I got down to the village in my van. The floods are nearly away, but the water is still across the road at a couple of places, so i thought it would be more sensible taking the van as it's got a higher clearance.
The most difficult part is still, getting out on to the road. The drive past my neighbours is very slippy, and the van almost went sideways into a large picnic table.
I think I'll wait till the ice has gone before I start regular work, cos I'm risking bashing the van (or car) every time I go out.
I wish my neighbour would put some sand or grit down like I have, but they've got a 4x4 landrover, which isn't bothered by the ice.......I know, I know Hicky .
Never mind. It shouldn't be long before it's gone because it's still thawing, and it's been sunny here as well.
Some good telly on tonight.
At 8pm there's a choice between Larkrise to Candleford and CBB.
At 9pm there's Wallander on BBC1, and at 10.15pm on ITV1 there's a good film called "Children of Men" starring Clive Owen.
Glad to hear you are both coming on well, and have got appetites back.
Nicola looks nice in some of those pics Hicky. A little skinny in others though.
I'll have to watch BBLB all next week if the twins are on it then. I don't normally watch it.
I am watching DOI, but what a nuisance CBB is on at the same time tonight. Will have to record end of DOI, don't want to miss CBB.
The task they showed on BBLB looks funny.
Too many programs on tonight.
Much watch Slumdog Secret Millionaire after CBB at 8pm.
Emptybox.
The cold snow & Ice hasn't finished, it's comng back soon and may stay till March, so don't get your hopes up.
Get a Land Rover quick, and get rid of that Jag.
Just had some Macaroni cheese on toast.
Working tomorrow so won't be up too late
Sounds from that forecast, it is too early to call spring yet, after todays sun then?
Hope you enjoyed your macroni cheese on toast.
I had beans, mash and the quiche left from yesterday.
Goodnight all
Hope you manage to get up ok for work tommorrow Hicky.
She must be very good at what she does anyway.
And I see Alex is creeping up the top mens order, he might even get past Vinny.

Hicky..
hope they aren't working you too hard today.
do you stil get brekkie in the canteen?
Daughter in bed with this horrible cough/cold thing now.
It has now passed through all the family in the house now.
It is a bit damp here today, but not too bad, still very mild.
wonder who will leave tonight?
I think Sov may have a few chavy fans who vote for her, so it could be either.
Ron wants his young girl lover back, does he? I bet his poor wife doesn't want him back.. But Katia is suddenly changing her mind yet again, and wanting Jonas now, doesnt surprise me. Her agent must of told her there is a bit of money to be made out of moving in on that fella now.
Hope Nicola stays tonight.
I have just put livefeed on to see what they are up to today.
Don't think there's any chance of Nicola going tonight, but Friday is a different matter.
They will vote again tinight and live.
I had my Brekkie, wasn't very hungry, just had a Saus and a piece of bacon with 2 toast.
Awful about your Daughter, strange how it gets passed about.
Was reading a report this morning about the cleaning of surfaces with wteredm down solution of detergents and how it's allowing the bugs to grow stronger, and more resistant to out anti biotics which is a worry.
Also whats happening is, they aren't leaving the cleaning detergent on the surface long enough to kill the germs so they are getting used to them.
You should change the detergent you use now and agin to stop them getting used to them.
Think we are all going to get done in by them in the end.
I like Katia, and she will do very well out of this.
Katia wanted Jonas before she left, you could tell a mile off.
But things are frowned on in the house so it's very difficult to know what to do.
Stephen has to be out next. What a balloon!
Sorry your daughter has caught the bug now Mollie.
Not a bad day here, but no sign of the ice melting yet.The temp is 0 degrees according to my weather widget.
Did a lot of domestic stuff, dusting hoovering etc.
Katia was OK, but she didn't make any impression on me really.
It's pretty warm here, 4 deg outside now.
Taking my car in tomorrow for a service and MOT, hoping it's ok.
Not working tomorrow, in Wednesday next.
Watched Gordon Ramsey in India, just watching Torchwood.
http://twitpic.com/yovjj
Hope your car doesn't need any work Hicky.
My widget is now saying -2, so I guess it's going to be a frosty night here.
Night.
Strange you've still got minus temperatures, there's a lot to come yet.
Well I took the car in, they usually have it most of the day.
Had some scrambled for brekkie.
It's about 6 deg here so not so bad, it says light snow for Wednesday at 6pm.

Another mild day here today.
Strange how the mild spell didn't get as far north as you yet Emptybox.
Hicky
hope the car gets throught the mot ok.
glad to see Nicola stay last night.
Sov just made herself look childish imo.
Underwater hotel? How strange. I see Stacy was in one of those pics.
Daughter just snoozing now, because the cough kept her awake all night.
I still havent got rid of the cough, but I expect it will take a while for it to go. Has yours gone completely now Hicky?
Hope you enjoyed your scrambled egg on toast. I had a toasted bagel with butter. I like bagels.
The garage phoned for me to pick the car up but O/H went out to see someone for a minute an hour ago and hasn't got back yet.
They didn't say whether it passed or not, didn't ask.
Didn't think Nicola would go, and she's fitting in with some of them a lot better now as well.
Dannii and Stacey were quite close, she always stays close to those she has mentored.
Bad news about your Daughters cough, my cough has gone really.
Think i'm going to have a problem with another tooth.
Brb
sounds like your OH's minute visit turned out being longer than anticipated. Hope you have your car back now.
sorry to hear you have another tooth problem. Has the filling come out?
One of mine is chipped as well, but it isn't bothering me, which is good , because I just aren't up for a dentist visit until this cold has fully gone.
I'm back, O/H rang me from outside the house to see if the garage had rang, but wanted to go the Hungry Horse for a meal.
I was in the process of having a bit of cooked sausage and cheese with some Piccalilli which I abandoned but will get back to.
Got my car, MOT was free with the full service, had forgotten.
Had soup & Steak & Kidney pudding, very nice.
It's not one of the teeth I usually have a problem with.
It's a high level near side Wisdom tooth, god knows why they call it that, because the wise wouldn't have them.
If your chipped one is sharp, just file it with a nail file or emery board a little and that should do it for now.
Are they Rabbits or Ducks.
Ignore the text it's part of the gif.
--------------------------------------
glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to the Hungry Horse, hope your OH did too.
As your car was free, that explains why they didn't give you a costing for it.
What a good idea to use a nail file on a chip. Hope your tooth is ok.
I couldn't see your rabbit/duck piccy.
Can't see how they are predicting snow is some areas, it is still about plus 5 here.
Emptybox... hope you have had a good day.
Goodnight all.
Was very frosty last night, and we had foggy weather all day, but it's above freezing tonight anyway.
Not sure if they are still predicting snow or they've changed their minds again?
Glad your car service was relatively pain free Hicky. Pity you're now having problems with a tooth.
Spent most of the day messing around with computers. I should have got down to a large pile of ironing, but there just didn't seem to be the time.
Maybe I'll get out to work tomorrow, if more of the ice on the drive melts?
I would say about 80% of my lawn is still covered in snow though, and there's still a big pile next to the car where I threw it when I dug the car out.
I can see both the duck and the rabbit Hicky. Not sure what it's supposed to mean though?
Not too bad here, a bit of sleet earlier.
Mollie if you can't see the Rabbit/Duck you must have the pictures or something turned off in your browser or somewhere.
Emptybox can see it, it doesn't mean anything, was just an advert which I pinched the pic from, so the text is unactive.
I wonder when the next snow is expected?, it's pretty warm here compared to last week.
Dancing on Ice to feature three-hour special
Dancing on Ice is to be on air for nearly three hours on Sunday night in one of its longest episodes ever. All the celebrities will take to the ice this weekend.
The show will star earlier than usual at 6.20pm to give time for everybody perform.
Plus the results show at 9.45.
Quite a night then
Hicky...
is it a day off today, for you?
DOI is really long this week, I will have to remember to record some of it, because it is bound to be up against CBB.
Just a bit rainy here today, but too mild for sleet.
Emptybox
gosh that snow has been lying for a long time there . Do you normally have snow lying for a lot of weeks in winter up there? I wonder if you made it out to work today?
Daughter was awake all night coughing again, mine still hasn't cleared completly yet, looks like it is going to be one of those that hangs on and on.
Steven last night at the end... ... the jokes on you?? what a strange one he is, but at least he is an interesting HM.
I'm at work today, boss's went to Germany at 9.30 for a meeting tomorrow.
Just 2 of us in the office now.
A few good programs on at night this week, love Gordon Ramsey.
Stephen is a bit scarey isn't he?
Trust News 2010
Stacey Brings the X-Factor to Queenâs
19th January 2010
X-Factor star Stacey Solomon cheered up young patients at Queenâs Hospital with a surprise visit.
Stacey â who came third on the hit TV show and won over fans with her down-to-earth attitude â spent the morning on Tropical Lagoon childrenâs ward.
She was invited along by her sister Gemma, who is a student nurse working on the ward.
Stacey said: âItâs lovely to be here, to see where my sister is working and to have a nice quiet visit rather than a huge event. I love doing things like this and spending time with the patients.â
Stacey, who arrived alone and dressed down in comfy clothes, spent a long time with each child, chatting easily and joining in with their games.
And there was an emotional reunion with Kayleigh Tyler, six, who she first met when the X-Factor finalists visited Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Stacey, who comes from Dagenham and had son Zachary at King George Hospital, said: âIâm so proud of my sister training to be a nurse. I couldnât do it. I think I would be in tears every day seeing the children.â
But Staceyâs visit put a big smile on the faces of the youngsters.
Fifteen-year-old Chloe Foster from Harold Hill said: âStacey is absolutely lovely, but it was so surreal to meet her. I supported her when she was on the X-Factor, and when you see someone on television so much you feel like you already know them.â
Gemma Solomon, Staceyâs sister, has been working on Tropical Lagoon as part of her nurse training.
She said: âItâs so nice bringing Stacey in to work so she can meet the children. Iâm getting used to people staring at us whenever I am with her now. Itâs so funny.â
She added: âIâve only been at Queenâs Hospital for two weeks, but Iâm absolutely loving it. Itâs a great hospital and I love the layout of the wards, as well as the staff and patients of course. Iâm already hoping I can come back here for my second rotation.â
Hopefully work wasn't too taxing for you today if the boss went to Germany.
I am just watching the tv awards tonight, and Horizon because I am not a fan of Gordons.
How annoying that CBB isn't on until 10.20pm tonight.
thanks for the piccy of Stacy, I bet she was lovely with the youngsters there.
But she does look so orange next to that little fella.
I have a feeling that the youngsters in Hospital don't get the tan treatment on the NHS.
She is lovely isn't she?
I've got to go to the PO in the morning to pay some money to the PM's lot before the 31st of Jan.
Well the news broke today that the world is going to be treated to a mini Chanelle in a few months time.
Didn't work today, it was a bit rainy, and the drive is still icy. It's slippy to walk on never mind drive.
I'll have to go out for provisions in the next few days, but it would be daft to risk dinging the van just for work.
That's my excuse anyway.
More of the snow gone though. Lawn only 50% covered now,
No we don't usually have snow for so long Mollie. It's been lying for over a month now.
I don't think there's any more forecast though? Only rain.
Hope you and your daughter get over your coughs soon Mollie.
Looks like Stacey has been taking make-up tips from Chantelle Hicky?
Had a busy morning really.
Shower then Post office then Butchers, got some lovely Black Pud and big Sausages, went to paper shop for paper, drove to the Dentist, no appointment, just arrived and acted soft, he drained an abscess gave n=me prescription for Anti-Bio's, went to get hair cut, No.2 all over, that's sorted now.
Went home and cooked 2 Sausage, boiled 1 black pud and heated a plastic tub of baked beans.
Need to try and sort someone out to do my toe tails, will have to look into it.
Can't really do them myself any longer, would be ok if I could unplug them.
When you are on stage of in front of all these spot lights like Stacey you usually have a lot of tan and make-up.
Hicky..
an abscess, that sounds nasty. Was it painfull when the dentist drained it? Do you have to go back to the dentist when you have finished the anti-biotics? Good job they saw you, and didn't leave it.
Glad the dentist visit didn't put you off your brekkie though.
Will you find a chiropodist to do your toe nails? Yes it does get diffiult getting to your toe nails, and you don't want to strain yourself. I have to find a chiropodost for one for my lad, because his big toe nail looks all yellowy. I think it must of got a bit infected. I think you have to check they are registered first, so you get a good one.
Yes Stacy probably has to be extra orange so she looks good on stage under all those lights.
Daughter had another bad night in the chair, coughing all night. But I know it will probably take a few nights to clear the cough, because mine did. My friends daughter is the same age, and she got it too. My friend took the daughter to the docs, and doc said it was a bad virus going round, and you just had to wait for it to take its course. These viruses are so horrible. I still feel tired and weak after it, but my cough is easing.
Emptybox
Yes ice sounds a good enough excuse to me, for you not to risk going out to work. ....but of course, you must arrange to get your provisions, you musn't go without your special Saturday night treat meal.
Gosh, snow around for a month, that is a long time.
It is still a lot milder round here now.
CBB...Can't make up my mind who I want to go on Friday. Steven is annoying, but an interesting HM, Sisco wants to stand up the the "boss man" Vinnie which could be interesting, and I just really like Ivana, she is so nice, and does seem to try her best at tasks.
--------------------
The Dentist just drained it, I don't feel anything these days, after having needles etc all my life it's never bothered me whatever they do.
I go back Tuesday at 9.25, he will look at the X-Ray and see what needs doing or if it needs to come out.
In the meantime he said keep washing mouth out with salt water and taking the Anti-Biotics.
It was a good job I went when I did, but I was getting a bit concerned.
I'll see if there are any Toe Nail cutters on the NHS, rather than go private.
That's the problem with a Virus, it has to take it's course.
It should be Stephen and Ivana going Friday.
---------------------
Glad the tooth didn't bother you at the dentist. Hopefully the anti-biotics should quickly clear up the infection. Can you get some of those yogurts, or yogurt drinks with friendly bacteria? They are supposed to help your system if you are on anti-biotics.
Yes you may as well get an NHS foot person, if you can. After all you have been paying into the NHS long enough to deserve use of it.
at Alex in the bath, and Nicola helping him out.
thanks for the nice Corrie piccy.
I know the Yogurts you mean, have taken them before had some the other week, will get another pack.
I rang the Surgery, they say I can fill a form in but there's a waiting list.
She said ring the local private place for now and get them sorted then fill in the form later, but get seen to first.
Nicola is 2nd fave behind Vinnie now.
But things will change after 2 leave tomorrow.
I watched CBB tonight, Vinnie is in a world of his own.

'Terry Duckworth' robbed by biker
January 21, 2010FORMER Coronation Street star Nigel Pivaro has been robbed... as he made a film to help ex-cons.The actor, who played Corrie bad boy Terry Duckworth, was filming in his home city of Salford when a thief on an off-road motorbike struck.
He sped past Mr Pivaro and his crew and snatched a ÃÂĢ400 piece of sound equipment. The actor, who now works as a journalist, and his producer Julia Berg chased after the culprit, but he escaped.
The incident happened near the Cusson's factory on Littleton Road, Kersal, less than a quarter of a mile from Forest Bank Prison.
The film was funded by the probation service and prisoners' charities and gives information about housing, benefits, getting back into work and battling addictions. Replacement equipment was found to complete the film.
Mr Pivaro said: "The equipment would be of no use to the lad and he would find it impossible to sell it on. It was used for picking up sound from radio microphones. The sad thing is it will probably end up at the bottom of the river.
"It is ironic that the film that seeks to help offenders go straight was put in jeopardy by a criminal who might possibly be in need of the same advice one day."
