Children Under Age 13

Facebook does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. The thing with the pictures is most profiles are private and can't be viewed by anyone who isn't on your friend list. If it is one of your sons school chums the chances are most of his friends will also be school chums and they are the only ones who can see the pictures. If you were to sign up you would need to become friends with the person who has the photo before you can see it.

Someone at school mentioned that they had seen it. I have my reasons for keeping pictures of myself and family off things like this. He isn't bothered too much but I'm very unhappy about it.

If someone at school mentioned they had seen it then they will be able to identify who has put it on. I'd start by asking politely for it to be removed, (either the parent of the child or through the school.) If that doesn't work then I'd be more forceful, I'm pretty sure it's a breach of the data protection act to publish someone's pic without their consent..and if there's cyber-bullying going on then there are criminal offences relating to that.
