Oh thanks...

Do you still get watery eyes and nose when you take them? Do you take them till the end of summer?

I don't get any symptoms anymore, they are really good. 10mg in each tablet. I used to use Piriton, made me feel worse.

One per day, and yes I take them over the summer months.

You could ask for an allergy test. I had one, they skin ***** your arm with various allergants - I found I was allergic to dogs, cats, house dust, er...and whatever...anyway I was given a course of injections (this was when I was 9 cos my allergies were absolutely crippling) and they lasted for years. I only recently had to go back for another course of injections - they were supposed to have lasted a lot less time than they did, anyway my allergies werent so severe and widespread as that first time but it was still only the injections that helped. What you think is hayfever might be a bit more complex is what I'm trying to say.

I managed to say it in a 'oooh me' way sorry! Blush Laugh

I have to blow my nose alot through out the days and my eyes get really watery and itchy....

I think your hayfever may be mild... I just developed it last year...

Get Piriton. They're only available from Pharmacies but you can get them over the counter without prescription. You can take between 1 and 4 per day. They clear up the worst hay fever but side effect is they sometimes cause droziness.Smiler
Oh thanks for that I dont mind drowsiness because im an insomniac Disappointed...

I thought you were just really stoned Razzer Wink

Nah, try Piriton or like above I have heard Hydrochoride works. But TBH I found the natural remedies worked with me better. Honey in tea or on my cereal instead of sugar, and hot lemon and honey in drinks and the natural nasal sprays. But the doctor told me that it all depends on what allergies bring your hayfever on, I.E. grass, spores, pollen etc. Might be good to find out which ones actually irritate you and then go from there.

Speak to your doc about it - my allergies were so severe when I was little the doc pushed for it to be done....but as an adult when my symptoms became bad again I went and told the doc this was what I wanted to be done.

It wasnt 'hayfever' as such...but thats what we all assumed it was because it was a summer type occurence.

Wow, how do you mean by rough?
Just very thick-headed and drowsy (not in a 'good' way Wink ). There are plenty of effective non-drowsy allergy relief meds on the market these days....its just piriton is the name everyone remembers from before.

You are very welcome Smiler I hope you sort it, it can be a real pain. And don't let it get too bad or else you then get sinus trouble as well and that can really suck Frowner

But please let me know if you find a cure for insomnia, I could do with that as well Wink Big Grin

Oo0oh yes I've heard that, if you use localy sourced honey from the spring onwards its s'posed to help you build up a tolerance to the pollen involved in the making.

I reckon its a load of bollocks meself! Wink

But I dont like honey so never tested the theory! Big Grin

I've had really bad hayfever since I was tiny. I've had everything under the sun to combat it and nothing ever worked that well until a few years ago when the doctor prescribed me a combination of Beconase nasal spray, opticrom eyedrops & Zirtek tablets. You can get them all over the counter but it's much cheaper to get the tablets at least on prescription. I swear it's changed my life in the summer using this combination. I'm gutted as I can only use the spray this year because of the bump, but even just using the spray is better than Piriton tablets etc. Honestly, it really does work brilliantly. Hope it clears up for you soon hun. Hug

those electrical things you put up your nose a couple of times a day, work really well, my mate got one, she couldn't take pills because she's breast feeding, and although she looks silly shoving red glowing prongs up her nose, she says it's the best hayfever treatment ever. Big Grin

Frowner Hug

Sorry I haven’t read all the thread.

Pretty, my brother suffered from very bad Hayfever every summer with violent migraines. Eight years ago he went to a Chinese herbal shop; they gave him some of those potions to cook and drink for seven days and a course of acupuncture. It worked a treat for him; he still suffers from Hayfever but mildly with no migraines and very little eye etching.

You might want to consider a reputable Chinese herbalist and discuss it with them. Hug Big Grin

I was very lucky - I grew out of my hayfever. Had it very bad as a pre-teen and worse as a teenager, but I moved to the countryside then and the doc reckoned it was the change of pollen type that gave my allergies a break (I've no clue how that works tbh). I still have other allergies, house dust mite being the worst, so when it acts up I take Zirtek, Clarityn or Cetrine Allergy. They're all non drowsy so I can still drive Smiler Hope you find something that works for you
