Glad to hear you too got the lovely autumn weather.
Hope it was nice for Emptybox too.
How nice to get an invite out for Chrismtas already.
Hope you enjoyed your Sunday lunch, even if it was a quiet one.

It took just under an hour to cook 2 jacket potoeos. and we added some cheese and onion rissoles before they finished. OH did a pie tonight, so quck and easy it was. I think I am really going to use this cooker.

Yes you are right, tv is a lot cheaper than live theatre, but it is annoying how they keep putting prices up, meanwhile my OH just had to take a 10% pay cut. Oh well guess he is still in a job at the moment though. Sky just wrote to say they are increasing prices yet again. I told them to get rid of our hd to try and get it down a bit though.

X Factor time, some really good singers this year. Hope my faves stay.

Hi Emptybox.
I would think all Download speeds are at least 2mbps unless there is a problem with the line.
Use this link and see what you get.
http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/#
I didn't think it would be the Satellite Card, but the settings are critical obviously.

I've just had a lovely Lamb Pot Roast dinner I made, with Cabbage and carrots with Mash and gravy with Mint Sauce.

Just watching X-Factor.
Hicky
Emptybox
your post appeared after i sent mine...
but glad to hear you got the good weather, so got your own garden done.
Aaaww a mole, how cute, do you think you might see him if you peep out at night?
Shame you are too busy to make the coach trip ... Washing your hair...LOL

Well done on sorting out your satellite thing, glad to hear you didn't have a duff one after all. And at least you have proved that you can work out how to use it.
Hope you enjoyed your fish cake (if you went for that).

They were selling wrapped Halloween cakes in asda for ÂĢ1, so I bought 3 boxes for the kids who call. However the eat by date is 16 October, so we will just have to eat them all myself now.
And I bought a too, so I can make some soup from it.

The Final 12 Detailed.
------------------

These are the final 12 X Factor acts who will battle it out for top spot on the hit show.

Louis Walsh's hopefuls looking to make it big are girl groups Miss Frank and Kandy Rain and identical twins John and Edward Grimes.

Simon Cowell picked school teacher Danyl Johnson, 27, energy advisor Olly Murs, 25, and 33-year-old musician Jamie Archer for his over 25s category.

Meanwhile Cheryl Cole has taken on the boys' section, pinning her hopes on a second win in a row with students Lloyd Daniels, 16, and Joseph McElderry, 18. She also opted for Scottish crooner Rikki Loney, 21.

Dannii Minogue hopes to win glory with the girls after choosing Essex stunner Stacey Soloman, 19, Rachel Adedeji, 17, and Lucie Jones, 18.

After confirming the final 12, judge Dannii said: "This year is so exciting.

"Simon is already getting ready to win before the live shows have even begun, but Kylie and I have put together the star team.

"I'm confident I have the team to go all the way."

thanks for those nice X Factor pics. I have some faves already.
So far, none of the boys in Cheryls group stands out for me, the one she left waiting then said no, was the one I thought was the best singer.

In Simons group, I like the school teacher (not sure of name, Daniel, I think?)
In Louis's group I like Miss Frank, I think all 3 have really strong voices, and my fave so far is Danni's Stacey. I think she has a lovely voice.
But I guess the real test is next week when we see how they can perform under the pressure of being live.

That cooker looks great, and it's pretty cheap isn't it. May be picking one up then fairly soon. I love Gadgets that cook food quicker.
and of course if it saves money on electricity, it soon pays for itself.
The only down side people say is that the recipe book is not good, but they are bringing one out, but they said it is like an ordinary oven, just quicker, so it is trial and error. And of course you can use foil because it is not a microwave.

Goodnight all think I will read my mag in bed tonight.
Nighty Night Mollie.
I suppose they didn't produce a recipe book because they are manufacturers of Electrical appliances, and other companies produce books cooking or otherwise.

And it would take forever to test every item in an existing cookery book.
If they did that you wouldn't get a copy for 25 years.
Hicky
Hi Hicky, I tried the speedtester and got 3.3 Mb/s, but I don't often get much more than that, and sometimes a lot less.
Your speed depends on the distance to the exchange, and the quality of the line, and wether it's a shared line or not. I'm about 2Â― miles from the exchange.
Some people are still languishing on only 512 Kb/s, believe it or not.

I didn't realise the Halogen cooker was a little one like that Mollie, but it looks very interesting.

I had my fishcakes with chips and peas. I can make more elaborate things than that, but not much.
No doubt I'll improve now I've got to make all my own meals.
My main thing is making sure I get enough fruit and vegetables.

Night all.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.
I thought you should get at least 6.5Mbps on your line, even if it isn't close to an exchange, that's all I can get anyway.

You'kk soo get used to cooking more types of food, I think it's harder to mess it up than you think.

Just play it by ear, the first time may not be ok, but practice makes perfect don't forget.

Rula Lenska joins Coronation Street

There's some fantastic news on the official ITV Corrie site as they reveal that fab actress Rula Lenska is joining the soap.

She's only coming in for one episode, so don't get too excited, and you can read the full story here. She'll play a mate of Audrey Roberts.

Mind you, I reckon Corrie's missed a blinder with this one. Rula's a dead-spit for our Rita and should have been brought in to play a relative of Rita's, don't you think?

Corrie gets a new hunk for Sunita

The Sun today reveals that Corrie's getting a new hunky chunk in the shape of actor Christopher Colquhoun. Christopher will play the role of Matt Davis, the new fiance of Dev Alahan's ex-wife Sunita (Shobna Gulati). The paper says that Corrie bosses are planning a string of confrontations between Dev and Matt after Dev discovers Sunita's marriage plans.

Christopher has appeared on TV
in Casualty, The Bill and Holby City.

Well, I went back to get my Safety glasses back unmended, I said I thought they could put a new arm on, the girl said they probably could, I said why didn't you then, she said you'd have to pay, I said, I expected to pay.
She said i'll send them away again then, it will take a week.

I went and got a nice big fillet of Salt Fish, a big dressed crab and a couple of tubs of pickled Orkney Herrings, yummy.

Sunita's new fiancÃĐ cast in Corrie

Sunita's new fiancÃĐ cast in Corrie

WENN

Former Casualty star Christopher Colquhoun has landed a role in Coronation Street.

The 39-year-old actor, best known for his role as Simon Kaminski in the BBC One medical drama, will play a new love rival for Dev Alahan (Jimmy Harkishin) on the soap.

Colquhoun's character Matt Davis is the fiancÃĐ of Weatherfield returnee Sunita (Shobna Gulati), who was written out in 2006 after discovering that husband Dev had been unfaithful.

It is thought that Dev will be jealous when he hears about Sunita's wedding plans, leading to a string of heated bust-ups between the businessman and his ex-partner's new flame.

A source told The Sun: "Shobna and Christopher are delighted at the prospect of working together. There's a terrific chemistry between them and they are a perfect match physically and mentally."

Colquhoun will begin filming this week and appear on screen from December.

Hicky
Good evening all
Hicky.. thanks for the Corrie stuff.    I am glad to hear Sunita is back, I like her.  Rula Lenska shoud be interesting too.
What a fiasco with the glasses, but hopefully you should be all sorted next week. Hope you enjoy all your fish purchases. Did you sample any for dinner tonight?
We used the new cooker tonight, food came out lovely, and a lot quicker than in the main oven.
I reckon it would be ideal for you on your own Emptybox, because it would save on your electric. You can cook anything in it, that you can do in a conventional oven.

Yes Emptybox, it is difficult to get enough fruit and veg, fresh ones go off so quickly when you buy them. I have taken to buying a fresh pineaplle and putting the slices in the fridge, and it lasts a few days.
Hope you had it dry up there today Emptybox. They are promsing heavy rain here for tommorrow.

Am fed up with tax office, they changed OH's tax code, seems they lost the ÂĢ2000 we sent them, even though they cashed the cheque, and have taken ÂĢ2k off his tax code for this year.    So I had to plough through papers to sort it out. Luckily now we have a great new accountant who said we can just forward the info to her to sort them out.

2 Corries on tonight...
can't find much else of interest on tv today.
M
Good Evening Mollie.

If they don't fix my glasses I will try with an epoxy resin, that's all I can do.

I'll keep the Salt Fish for the weekend, it was a big fillet I've devided it into 3 i'll give my lad a piece.
It must keep for ever with it being salted, you don't keep it in a fridge or freeze it.
I'll get some more next time I go to town.

Watched SCD ITT, then MatserChef the Final.
Just watching MaterChef Professionals.

Your new cooker sounds great, might take a while to get used to how quick it cooks though.

Corrie star 'terrified' by stage return

Corrie star 'terrified' by stage return

Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver has admitted that she is terrified after deciding to return to the stage for the first time in 13 years.

Cleaver, best known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV1 show, is to appear in Marriages Made In Heaven at the Joshua Brooks pub in Princess Street, Manchester from tomorrow night.

The 15-minute production will be performed for a short run alongside five other plays at the venue. Cleaver's ex-husband James Quinn, who appeared in the BBC sitcom Early Doors, will star opposite her.

She told the Manchester Evening News: "I had a real hankering to go back to the theatre. Now I'm rehearsing and the date is getting closer, that hankering is turning into blind terror."

Asked about working with her ex, Cleaver commented: "It's a bit bizarre, isn't it? But we're very good friends and we've worked a lot with each other in the past, and it's always worked."

Marriages Made In Heaven will be directed by Coronation Street crew member Kay Patrick, who took time off work after a car collided with her during filming in May.

Cleaver said: "I wasn't on set that day and I'm very glad I wasn't because people were very shocked. It's lovely to be working with Kay again but she doesn't really want the fuss. She just wants to get on with it. She's doing very well, has a nice colourful stick and will be going back to work at Corrie after this."

The actress will continue to film her Weatherfield role throughout the after-dark stage stint.

Hicky
Evening guys.

Yes, it was a nice day here. A sunny crisp Autumn day.

Hope you get your glasses fixed eventually Hicky.
They don't seem all that keen to take your money.

The Tax people seem to be in a shambles Mollie.
But if they have cashed your cheque, then it should be possible to sort it out. Hope your new accountant is on the ball.

Does that halogen cooker not use much electricity?
I'll need to get used to cooking in an ordinary oven first, i think.
I'm good at making mince or spaghetti bolognese.

ETA: Oh! Goodnight Mollie.
emptybox
Hi Mollie.
The Salt is a preservative, the same as Vinegar is, it smells Fishy all right, but you soak it in water for up to 24 hrs, changing the water every few hours when you remember.
When you simmer it in boiling water it gets another lot of the salt out, you don't mind a little left in that's what makes it so nice.
It is a side of cod that I get, and that's about ÂĢ10 for the piece.
It makes a great brekkie though with some nice bacon.

It doesn't smell much when cooking as it isn't a smoked fish, or like a yellow smoked fish, or a kipper, they smell a lot while cooking.
I think you would love it, not sure if you can get it, you would have to ask.

It comes in rock salt or a type of, it's not household salt anyway.
It's the size of Black Pepper corns.

Hi Emptybox.

I think The oven is 1,300 watts, 12 litre capacity
Temperature range 0 to 250 deg.
60 min timer with bell.
40% faster than a normal oven.
Drains away fat.
Self cleaning function.

Happy cooking.

First Pics: Sunita returns to 'Coronation Street'

Monday, October 5 2009, 19:13 BST

By Kris Green, Soaps Editor

So who do we have here, then?!

Shobna Gulati returned to filming with Coronation Street today as Dev Alahan's (Jimmi Harkishin) estranged wife Sunita.

Sunita's return to the soap apparently ties in with Dev's discovery that she is actually engaged to a new man called Matt Davis, played by ex-Casualty actor Christopher Colquhoun.

By the looks of these pictures, Dev goes to see his former flame in the hope of wooing her back. It doesn't appear to work, though...

Images copyright Mark Campbell/Rex Features

Here's a tip, Dev. Although size isn't everything, try splashing out on a bigger bunch of flowers, rather than being a cheapskate and pinching them from your own 'selection'!

I have to say that I'm looking forward to Shobna's comeback. It'll finally give Jimmi - and Dev - something interesting to do. Let's hope it's not a rehash of past plots, though.

For those wondering, her first scenes air in December.

'Cheryl Cole and Louis can't win The X Factor' says Dannii

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has said that Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole don't have a chance of mentoring the winner of this year's contest. The Aussie singer used the social networking site Twitter to declare that the crown will be won by either her girls or Simon Cowell's over 25s.

06 October 2009 08:12 AM

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has said that Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole don't have a chance of mentoring the winner of this year's contest. The Aussie singer used the social networking site Twitter to declare that the crown will be won by either her girls or Simon Cowell's over 25s.

Dannii tweeted that she does not believe that Cheryl's boys and Louis' groups stand a "hope in hell" of winning the contest.

She wrote "Cowell vs Minogue!" and her boast has already received backing from bookmakers who have announced that the pair of judges are the most likely to mentor this year's champion.

An X Factor source told The Sun: "There's a lot of teasing going on among them but Dannii and Simon know they are in pole position to end up on top.

"Louis is gutted to get the groups again and he knows he hasn't got a hope in hell of doing well this year.

"He's even had to resort to putting through dreadful twins John and Edward Grimes in an attempt to get some attention back from the others.

"Cheryl's busy working on the launch of her solo single and doesn't feel as close to her acts this year."

Corrie fans want Molly to 'go for it' says Vicky Binns

Coronation Street star Vicky Binns has revealed that she has received support from fans over her character's affair. The actress, who plays Molly Dobbs, has been involved in a plotline which has seen her character embark on a torrid affair with married mechanic Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).

Vicky told ITV: "There are actually quite a few women who say 'go for it' - people are really taken by it.

"I think it's because it wasn't expected but you kind of believe it and it's definitely captured people's imagination - and led them to shout at me in the street all the time!"

Binns did confess that she had initially feared a public backlash over the storyline and she revealed that she had received some negative comments from viewers.

She said: "I can't go anywhere. Literally it's just so awful. Everyone keeps saying 'poor Tyrone'. And there's all that 'you leave Kevin alone'."

Michael Le Vell recently hit the headlines when he threatened to leave the soap if Corrie bosses did not bring the affair to an end.

The actor feared that his character's reputation would be severely damaged when it is revealed that Kevin's wife Sally (Sally Whittaker) has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Kelly Brook to bare all on stage

Kelly Brook
Kelly Brook will play Celia - Miss September

Kelly Brook and Julie Goodyear, who played Bet Lynch in Coronation Street, are to bare all in the West End play Calendar Girls.

Former newsreader Jan Leeming and Rob James Collier, who played Liam on Coronation Street, will also join the cast change.

The show is inspired by Women's Institute members who took their clothes off for a charity calender.

EastEnders' June Brown and Jerry Hall are currently starring in the hit show.

Helen Lederer and Arabella Weir will also join the new line-up which take over on 3 November. They will be on stage at London's Noel Coward Theatre for 10 weeks.

West End debut

Goodyear left Coronation Street in 1995 before returning for guest appearances. She will be making her West End debut playing Cora.

Julie Goodyear
Julie Goodyear will take the role of Cora - Miss July.

Brook will take the role of Celia. It will not be the first time she has undressed on stage, she played a lap dancer in a play called Eye Contact.

Last year she stripped down to a bikini when she made her West End debut in hit play Fat Pig.

The idea for the calendar came about when the husband of Angela Baker from the Rylstone Women's Institute in North Yorkshire was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

The original calendar sold 800,000 copies worldwide. The story inspired the 2003 film on which Tim Firth's stage play is based.

Good evening all
Hicky.. thanks again for the Corrie news.
What nice pics with Sunita in.
Hope you have had a good day.  Was it a work day today?
I bet you are looking forward to eating the fish you bought.
I see you found a great pic of my new oven.   This morning I made my cheese and tomatoes on toast in it. Toasted bread first in toaster, and it came out really nice, didn't take long to make either, even quicker than a convetional grill I reckon. Then we made dinner in it, we all love jacket potatoes in it, and kids had fishfingers in it too.

Our accountant has sorted tax office out, thank goodness.
Had difficult day with the kids today, because son was in a panic trying to work out his different software to the college one, so he could do his assignment, and daughter in tears of frustration because she couldn't work her maths out, she had missed out on the lesson last week at college because of that nasty cold, then oldest boy had breathlessness attack, because he still getting over this nasty cold. I am exhausted now.But both home from college and they got on ok this week, son has been given extra week for assignment.

Drizzly here today, hope it wasn't too wet today for Emptybox's work.
How is your son now he has gone back to Oz?  Hope he isn't too homesick.
M
Hi Mollie.
I was at work, don't get enough free time at home when i'm off.
Will probably have the Fish Friday morning, might go and get some more as well.
The oven looks great, love Gadgets anyway, I have most of them.
Will see if Amazon has one for me.
The grill I have in the big Fan oven is awful, hate Electric grills in big ovens, they don't have the right elements for a grill.

Sounds like you've had quite a day, these children are so much bother.

It has been pouring with rain all day, it didn't bother me though.
My Lad is loving it out there, he's been working up the Gold Coast on a project.

Hi Emptybox & GrannyG.

Hope your coping well with all this wet weather.
Don't think you would be getting much work done Emptybox if you had the same rain as me.
Hicky
coooeee Hicky, Mollie, empty  i have been getting regular updates from here so am keeping up with you all

your updates are great hicky!!!
mollie, i have been wanting to get one of the halogen ovens, but wanted to see who got one first and how it was LOL you was my little piggy who go one first!! LOL they sound really good! and am thinking i should get one now, and as pointed out by Hicky ... can be used as a security light!! woohooo

empty, its nice to read you are ok sweetie, and doing soo much lol, more than me lets face it, everyone does more than me!! hahahaha

hi granny g hope you are keeping fine
Tatty
Hi Tatty.
Lovely to hear from you, glad your like the updates, a bit of a mixed bag, but a bit for everyone.

I'm going to get one of the Halogen ovens, it's small size will mean it cooks quicker and cheaper as well as it having a fan which gives a better spread of the heat when cooking.

Not sure what you mean about the Security lamp, it's just that the Halogen lamp/bulb was mainly used in the security outside lights because of the amount of light they gave out, but with using for the light the heat was lost so they now use the halogen for heat as it's very intense.

How are you doing health wise?, hope you are ok.
Hicky
