Strictly Come Dancing line-up confirmed - see all this year's contestants
By Jody Thompson, Mirror.co.uk 25/08/2009

Tennis star Martina Hingis, boxer Joe Calzaghe, former jockey Richard Dunwoody, long jumpe athlete Jade Johnson and cricketer Phil Tufnell are the sports stars lining up for this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

They are joined by a host of stars from the world of entertainment, including former EastEnders Natalie Cassidy and Ricky Groves, The Bill's Ali Bastian, Hollyoaks Ricky Whittle, Corrie's Craig Kelly, as well as Zoe Lucker and Laila Rouass, glamourpuss former stars of Footballers' Wives.

Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding and BBC Breakfast's Chris Hollins will also be donning the sequins this year.

And as we previously revealed here on Mirror.co.uk, former Oxo mum Lynda Bellingham and Jo Wood, estranged wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, will also be taking their turn on the floor representing the more mature contestant.

Show bosses are trying to win over the 2,000 viewers who complained that the BBC was guilty of ageism when it axed judge Arlene Phillips in favour of former winner Alesha Dixon.

nice to see you back again with all those lovely news items for us. Smiler
I am not happy with Marcus and Siavash up for evictiion. Wish we could get rid of that nasty Charlie. Mad
How are your ankles today? Are you going to the docs about it before your London trip?

And wavey to our early morning workers Suzy and Kingkev.

Pinkbabe. Hug
Sorry to hear how poorly you have been. That is awful how the GP refused to see you. As Hicky says, I think you should take yourself to "A and E" if it happens again , they cant refuse to see you, even if you have to wait. And they will not be pleased with your GP, because he is adding to their workload by refusing you an appointment. I hope you manage to get to see the doc today, and you can get help for that pain. Hug

Nice day here now the rain has gone, so I have the washing drying nicely. Smiler

It seems strange if, I say if, don't think it has been confirmed yet that Marcus and Siavash are up.
I'm not that bothered but think Marcus has been very nasty early on to the ladies and I don't think they liked that.

I'll have to leave my ankles for this week and see next week.
They are all swollen, not sure if it's the joint or if it's just water, can't tell, but they go down again over night.

Soph's sick of dippy jibes

GLAMOUR model Sophie Reade says she's sick of being branded a dippy blonde.
The 20-year-old told Siavash Sabbaghpour last night that she did not think she was taken seriously.

The Cheshire model moaned she had been mocked for her lack of intelligence in a magazine article.

Sophie, who had trouble identifying Japan and Germany on a world map in a challenge yesterday, said she was scared of being booted out of the house and being booed.

"I'm the f****** dumb one on this show," Sophie complained. "The 'dippy blonde', that's what they called me in the magazine."

She added: "People don't take me seriously, and it's really annoying!"

Events organiser Siavash told Sophie she just needed to "chill out".

I'm a bit like you with the Dancing, it will depend what girls are in it, I don't watch fellers, will just have to see.
Prefer the Ice Dancing myself, daring dangerous and damn good to watch.

You are of course welcome to any news, but i'm away again tomorrow till Friday, but back on here probably Saturday.

Lisa: 'I believe in aliens'
Day 83, 13:58 BST
By Jenni Marsh

Lisa has revealed that she believes in aliens and is a big fan of all things paranormal.

She made the revelation after the housemates discovered that the Diary Room had been replaced with a futuristic silver door ahead of their time travel task.

Lisa then nominated herself to take on the part of an alien in the task, which will see housemates transported to the year 2209.

David will also be an alien, while Sophie opted to be a robot with Rodrigo. Charlie decided to be an astronaut, saying that he was not sure what an android is.

"Androids are like human robots," explained Marcus.

Lisa does look a bit like an Alien, wonder if she is?

Not a great line up for a BB final... Charlie, Lisa, David... is it?

What a nuisance about your ankles. As they are going down in the night, perhaops to try and keep your feet evevated in the day, might help them? My mom gets that too if she stands a lot. Make sure you are drinking lots of water, I have heard that it is the opposite of what you would think, if you have water retention, that drinking water, will help flush the excess water away, but coffee, tea, coke , alcohol make it worse.
Hope it doesnt bother you too much in London. xx

I don't quite see how drinking more water could help the problem if it's water retention.
Whatever you drink goes into your blood and is carried from there.

I take a water tablet anyway, maybe it's not good enough.

I'll have to see next week, they do go down overnight and are fine first thing.

It's a bit difficult to keep my feet elevated during the day, not too good at walking on my hands you see.

I'll have to ask the Doc what is best.
I can't walk very far either, will have to get Taxi's I suppose.

Holden: 'Piers isn't qualified for Talent'
Tuesday, August 25 2009, 10:22 BST
By Mayer Nissim, Entertainment Reporter

Amanda Holden has suggested that Piers Morgan is not suitably qualified to be a judge on ITV1 reality contest Britain's Got Talent.

The actress told thelondonpaper that as someone who has auditioned for roles in the past, she is uniquely placed on the panel to understand what the entrants are going through.

Holden said: "I've always said, out of the judges, I'm the only one who has auditioned for a panel or a crowd of people. When I see the contestants, I look at these people and I remember that feeling, having that dream.

"It's not like I'm sat there smugly saying, 'I know better'. It's just that I know because I've been there. Obviously Simon [Cowell] is very qualified but I'm not quite sure what Piers is doing there."

Regarding the possibility of being replaced by a younger woman on the show, she added: "I honestly would be completely gutted if the panel changed.

"I've had such a good run and I've enjoyed many aspects of it. I'd have to very nicely wish the next person the best of luck."

Morgan: 'Sugar not as clever as Trump'
Friday, August 21 2009, 11:42 BST
By Mayer Nissim, Entertainment Reporter

Piers Morgan has said that Alan Sugar is not as clever as he thinks he is.

Speaking on a video recorded for his official website, the talkshow host also noted that the recently-named Baron Sugar is not as rich as US Apprentice boss Donald Trump.

Morgan said: "Sir Alan believes he is the best businessman on God's earth. But if he is, how come he fired me on his own Apprentice, despite me raising most of the money, but Donald Trump recognised my genius and made me his Apprentice?

"Work that one out, Sir Alan. Not as clever as you think, are you? America's slightly bigger than Britain - slightly bigger business. Donald Trump, billionaire; you, multi-millionaire. I'm doing the maths here."

Morgan also said that he prefers Lily Allen to Amy Winehouse and Victoria Beckham to Cheryl Cole.

Jamie Oliver to open Italian restaurant chain in Asia

Jamie Oliver has unveiled plans to open 30 Italian family-style restaurants in Asia, with the first one set to open its doors in Hong Kong early next year.

by Our Foreign Staff
Published: 12:36PM BST 25 Aug 2009

Jamie Oliver: The chain, which has five eateries in the UK hopes to appeal to a wide variety of clients.

The celebrity chef is introducing Jamie's Italian to a region which takes pride in its rich diversity of international cuisine and where the economy is picking up faster than anywhere else in the world.

"Why Asia? Of all the markets, it has by far the fastest-growing economy," said Edward Pinshow, president of Tranic Franchising, a partner of Jamie's Italian International in Asia.

"The Chinese have become extremely fond of Italian food. In Japan, Jamie's become a household name," he said.

Mr Pinshow said the first stage of the expansion was to open six restaurants in Hong Kong and Singapore. He hopes to raise $200 million to fund the project.

They plan to roll out another 24 eateries in other parts of the region over the next five years, with China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea in the plans.

The chain, which has five eateries in the UK hopes to appeal to a wide variety of clients. "At Jamie's restaurants, you will often find a blue-collar worker, a student, and the chairman of a blue-chip company side by side having a meal," said Mr Pinshow.

Hong Kong will also be established as the development hub, providing regional support for the project.

Housemates break into camera runs
Day 83, 18:17 BST
By Polly Taylor

The contestants escaped the house and broke into the camera runs earlier today after Big Brother labelled them "boring".

As the group lounged on the sofas, it was announced that they would receive a treat if they did something entertaining.

The housemates then broke out of an exit in the garden and ran through the camera runs screaming.

They returned to the house following being reprimanded by Big Brother and Charlie admitted: "I didn't want to go back!"

"We've seen humans," said Siavash, referring to the camera operators.

While the group talked about their breakout, Marcus asked: "Where's our ****ing reward?"

"I think we'll get a punishment actually, not a reward," Charlie replied.

Yes best to ask your own doc Hicky.

I think they said that drinking more plain water helped the kidneys work better to get rid of the excess water stuck in the wrong places. Confused

Oh heck, you will be in trouble though if your doc does recommend, as you suggest, and tells you to go round walking on your hands. Laugh

I think taxis are the best way of getting round London anyway, and there are always plenty of them to chose from.
Is you lad enjoying his visit home?
Has he been seeing friends?
Didn't you say that it was him who arranged this London trip for you?

We were upfront about that straight away lol.
I can honestly say I was completely myself and open with my feelings on our date, and I think that put her at ease with me straight away. Who'd have ever thought eh? Being yourself is the way to a girl's heart lol.
That's where I was going wrong. Laugh

Mike deserves some credit too. He's given me a few tips over the last few months that could earn him a fortune if he published a book.

Hi Mollie.wavey
You could be right about the water Mollie, it sounds reasonable, but think i'm storing far too much.

Will have to leave it until next week now.

My Lad has seen a lot of his friends, but many are either courting, married etc, things change so quick.
My O/H is going to get him put on her insurance for a month so he can use her car when she isn't using it.

He has arranged the trip to London, everything is pre-booked, but we leave very early in the morning, so I have to pack in a sec.
I'm taking my Camera anyway.

Have the Longleat pics to show you but haven't put them up yet, will have to reduce the size etc first.
I usually make them 20% of their real size to post them.
Hicky
