Draw for the Australian Open includes:
Johanna Konta against Kaja Juvan
Heather Watson against Kristyna Pliskova
Katie Boulter (using her protected ranking) against Daria Kasatkina
and Francesca Jones (who came through the qualifying rounds) against Shelby Rogers.
Poor start for the Australian Open. The only British player playing on day 1 was Katie Boulter. Daria Kasatkina beat her 6-1, 6-4.
Better start for day 2. Heather Watson beat Kristyna Pliskova 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-3), a hard match due to Heather getting less match practice due to the hotel confinement. 4 days ago she had a spasm in her left leg during practice and had been concerned she wouldn't be able to play.
Second round opponent is Anett Kontaveit, seed 21.
Not so good for the others.
Shelby Rogers beat Francesca Jones 6-4, 6-1. Francesca Jones is one to look out for in the future.
Bad news for Johanna Konta. She had won the first set against Kaja Juvan, but had to withdraw early in the second round with an abdominal injury. She has no idea as to why this happened.
Anett Kontaveit beat Heather Watson in the second round 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-2. Heather said that "I'm really happy with the way I played, I hung in there - it was such a tough match. The momentum was swinging. I managed to fight for everything."
Heather Watson still in the Australian Open as she's through to the third round of the women's doubles - she's partnered with Leylah Fernandez, 18, from Canada for this event.
Francesca Jones who was knocked out in the Australian Open is playing in the Phillip Island tournament this week and has won her first round match. This is her first WTA tour win. She beat Zheng Saisai who is ranked 44 so this also her first win over a player in the top 100. Also this win means that she will break into the top 200 for the first time.
Heather Watson and Leylah Fernandez were beaten in straight sets in their doubles match.
Francesca Jones also lost her second round match.
Katie Boulter lost to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the first round of the Monterrry Open.
A British player will get through to the second round as Heather Watson and Harriet Dart (who got through the qualifiers) meet later today.
The Monterry Open tournament is held between the Indian Wells tournament (which was postponed) and the Miami Open which starts next week. The Indian Wells and the Miami Open tournaments are WTA1000 events which are the tier immediately below the Grand Slam events.
Harriet Dart beat Heather Watson 6-4 7-6 (7-1) . Her second round opponent is Viktoria Kuzmova.
Heather Watson & Saisai Zheng through to the doubles final at Monterrey. Their opponents are Caroline Dolehide & Asia Muhammad.
Edited to mention that Heather Watson & Saisai Zheng lost.
The qualifying rounds of the Miami Open start later today. Harriet Dart is in those. Johanna Konta, Heather Watson and Katie Boulter are in the main draw.
Harriet Dart lost her second qualifier.
Heather Watson and Katie Boulter have their first round matches today (late) and Johanna Konta tomorrow.
Johanna Konta won her first round match.
Katie Boulter plays her second round match later today.
Katie seems to be a bit more prominent these days.

Hopefully, she'll get back in the top 100 by the end of this season though she lost her second round match.
Although Johanna Konta got through to the third round, Petra Kvitova overwhelmed her 6-1, 6-2.
British team announced for the Billie Jean King Cup play off against Mexico on the 16th & 17th. This is the revamped Fed Cup.
Team is Heather Watson, Harriet Dart, Katie Swan, Jodie Burrage and Katie Boulter. Johanna Konta is out due to a longstanding knee problem which means that she has to limit the number of tournaments she's in.
Mexico is without their top player.
If Britain wins, they would go through to a one off qualifier next February, the winners would go through to the 12 teams finals next April.
French Open postponed by a week. Will affect the grass court season leading to Wimbledon.
Katie Boulter and Heather Watson won their matches today to lead Mexico 2-0. Similar matches with the first set being close and the second set more clear cut. Reverse singles and doubles tomorrow potentially but GB only need to win one match to get through to the qualifier next February.
Although Heather Watson lost her singles match, Katie Boulter has won hers so Great Britain through to the qualifier next February.
The ITF has terminated its contract with Budapest for staging the Billie Jean King Cup finals in Budapest next year following The Hungarian Tennis Association (HTA) writing to the ITF on 22 April to say this year's event could not be staged safely as a result of Covid-19.

Draw to be made tomorrow for the French Open which starts next week. Johanna Konta and Heather Watson are in the draw. Harriet Dart has won the first two of the qualifying rounds, one match to go.
Harriet Dart lost her third qualifier so just Johanna Konta and Heather Watson in the main draw,
Johanna Konta (current ranking 20) is drawn against Sorana Cirstea (61)
Heather Watson (71) is drawn against Zarina Diyas (93)
Don't know what's happened regarding Katie Boulter. Had been playing ITF matches to improve her rankings but hasn't played since the beginning of the month - she had reached the semi-final in a tournament in the States but retired from it at the end of the first set.
.French Open starts today, Johanna Konta and Heather Watson are scheduled to play tomorrow.
Heather Watson's match is second on court 9, Johanna Konta's is third on court 6,, start of the first match is 10.00.
Heather Watson out in first round losing 4-6, 5-7. Low number of tournaments she's played this year and low on confidence.
Johanna Konta has just won the final at Nottingham . It's the first WTA win for a British player on home soil in 40 years (Sue Barker in October 1981 in Brighton indoors) and the 4th WTA title for Johanna (first since the Miami Open in April 2017).
Not such a good week for Heather Watson being beaten by Katie Boulter and then in Katie's following match she had to retire with an arm injury.
This coming week, it's the Birmingham classic, the following week Eastbourne and then it's Wimbledon. Heather Watson, Harriet Dart and Francesca Jones are the three British players in the Birmingham classic.
Better week for Heather Watson as she's through to the quarter-finals at Birmingham, Harriet Dart and Francesca Jones had lost their first round matches.
Due to yesterday's rain at Birmingham, the quarter-finals were played earlier today, then the semi-finals. Heather Watson won her quarter-final but lost the semi. He must be fairly pleased though as she won 3 singles matches this week, the first time since February 2020. Hopefully that will boost her confidence.
Heather Watson and Harriet Dart are the two British women in the main draw at Eastbourne but have tough first round matches. Heather is against Iga Swiatek whose ranking is 9th and Harriet against Elena Rybakina, ranking is 21st.
Heather Watson and Harriet Dart lost their first round matches, both over 3 sets.
Katie Swan (ranking 290) is one match away from qualifying for the main draw at Wimbledon.
Johanna Konta (30) and Heather Watson (65) are in the main draw.
Also quite a number of British players have had wild cards to the main draw so didn't need to go through qualifying - Katie Boulter (217), Jodie Burrage 270), Harriet Dart (141), Francesca Jones (210), Samantha Murray Sharan (226), and Emma Raducanu (336).

Wow! That;s going to be fantastic for the UK players , for the experience even if they don't progress very far, I take it there are so many wildcards because of Covid!

There do seem to be more wildcards this year, but the number is similar to those at the other Grand Slams this year. Wildcards are made at the discretion of the Wimbledon committee. The higher number may be due to the 2020 Wimbledon being cancelled or it may be due to some overseas players not being prepared or allowed to come here.
Fewer number of wildcards for the men's singles, the best known being Andy Murray of course.
Draw for Wimbledon:
Top half of draw
Johanna Konta v Katerina Siniakova (third round opponent likely to be the number 1 seed Ashleigh Barty)
Sorana Cirstea v Samantha Murray Sharan
Emma Raducanu v one of the qualifiers
Francesca Jones v Coco Gauff !!
Bottom half of draw
One of the qualifiers v Heather Watson (second round opponent would be Sloane Stevens or Petra Kvitova)
Elisa Mertens v Harriet Dart
Jodie Burrage v Lauren Davis
One of the qualifiers v Katie Boulter (second round opponent likely to be the number 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka)
Katie Swan's qualifying match was due to have started but has been delayed due to rain.
Forecast for the start of Wimbledon is bad for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and it's quite possible that little will be played before Thursday. That's per the BBC weather pages.
