And a very Happy Christmas to you and your Family also.

And a Happy Winters Solstice to all.
At least the days start getting lighter now.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas too.
I like your piccies.
Hicky
Glad to hear you were carefull today with all that ice around today. Yes you definately do not need to slip on all that ice. It was icy here too this morning. We had had a hail shower, so it looked really white. Still no snow though.
Emptybox
wonder if it is cold up by you, or if you have had any more snow?
I have had to do a lot of sorting out of accounts stuff for the accountant today, but I did manage to get out with OH for brekkie in Asda first thing.
21st December piccy..
. .
Well, I managed to get the Jag defrosted today, and went into town to do some banking and buy some Xmas booze, that I'll be taking to my Brother's.
The roads are better than Yesterday, but otherwise there hasn't been any thaw, and everything is still white. Except in the middle of town, where the pavements are all slush - yuck!
Your car park sounds quite hazardous Hicky.
ETA: Oh Hi Mollie. I didn't see you there.
I suppose if you can't have snow, then hail is the next best thing?
Vicky: I want a new man!
Monday 21 December 2009 12:26PM
In Weatherfield, Molly Dobbs is juggling two blokes.
But in real life actress Vicky Binns would settle for just the one.
The 27-year-old has admitted she wants to nab herself a new boyfriend.
She told the Mirror: "I'd really like to meet someone. People who say they're happy to be single are lying! We all want a gorgeous boyfriend, don't we? I've been single for about six months, I'm 27 and I'd like someone in my life."
She admitted, however, that there are plus sides to being unattached.
"It is amazing being able to do your own thing. When you're on your own you romanticise what it's like to be in a relationship."
Being in a relationship is certainly no bowl of cherries for Molly, who is desperate to start a new life with lover Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).
This Christmas, Kevin and Molly will make a pact to tell their other halves Sally (Sally Whittaker) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) about their affair.
But there's a dramatic twist in the tale when Sally reveals she has breast cancer.
Vicky said: "Sally hasn't had much sympathy so I think it's going to switch people's emotions. It's been a real rollercoaster for Molly and I'm knackered by the end of the day."
Was a bit busy at work today, so couldn't spend a lot of time on the web.
It's -3C again outside, but I'm not working tomorrow.
My O/H did some shopping today, we are going to Costco tomorrow to get some meat stuff in, it's bulk buying there.
Have had to store some food in the garage, it's pretty cool there and I've run out of room in the kitchen.
I'm glad the nights are going to get lighter now, about time.
Just heard Diana is doing a tour, will have to find out a bit more about it, it's only just been released.
And Costco did have the crab legs on sale, the American owner wanted them to put them out for sale, so I got some.
Got some Sushi as well.
Got quite a few cuts of meat, which has now been frozen.
We are now ready for the festive season.
Got some frozen cookie packs ready to put in the oven to make fresh cookies.
It's -1deg C outside now so another frosty night.
I was out driving today, but the roads weren't too bad.
I'm working tomorrow, will probably be off then for a few days, not sure what i'm working next week.

Hicky
glad you managed to get your food shopping today.
I got mine delivered by Sainsburys today.
Do you intend to see Diana in concert?
Hope they don't work you too hard tommorrow, and take care in that car park as the temps are still below freezing.
Are you watching the Christmas celeb Come Dine wth Me? I am enjoying it.
Me and OH, and another couple had an invite to my friends today for some Christmas snacks. It is only a few miles up the valley, we have had no snow, but they had got about 3 inches there. Looked very pretty on the mountains.
22nd December advent piccy...
I like this piccy, but incase you arent an Elvis fan, here is an alternative..
Still all white here.
We had a bit more snow last night, but nothing too much.
I'm still intending to go to my Brother's for Christmas, but the forecast for Thursday and Friday aren't all that good. If the roads are bad I'll stay at home in the warm and see him a few days later.
I hope the snow holds off though.
Bet it made a change for you to see it Mollie.
Are you going to try to catch Diana in concert Hicky?
I think I'll have to do some food shopping tomorrow myself. Just in case I get snowed in over Christmas.
I'm well stocked now anyway, will take a month to eat it all.
Would love to see Diana on her tour, think she will be doing another after her Album is out anyway.
Was hoping to see Diana again in the Westend show, if I can anyway.
I watched CDWM earlier, thought it very good, it's hard with these fussy eaters though.
Had some Sushi for tea with a crabs leg on fresh baked French bread which was part pre-baked.
I like Elvis anyway.
----------------
Hi Emptybox.
Hope the weather stays good for you.
I'd love to see Diana again, but this tour will sell out in hours, i'll probably wait till she comes to Liverpool.
I have a feeling that the venue's are a bit small, she would fill a big Arena, I'm sure.
Hopefully you can make it ok to your brothers Emptybox, because I think it is due to get milder after tonight. It is above freezing here now, which it wasn't last night.
Yes it did make a nice change to see some thick snow. We dont get it here because we are at the bottom of the valley now.
If you are food shopping tommorrow, it is probably best to go early before the crowds hit the supermarkets.
Hicky..
I like the way you have done the Elvis and teddy pics together.
Yes i enjoyed CDWM. I think Sherrie was bonkers on it.
Those venues do sound like small ones, I think new artists do tend to start with small venues, then go to bigger ones if they sell well. Last time Lilly Allen toured, the closest venue to us was a small one in Britol, but now she is more popular, she appeared in the large one in Cardiff, which meant we got chance to see her. So hopefully, Diana will come to Liverpool at a later date so you get to see her.
Well it's -2 here now, and it's supposed to be a very hard frost here tonight.
Tomorrow is supposed to be dry, but there's more snow forecast for Christmas Eve.
But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Very quiet here at work, was in at 6.15.
Realised there was no canteen or food today at work so bought a sandwich on the way in with some crisps.
The car park was like a skating rink again and the surrounding roads as well with there being no production today.Anyway, Happy Wednesday to all.
Parked up and got out of the car park and through the chip card operated turnstiles into the factory area then remembered I'd forgotten my sandwich's, walked back to the turnstiles but they wouldn't let me out because they are on a timer and I have to wait a few minutes between using my card.
Waited another minute and the card worked again and I got out and walked back to the car park and skated over to my car, got my bag with the food and headed back to the turnstile but it wouldn't let me in because the timer was still running from when I came out, had to stand another couple of minutes and it let me in again.
Great thing this technology but it's to stop people passing out the card to the one behind them to get in/out.

Just look at some of these crabs legs, and the ones I got yesterday weigh 8oz each.
It's nice to see these blokes after watching them fishing in Alaska.
I got 6 of the legs for ÂĢ26 and they are so nice.
I don't think you can buy them direct from the states according to this web site anyway.
Just had to show you the site, yummy big crabs legs shown here.

Year in Pictures 2009: 'Coronation Street'
Wednesday, December 23 2009, 10:00 GMT
By Kris Green, Soaps Editor
Life on Coronation Street is by no means a peaceful one.
Carla's (Alison King) swift-but-temporary exit signalled the beginning of Tony Gordon's (Gray O'Brien) final few chapters of Weatherfield life.
Despite Maria's accusations of murder at the top of the year, Tony slowly wheedled his way into the life of the woman he widowed; delivering her baby in a beach hut, before proposing, suffering a heart attack, confessing his sins to Roy Cropper (David Neilson) on his deathbed and finally coming clean to the police.
Elsewhere on the Street, Molly (Vicky Binns) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) embarked on an affair of the heart, while Ken (William Roache) found his perfect match in Martha Fraser (Stephanie Beacham).
Here, DS takes an in-pictures look at some of the key moments from the last year in Coronation Street.

Hicky....What a right kerfuffle you had getting into work today, you couldnt manage without those sarnies on a cold day though.
Are you off work until the New Year now?
It is not so cold here today, above freezing anyway.
So as we have not had snow, we decided to go for a nice drive up the mountains to find the snow, so the dog and kids could have a bit of fun. Half an hour drive found us a nice accumulation of fresh snow, that got deeper and heavier as we climbed the mountain. We all had fun, and the kids made a nice snowman.
Emptybox
hope the weather is ok for you to go over to your brothers. Is it tommorrow you are due to go?
Hey everyone.
We've had the heating on a lot lately due to it being cold lol, not snowed here either at all, just want Christmas out of the way PMSL. Still playing on the Playstation has it's benefits, not been posting here much due to the forum playing up but liking things elsewhere.
I'm loving Eastenders, going to miss Archie he was a great baddie I much prefer him to Dirty Den. Can't wait for it to win lots of awards again in 2010, Corrie on the other hand has been dire i've only watched for the Tony storyline but the Molvin storyline is awful.
we have had to have our heating on a lot more than normal too. I am not looking forward to the bill though.
Me and the family love the Playstation too. We have just bought some songs to have a laugh with on the kareoke game Singstar. We are all awful singers though.
Glad to hear you are enjoying Eastenders. I love the soaps at Christmas. My fave is Corrie though.
Hicky..
eeeekkk, that is some big crab.
thanks for the dancing on ice news, and the Corrie news.
It's snowing like heck here now and have the Doc/Nurse at 9am in the morning.
Glad you found some snow, haven't seen much here besides hail until now.
We had another couple of crab legs earlier, yummy, I did them like it showed on the advert article with a dipping pot of melted butter.
Take the meat out of the legs and heat in Microwave, then dip in butter using a fork.
Well that worked OK.
Hi Darloboy.
We've had the heating on most of the time, but turn it down on the hall stat to 13 at night, just to keep a base heat if it gets too cold.

The secret of a perfect roast potato? Not a lot of people know that (but Michael Caine does)
By Rose Prince
Last updated at 7:56 AM on 23rd December 2009
Perfect recipe: Actor Michael Caine
Nigella crisps hers in duck fat, Delia prefers lard. Jamie Oliver 'chuffs' his up in a pan with lemon and rosemary, while Heston Blumenthal insists on using a rare Scottish spud.
A consensus, it seems, has yet to be reached on how to make the ultimate roast potato.
But stand aside, celebrity chefs. For not a lot of people know that the person who serves the best roast potatoes is Michael Caine.
Interviewed on Desert Island Discs on Sunday, the actor proudly boasted that his Christmas versions are the finest of all. And after testing his method yesterday, I have to agree.
So what's his secret? Caine swears by soaking parboiled potatoes in cold extra virgin olive oil before cooking, allowing the fat to be absorbed deep into the spuds' flesh.
He then pops them onto a baking tray and into a hot oven for an hour and, low and behold, they emerge with a honeycomb coating that is deep, crisp and even.
But if you think that cooking up the perfect roasties is just a matter of following these few, brief guidelines, think again. There's much more to potato perfection than that . . .
THE RIGHT TYPE OF POTATO
For the classic British roast potato, you need a 'floury' spud. These are the main crop, autumn-harvested varieties.
Best known is Maris Piper, sold in every supermarket and known as a good all-rounder. But if you really want to push the boat out, look north to the ancient Scottish varieties, which were originally developed for boiling and eating with butter.
Lucy Carroll, who grows rare breed potatoes on her Northumberland farm, says the blue-skinned Arran Victory is the king of roasties, a claim backed up by forensic chef Heston Blumenthal.
Bred in 1918 on the Scottish Isle of Arran and named to celebrate the end of World War I, Arran Victory's inner flesh is snowy white and has a strong, distinctive taste.
Its natural dryness also guarantees crispness. If boiled unpeeled, its skin loses its blue colour.
Other good varieties include the sweet-flavoured Dunbar Rover; British Queen with its traditional deep eyes, King Edwards (red and white), and the red Duke of York.
New or waxy potatoes can be roasted, but will never develop a lastingly crisp skin.
THE RIGHT PREPARATION
Always peel the potatoes, digging out any eyes or blemishes. Leaving the peel on the potato might add negligible amounts to its nourishment value, but, frankly, do we care? It's Christmas - and well-being is far from our minds.
Fibre is what muesli is for and, besides, the skins actually contain no more vitamins and minerals than the flesh.
Cut the peeled potatoes into halves, put into a pan of cold water and bring to the boil. Add 1â2 tsp of salt to the water. Salt speeds the crumbling of cells, making the potato a fraction crunchier.
The right roasties: Choose a 'floury' potato to cook and always peel them first
Some cooks, including Jamie Oliver, add lemon or garlic cloves to the water, but aside from messing with the true flavour, this seems like just another (tedious) attempt to Mediterranean-ise a British favourite.
Parboil the potatoes for seven minutes if the halves are large, five minutes if small.
Drain into a colander and leave to steam - and dry out - for a few minutes. You are now ready for the next stage.
THE RIGHT SURFACE
To achieve crunchiness during roasting, roughen the edges of the parboiled potatoes by shaking the colander in a circular motion.
Some cooks, such as Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and Constance Spry, suggest using a fork to scrape the surface of each potato. But provided they have not been over-boiled and are not too soft, the colander shake is both easier and quicker.
My mother always dusted her potatoes with a little white flour to ensure they stayed crisp once out of the oven.
Nigella Lawson sprinkles them with semolina. If you use the right type of floury potatoes, however, adding flour shouldn't be necessary.
THE RIGHT FAT
Crisp and tasty: Michael Caine soaks his boiled potatoes in cold olive oil before roasting
Every cook has a different view on the fat issue. If you want to follow Michael Caine's lead, put 1cm of cold extra virgin olive oil into the pan and add the parboiled potatoes. He also adds a few rosemary and sage leaves.
'Marinating' them in the cold oil allows the fat to be absorbed into their fuzzy surface and makes a thicker crust.
But good results are also possible with other fats. Duck or goose fat, with its high smoking point (the point at which the oil burns), produces rich potatoes that stay crisp long after roasting.
Pork lard and beef dripping give spuds a distinct, old-fashioned flavour.
But avoid shortening or refined fats such as sunflower or vegetable oil. Aside from being less healthy - they contain high levels of trans fats - they are also deodorised and add nothing to the flavour of your potatoes.
THE RIGHT WAY TO ROAST
The right heat is crucial. The Caine cold oil method, where the potatoes are put in unheated oil, flies in the face of most recipes.
Most experts, including Delia Smith, recommend putting the oil into the roasting pan and heating it before you put in the potatoes.
Delia recommends 220C/425C/gas 7). But most fats spoil at more than 200C/400F/gas 6), and a longer roast at a lower heat (190C/375F/gas 5) will produce an evenly-coloured, golden roast potato with a thicker crust and no burnt bits.
Either way, put the pan on the upper shelf of the oven. Depending on the make and potency of your oven - and this must be taken into account - the potatoes should take approximately one hour to cook.
Once done, lift them out with a slotted spoon and keep warm in a serving dish. Do not leave the potatoes sitting in the cooking fat.
They will now stay crisp for at least 20 minutes, giving you enough time to carve.
I don't think it was as cold as forecast here last night, and the temperature during the day was above zero, so we've had a bit of thawing here. Still a lot of snow though.
It's supposed to be another hard frost tonight, and snow again tomorrow, so we'll just have to see.
Mollie, I'm not actually travelling till about 11am on Christmas Day, so I hope it's better by then.
I went to the supermarket this afternoon, and as you predicted, it was very busy. I had to queue for a parking space, but I'm now all provisioned up.
Those recipes for roast pots look interesting Hicky.
I normally just use the frozen oven roasties if I want roast potatoes.
I mostly just have boiled or mashed potatoes though. Although I do like a baked potato.
Hi darlo.
I have my heating on a lot as well, but I don't have it on all night.
I use my electric blanket to heat the bed for an hour before I go up, then I rely on my 15 tog duvet to keep me warm.
The temperature here is hovering about on the freezing point, not sure what it's going to do later, we'll all just have to be careful while we are out.
I'm off to see the Nurse in 20 minutes
I always do the Roast spuds in the Goose Fat they seem fine, I parboil them of course for 5 minutes then let them dry out a bit,

hope you got on ok at the nurses's appointment.
Thanks for the roasties info, I love them nice and crispy. And thanks for the Santa link.
It is not so cold here today, and the forecast is much milder for tommorrow. Nearly all the ice/frost melted today.
Emptybox
I hope you are able to complete your journey trouble free tommorrow. xx
Hicky
do you have some family coming to you for Christmas dinner tommorrow? Or will it be just you and OH? We have got chicken and turkey this year, because my boys prefer chickent to turkey, but OH and daughter prefer turkey. I am having cheese and onion flan. I love that, but it has to be on a treat basis because I don't usually eat flan because the pastry is so fattening.
I bet it looks pretty by you now you have some snow Hicky.
Happy Christmas Eve everyone.
Temperature around freezing point at the moment.
I think I'll definitely attempt to go out tomorrow, unless it's actually snowing.
I'll take a shovel and a flask of hot tea etc.
But if the roads are bad I may well turn round and come home.
I'd rather watch the telly and enjoy a roast chicken dinner by myself than risk getting stuck.
I'm sure the roads here will be OK, and the same at my Brother's end, but there are hilly country roads in-between, that might not be so good.
Just have to see what the morning brings.
thank you for the Christmas greetings.
What a clever personalised piccy that is.
Yes probably best to stay home, than risk getting stuck, but hopefully it wont' be too bad tommorrow. And as you say, you must remember to take stuff with you....., don't forget water, and plenty of warm clothes as well as your shovel.
Bit if we dont see you call in, I hope you have a good journey tommorrow, and an enjoyable Christmas day.
Do you realise this is the first time we have been able to chat on Christmas Eve because C4 always used to close us down over the bank hols?
Yes I forgot we usually got cut off in our prime.
Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas Eve.
We have just been watching MrBean celebrating his Christmas.
take care on those roads if you decide to go tommorrow Emptybox.
Had a busy day really, started out at the Docs to see the Nurse at 9am, got home and had Brekky, O/H was out in town to get a few last minute pressies, made her Brekkie when she got in.
Had to go out again to get Egg,s they had all gone yesterday in the shop when she looked.
A few of my lads called in with some little ones, went out to my MIL's Birthday Party tonight, had a Chinese Banquet, yummy, far too much for me, I was full by the time the main meal came.
All the snow has gone now, 3deg C outside so don't think it will freeze tonight.
I'm having dinner at my Lads tomorrow, it must be the first year that we haven't had a gang for dinner , can't believe it, but he wanted to do it himself.
It looks like it will be OK for you tomorrow then Emptybox, hope you can make it anyway.
As you say Mollie, It's going to be strange being able to chat all the time, forgot about that.
I'll say goodnight, and hopefully see you after Christmas, but if I stay home I'll pop in Tomorrow.
I hope you both have a lovely day.
What a nice change for you and your OH to have a break from cooking at Christmas Hicky.
Hope you get away and have a good journey Emptybox.
My family all up and waiting to open their pressies now.
Doggie already been on a walk, and had her brekkie, the streets were like sheets of ice here.
They love their bikes anyway, so many gifts, wow.
Then went to my Lads for them all to open more pressies with more little ones.
Then had Dinner at my Lads, very nice too.
Will be having the little ones here quite a bit over Chrimbo and new Year
so I'll be looking after them quite a lot as they have some sleepovers as well.
Have another Birthday party on the 28th, for the same one that the party was for last night.
Not sure if I have to work next week at all, boss said he would ring me if he needs me.
Else I go back on the 4th

sounds like you have had a busy and nice day, and with another birthday party to come too, how nice.
Hope you got some nice pressies.
I have had a good day too. Nice meal, and some nice pressies. I got Goks' book, "How to work your wardrobe" and perfume, bath stuff etc, and a JLS book, and a couple of colourful necklaces, so am well pleased. OH is happy with the digital thermometer and others stuff he had. Curent temperature currently plus 2 degrees. TV temp is 40degrees.
As Emptybox has not called in yet, hopefully that means he made the journey to his brothers. Hope he has had a good day.
That will be nice if you get the whole week off next week.
I am going to watch the Royales now with the family.
Yep, had a good day allright.
Outside Temp +3deg C so it's ok for the time being.
You can take your inner ear temp and your forehead to see if you are too hot and have an infection, it's great fun.
You can aim it at your plugs in your sockets to see if it is overheating.
And it should tell you the temperature in your fridge if you aim it at the right place.
I'll get a bit of time to catch up on some recorded programs anyway.
It would be nice to get the week off, but i'm not that bothered, I would probably only go in for 1 day anyway.
Have a nice day tomorrow anyway.
I watched Ali dancing tonight on the Strictly Christmas thingy, glad she won, made up I was.

Hope you are having a good Boxing day.
Yes, hopefully as we didn't see him around yesterday, it looks like Emptybox made it to his brothers.
You can use those thermometers, for all sorts by the sound of it.
We are going away tommorrow to Butlins for 4 days, so I wont be around till new Years Eve. I have been busy washing and packing all day. We are staying in their new hotel, and we get breakfast and dinner too, which is good because me and daughter get a break from cooking. Luckily our Tescos vouchers paid for the hols, which makes it even better.
it is much milder here today, I wonder if that is an end to the cold weather? I somehow doubt it though, as we are only in December.
Have a godo week all.
Hope Emptybox had a good Christmas day.
See you some time next week.
Enjoy your 4 day Holiday, you'll have a great time, we'll probably have cold weather again in Feb.
Those Tesco vouchers have done you well then.
The Hotel sounds good anyway, and some meals thrown in, can't be bad.
Hope Emptybox is enjoying himself as well.
Hope you and Emptybox have a good week. I bet you have fun with all the littlies coming to visit you and your OH.
I look forward to reading what you and Emptybox have been doing when i get back.
Goodnight Hicky.
See you soon.
