EXCLUSIVE: AMELLE LEAVES SUGABABES

ABOVE: Amelle Berrabah is leaving the Suababes four years after replacing Mutya Buena
ABOVE: There has been tension between Amelle and Keisha Buchanan
ABOVE: Britain's Eurovision entrant Jade Ewen will take her place
19th September 2009

THE revolving door that opens up to the third member of the Sugababes has swung again with Amelle Berrabah walking out.

Eurovision babe Jade Ewen is stepping into her Jimmy Choos.

As revelations of tension between Amelle and bandmate Keisha Buchanan, 24, circulated, suspiciously Jade’s new single My Man, which was due out this week, failed to hit shelves.

Management for both the Babes and Jade, 21, last night refused to deny the merger.

Amelle stepped in for Mutya Buena, 24, four years ago and grabbed all the headlines.

She had many brushes with the law, her boyfriend was attacked on Christmas Day by a machete-wielding loonie, then she hit No 1 with Tinchy Stryder last month.

Last year after the Q Awards Amelle told me: “I get offers all the time to do things outside of the band but I can’t do them.

“I’ve turned down a lot of incredible opportunities that I really wanted to do.”

Looks like the chart position of Never Leave You has given the 25-year-old the confidence to quit.

In-fighting between the girls has been rife since they launched in 1998.

Original member Siobhan Donaghy, 25, accused Keisha and Mutya of speaking in a private language and leaving her out.

Heidi Range, 26, replaced her in 2001.

Mutya didn’t even tell the other two when she decided she had enough – leaving management to break the news.

On Thursday night Tinchy, 22, told Playlist’s Halina Watts that he didn’t want to be blamed for making Amelle a solo star.

He said: “It’s hard to see anyone not being nice to Amelle because she’s so sweet.

“I ain’t spoke to her but I hope she’s alright and they get back together.”

Meanwhile Jade’s label Geffen said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that Jade Ewen will be taking time off from all promotional activity for the forseeable future.”

Jade is nominated for Best Newcomer at the upcoming MOBO awards.

Meanwhile yesterday the Babes were confirmed for their first proper live show of the year on November 29 at T4’s Stars Of 2009 at London’s Earls Court.

This looks set to be Jade’s debut with the group.

ALEXANDRA SHOPS ON

IT seems that Simon Cowell pays well after all.

Last year’s X Factor queen Alexandra Burke, 21, was spotted in Manchester splashing wads of cash on the mother and father of a shopping binge.

The diva bagged so many goodies that an extra taxi was needed to carry the designer swag back to her hotel.

With Alexandra’s all-important first album out next month, we just hope that she kept the receipts.

AMY LASHES OUT

Amy
ABOVE: Amy hits the booze during her night out on the town / FocusPictures.co.uk
19th September 2009

JUST when we thought The Amy Show was drawing to a sobering halt, Wino is back off the wagon and more entertaining than ever.

Our favourite wonky songbird, 26, took her ex, Tyler James, on an epic post-birthday bender.

It ended in a raucous singsong and a scuffle with the paps.

After getting two gnashers removed at the dentist, Amy wolfed down two dinners with pals, scoffing pizza and seafood like she hadn’t eaten since Christmas.

The pack then hit Jazz After Dark in Soho, where Amy flexed her vocal cords to an astounded audience.

The walking heartbreak then treated herself to a smorgasbord of alcoholic treats.

Our spies said: “She was caning the booze. She downed a whole pint in one.”

Amy was strapped to one-time bed buddy Tyler, 26, the whole night. When a fan asked for a photo, Amy barked: “No, I’m with my boyfriend.”

The romantically confused one vexed another fan, who was wearing a bindi on her forehead.

“What the f*** is that on your face?” she yelled, despite sporting her trademark drawn-on freckles.

The night ended with a shambolic spat with photographers. Join us next time for more tales from Planet Wino.

Arlene Phillips joins 'The Sun'

Arlene Phillips joins 'The Sun'

Arlene Phillips has reportedly accepted an offer to write forThe Sun.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge agreed to give her opinions on the dance show's contestants in the newspaper week by week.

She said: "I'm thrilled to be joining The Sun.

"It's great to be back doing what I love - criticising dancers.

"This is what I do. I've been passing judgment on dancers for years, from way back in my early years as a choreographer. I know my mind and I'll say exactly what's on it. You won't get me mincing my words."

Phillips was replaced as a Strictly judge by Alesha Dixon.

Strictly Come Dancing is on tonight at 7.25pm on BBC One.

Hicky
I'm going to the Chinese 'Summer Palace' for tea tonight with my O/H and my Lad with his Partner & Daughter & little Lad.
It's the Saturday Banquet (eat as much as you like)., mind you I can't eat a lot anyway, but my Lad can.

I'll probably have to record X-Factor and SCD then.
Hicky
Hicky
glad to hear you enjoyed your meal out. I bet it was quiet in your house for a Saturday with no littlies calling in.
I wonder how they got on in Spain with the swimming. Your boys must be really high standard swimmers.

Emptybox
that is good, that you found us here. How annoying that you have a leaky downstairs toilet. And hope you sort out your aerial ok. Still too warm for the heating here yet. But at least we all do seem to be having a nice dry spell right now.

Me and OH started our Saturday with a brekkie out in Asda, then I got my moms shopping, and bought her over here for a few hours. Didn't do much else today, but did enjoy watching X Factor. I am not bothering with Strictly, I am not so keen on that.
This place still feels large and strange to me at the moment. I guess it will take a while to get used to it.
M
Hi Mollie.
It will be pretty quiet tomorrow as well, but going to my Lads for dinner tomorrow.
The last I heard from my Lad in Spain was a text to my O/H saying he did a PB on his 50M Fly Longcourse of 24.7 which he was pleased with.

Watched most of SCD, the public voted and spoilt it as usual, a lot of moaning on the threads about who went.
Just watching X-F now.

Mutya Buena: I'd love to be a Sugababe again

By Max Thurlow, London Lite Last updated at 13:25pm on 18.09.09

Mutya Buena has revealed she would love to rejoin the Sugababes.

The Celebrity Big Brother star, who left the group four years ago, would consider taking Amelle Berrabah's place if she does decide to quit.

Open to invitations: Mutya Buena

Speaking at the Ndoro charity dinner in The Dorchester hotel last night, Mutya told us: “I'd love to do some shows with the Sugababes. As the years have gone by I've settled down a lot.

“Now my little girl's at school I've a lot more time on my hands. If they asked me, I'd definitely do some stuff with them, but it would have to come from them as I'm not sure how it would work with four people on the stage.”

Hicky
Hi mollie, Hicky.

Glad you enjoyed your Chinese meal Hicky, and your lad is doing well with the swimming. ( Nae idea what a "Fly longcourse" might be? )

You do like your Asda brekkie Mollie.

The plumber came this morning, and I'll need a new cistern, which he'll fit some time next week.
There is a crack in the plastic of the old one.
Luckily the landlady will be paying.

I decided to tackle the re-cabling job. It all went smoothly, but it was a little breezy on the roof.
The old connection to the aerial was fine, but when I looked at the old cable after I had taken it down, I found that the problem was in a joint half way down. When I took the insulating tape off I found the joint was wet and rusty.
I can't remember why we put a joint in it 17 years ago? But it's now got a nice new  cable, and giving excellent reception.

I do find I'm watching more telly nowadays.
I didn't watch Strictly or X Factor, but I watched Merlin and I'm now watching the 'Bond' film.

Hi Emptybox.
Well, the 'Fly' is one of the 4 swimming strokes in competative swimming.
Back-stroke, Fly, Breast-stroke & Freestyle.
The 'Fly' stroke is like Free style but with both hands at the same time, it's the hardest stroke to do, not so many do it, or even can.
You need to be very strong.
The 'Long-course' means that the pool is a 50m pool as oppsed to a 25m pool, so a 50m race doesn't have a turn in the middle.

A joint mid way down an aerial cable is fatal, would never advise it to anyone.
You would need to use amalgamating tape to seal it, not ordinay insulating tape, after amalgamating tape is put on you can't unwind it again.

I love SCD and X-Factor, just habit I suppose.
It's been a very calm day here, can see there's a load of leaves waiting to drop, just waiting for the next wind.
Hicky
Oh 'Butterfly stroke'? Yes I've heard of that.

I think we must have put the joint in because we didn't have a long enough length of cable at the time?

The original joint was pulled apart by honeysuckle about 3 years ago, and my Dad replaced it, but only used indoor type connections and insulating tape rather than the proper stuff. I think we'd already decided then that the cable would need replacing soon.
But he didn't feel fit enough to do it himself, any he never trusted me with those sort of jobs. Probably very wise, but I've no choice now.

How do you quote by the way?

Good morning all
It is a nice autumn day here again, hope it is where you are too. Just been a little ride to take the dog a walk, and already the coast road is building up with traffic.

Emptybox... didn't realise you were going on the roof, must of been scary, especially as it was breezy.  Glad you managed to sort the cable out though, a good tv reception makes all the difference to our enjoyment of viewing.

Hicky ...
glad to hear the swimming in Spain is going well. That butterfly stroke does look really difficult to master, I have certainly never tried it.   That is a long pool, being 50 metres.

Hope you have a good Sunday.

Hi Emptybox.
I should have said Butterfly instead of Fly, never thought as we only call it the latter.

Yep, new cables make all the difference to the TV signal.

To Quote, you need to copy the post that you want, put the cursor between the Avatar and the poster's name, then highlight the whole post, leave it highlighted and go to the 'Post Reply' button at the bottom and press it, the post will appear in a box, go down to the bottom of the box and type in the section under that box.

Not sure if you can multi-quote though yet.

My Broadband has been playing up lately, and it seem to be running very slow.

Good Morning Mollie.
Just copied your post and it gave me the one from Emptybox that I just answered as well.
So maybe you can quote as multi somehow.

It's alovely calm day here.

Yep, the 50m pool is the standard Olympic size, there aren't many of them in the UK, so it's quite hard to get in the practice that you need.

Have a nice day and keep out of the traffic.

I'm in the Dog house again.
Forgot it was my O/H's Birthday today, my lad reminded me yesterday, but I still forgot, untill she showed me all the cards on the windowledge.
Anyway, I made her Brekkie, but give her a few bob later.
Hicky
Oh No Hicky.....
I can imagine she felt quite upset, and you feel dead guilty now. You will really have to do some serious creeping now for the rest of the year to make up for that.   I have never let my OH forget how he forgot our 1st wedding anniversary!!
anyway I hope she has had a nice day, despite your bad memory. Do you intend to go out for dinner to celebrate?

I don't think I have seen a 50 metre swimming pool in this country at all.
Glad you have the lovely weather too. Hope Emptybox does too.

Hi everyone.
We had a 50 metre swimming pool in Wigan up until they started demolishing it a couple of months ago.
The council got a right telling off for deciding to get rid of it in favour of a 25 metre one.
I remember having to swim a length of it in my clothes for a pass in my gcse swimming course. I'm not a great swimmer but I managed to swim 3/4 of it. I was swimming for my life and as soon as I got to the 6ft mark that was me done.. I'd fell off my bike the day before and hurt my leg badly. Had a dead leg for hours from that, no wonder I found it hard to swim.
Anyway I hope you've all had a good weekend. I've spent the weekend at my girlfriends, hope she doesn't ask for rent.
Kev
Hi Kev.
Edinburgh's got an Olympic sized pool, although it's called the 'Commonwealth Pool' because it was built for the Commonwealth Games back in the seventies.

Hicky.
I don't know much about OHs, but I shouldn't imagine they like having their birthdays forgotten?

It's been a nice day here too Mollie.
I was out in the garden for a while, but I've spent most of the day doing housework.
Just about to do some ironing before my supper.

Hi Mollie.
I'll make it up to her, I'll get her a pressie next week, or I'll give her a few bob.

Hi Kev.
My Lads used to go to the Wigan 50m pool to get some training in, there's not many around.
And it'd hard to swim 50 m with your clothes on.

Hi Emptybox.
A bad memory and a O/H don't go together too good.
I usually forget anyway, and the memory isn't getting any better.

Hi GrannyG.
Glad you found us over here.
A bit thin on the updates, but i'll get what I can.
Take it easy on the Jelly Babies in Choccy.
Hicky
KingKev... glad to hear you are enjoying your gf's company this weekend.

Hicky...yes I am sure she knows you will make it up to her one way or the other. If you don't know what to get....how about a nice surprise item of clothing? I know I love new clothes, scarf or bag, but best make sure you get the right size, or at least keep the receipt.   Or as you say a few extra bob, or nice bunch of flowers. I always love to have flowers in the house.

Emptybox Glad you got the good weather too. Shame you had to spend some of it on housework and ironing. Perhaps you should of got out there in your bathing trunks, sunnies and a good book?

Really enjoyed X Factor again, and am now watching new series of Doc Martin, I love that show. And it is even more interesting since we went where it was filmed and I stood outside the docs surgery.  Does that mean I am nearly famous?

Nice to see you here.
Glad to hear your pc is all fixed, and that you are still enjoying Hicky's recipe for choccy jelly babies.

Hope you have had a good weekend.

Hi Mollie.
I prefer to give money, i'm not too good at buying pressies, never have been, it's best if she buys what she wants in the right size.

Watch X-F and the Doc, will probably have an early night.
Still have some recordings to catch up on though.
She had Flowers bought for her, beautiful ones, but they don't last as long as a good pressie.

that is true, flowers do not last long unfortunatly.
Last Christmas I treated myself to one of those Christmas plants with the bright red leaves, and they only usually last over Christmas time, but much to my surprise mine is still going well now. So hopefully it will make it to this Christmas.  I have given it lots of attention though, watering a few times a day, moving it , in and out of the sun and draughts etc. It was worth it though.

Early night for me too, think I will listen to talk sport in bed, George Galloway usually on Sundays.

Goodnight all.

Daniel Pearce of One True Voice auditions for The X Factor

In 2002, Daniel Pearce won a place in a talent show band at the same time as X Factor judge Cheryl Cole. Now, she's on the panel and he's auditioning.

20 September 2009 20:22 PM

Daniel Pearce of One True Voice auditions for The X Factor

When Daniel Pearce auditioned for Popstars:The Rivals back in 2002, he was unknown - just like his fellow auditionee, Cheryl Cole. They both won the contest and and, like The X Factor judge, secured a place in one of the winning bands. His band, One True Voice got to number two at Christmas behind the winners, Cheryl's very own Girls Aloud.

Daniel later quit One True Voice, who never enjoyed the same soaring success of their 'Rivals'. Speaking to The X Factor's Dermot O'Leary about his decision to walk away from a band that had a couple of top ten hits at the age of 24, Daniel explained: "It was a really difficult decision but it didn’t feel right in there.

"Since I quit One True Voice I’ve just been trying to make ends meet, being a gigging musician and just working every week to put food in the fridge. I’d say the most important thing in my world is my family, I don’t just want to succeed for myself, I want to succeed because I want my family to be proud of me. I really want to be a provider so they have a comfortable, happy, brilliant life."

Now 31, Daniel decided to have another shot at stardom by auditioning for The X Factor. As Daniel took to the stage, Cheryl immediately recognised her former talent show rival.

"Daniel, hello, wow, this is bizarre," Cheryl declared on seeing Daniel. Cheryl's fellow X Factor judge Louis Walsh was a judge onPopstars:The Rivals. He questioned Daniel’s bravery: "It must be tough to come back to another talent show."

Daniel admitted: "It’s a challenge, but I think I’m up for the challenge." He performed Seal's A Kiss From A Rose which not only impressed the audience - Cheryl was up on her feet for a standing ovation.

The judges unanimously voted Daniel through to Boot Camp. He could easily be a finalist. Watch the show next weekend to find out.

X Factor: Cheryl Cole gets up on stage to help a tearful contestant sing a Girls Aloud song

By LIZZIE SMITH
Last updated at 9:47 PM on 20th September 2009

As a former talent show winner herself, Cheryl Cole knows what it feels like to be nervous.

So when a young singer broke down in tears on the X Factor she was quick to reassure her.

But this time Cheryl even joined the tearful contestant on stage - to help her belt out a Girls Aloud song.

Cheryl Cole and Amie Buck

Back on stage: Cheryl Cole climbed out of her chair to help support Amie Buck

Amie Buck, 22-year-old, shares Cheryl's home town and had told the judges: 'I’m feeling nervous but I’m very, very excited, I’m feeling a buzz.'

But she failed to impress, receiving a 'heard enough' from Cowell as she attempted to sing Alicia Keys Fallin'.

But Cheryl disagreed, telling her: 'I think that song was too big for you Amie, I really do, I think you’ve got a nice pop voice.'

Holding back the tears: Amie Buck was overcome

Holding back the tears: Amie Buck was overcome

Louis agreed and Cowell added: 'Amie I think you’ve got a good voice but it’s not a great voice, you’re very well prepared, you look fantastic  but I don’t think your voice is good enough darling.'

As she began to cry on stage, Simon said: 'So you’ve got to work out in your mind the right kind of song for you.'

On hearing this, Amie explained she nearly picked a Girls Aloud track, and was offered a rare second chance to begin again.

X Factor

She did it: Aime gets a hug from Cheryl

Still tearful she began with a stunning performance, but soon forgot the words.

Determined to help, Cheryl joined her onstage - and soon Amie had four yeses.

Also reminding Cheryl of her time on Popstars: the Rivals was Daniel Pearce.

When they auditioned for the show in 2002, both made it onto the winning bands - she on Girls Aloud, he on One True Voice.

But while Cheryl is now a household name, Daniel is a jobbing singer, and last night saw him auditioning in front of Cheryl for a place in the X factor final.

As he took to the stage Cheryl remarked: 'Daniel, hello, wow, this is bizarre'.

Louis, who was a judge on Popstars: The Rivals, agreed: 'It must be tough to come back to another talent show'.

But with a breathtaking performance of Seal's Kiss From A Rose 31-year-old Daniel silenced their fears.

DanielDaniel

Seven years on: Daniel on Popstars in 2002 (L) and the X Factor (R)

Simon Cowell was quick with his praise.

'Who cares about his hair,' he said, referring to Daniel's mohican. 'That's how you do it. It probably is quiet awkward for you to come back under these circumstances.

'But who cares when you can sing like that.'

Also back auditioning for a second time, was Rachel Adedji - who got to the final six of the show last year.

She was an easy choice for the judges to send through to the second round.

Not so successful was Cowell's biggest fan, 80-year-old Eileen.

She had auditioned the previous day, but was sent off to find a backing track.

'I left it 50 years too late,' she told the crowd. She then belted out The Wonder of You by Elvis Presley.

Cowell told her: 'I really like you, but on the singing I've got to say no.'

Next up was autistic contestant Scott James, for who just appearing on stage was a challenge.

The 21-year-old's version of  You Raise Me Up by Westlife brought the crowd up onto their feet in a standing ovation.

Giving it his all: Autistic Scott James thrilled the judges

He finished his song, before the judges invited his vocal coach Linzi onstage.

'I wanted you to hear this,' said Cowell. 'He's got four yeses, he's through to the next round.'

Next up was someone equally impressive - for a different reason.

Paula managed to get Cowell to put his hand in his pocket - after telling him she had spent £600 on singing lessons.

He was so horrified at her voice that he told her: 'I'll give you your money back.'

Full of swagger: Curtis, 16, impressed

Full of swagger: Curtis, 16, impressed

Ending the show was 16-year-old Curtis.

After he explained he had been in and out of care for years, and had a tag on his ankle after breaking the law, he swaggered on stage.

But after getting a telling off from Cowell, his performance thrilled the judges.

'I think you are really current,' Cowell told him.

And as he walked away the judges were arguing about who would get to work with Curtis.

BB Lisa 'models for Vivienne Westwood'

Former Big Brother 10 housemate Lisa has modelled for Dame Vivienne Westwood.

The Mirror reports that the 41-year-old was invited to join the catwalk because of her friendship with fellow housemate David, who is a devotee of the fashion designer.

Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof were among the other models in the show.

Meanwhile, Boy George, Alexa Chung and Girls Aloud stars Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts were in the audience.

Westwood joined her models on the catwalk for the show's finale.

THE PAUL O'GRADY SHOW

ABOVE: Paul O'Grady
21st September 2009

By Channel 4, 5pm

Paul
PAUL has not been a happy bunny of late, kicking up a stink about Channel 4 wanting to slash his budget.

But whatever the rights and wrongs of that dispute (do YOU know how much money it really takes to make a daytime chat show? Me neither – I’m keeping out of it) it’s safe to assume he’ll be sticking to the business in hand this afternoon as he launches his latest series.

In other words, lots of down-to-earth chat with celebrity guests, plus items which put real-life non-celebs into the spotlight.

Joining him today are singer Mika (or “Mike”, as it originally said, far more amusingly, in the press release) and Dame Edna Everage.

The latter, of course, is actually a bloke in drag – a career path I’m sure Paul would thoroughly disapprove of.

Nearly 2m record 'Strictly' or 'X Factor'

Nearly 2m record 'Strictly' or 'X Factor'

Sky has revealed that nearly two million homes used Sky+ this weekend to record either Strictly Come Dancing or The X Factor during the scheduling clash.

On Saturday, the BBC opted to broadcast Strictly from 7.25pm to 9.05pm on BBC One, thus clashing with The X Factor which aired on ITV1 between 8pm and 9.15pm.

Therefore, 1.9m Sky+ and Sky+ HD subscribers used the recording function of their set top box to ensure that they did not miss either of the shows.

After The X Factor beat Strictly in the ratings war, figures released by Sky also indicate that it was the preferred choice for Sky+ users, with 1.2m saving the ITV1 show to watch later, compared to just 686,000 doing so for Strictly.

A Sky spokesperson said: "Scheduling clashes like this are what Sky+ was made for. It's great we've been able to save two million people from a difficult decision and enabled them to watch every second of their favourite shows."

The BBC's scheduling decision for Strictly Come Dancing has been widely criticised in the media, and even come under scrutiny from politicians.

During a speech at the Royal Television Society Cambridge Convention, shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt expressed his dismay at the corporation's approach.

"It was an extraordinary decision to disappoint thousands of licence fee payers," he said. "There will be thousands of viewers who are very angry at that decision."

BB10 Noirin tipped for Ann Summers ads

Big Brother star Noirin Kelly is reportedly being lined up as the new face of Ann Summers.

According to the Daily Star, Kelly's recent photoshoots in lads' magazines impressed bosses at the firm, which is currently looking for a new celebrity to front its lingerie campaigns.

An Ann Summers source told the newspaper: "Noirin could be just what we are looking for. She is absolutely gorgeous, with a great 'girl next door' look that men and women will love."

The insider added: "Men will be drooling over her photos while women will want to look as good as her. Watch this space."

Other stars said to be in the frame for the role include Big Brother 7's Imogen Thomas and former Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett.

Good Morning Mollie. I'm off today, working tomorrow. The times of the posts are OK on my Puter. You have to set the time zones in your Profile area. The sun has come out now as well.

Hope you enjoyed your day off, glad to hear the sun was shining too. It did for a short time here, so at least it was enough to dry my washing.

thanks for the info about the time thing, I will have to see if I can work it out.

Not much of interest on tv again tonight, except for my fave soap, Corrie.

Hope it has stayed dry for Empbybox to do his gardens.

Is there any improvement with your ankles yet Hicky?
thanks for the news items again.
Cheryl looked nice in that frock.

Hi Mollie.
It wasn't a bad day really.
I went to see the Doc, confirmed  the ECG was OK, will go for a scan when it can be arranged.
My ankles don't seem to be swelling as much but it might be because I'm not doing all the walking I was when away.

I'm working tomorrow, I might be working Thursday instead of Friday again.

Evening all. Wet here, so no gardening. The wind is getting up tonight, and I think gales are forecast tomorrow. Glad to hear your ankles are a bit better Hicky.
Hi Emptybox.
I heard on the news before that a high was coming over so the weather should be good, I'm sure they said that.

I'm at work, got a few jobs to do though.

Will keep popping in anyway.
