Cool I know it's rude to ask a ladies age but erm, what vintage is she?
late 60sish plus a little bit.
I think that's ace
So do I. Plus this means I get internet usage when I go to stay there. I love my grandma.
Well done Puppy`s Grandma.
Go Grandma
My nana uses facebook at my mums. Her status updates crack me up and she does quizzes like "what is your best sex position?"

My mum is 82 and started using the internet last year. It has been a very, very difficult experience, and I think I have aged 20 years trying to explain even the most basic things to her

I really hope my grandma doesn't follow her example But she sounds amazing.

My aunts doing that. We just got a very funny email saying she might yet dye her hair pink and blue stripes.
That's excellent.
If my mum could, am sure she would join this place.
But my dad's a funny so and so and doesn't want the net.

You'll have to block the porn sites, you know. These grannies, once they've had a shufty at what's on offer and got the hang of search engines then they're away googling "Val Doonican naked pictures" before you can say Werhers Originals.

I will have to check through her history.

LOL... as one 60ish plus a little bit to another... tell her way to go
My mum's nearly 70 and she's spends more time on Facebook than I do. She's constantly on her iPhone as is my dad who is 70.
They're like a couple of teenagers and I have to tell them to put their phones down and talk like normal people do!!
I think it's great that older people are using the internet and computers.

Wish my other grandparents would. Then I wouldn't have to keep booking their flights for them.

My OH's parents spend hours on the phone to him, having things explained. His face is a picture!
I might suggest a Skype phone to them next!
~sigh~ what's so weird about older peeps using the internet? Loads of them do, they've been dubbed "silver surfers" by some.
I'm only 40-something, but I think this thread's pretty patronising.

Val Doonican? He's for great-grandmas. My Mum, who would be a great-grandma if my sons would get on with their breeding programme, thinks Alan Titchmarsh is the sexiest man alive!

Indeed it is. Strikes me that most people who use the internet are more than 40 years old, and that the most adept users are the 50-year-old baby boomers, many of whom have been working with computers, one way or another, for the past 40 years. Some of their old bosses are probably surfing away, as well.
i dont (personally) know anyone over the age of 60 who use the internet, or can even get the grasp of it. i know there are plenty of them (i talk to some of you ) but the people over 60 i know are frankly rubbish with computers and dont even try to understand them....mind you the one that comes to mind the most is my dad and he is just annoying anyway
now though my brother who lives with him has got a laptop so dad is bugging him instead when he wants to look at model classic cars on ebay.
honestly though he can't even grasp the idea of clicking the mouse button
he does love playing zelda though...but only the 2d versions but he always used to get me or mum to fight the bosses the big wimp

My MiL's a good one - she went on a course to improve her computer skills and now she's happily doing shopping, booking tickets and other stuff on her lappy - she's 70.
My mother (64) hasn't got to grips with it, ever, because that's what she's like and always has been. I can remember from when I was a kid, she didn't even like using phones - and that was in her 20s. She still doesn't. Nowt to do with her age.

I remember first teaching my mum to use a mouse and laughing as she concentrated hard on the screen and lifted the mouse up vertically into the air I gave up eventually, she can just about manage texting, but she gave up on the net, which is a shame really.

Oh I do love Zelda! I've just bought Zelda, a link to the past on the Wii and it's taken me back years when I played it on the SNES!

THATS the game my mum and dad played (with my help lol) they loved it. i wanna get it for Wii too was it one you download with stars or whatever? we got super mario world that way.
i bought my dad a gameboy colour a few years ago so he could play zelda in 2D..as it was all 3D from that point onwards. and he loved that too...when the batteries hadn't run out
i used to LOVE super tennis on the SNES and Actraiser lol
No I bought a card with 2000 Wii points and and got it that way, I think it was 1000 points so I'm gonna get Majora's Mask as well.
I need to cash in my star points so might get Super Mario 64 with that. I think it's great you can play all the classics on the Wii, you can't beat them.
I hated Zelda when it went 3D too..

Why the surprise? I am almost 68 and have been using the internet for yonks! I have also trained hundreds of older people - some in their 90's - to use computers.
aaw

majora's mask is 3D tho
i love em, unless the 'camera' gets stuck and then they piss me off
you can also play gamecube games on the Wii ,though need to use gamecube controllers and buy a Wii SD crd to save progress on.
i love my Wii

I remember the first email my 70-year-old dad sent me. The title was 'how do I send a bloody email' and when I opened it, it was completely blank
