I am off to Marbella in 11 days to attend one of my son's wedding and I have just been diagnosed with having kidney stone/s and am in immense pain.

Has anyone experienced this before?  I would be SO grateful if you could give me some advice on how to get it to pass as soon as possible as the pain is so all consuming, it is stopping me from getting the final bits and pieces ready for the wedding.  I still have to finish decorating the cake and packing it up for transportation to Marbella.

Please help if you can.   xx

I had kidney stones almost 19 years ago to the day.
It is the most excruciating pain I have ever ever experienced, which not even morphine would get rid of.
However, the hospital told me that they wouldn't take them out, but just waited for them to pass through me.
I don't know when it happened because I never saw any, but a couple of days later the pain subsided and I never had a problem since.
The procedure for treating them may well be different 19 years on, but I couldn't concentrate on anything with that pain, certainly not wedding plans!!
Hope you get it all sorted.

I have been in pain since Monday when I went to the Doctor.  He said to leave it for a few days to see if they would pass of their own accord.  Well they haven't, so I am going to go back to him tomorrow and see if he can give me anything to speed things up.

I will go to the wedding - with or without the stones - but naturally I would prefer to be pain free and able to enjoy my time there.

Even poor little Dante is all confused about what is happening with me and refuses to leave my side.  xx

Could you be dehydrated Annoca......dehydration is the worst enemy of kidney stones.

Lemon juice added to the water you should be drinking could help if they are small( grain of rice size)

It couldn't have come at a worse time for you Annoca    Don't put off getting treatment for the sake of the wedding...........It would be hugely disappointing for all concerned if you didn't go, but health comes first

Good luck.......and put yourself first for once.

Just want to express my sincere thanks to you all for your help and advice, and also to let you know the outcome of my visit to the Doctor today.

He gave me two injections and prescribed Volerol tablets.  Since I have come home I have been practically "in residence" in the bathroom!!  I have no idea if I have passed the stones but I am glad to report that the pain is not as severe.

Keep your fingers crossed that this will do the trick, together with all the water and cranberry juice I am drinking.

If there is no improvement by next Monday, I am to go back to the Doctor again and we will take it from there.  In all the fog of the pain I was in, I forgot to ask what the injections were and what he hoped they would do, but I will ask him on Monday.

Many, many thanks again for all your help and advice and support.   xx

Thank you for thinking of me Tayto.   The pain has eased a lot so the medication is working.

Should it stay at this level, I feel I can cope with flying to Marbella for the Wedding and then visit the doctor again on my return, to get rid of it completely.

I can only compare the pain to childbirth contractions which get stronger in intensity.  At least that intensity has gone and I now just have a constant dull ache.   xx

It's appalling that there is something that can be done very quickly but ...................it doesn't appear to be readily available in England.

Some years ago we were on holiday in France with friends. My friend was taken ill with kidney stones during the night ..............she was admitted to hospital - was treated (can't remember how, laser possibly) an overnight stay and back to enjoy the rest of her holiday afterwards. Why should people have to suffer when there is a quick fix readily available?

I should add - all this was done on her E11 - not privately!

Hoet you get sorted Annoca ................enjoy the wedding!

You probably will not see this ANNOCA  (at least not immediately.)
I hope - very much hope - that you have made it to Marbella for the wedding.
Obviously we also hope that you are feeling much better.
Would love to hear your latest news about your health, the wedding, and of course Dante and Dali.
So as soon as you are able.....
