Emma and Sonay were rivals when they were younger. Sonay has been playing in ITF tournaments and has won some of them. Had been injured and is slowly rising in the rankings.

GB face the Czech Republic in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers in Prague today and tomorrow, Best of 5 matches. A tough round for GB as Emma Raducanu hasn't played on clay before.

Laura Robson has confirmed her retirement from tennis. She hasn't played for a long time due to injury, 3 hip operations, rehab so her retirement is not unexpected but it's now official.

As Emma Raducanu has been on the WTA circuit for a year I thought I would look at the British player rankings for the year to date so excluding Wimbledon (as no ranking points this year) and the US Open.
She is still the British number 1 but down to a world ranking of 57. Heather Watson is 78, Harriet Dart 91 and Katie Boulter 139.
Notable wins at Eastbourne yesterday with Jodie Burrage beating the world number 4 Paula Badosa and Katie Boulter beating the world number 7 Karolina Pliskova, the first time either of them have beaten a top ten player.

Harriet Dart won her delayed match from yesterday and her second match of the day to get to the quarter finals at Eastbourne. Result means that she'll be in the top 100 in the next set of rankings and is the British number 2.
Wimbledon starts today, Emma Raducanu in action though she keeps on getting injuries as she starts to get used to playing at senior professional level. Harriet Dart may be the British player to go the furthest this year, also Katie Boulter.
Although no ranking points this year, unlikely to have a dramatic effect on positions other than Katie Boulter dropping by around 10 places, Emma Raducanu's position won't change much and could improve by one.

Harriet Dart won her first round match, that will be overshadowed in the media by Emma Raducanu losing her second round match to Caroline Garcia, Caroline Garcia, a former top 10 player, won the Bad Homburg Open in Germany last week. She beat Bianca Andreescu who was the US Open champion in 2019.

Heather Watson and Harriet Dart win their second round in the women's doubles. Heather back in action later in the first round of the mixed doubles. Heather has been in action at Wimbledon 6 days in a row and is back tomorrow in the fourth round in the singles.
Looks as if Heather Watson withdrew from the mixed doubles so that she can concentrate on her singles match today and her doubles match tomorrow
