NASTY Nick Batemen has dropped out of a chance to return to the Big Brother house. The first series villain was supposed to take part in an assault course challenge against a current housemate today.
But a spokesman for the series explained he would not be re-entering the house as planned, but refused to reveal why he had pulled out.
He will be replaced by first series winner Craig Phillips, who will enter the house later this afternoon.
According to the 37-year-old's agent, Alan Hamilton, he will be taking a copy of his autobiography - Building Beyond Big Brother - with him to inspire current housemates.
In return for Craig's appearance Big Brother's producers have promised to offer a fee to cancer related charities in memory of Jade Goody, who died from cervical cancer in March.
Nick was caught out lying about the death of a fictional wife, working as an escort and having had military training in the 2000 series.
Mr Hamilton said: "We gather Nick was also approached but didn't want to show off his superior military skills again which made him lose the last challenge."
More former Big Brother stars are expected to be entering the house each day this week as part of the show's 10th birthday celebrations.
Craig is expected to be followed into the house by Dean O'Loughlin who will attempt an egg-and-spoon race and series seven moaner Nikki Grahame is also confirmed for a return.
Bosses will be hoping the former favourites will provide a much needed boost for Big Brother's ratings which have been ailing this year.
