Cervical Smear result back! All clear Thank goodness. Took ages. My last one only took about 10 days to come back. Guess after Jade, they are choc-a-block!

Brilliant it is an awful wait! I live in Wales and have to say we are luckier than those in England. I've always turned up for my smear, what a small price to poay for peace of mind!
Thats great news
Great news, I have not had one yet as I am only 24.

Go when you can - there's little embarrassment and they are discreet and it doesn't hurt, just cold and a few seconds it's over! Don't even hesitate Mimi.
Good news

Are you entitled to that injection Mimi? My girls have just brought the letter home from School to have theirs. They are 15 and 16, but I heard somewhere that it is a wide age range that can have it. They have to have 3 injections in all, which they are not looking forward to, but of course it is by far the better bet to have it done, coz it cuts your risk by 70%quote:Originally posted by Gorgeous Mimi:

Probably. Mine, however, was quicker than usual, because they have changed to a more efficient system.quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:

It's such a relief isn't it? Good news LMS - I had my all clear a couple of weeks ago- I'd had a 7 week wait too!
Crikey. I would have worried TBH, but then it does make sense that ut has been so long, because of Jade dying; that put the frighteners on a lot of people.quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:It can take up to 12 weeks would you believe!!!!!quote:Originally posted by Cheeky-Pixie:Well done LMS! Ladies you should check with your own Doc to see if the results are there. My niece was told at the hospital clinic 6-8 weeks for written results (6 weeks ago) nothing yet. However she was the doc last week for her pill etc, they had the results in the system,Borderline changes, another visti to the Colposcopy clinic in 6 months, her third 6 month check up.She's only 22.Now In England/Wales I gather you don't get screened until 25? In Scotland you get invited for your first smear at 20.
Good news, I had a Mammogram a few weeks ago, the nurse said results would take four weeks, when letter came one week later, I left it on table for half an hour before I dare open It,anyhow when I open it that was good news also.

Don't they discuss the results of your mammogram with you on the day? Mine do
Good news That's great Mary.quote:Originally posted by Mary Seacole:

No, there is a mobile caravan comes to our town every three years, the nurses do the test, then it is sent of to the hospital, the Hospital then send you the results, you are just told you have to wait four weeks which is quite worrying for anyone that thinks they might have a problem.

But if anyone thought they had a problem, surely they would go to see their GP for a hospital referral rather than wait for a three yearly visit from the mobile mammogram unit?quote:Originally posted by Mary Seacole:quote:Originally posted by Karma_:quote:Originally posted by Mary Seacole:

I really don't understand why it takes someone like Jade Goody dying from cervical cancer to make some women have regular screening. Why on earth would anyone not go for their regular three year check?
Ours is the same, a caravan thing comes for the scheduled screening for the ladies over 50 (no hospital in our town). If in the meantime anyone has a problem or they are too young to be invited for the scheduled 3 year check they can go and see their GP and get referred to the nearest hospital.
Mebbes it's all different out in the sticks

but you will always get the woman who's mastits or whatever seems bad and will say,I will wait for my mammogram results, personally I would be at my doctors for the slightest worry. I have a friend that went a few years ago for her routine mammogram thinking she had no problem(no lumps etc)but unfortunately she was positive, had the necessary treatment and is doing fine.
Even if you are referred by your doctor it can take up to 6 months (or it did a couple of years ago) to get an appointment.

At my hospital they check the mammograms are clear enough before you go but you have a separate appointment a couple of weeks later to see the Consultant for the results.
