I spotted that Laura Robson has been playing at Wimbledon in the ladies' invitation doubles so, although she's retired from professional tennis she's still able to play
Yes, noticed that too!
@El Loro posted:Although no ranking points this year, unlikely to have a dramatic effect on positions other than Katie Boulter dropping by around 10 places, Emma Raducanu's position won't change much and could improve by one.
Post Wimbledon the rankings are as expected:
Emma Raducanu 10th, Harriet Dart 87th, Heather Watson 119th, Katie Boulter 131st, Jodie Burrage 143rd.
If Wimbledon had received ranking points Heather would have been back in the top hundred just ahead of Harriet.
Highlights of the very high profile match which took place this morning:
And Emma Raducanu's post match interview:
Early stages of the US Open qualifying rounds. Heather Watson, Katie Boulter & Jodie Burrage have their first rounds tomorrow. Harriet Dart's ranking is such that she goes straight into the main draw.

Heather Watson won her second qualifying round match in straight sets and plays her third round this evening, Katie Boulter lost.

Harriet Dart through to second round beating the 10th seed Daria Kasatkina in 3 sets.
Emma Raducanu's tough match against Alize Cornet scheduled for midnight.
Emma Raducanu lost in straight sets so her ranking will drop to the 80s. If Harriet Dart wins her second round match she will become the new British number 1.
Rankings after the US Open: Emma Raducanu 83, Harriet Dart 85, Katie Boulter 137, Heather Watson 146.
If there had been ranking points for Wimbledon, Heather's ranking would have been quite a lot better, somewhere in the 90s.
The British team for next month's Billie Jean King Cup in Glasgow are Emma Raducanu, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson and Katie Boulter, A fifth player will be chosen before then.
With Emma Raducanu still recovering from a wrist injury, the British team for next week's Billie Jean King Cup finals are Harriet Dart, Katie Boulter, Heather Watson and doubles players Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls.
The other countries in GB's group are Kazakhstan and Spain. It's a tough group for GB as they have the lowest rankings of the three countries and are only in the finals as they are the host country.
One of the best days for years for GB's women yesterday in the Billy Jean King Cup.
The 3 countrues in their mini group were Spain (ranked 3), Kazakhstan (9) and GB (17)
Tuesday was Kazakhstan who won 2-1 against GB.
Wednesday Spain won 3-0 against Kazahkstam.
For GB to progress to the semi-finals on Saturday they had to beat Spain 3-0.
Heather Watson got GB off to a good start by thrashing Nuria Parrizas Diaz 6-0, 6-2.
Harriet Dart (ranked 98) then played Paula Radosa (13) and beat her 6-3, 6-4.
And then in the doubles Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls (who are doubles specilaists) beat Aliona Bolsova and Rebeka Masarova 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 .
GB face Australia in the semi-finals, Australia are number 1 in the rankings though.
In the Australian Open, Emma Raducanu is through to the second round where she has a much tougher match against Coco Gauff.
The only other British woman who was in the tournament is Harriet Dart. But she's just lost her match,
Coco Gauff beat Emma Raducanu over 2 sets in a good match, Coco Gauff is one of the favourites to win this Open (and many many more).
Heather Watson through to the quarter-finals in the Thailand Open. It's her first WTA Tour quarter-final in 18 months.

but lost that quarter-final match.
Emma Raducanu got through to the last 16 in the Indian Wells tournament but lost against the world number one Iga Swiatek. Her ranking will improve from 77 to about 63. Not bad for someone who thought that she would have to withdraw from the tournament due to a wrist injury and recovering from tonsillitis but decided to play at the last moment. Her best tournament since the 2021 US Open.
Emma Raducanu's ranking improved to 72nd rather than 63rd as she had got to the second round at Indian Wells last year.
Major article by Russell Fuller, BBC tennis correspondent today looking at the state of British tennis with only Emma Raducanu in the top 100 of women's tennis (and 4 in the top 100 of men's tennis) which is below those of the other Grand Slam countries,

Emma Raducanu to miss the French Open and Wimbledon due to a series of operations on both hands and one ankle.

She's had recurring injury problems.
Shell drop out of the top hundred. Looks as if there won't be any British women players in the top 100, the first time in years. Jodie Burrage would become the British number one - she's ranked at 110.
None of the British women playing in the qualifier rounds for the French Open got past the second round so there won't be any in the main draw (unless any of them are given wildcards or lucky losers slots).
The Nottingham Open is a WTA250 event so doesn't get as many ranking points as higher WTA events but even so, it's some good news in that Jodie Burrage, Katie Boulter and Heather Watson have got through to the semi-finals. Katie Boulter v Heather Watson in one of those, Jodie Burrage's opponent not yet known.
Final is between Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage. I think it quite possible that both will get into the top 100 and be the top 2 British women.
Katie Boulter beat Jodie Burrage 6-3, 6-3. New rankings out tomorrow.
The new rankings show:
Katie Boulter up by 48 places to 77

Katie Boulter 55
Jodie Burrage 98
Harriet Dart 120
Heather Watson 149
Yuriko Lily Miyazaki 169
(Katie Swan has dropped to 278 and Emma Raducanu to 296)
Emma Raducanu intends to make her comeback next month in the ADB Classic in Auckland which is one of those tournaments held in the run up to the Australian Open. She will be entitled to use her protected ranking of 103 which was her ranking at the time of the last event she entered. That ranking isn't high enough for automatic entry into the Australian Open main draw though it's possible that she might get a wildcard,
Hannah Klugman. aged 14, wins the Orange Bowl junior championships in the under 18 division at Florida. She's now the youngest person to win, Coco Gauff had been the youngest back in 2018.
Could be a British player to look out for in the future.
Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu through to the second round of the Australian Open this morning, Jodie Burrage lost yesterday.
If they were to win their second round matches they would meet in the third round.
They both lost their second round matches though Emma Raducanu's was closer than Katie Boulter's.
Latest rankings in the top 200 after a few matches won by British players:
Katie Boulter 48
Jodie Burrage 89
Harriet Dart 92
Heather Watson 132
Yuriko Lily Miyazaki 175
So improvements this year so far.
(Emma Raducanu is currently 262)
Those are the running rankings based on the 12 months to today which are the ones generally mentioned in the media. The rankings from the start of 2024 to today are interesting showing 5 players in the top 100:
Katie Boulter 31

Katie Boulter is having a good week in the San Diego tournament. She's through to her first WTA 500 semi-final. Her ranking will improve by at least 10 places to the top 40.

And she's through to the final
Well done, Katie Boulter on winning her first WTA 500 title in the San Diego tournament
She is now in the top 30 with a ranking of 27,
Well done, GB on beating France in the Billie Jean King Cup playoffs to go through to the finals. Although Katie Boulter lost her first singles match yesterday, Emma Raducanu levelled by beating Caroline Garcia. Then today Katie Boulter won her second singles match and Emma Raducanu has just won hers. So GB through 3-1. What's more GB were playing away to France on a clay surface which Emma isn't used to,
There would have been a doubles match involving Harriet Dart and Heather Watson but there's no need to play that now.
Emma is well on the way back.
