Yes and no. It's because all out telephone lines are overhead, and also they share the same poles as the power supply. The powerlines cause problems with wireless internet connections. So high winds affect the connection, but also when it rains as the rain gets into bits that should be kept watertight. As we get incessant rain here it's a daily problem.

I doubt it as it all comes down to money. BT have laid off a lot of their workforce recently, and there's really nothing they can do about the overhead telephone lines in most rural places as it would be far too costly to put them below ground. Still, we're moving fairly soon, and we hope we get a better internet wireless connection where we end up.
