If so, which one? Is it any good? I'm thinking of buying hubby one for Christmas, but I just don't know which one to get

My daughter has one - it basically does everything she wants. If you want to download films etc then no.. she has an external drive for music etc....
Depends on what he wants really.

Yeah, it's just a mini computer without the bells and whistles, allthough as Issy says you can plug in externally. I should imagine if you stick to the 'known' makes then you should be ok. I have seen them with 90% full keyboard size too, Not sure if that makes any difference or not.
Thanks you two - I wish someone could just tell about one that they are happy with though.
All he will want to do is a bit of Internetty stuff and email

Ooo, I've got a Toshiba lappy and haven't had any probs with it. My neice's hubby's uncle owns a comp shop and FWIW he seems to think Tosh's are one of the better ones.
Cheers both

I've got one - ÂĢ200 and it does everything it should...... but the better news is I got a new laptop yesterday.....it's lovely, and shiny, and has 4gb of ram which is double what my last one had so it feels like christmas here now

I've had an Asus Aspire One for a couple of years, which I've been really happy with. Growly Jnr has got a Samsung N150, which she thinks is wonderful.
My last one which I've donated to hubby was an Advent and it was great ....at times it felt like my best pal - I've only replaced it because CIV V has come out and there's no way it would play it.
After dropping my last one on the floor I had to get one kinda pronto so didn't have a big budget. Got a Zoostrom Freedom in Argos for ÂĢ199 and although I only surf the net on it it is perfect for me. I don't mind the smaller screen (10.2") and keyboard and can take it anywhere in my handbag! The memory isn't massive but I don't download a lot of stuff so it doesn't bother me. Only had it about a month now but I've had no problems with it (apart from wireless not activating with the F2 button but the solution was online) and am also considering buying my OH one for xmas even though he wants a proper sized one (I'm paying though so it'll be a notebook lol).
Most netbooks are watered down versions of the bigger lappys but there are devices you can plug in to get more from it like the external hard drive that someone mentioned.
