If you go to Explore in the bar at the top of the page and scroll down to the bottom you will find Search.
Click on this and it will give you a search box. Type in someone's name and then go through the choices it gives you.
Most of us have an avatar so you should be able to pick it out fairly fast. You will get some with a music icon on the right of the but ignore these. They are bands or songs. Look at the ones with the cloudy person image.

I'm not good with descriptions BB but it's like a black and white shadow of a person. On the far right of the page you get when you do a search.
It's the same on some people's profiles if they don't have an avatar up.

I'm with you. You mean a blank outline like you get on FB if someone hasn't set an avatar?

I'm glad I found someone else who has to carefully choose her time when attempting anything on the net.
When you can my buddy request will be in 'My Alerts' in Ticker (on the bar at the top). Click on My Alerts and it will tell you that I have requested you to be a buddy.
I think you then click on Accept.
Don't worry. You won't need to use all this for the Forum.

I have unticked everything for My Profile so no one can see that.
I have ticked Close Friends to write on my wall and I have unticked everything for my Buddies list.
Anyone I add as a buddy is goes into Close Friends and only they can see and write on my wall. No one (I think) can see my Buddies list and no one can see My Profile.

Yes BB. There's lots of stuff there and it's very similar to FB but it's causing a lot of confusion here.

BB. I've looked at the search again and you can filter what you want to find. So if you're looking for a person you won't get all the others up. I never spotted that before.
