But you can take the washing to the launderette (or a friend's) ... there is nowhere to take the washing up

Leave it stacked (rinsed) to the left of the sink....OH will eventually have to wash it up, if only for his morning porridge bowl and spoon before he goes to work!

tbf, it wasn't me who wanted the dishwasher in the first place. Hubby has always done the washing up - it was him who insisted on it

You obviously didn't rinse and stack it right Rexi....

Pedantic Polly here.  All white crockery with the occasional black plate/serving bowl and dish to tone in with the decor   Cappuccino cups and saucers for the cappuccinos, espresso cups for the espressos and tall latte glasses for the.....yeah, you got it.

Tea from bone china (small) mugs although I do make allowances for the "I'd rather be having a fag" and "Queen of F**king Everything" mugs 'cos the kids bought them for me.

Dishwasher's have definitely got smaller - without WARNING, and I can't remember the last time that I had to wash a full stack of crockery by hand.  I think the Washing Up Pixie does the outsized stuff during the night

I hoped knew someone sane would

I know what Slinki means too about stuff going AWOL.  With me it's dessert spoons.

With crockery you smash or chip them and throw them in the bin but how can spoons go on the missing and just disappear?
