Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

It's not Sunny here today, but very little wind and about 3deg.

I think the Buffalo have moved on, they have trouble with the Motorway, and they hate traffic lights as well.

The Granary bread will be nice, can't beat that for toasting.

Just had 3 dippy eggs, 2 for my O/H, they were delish.
Hicky
everyone
Hope you have had a good Sunday.
Hicky..Sounds a bit nippy up there if they are predicting snow showers. They said on our weather will get milder here in the week.

Hicky.. did you have any visitors, or just a quiet day after your party day yesterday?

Emptybox..
Hope you have had a good Sunday.

We are just watching Father Ted. That show is so funny.
I watched Dancing on Ice, and that David Attenborough history show on bbc1 was interesting.
Goodnight all
M
Evening.

Just a quiet Sunday.

It was very frosty overnight, and a very cold day. It's frosty again tonight, but I think it's to get milder?
I think there's rain forecast here tomorrow. For the afternoon at least.

The only snow left on my premises is a pile on the lawn, which is all that's left of the snow structure/obelisk that I built.
The frost has been keeping it here, but i guess it'll probably go if it gets warmer.
emptybox
Good Morning Everyone.

A bit frosty here, a few parts have had a little touch of snow, nothing to worry about, the roads are clear but could be slippy on untreated ones.I had a few visitors yesterday, not a lot, a couple of little ones

It shouldn't be too bad here this week, although it said heavey snow Friday, it seldom gets it right, but it was right today with the light snow.
Just luck that I think.
Hope it's not too busy at work but they usually save it all up for me.

I enjoyed the DOI, pity there's not any good skaters this year, well not like last year anyway. They are all too nervous.

That sounds delicious Hicky.

Not bad morning, but rainy this afternoon.

Watching that programme on Channel 4 about the MPs living on Council Estates.

I'm trying out Google Chrome for a browser.
I tried it before but couldn't get it to work with XP, but it's working OK on Windows 7.
Seems to be faster than I.E. anyway.
This site is still acting up though.

Hi Emptybox.

Had some fried mash with bacon and beans this morning.

I did try Google Chrome on XP but it wasn't any better than the others.
I would have thought all the browsers are the same speed, the browser doesn't control the speed of anything, it's the sites that control that.

I'm going to have my Haggis tonight, O/H doesn't want any though.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.

Hope the haggis tastes good for ya.

I think there can be marginal differences in speed between browsers? I think IE does security checks on webpages that can hold things up a bit? Might be my imagination, but chrome seems a wee bit faster, but it ultimately depends on your internet connection.
Doesn't make a lot of difference which browser you use really.

Well I got all my dad's stickdressing stuff away. Even though I woke up to a blanket of a couple of inches of snow over everthing.
It's been sunshine this afternoon, so a bit of it has gone, but we've still got a covering.
The forecast was for rain.

Survivors on TV tonight. I like that.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.

I don't mind if the browser does some security checks, it's needed more as time goes by.
I just use IE without Flash, and Firefox with Flash.
It seems a good combination.

Had my Haggis tonight, so big, will have to see if I can buy smaller ones.
It was very enjoyable, but I have so much left, just because it was so big.

Found a Chocolate Trifle in the fridge, a big one and O/H doesn't like Trifle, no wonder I don't lose weight.

I'm going to record that Survivors now, not sure which one it is but it's worth a try.

Not surprised you had some snow, it will be about for quite a while yet, we might get a bit more as well.
It's been raining here a little today but it says -1 tonight and light snow at midday tomorrow.
Hicky
Good evening all
I am in chaous at the moment, because we collect the keys for my moms house tommorrow, and she completes the move on Saturday. So much paperwork, as well as packing and sorting to do. We couldn't find a bungalow for her, so have taken out a 6 month tenancy for a nice house, whilst we look for something more suitable.

Hicky
sounds like you have been busy cooking.
at you finding a choccy trifle in the fridge.
I bet you enjoyed that after your haggis.

Emptybox
your cold winter does seem to be carrying on for a while this year.
It was milder here today, but horrible... wet and windy.
Glad you got your father's stick things sorted.
Have you put your choice of stick somewhere nice where it can be seen?
Yes this site is acting weird for me too.
Had trouble posting.

Goodnight all
M
Hi Hicky.
Glad you enjoyed your haggis.

I thought it was supposed to get warmer this week, but it's -3 tonight.

Hi Mollie.
A busy next few days for you then.
Have you hired someone to move your Mum's stuff, or are you doing it yourselves?

Glad you've found her somewhere nice, even if it's only temporary.

My Dad had a lot of his sticks displayed in the living room. There is a couple of beams in the room, and they are hung up on either side of those (my own included).
There are more in a stand in the hall
emptybox
Good Morning Mollie, Emptybox and GrannyG.

I see you are very busy Mollie, I understand, you have to do what's got to be done.
At least you have somewhere for your Mum, that's all you can do for now.

It was very cold here last night, the car was covered in thick ice, couldn't open the door till I used the back of my small comb to break the seal of the rubber holding the door closed.

Hi GrannyG.

It's nice to be busy, drop by anytime, we are always here.

Bruce Jones back on telly

Bruce Jones, formerly Coronation Street's Les Battersby, is going to be back on our television screens in a new sitcom soon after recent unfounded rumours of him appearing in Celebrity Big Brother. It's called The Band and is about a boy-band called Overdrive. Bruce will play the hard done by manager of the generally rowdy group of lads, with the task of keeping them from going off the rails. The pilot has been filmed and also stars another former Corrie actor, Scott Wright. You may remember him as hunky Sam the mechanic. He's looking very gaunt and thin these days judging from the pic on the Sun's article about this. Bruce has had a lot of bad luck lately, let's hope this is the first step to a fresh start for him.

DANCING On Ice judge Jason Gardiner has sparked a bullying row after telling Sharron Davies she looked like “faecal matter”.

Fans reacted angrily to the catty comments made during Sunday night’s show.

Following the Olympic swimmer’s performance on the ice Jason, 38, told her: “You look like faecal matter that won’t flush that goes around and around but doesn’t go anywhere.”

Viewers angrily complained to telly watchdog Ofcom, which is to investigate.

Jason initially refused to apologise to Sharron and partner Pavel Aubrecht. But last night, the judge said: “I was critiquing the performance of Sharron Davies and made some comments which may have caused offence to her and viewers.

“For this I’m sorry and would like to apologise.”

Campaign group Mediawatch condemned Jason. Director Vivienne Pattinson said: “It is bullying. His comments were unnecessary and offensive and not what the viewer wants to see.

“It is even more offensive before the watershed which is watched by families.”

Tana Ramsay, 35, who was booted off on Sunday, said she believed Jason had overstepped the mark with her too when he claimed she looked like a “frigid schoolmistress”.

She said yesterday on This Morning: “I think some things he says are very personal. It’s hard to take and can shatter your confidence.”

Hicky

Heather Mills may see herself being forced to pull out of ITV’s Dancing On ice, as she faces problem after problem with her prosthetic leg.

Heather gave a poor performance on last Sunday’s show, as her leg repeatedly pulled out of it’s socket. Heather has already been forced to replace the socket, due to weight loss caused by constant training. She has ordered a third one this week, but it may not be here on time for Sunday night’s show.

Hicky
I've just heard that it's snowing heavy ouside, can't see from where I am, so I'll have to wait till I go home.

It didn't say that on the weather forecast, it was supposed to be snow later in the week.

They never seem to get it right do they?

I think they would be best just forecasting the next hour, at least they may get iot right more often.
Hicky
Good evening all
Had another busy day, got moms keys for new place, and OH moved a few things in. We are getting the removal man in to move the heavy stuff Emptybox. Me nor OH don't want to do our backs in. But there is still so much to arrange and try and sort because of her age.

Emptybox.. glad you have somewhere to display your father's sticks around the house.   Sounds very cold up there still. It was fairly cold here, but not cold enough for frost, poured with rain most of the day though.

Hicky..
thanks for the news items.  What a shame about Heather's leg. Sounds cold by you too, if you have had snow again.
Not much on tv tonight, was there?

GrannyG
nice to see you here again, hope you are keeping well.
OH is getting some calls from agents, but the job situation is certainly worse than he has known it. Very few jobs, and many chasing each one. I just hope one turns up soon for him.

Goodnight all.
M
Hi Mollie.

Yes, you don't want to be moving heavy stuff, if it won't fit in a shopping bag you should leave it.

We only get a little of anything so it's not really a problem here, worse inland though.

If Heather didn't have so much money don't think she would be able to get these special legs, you couldn't get these on the NHS that's for sure.
They cost an awful lot of wonger.

The weather is quite warm here for the next few days but with rain or drizzle.
Still not very nice.

Time for Bed, was up early this morning.

Just have to go and clean the kitchen and fill the dishwasher.
Marvellous machines those, well this one seems to be anyway.
Hicky
Night.

You've certainly taken a liking for the haggis Hicky.

My supermarket only seems to have the sliced stuff that you fry. Haven't tried it, but doubt if it would be the same as the proper stuff. Might give it a go though, or get a proper one from the butchers?

Best plan, to get in the movers Mollie.
I almost did my back in a week or so ago, lugging my heavy stereo system downstairs.

It's freezing again tonight, and there's still a blanket of snow on the ground, but it's been mostly a fine day.
I'm supposed to be tidying someone's garden up tomorrow, but it'll not be much use if everything is covered in snow. Think I'll have to ring up beforehand to see if it's worthwhile going?
The place is way up in the hills, so probably has had more snow than me. We'll see.
emptybox
Hello Emptybox.

I wasn't sure what the Haggis was really, so getting one was the only way, I will try anything food wise anyway.
It just puts another meal on the list of possibilities for the daily menu.

It was suggested that I buy the big Haggis and cut it into portions and freeze them till needed, that seemed a good idea.
That was suggested on a DS thread I post on.

It's  overcast and damp here today so don't think we will be seeing any Sun today.

Hayley Tamaddon is 'too good' at Dancing on Ice

Former Dancing on Ice champion Kyran Bracken has suggested that Hayley Tamaddon is "too good, too early" on the ice dance contest, says a report.

04 February 2010 09:34 AM

155400 Hayley Tamaddon is 'too good' at Dancing on Ice

Former Dancing on Ice champion Kyran Bracken has suggested that Hayley Tamaddon is "too good, too early" on the ice dance contest, says a report.

The 2007 winner has cautioned that he believes that the former Emmerdale actress has "peaked too soon."

Tamaddon finished top of the leaderboard on the show last Sunday night with 23 points.

Kyran told The Blue Room: "Hayley was great as usual but is in danger of being too good too early and the public might just get bored.

"Top marks will keep coming no doubt but the British like the underdog.

"She is not so far ahead like Ray Quinn in that she can easily win."

Braken also claimed that Heather Mill should perform on just one leg.

He added: "I did not like Heather's performance at all and felt scared she was going to injure herself.

"If her false leg is coming off she should consider skating on one leg and believe you me, she would do just as well as she is that strong-minded."

MEET CORONATION STREET'S NEW BARMAID...

Story Image

Coronation Street's new barmaid Camilla

Thursday February 4,2010

THERE was a posh new barmaid at the Rovers Return today when the Duchess of Cornwall pulled a pint during a visit to Coronation Street.

Camilla, a lifelong fan of Britain’s longest running television soap opera, visited the set at Granada’s studios in Manchester to mark the programme’s 50th anniversary year.

She was given a specially created brooch in the form of Hilda Ogden’s infamous flying ducks, featuring the middle one that was always askew on her “muriel”, and then put through her paces behind the bar of the Rovers.

Landlady Liz McDonald – actress Beverley Callard – showed her how to pour the perfect pint.

“I hope I’m not going to spill it. Who is going to drink it afterwards? Any takers?” asked the wife of the heir to the throne.

The Duchess of Cornwall pulled a pint, before having a drink with the locals
“It’s not a bad pint,” said the landlady, whose compliment was echoed by Keith Duffy, who plays barman Ciaran McCarthy, “That’s a great head you’ve got there,” he said.

After checking it was on the house, Ryan Thomas, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw, volunteered to try the royal pint out of the pump, which actually serves Bass shandy.

“In the 10 years that I’ve been here it’s probablyâ€ĶI’ll have to say the best,” he declared with a smile to a beaming Camilla.

The Duchess spent an hour touring the set, walking along the world’s most famous cobbles, inspecting the houses in Coronation Street, and greeting its inhabitants.

Her life has perhaps been an even bigger soap opera but she clearly enjoys the show.

When she was introduced to William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow and is the only original cast member still working on the soap, she said: “Ah, our Ken, how nice to see you. I am so glad you are still here.”

Roache, whose character got remarried within a day of the Duchess in 2005, said: "I've been here for 50 years."

“Well, that is when I started watching,” the Duchess replied. “I used to watch it with my mother.”
e met several other cast members, but said she wished veteran actress Betty Driver, who plays Betty Williams on the show, could have been there. Viewers will watch her character celebrate her 90th birthday tonight.

Ms Driver, who will be 90 in real life in May, was recuperating after a routine operation. “I'm so sad that Betty’s not here with her hotpots,” said Camilla.

When some of the actors suggested that the hotpots, prepared by studio staff, were not actually that tasty, the Duchess suggested that her son, TV chef Tom Parker Bowles, might have to be drafted in.
Camilla then wandered down the famous street and was greeted by cast members

“I’ll have to haul my son off Market Kitchen and get him up here,” she said.

Ten years ago Prince Charles celebrated the show’s 40th anniversary by appearing in a cameo role.

“I wish I could have had a walk-on part like my husband did. Perhaps next time, if you invite meâ€Ķ” she said.

Inside the studios, she watched a scene, due to air on April 1, in which Liz and Deirdre, played by actress Anne Kirkbride, were lusting after Ciaran, the barman.

Earlier, the Rovers landlady struggled to walk over the cobbles in her towering stilettos and mini skirt, much to the Duchess’s amusement.

Camilla, wearing a blue coat and black boots, said: “I think your shoes are more dangerous than mine. You’re looking very glamorous.”

Callard, who revealed she wore more comfortable suede boots on the set when behind the bar, told the royal visitor: “I should have worn a longer skirt today. But I wore the longest skirt she’s got.”

The Duchess also met Jack P Shepherd, who plays teenager David Platt.

Introduced by his on-screen mother Gail – actress Helen Worth, she said: “This is your son,” and turning to him, added: “You are the tearaway. You’re probably much nicer in real life.”

Camilla stayed longer on the set than she was scheduled to, and told the cast she did not want to leave.

She said she would love to come back and film a walk-on part.

“It is a wonderful British institution, isn’t it? What would we do without it?

“I’d like to be staying here so I can walk in and out and say I have been on.”

I did a bit of shopping in Sainsbury's earlier.
Got some more Dried Apricots, just something to chew while on the Puter.
Bought a small dressed crab, have eaten that on bread.
Got O/H a smoked cod loin uncoloured.

Got a couple of kippers for Brekkie.
Also got 2 Haggis, a lot smaller that my last one, have put in a freezer as I'm still finishing the other.

Bought some Mash and some mixed swede/carrot mix to go with the Haggis.
Hicky
Good evening all

Hicky..
sounds like you are really enjoying the higgis now.
Was it a work day for you today?
Thanks for the Stacy interview. She is so nice. I used to watch that afternoon show when we lived in ireland.   And thanks for the Corrie news, I think we will have lots of Corrie news up and coming with it being the 50th anniversary this year.

Emptybox
did you manage to get out to do that garden?  Or was it still covered in snow.
We just had a boring dull drizzly day here today.
I am hoping it is dry Saturday for when the removalists come to do my mothers move.
I am tired again today, OH has been packing boxes for the move, and I have been helping my mom do some sorting ready for the move.

Not much on tv tonight, was there?

Goodnight all
M
Thanks for the Stacey vid Hicky.
She's lovely, but as daft as a bloomin' brush.

As suspected it was deemed too snowy for me to do any work today.

It's much milder tonight, and there's rain forecast for tomorrow, so that should shift the snow.

I had a chicken balti tonight. Just a ready made sauce from the supermarket, and some chicken breasts cut up, but it was very tasty.

Hope your Mum's move is going to plan Mollie. Saturday, I think you said, for moving the big stuff?

Hi Mollie.
Your post didn't come up till after I had posted mine.
Or perhaps I didn't refresh? Either way I didn't see it till now.

I was watching that programme on BBC3 with Nicola Roberts investigating the tanning business.
I've not the slightest interest in tanning. Nicola Roberts on the other hand......

Night.
emptybox
Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

I think Stacey will do ok, she's very likeable and popular so i'm sure she will be ok when the XF contract finishes.

It'a a lot dryer here today anyway, warmer as well, +7 deg outside, it's amazing how warm it feels when it's a few deg higher.

My Puter fan has been sounding a bit noisy so I took the side off and cleaned all the vents and the heat-sink and fan, such a lot of fluff.

The Chicken Balti sounds nice Emptybox, but I always use the Curry pastes as you can make it as you like, which I prefer.

Had some Bacon, Black Pud, Toms and beans for brekkie, will have the Kippers for the weekend, my O/H doesn't eat them as she says they linger and she can taste them all day after eating them.

Corrie producer offers 2010 story insights

Friday, February 5 2010, 12:00 GMT

By Kris Green, Soaps Editor

Leading on from today's earlier set of Corrie character teasers, here's a second hoard to keep you going!

When does the lesbian storyline between Sophie and Sian begin?
"Well, the story of Sophie's sexuality is a big and ongoing story which starts properly in April but will develop over the rest of the year. This is not something we deal with lightly and I just want to add that she remains a Christian throughout, too.

"It is a love story that has all the complexities of any teenage relationship, which would be complicated enough at the best of times. It will add another dimension to everything else that's going on in the Webster household. It's one layer in that family of stories but it's a big secret for quite a while. All the confusion of how Sophie feels and how Sian feels - we've played that all out truthfully, I hope."

Are we going to start seeing more of Carla soon?
"Yes - she gets a new love interest... Trev, Janice's lodger - the binman! It's a very unlikely triangle."

But he doesn't seem Carla's type...
"Steve Jackson is a lovely actor. It took me a long time to find him - I did over three screen tests and I'm so glad we did because we found him in the last screen test and he's exactly what we were looking for. Liam was very relaxed and laid-back. He wasn't a showy, pushy controlled businessman like Tony who pursued Carla for ages before she was interested. And Trev's very laid-back. He's got no airs or graces. He's not looking for status and that's what she finds attractive about him. He sees through to the real Carla, as Liam did and that's why she likes him."

How does Nick get involved in the factory?
"He worked in the factory years ago under Mike and learned the ropes and he's been working in that trade while he's been away, too. When he comes back, he thinks, 'I'd quite like to be a partner back in there'. He has to do a bit of wheeling and dealing, going through a few machinations before he manages to become part of it again but yes, he sets his sights on it."

Craig Gazey says he's signed until 2011 - what are the long-term plans for him?
"He's going to find some roots back within the Platt family and the Platt household. Also, he becomes a very good ally to one of our female characters who ends up in crisis. An unexpected friendship or partnership develops. We get to a deeper level with the character where we see that he kind of saves somebody who's drowning, in a way. He becomes their saviour."

Lewis apparently has a dark secret...
"I don't know if it's so much a dark secret but further down the line he does upset people and let people down. I'll tell you what, it's great this story, I absolutely love it! It's another one that's going to develop over the spring where Rita gets involved in the Audrey/Lewis friendship and you can imagine we just have great fun with that!"

Eileen seems to have slipped off the radar - are we going to see more of her this year?
"It's not that people slip into nowhere but when you've got 60-plus cast they can't all be in stories on screen all the time, otherwise you'd end up with very bitty episodes. When a story closes down a bit you sometimes look away and look at other characters whose stories are building. It's a natural ebb and flow of the show and that's always been the way, really. It's not that she's disappeared, it's just that her story comes to a point where we look away a bit but we will continue to see her in the cab office and the pub and through the Joe/Gail/Grimshaws/Platts story as well. We've also just talked about a great new story for her but it probably won't get properly started until late spring. I love her in the cab office best, though."

Celebrity Big Brother Dane Bowers 'to duet with Basshunter'

Dane Bowers is thinking about teaming up with Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jonas Altberg, also known as Basshunter.

Dane Bowers Dane Bowers wants to collaborate with Basshunter

The former Another Level singer told BBC Newsbeat that he was considering relaunching his music career after appearing on the Channel 4 show and might team up with Basshunter.

"I've got some good opportunities to do some great bits of writing with different people," he said.

"Jonas is talking about doing something, which I might try and do."

Dane claimed he was now much in demand since coming runner-up on Celebrity Big Brother.

"It's great, DJ gigs are coming in thick and fast and labels want to talk."

Bowers first found fame as part of Another Level and has also dated glamour model Katie Price.

Hicky
Good evening all
I am exhausted again.... packing cleaning, unpacking. OH did lots today, and son helped too. We got my mum over to our house for a rest, because it is all tiring for her. I hope it is dry tommorrow, because yes, as you say Emptybox, the removals men are in to shift the large things.

at Emptybox watching the tanning programme, even though he is not interested in tanning. I like Nicola Roberts, I always think she was the one who the press were never so interested in, yet I think she has the best voice of all the Girls Aloud.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your chicken balti.

Hicky...
thanks for all the news things. I wonder how a Dane/Basshunter single would go? Don't think I'd fancy kippers for brekkie either, but I do like beans, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown and toast, when we go to Asda for brekkie.

I will have to record "Pop Star to Opera" tonight, because the kids want to watch Lost.
M
Reference:
Hicky  .... Have a Greek meal for tomorrow, and a Curry in the fridge as well.
Glad you enjoyed your cottage pie.

I had a finest cheese and onion quiche from Asda. Very nice, I got it reduced because the box was bashed.   Had it with jacket potato and peas.

What is in a Greek meal?  All I know of Greek food is kebabs.
M
Hi Mollie.

It's a lot of work you've had to do, glad the weather hasn't been to bad this week.

I think Dane and Basshunter will do well, they have a lot of fans between them.

The Greek meal is 'Moussaka' I have it every now and again, it's very tasty and have had authentic ones in Greek restaurants as well.
There are quite a few other meals as well but I haven't had them.

I like Cheese and Onion Quiche, but I love all food, it depends what is on the Menu.

I watched the Pop to Opera on the TV, They all sounded the same to me, don't know how you choose between them.
Hicky
Evening.
Much milder and wetter today. Quite heavy rain this afternoon.
All the snow has gone, apart from that same little pile, and I think that'll be gone overnight.

Curry paste is a good idea Hicky. I used a jar of sauce, but I had to use it up once it was opened, so had to have curry twice in the same week.
Mind you, you have to do that a lot when you are catering for one.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow Mollie.

I watched Popstar to Opera. They were all good this week.
Darius's wee brother didn't seem impressed with him though?
Since when did he become Darius Campbell? I thought he was Darius Danesh?

Does anyone else think they might be miming on stage? I can't make up my mind, but the sound is suspiciously good? I'm not saying it's not them singing. Perhaps they record it earlier?
I'm probably wrong, but I notice they always wear those little cheek mics, but when Katherine Jenkins sung a couple of weeks ago she had two large stage mics?
I'm probably wrong.

Today I went into Jedburgh for my shopping (instead of Kelso), and went to the Co-op which has a better food section.
I bought a couple of little haggi (nobody knows the proper plural ).
I also got some melon segments, which I had for my sweet tonight with cream.
Had a king prawn stirfry for main.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.

The Curry paste is the best bet really, takes a few extra minutes but you can get a few meals out of each jar, I usually have 3 jars on the go and mix them, I have Rogan Joss, Madras, Vindaloo, and I mix it depending how hot I'm making it.

I thought they were miming on stage, it might harm the vocal chords if they keep singing at such a high pitch.

Not sure what plural of Haggis is, I just say 2 Haggis.
Hicky
