mayo, and grapes.
I bet Hicky had some sort of seafood??
The dress was something like this one.
http://www.morilee.com/Bridals...amp;npag=1&bsel=
I had fish, chips and peas Mollie. All fresh from the freezer.
I watched Top Gear as well. A bit silly as usual.
They would have needed a fork-lift to get the cow on the roof. We could have done without that bit.
thanks for the link...what a lovely looking dress. I haven't seen one like that before. Very pretty.
Emptybox
fish, chips , peas sounds good.
and of course they reckon there are more vitamins in some frozen food, than fresh food, so that if fine.
goodnight all
Many dress were looked at, but she seemed to know what it was that she wanted, after looking at hundreds a particular one was selected.
I'm at work today, didn't look too bad early on.
Am just doing the BACS payment sheets to pay the company bill for the month, quite a lot to do, but no hurry, I hope.
Roll on brellie, was having more Haggis at home for brekki, it's very tasty must admit.
Pity I missed out all these years isn't it, but no-body bought it.
PS.
I see Diana Vickers got the No. #1 spot in th singles chart, so pleased for her.
hope you get the BACS work sorted out ok. Enjoy your work brekkie.
I am just making some cheese and tomato on toast for my brekkie.
That is good that the future bride is so sure what dress she fancies, It is important she feels that is just right for her big day.
Yes Diana is doign really well getting to number 1 with her first single.
bit damp and dull here, but feels mild.
I wonder if Emptybox is out with his gardens today?
That's the Bacs sorted for another month, just have to fax the sheets off when they are paid.
Not sure what it's like out, didn't see any Sun when I went to brekkie on the roof.
Got a few invoices to do later I think, but no problem.
I would think Emptybox has a good day really, unless he's got rain again.
My grass needs doing but one of my lads borrowed the grass box and I meant to bring it back at the weekend and forgot.
Maybe I should do it first without the box.
Coronation Street: Claire And Ashley Axed
News: Mon 26 April, 2010
Two of Coronation Streetâs most popular characters, Ashley and Claire Peacock, are to be written out of the long-running soap by the end of the year.
Actors Steven Arnold and Julia Howarth are said to be âfumingâ and âshockedâ by the decision, which follows talks with the showâs new producer Phil Collinson.
In a statement Phil said: âAshley and Clare Peacock have been part of the fabric of Weatherfield for many years but like any community, people come and go. Both actors and myself felt that we had reached a crossroads with the characters, to the point that as actors they were not being fulfilled and stories were harder to find.
âWe mutually decided to start working towards an exit for the Peacock family, giving the actors the chance to explore new opportunities and for us to devise a dramatic exit storyline. I wish Steven and Julia, and of course the young boys who play Josh and Freddie, all the best for the future."
The decision is reported to be mutual, although there are rumours the two actors initially approached the new producer to ask for meatier storylines. An ITV spokesperson said: âJulia and Steven are to leave the show but contrary to some press reports, there has been no confrontation with the show producer Phil Collinson. All parties agreed this was the right time to say goodbye to the streetâs Peacock family.â
Find out when Coronation Street is on TV.
A dry day, so I got some grass cut this morning. Then my mower conked out (wouldn't ya just know it! ).
The drive cable snapped, so I spent the afternoon trying to fix it. I've wired it back together, and it seems to be working, but it's just a bodge job really.
I'll see if it holds. If not, I'll have to order another one. But they tend to take weeks to come, because they don't tend to keep them as spares, and have to send to Japan for them.
Just have to see.
You really seem to have taken to haggis Hicky.
Was it my mentioning of it that set you on the right road?
If so, that means I've done something right.
I saw that Diana was No. 1
I had a listen to the song. It's kinda quirky and catchy.
I might download it. (legally of course)
Nice day here again.
took the dog out at 7am, I like to go then, if she is awake enough and wants to go. It is nice and cool and quiet then.
Hicky
Glad to hear you got the work sorted out ok yesterday.
Do you plan to cut the grass today without the grass box? I had to do that the other day because I couldn't work out how to put the box back on.
Emptybox
oh no...., sorry to hear your mower conked out, just when you need it the most. Lets hope the bodge job holds until your part comes, so you don't get behind.
Yes Hicky has really taken to the haggis since you mentioned it.
I bought a bunch of rhubarb the other day, but haven't decided what to do with it yet.
I heard on the news how good sweet potato is for you. that is good because I love it. I microwave it to start it, then dry roast it in my halogen, and it comes out really nice.
have a good day.
another lovely day here again today, hope it was for you too.
thanks for the Corrie link Hicky. Very interesting. I think I agree that the storyline for these 2 was going nowhere really. I wonder if they kill them off?
they say it is going to be 24 degres tommorrow, time to get out my flowery summer frock.
have a good evening all. not much on tv tonight though.
It hasn't been bad today really, some Sun anyway.
Some of my Summery Holiday gear has arrived, it was ordered on line, Trousers, T-Shirts all with a picture on, Elasticated Tracky bottoms, Trainers with Velcro fastening, if my feet swell they still will fasten.
Went to Sainsbury's for a few bits, got some fresh soups, some exotic mushrooms, seafood salad, some cod fillets, new pots, Moussaka, Mixed Olives & Feta, Stuffed Mini Peppers.
And some bars of nice chocy.
On the way out I couldn't remember what I had gone for.
Dry but cloudy morning, but rain this afternoon.
My mower seemed to be going OK, but I didn't use it enough to test it properly.
We aren't going to get those high temps here Mollie, but hopefully tomorrow will be warm and dry.
I've just got into sweet potatoes as well. I've only tried the frozen ones so far, but the supermarket has fresh ones, so I'm going to try those next week.
T-shirts with a picture on Hicky?
May one venture to ask; a picture of what or whom?
ETA: It seems to be our first anniversary?
Happy Wednesday to you.
The pictures Emptybox aren't what your thinking, they are just the T-Shirts that have Slogans on etc, one has a big old sailing ship, a few are American style adverty things, but it makes a change from my normal plain ones.
We might get some rain here, saw a few drops earlier.
It's pretty warm though.
Hoping not to be too busy today.
Booked my feet in for tommorrow to get nails sorted, they have grown more than expected in 3 months, was hoping to get another 4 weeks out of them.
Hicky...Hope they dont overwork you today, and hope you enjoy brekkie.
Feels warm here this morning, hope it doesn't get too hot because I have a dental check up today, and I get all sweaty with nerves if it is hot.
Glad to hear you have your holiday clothes sorted, and that you didn't forget how important it is to get something comfy for your feet. And remember to drink plenty of water, as you are flying so you don't get swollen feet. Yes it makes a nice change to get T shirts with piccies on, instead of just plain ones.
You got some nice food yesterday from Sainsburys. I often do that too when I go shopping, forget what I went for. So I try and write a list before I go, but the trouble is, I then often leave my list at home.
Best to book for your feet, so they are good before you go away.
Emptybox
Our first Anniversary? I did wonder what it was, with the celebrations background. Looks very nice.
Glad to hear your mower is holding up. Hope it does stay dry for you to get some gardening done today.
I use fresh sweet potatoes, but because they are so hard, I start them off in the microwave, before dry roasting them, otherwise I think they would take an age to cook.
Time for me to tidy up and sort a bit of washing before I go to town for my check up. I think I will pop into the cheap clothes shops when I am there, I go for my Corrie weekend in 2 weeks.
have a good day.
Not had too bad a day, quite a bit to do, but I don't mind doing a little work.
Can't believe the tasty stuff they put in little tubs, not everyone would like it, but I like vertually it all anyway, so it's nice to wander around looking what they have got.
Hope your Dental check is OK, not the best think to have to do, but it's got to be done, that's it.
I'll have to try these sweet Potato's, I've probably had them but forgotten.
It's worth a try, I like changing what I eat all the time.
It looks like it might be a long weekend for me, with it being a Bank Holiday Monday, I might be finished now till Tuesday.
Coronation Streetâs Betty battling chest infection in hospital
Betty Driver, who plays the role of Betty Williams in the soap, is being treated for the condition.
28 April 2010 14:57 GMT
Coronation Street actress Betty Driver, who plays the role of long-serving barmaid Betty Williams, is being treated in hospital for a chest infection.
The 89-year-old star, a much loved member of the cast, was taken into care at a private facility a few days ago.
There will no doubt be particular concern for the actress among her co-stars, particularly because of her age.
Coronation Street spoiler: Thu 29, 8.30pm
Audrey shows the dashing Lewis off as her new boyfriend, but Rita is surprised to learn he is to continue working as an escort.
Norris is horrified by Mary's attention as she cosies up to him, Nick is amused by an outburst from Natasha and promises to keep to their next date.
David urges Gary to let Anna know he is safe
A warmish day here but very windy.
I did a lot of mowing, and my repair held up well so far.
I've just about got round everybody for the first time now, but I've already had phonecalls from some of the ones I did a couple of weeks ago asking me to cut them again before the weekend, because they have visitors coming for the bank holiday.
It never ends.
Hope the dental check-up went OK Mollie, and hope you got your tootsies sorted Hicky.
Ah! I get you now with the pictures on T-shirts.
I had envisaged a family group, happily strolling along a beach in Portugal, each proudly sporting a T-shirt with your own chiselled features emblazened across the chest.
It's not too late to arrange it Hicky.....
Lucky you, with your long weekend.
Kerry must be mad.
well the dentist visit didn't go too well, because I have to go back twice. A tooth I cracked ages ago got worse, and he says it needs a crown. But he has to take an impression, then I have to go back after. And it cost me ÂĢ170! Still I expect it would be much more if it was private. Had to go and buy myself a nice flowery dress from Asda to cheer me up straight after.
Hicky
thanks for the Corrie news. Poor Betty, I hope she is ok. I never realised she was 89.I am loving Nigel Havers on Corrie.
That is nice Hicky that you have a nice long bank hol coming up now. My OH has Monday off too, so that will be nice.
I can recommend sweet potatoes, they are lovely dry roasted. And full of vitamins.
Do you have anything planned for bank hol weekend? I expect you will have some visitors.
Hope it was dry for Emptybox and his gardens today.
Not much on tv tonight.
just took dog a nice walk, it was so hot today, so we waited till dark to take dog out. It is a lovely evening now.
Did you not see my previous post?
It was buried in among Hicky's Corrie and Kerry news.
Glad the mower is holding up ok. That is the trouble with your job, it is quiet for months, then bedlum, as it all takes off in Spring. I hope the weather holds for you, so you don't get too far behind.
What a splendid idea for the Hicky family all to have matching Hicky family T shirts for their holiday. I am sure they would all look so fetching.
that is one big dog in that piccy Hicky. Is it Kerry Katona in the pic? I like the flowery trousers.
I did it by accident really. I had some mushrooms that were just getting past their best, so i thought i'd better use them up, and i intended to make some sort of side dish with them, though I'd no idea how it would turn out.
I heated butter in a pan and crushed and cut up 2 cloves of garlic, and added those, then I cut up the mushrooms and put those in the pan, and added some cream and some olive oil. Then i seasoned with a little chilli powder and some worcester sauce and stirred it around a bit.
It looked so good, that I had it as a starter.
I'll do them again another day.
As a main dish I had tinned crab, tinned new pots and tinned sweetcorn.
But they couldn't beat the mushrooms.
I wonder if this means we will be seeing you on a tv cooking show soon?
Bit dull here this morning, but it feels very muggy, and heavy.
Hicky...Hope you enjoy your long weekend now.
Emptybox
hope the weather stays dry for you to keep up with all those gardens.
I have a friend coming over for coffee in a minute, she loves to have a cappacino from my cappacino machine.
have a good day all.
She looks pretty good to me.
I didn't think Betty was that old, doesn't time fly.
We haven't got matching T-Shirts Mollie, they are all mine, O/H just got me 6 of them, all different pictures though.
That is Kerry Katona in the picture, out with the kids.
Your Mushrooms sound good anyway Emptybox, I might try that.
Went to the Chemists this morning to get my repeat prescription, thought i's get a brekkie at Morrisons, had a lot of trouble parking, found a rather nasty space and had to get back out as it was too tight, found another one, when inside queue was too much, no seats to eat so left as service time was 25 mins, came back home and had some cod fillet with mushrooms.
went to the chiropodists then went to Costco, got my crab legs and some Sushi, and a big tray of mixed cakes, bottled water, some big Tiger Prawns, a Swordfish steak, and Frozen crab legs .
Pity you missed out on your Morrison's brekkie.
You didn't mention my Chantelle picture, and I skived off this morning specially to bring it to you.
I think she looks gorgeous there, but not very happy, for some reason?
It was a bit of a sultry day here as well Mollie. It felt like a thunder plump was imminent all day, but we escaped with a dry day.
Got some mowing done this afternoon.
Hope you and your friend enjoyed your cappacinos Mollie.
Watching the leaders debate on BBC1.
I think David Dimbleby does it better than the fellow on ITV, but it's still rather boring.
I had haggis, mashed potatoes and mashed parsnips for my supper tonight.
Yep, forgotten to mention pic, like it, and here one which is a background one she uses when he has a private chat.
Had Swordfish steak for brekkie, a very meaty fish, ideal if you want a fish that doesn't break up easy like cod.
Makes a change anyway.
A bit miserable here today, warm though.
Hope everyone has a good Friday.
