Hi Mollie & Emptybox.

Now the results of all the voting is out it shows that if Olly had have been evicted in week seven as he had the lowest public vote then Stacey would probably won the whole thing, but because Jedward was instead then it changed the whole course of the show.

And for Emptybox.

A pea got stuck in the Lamb. which made it a Lamp.
And I ran out of Lamb so had to add a few breasts of Duck, as my lad was having lunch as well.

There's not much else you can do if you get cards from your Dads friends, you are bound to.

emptybox ...... Hi Mollie. I know I shouldn't, but i always like watching the chuckle brothers whenever my youngest nephew has it on telly. My Dad got a card today from one of his old pals, so I had to send a card back telling him of the sad news. Not easy. report · permalink

No that can't be easy for you having to write and tell an old pal of your dads, the sad news.

You would be surprised at the popularity of the Chuckle Brothers amongst different ages. The theatre was full last night, and they were not just yougsters, quite a few adults, and pensioners too. They were so funny, a really good show. The same old panto type jokes, and their "to me, to you" of course.   So feel free to carry on watching them. lots of other adults obviously do.

Good morning all
A bit damp here this morning, but feels mild again.
We all had a good night last night, my kids have loved the Chuckle brothers since they were toddlers. The fair/ice rink was busy last night because it was nice and dry, and the lights and looked so pretty.

Day off today Hicky?

Hicky
I didn't notice your lamp dinner.
Interesting what you said about Jedward going. Simon obviously knows how the votes are going, so can probably plan the show accordingly.

Today I have to try and finish my Christmas cards, and get a bit of food shopping. Think I will go to Lidl for a change.
Have a good day all.

Wonder if it an outdoor work day for you today Emptybox?

I doubt it Mollie?
It's raining at the moment. Might brighten up later?

I
wasn't watching them Mollie. My youngest nephew was.......I just happened to be in the room at the same time. And just happened to stay in the room till the end of the programme.

Probably do my accounts, if it stays wet.

Good Afternoon / Evening Everyone.

Found the fuel pump, it's a new one so it should do the job.
It's probably not made by the original part manufacturer, but Landrover don't make car parts anyway, they just fit them in the vehicle, it was half the price anyway, will get it Thursday and then sort out the fitting of it with my garage.

Just had a lovely Toasty with Cheshire cheese, Italian smoked sausage and smoke Panacetta which I fried with the sausage slices, yummy, then my O/H wanted one as well.

Will have to go and make another pan of that fresh veg soup, it's so nice.
Very addictive though.

I'll just check the temperature on the car roof, 40.6F, that's not too bad anyway, don't think it will be freezing.
Hicky
Just made a lovely soup, for the stock I added 2 chicken and 1 beef stock cube, with a couple of tea spoons of Gravy granules to the 560ml of boiling water.

After I had added it to the veg mix in the pan and brought it to the boil and simmered for 15 minutes I added another 4 tsp of Gravy Granules again the brought it back to the boil.

Put the Electric mulch thingy into the mix and turned it into soup in a minute or less.
Yummy, O/H loved it.
Just checking outside temp: 40.1F on car roof, not too bad really, don't think it will freeze tonight now.
Hicky
Good evening all
Hicky... do you have a thermometer glued to the roof of your car?   Or do you take the thermometer out with you and hold it on the roof each time?
The new "Heat" is out, and it is for 2 weeks so shows the Christmas tv now. Stacey is on the front cover, with a short interview with her inside.

It is the home edders Christmas party tommorrow. We get to see their panto, and we do our dance routine to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Chrsitmas".I have been busy practising my steps tonight, so hope I dont forget them tommorrow.   How on earth do they manage to remember their routine, and sing at the same time on X factor?

Hicky...Sounds like your OH is appreciating all your latest cooking efforts.   Is it the casserole mix of veg from Sainsburys you use?  that is the only mixed pack of fresh veg I could see in our Saisnburys today?
M
Good Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

To take the temperature of anything I just aim the Laser pointer on the Thermal gun at it, so I open the little front window, aim the laser at my car roof and press the trigger and it gives the reading in 'F' or 'C' whatever you want, so I can tell if it's freezing or not outside.
I can aim it at my forehead and see what the temperature of that is.
I use it for cooking as well, it only tells you the surface temperature of course but thats good enough.

My fuel pump comes tomorrow, the garage would only get the best and that was twice the price, so they will just fit it for me.

I've got the 'Heat' mag, and a load of others as well, it gives me something to read, then I pass them to my Lads G/F to read.

I have used the caserole veg mix Mollie but the Soup mix is in a round tall pot and it says 'Winter veg soup mix', ask the staff, can't remember if it's with the caserole mix.

My accountant has done mine, just waiting for a letter from the Inland revenue confirming my bill.

Happy Wednesday anyway.
Hicky
Good morning all

Emptybox...
yes it is the dance routine today, so hope my memory is in gear.

Hicky..
work day today?
Hope you are not too busy, and they give you a good brekkie.
That thermometer sounds a great invention. Where did you get it from?
I will ask someone next time I go to Sainsburys if our store has those veg, but I could only see the casserole ones yesterday.
I will have to ask our accountant if she has done my OH's tax yet?  I remember I did answer a load of questions for her recently.
Glad you have your supply of mags. I love the mags at Christmas time.   Some of them I just flick through on the shelves because they are expensive for what they are, but i find Heat quite good for interviews, and the fact it has tv listings, dvd, cd and book recommendations too.
Time to chose something to wear for the party.
I think it has to be the red dress and black leggings.
Day 16.......have you got your tree up yet Hicky?
M
Good Morning Mollie.

Yep, I'm at work today, had quite a bit to do as well, didn't interfear with the brekkie though.

This is the Laser Thermometer I got, Love it.
You can get a reading off anything.
Will soon tell if you have a temperature.

Coronation Street Weekly Update, December 14 2009

I’ve wrapped, packed and warmed up me liberty bodice before heading up north this weekend for Christmas. While I’m away the lovely Karen Jankel will be writing the weekly updates for the next two weeks so spare a thought for Karen, locked here in the weekly update office as you’re all tucking into your turkey and sprouts. And so, without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.

Deirdre doesn’t know which way to turn when she’s caught in the battle of the Barlows as Ken goes head to head with Peter over him opening the bar. Ken meets with a hack from the Gazette who splashes Bar Wars all over the front page, dragging in the Barlow top 10 misdemeanours for good measure too. Adultery, jail, murder and John Lindsay - the Barlow history’s laid bare all over tomorrow’s hamster cage lining. Ken even calls a public meeting in the Rovers to garner support against Peter’s new bar but he shoots himself in the foot when Peter turns up and finds out what’s going on and then refuses to let Ken see little Simon over Christmas. It serves Ken right, if you ask me.

Deranged Dev goes into manic overdrive when he finds out that Matt from the golf course is engaged to Sunita. Not only that, they’re planning to wed. Dev couldn’t care less about the twins or his ex-wife but just because he doesn’t want anything to do with them doesn’t mean he’s going to let Matt take over his wife and kids without a fight. When his plan to turn on the smarm backfires with Sunita (is it just me or does she look like she’s got fatter lips than she had last time around?) he drowns his sorrows in the Rovers but the only one feeling sorry for him is himself.

Over at Underworld, the world-famous Christmas party is a no-go this year. Carla tells her stitchers there’s a credit crunch on and they need to tighten their belts. Well, well, how the mighty have fallen. If you cast your mind back to the very first time we ever saw Carla, she roared into the Underworld Christmas party with a bottle of champagne in each hand and another crate load in the back of her flash sports car. This festive season she’s taken to being questioned at the police station about Jimmy Dockerson, Tony and Liam. So busy has she been on police business this yule that she’s forgotton to have her roots touched up.

At the Websters’, Rosie takes her cleavage for an outing to the Rovers to wobble in front of Peter Barlow in the hope that he’ll give her a job in the bar. He tells her he’ll consider her assets. Sophie’s planning her full-body baptism while Kevin continues his creepy Molly lust.

In the Rovers, the panto auditions are in full swing and after a bit of drama, the cast is, er, cast. Graeme is Buttons, the ugly sisters are Sean and Jesse, Becky’s Dandini and Betty’s the fairy godmother. She would have scowled if she hadn’t been. I can’t wait to see this, it’s going to be great.

Norris and Freda celebrate after winning ÂĢ1,000 in a competition. Unfortunately for Graeme, as Norris found out this piece of good news, he was holding a ladder on top of which was Graeme, cleaning windows. The ladder slips from Norris’ grasp, Graeme falls and does himself a mischief and Norris has to take on Graeme’s window-cleaning round. He’s only doing it so he can peer into people’s bedroom windows, which sounds like the only reason I’d ever do that job too. Bu then I’m really nosy, me.

And finally, this week was the last time we’ll ever see Blanche Hunt on screen. It was poignant, but fitting, that her last word was: “Hallelujah!” and her absence has been explained with a trip to Portugal with her mate May Pen from the one o’clock club. You know May, she’s the one with the gay son who won best of show in Crufts.

And that’s just about that for this week. I’ll be back in the New Year and it’s over to Karen Jankel’s weekly update for the next two weeks. Merry Christmas, everybody!

Coronation Street writers this week were Peter Whalley, Martin Allen, Jayne Hollinson and Damon Rochefort. Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team.

Corrie's Betty in panto 34 years after first role

Corrie's Betty in panto 34 years after first role

Coronation Street's Betty Williams is reprising her role as the Fairy Godmother in a Weatherfield Christmas panto - a part she played 34 years ago.

The veteran character, played by 89-year-old Betty Driver, is the only member of the old guard to appear in this year's production of Cinderella.

Betty told The Mirror: "It took me back to when we did Cinderella in 1975."

She continued: "Mind you, I think my dress was a lot nicer this time around. It was fabulous with a gold bodice, a tiara and a magic wand. Last time I looked a swine. The dress was all white and very virginal."

Sparks are sure to fly in this year's panto, set in the Rovers, as Claire Peacock (Julia Haworth) beats Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) to the part of Cinders, and consequently has to kiss Becky's husband Steve (Simon Gregson), who plays Prince Charming.

Written by John Stape (Graeme Hawley), the play also features Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) and Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) as the Ugly Sisters.

The 1975 panto saw Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride) in the role of Cinderella, and its supporting cast included Annie Walker, Bet Lynch, Alf Roberts and Albert Tatlock.

Betty said: "Filming brought back lots of memories. I miss them all."

Corrie's panto will air on Christmas Eve at 8.30pm on ITV1

Hicky
Evening.

Another wet day here, but I was busy nonetheless.

I put up my Christmas decorations. Just a small decorated artificial tree, and tinsel over pictures and bookcases etc.
I just put up exactly the same as last year, though I might have a rethink next year and buy some different stuff, but that's a year away.

Also I filed my Tax Return online.
And all that was before lunch.

Got a few more Christmas cards, but only from people who I'd already sent ones to, so that was OK.

Enjoy yourself tonight Mollie.

Many thanks for the Christmas card Mollie.

Good morning all
December 17th and one week till Christmas eve.

Hicky
thanks for the Corrie news.   Wow, 34 years since she Betty did the last Corrie panto.
glad you got the card.  Still have a few more to do yet.

Emptybox
Sounds like you were busy yesterday. Glad you got your decs up now.

The panto and our dance went well yesterday.... well it was complete chaous back stage , but all had fun, and the kids were so cute. There was a cute baby in the panto dressed as a fairy carried by her mom. The keyboard player got stage freight and dropped out, after we had taken ages to set all his gear up.
We had a nice walk with doggie on the seafront last night when we had to take son to his drama practice last night.   There was hardy a soul around.

Time to finish my cards Ithink , so I can take them to post office later.
I hear some lucky folks may get snow today, but as usual none forecast here. It is bright and sunny though, so cant complain.

Have a good day all.
M
Hi Mollie.
Glad the dance went well, fancy the keyboard player getting stage fright, how awful for him/her.

Taking the car in in the morning for them to fit the new pump.

Going out this afternoon to do a bit of food shopping, and going to Halfords as well, might call in at the Burger Caravan which on the same site by the B&Q store.

35deg F outside, so it isn't very warm really.
Hicky

how on earth did you remember that it was Hicky's buffday, and I went and forgot?

But thankfully it is still Birthday Boys special day, so I am able to wish him a very  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HICKY.
I hope you are having a lovely day Hicky.

Me, Stacey and Chantelle have come to sing you a song.

Watch out for those mice today.
M
Hicky
did you go to B and Q burger van? When we did our usual walk with the dog past B and Q today, she slowed down and licked her lips, the nice smell of burgers was so strong.
Are you having a special dinner for your bithday today I wonder?

Qute a few of the little kids got stage fright yesterday when they realised people would be watching them on the stage. To be expected I guess. Even I was a bit nervous on the stage doing the dance routine, and made sure I was on the back row.

I am waiting for my asda grocery to be delivered. It is a free delivery this week, so saves me a job.
It didn't feel that cold today when we went out with the dog, but it was lovely and sunny.
I did hear some will have snow, but as usual there is none forecast here today.

I might be a genius Mollie? On the other hand, I might have got a reminder from Myspace?

We've had more snow this afternoon, and it did start to lie, but it's mostly melted now.
I went and did my weekly shop, just in case it gets too icy tomorrow or Saturday.
Not sure if there's more snow forecast for me or not? But I think there will be a frost anyway.

very clever there.

Good idea to make sure you are stocked up food wise, you never know when we will have a big snowfall, with all this global warming that the govenment want to tax us for.

I have just had a weeks grocery delivered by the nice helpfull Asda man. And for free too. I can recommend giving delivery a go.He even brings it straight into the kitchen.

Did you give your gardens a miss today?
M
Hi Mollie & Emptybox.

Outside temperature at the Mo -3C.

Thank you Mollie, for your lovely Birthday greeting here.
BirthdaySingersBirthdaySingersBirthdaySingersBirthday

I did stop at the Burger Van Mollie, couldn't resist, it was super cheese with onions and Burger MUstard and Chilli Tomato.

Went to My lads before and we had Chinese meals delivered, yummy.

You can't beat getting your Food delivered.

Have been on Facebook answering Birthday Greeting messages, have some more as well, must nip off.
Hicky
Hicky
what a nice birthday it sounds like you are having.  I think a take away with the family is just the job for a fun birthday.
I like the way you have put those 2 birthday pics together.

Glad to hear you have plenty of birthday messages.
That is a cold one by you now.
That thermometer is great.

Here are some nice balloons for the birthday boy...hold on tightly to them...
