I have been  in a police car when I was hurt in an accident... near Chequers . The Protectio squad were nearby and saw the cars all tailing back so came to see what was amiss.
They were brilliant and once they saw that it was no way my fault could not have been nicer.
After everything had been sorted they took me back in their car to have a cup of tea in the lodge which was their HQ on the estate.

They were lovely... and yes they were armed

with the bells ringing and everything.... and that should tell you how long ago it was

Been in both and both were traffic accidents. First a guy ran into us and took off, I was a witness and hence a lift in the police car to make a statement. Ambulance was when a nurse pulled out on me and kindly wrote my car off and very nearly me, sirens and everything Baz.

Many years ago in my teens:

Police van - in handcuffs! Got involved in a scuffle on Oxford street. The Police lined a number of us up for a search - at which point it dawned on me that i was carrying a flick knife that i had oh so cleverly () bought on a school trip to France a few months earlier. Tried to escape - caught - banged up in West End Central with the utter humiliation of my mum having to come into town and bail me out on a Saturday evening after she finished work (in Enfield). Naughty, eh?

Ambulance - unconscious and have no memory of the ride to hospital. Got into a fight outside a pub in Wood Green - got hit with something heavy, collapsed, hit my head on the curb and swallowed my tongue - was in a mess according to friends.

Police car - kindly driven home from the above hospital by the boys in blue! Battered, bruised... but as i recall; already looking forward to going out the following night! lol

Been in a police car... being breathalysed.     No, btw, I hadn't been drinking - I'd been sitting waiting patiently to drive over a single track bridge when an idiot in a truck came round the corner on the wrong side of the road and totalled my car.    Routine says I had to be breathalysed too.... I was terrified thinking of the red wine I'd sunk the night before, but luckily it was clear.

Bloomin' embarrassing sitting in police car with everyone rubber-necking.

Been in an ambulance three times.
The first time, I was in labour with No1 son and they had the lights and siren going. No complications, son was just in a big hurry to make his appearance.
Second time was accompanying No1 son to hospital. He had banged his head at Playgroup and had mild concussion.
Third time was accompanying hubby, who had collapsed with chest pains - thankfully, it was a gastric problem not a heart attack.
I have never been in a police car, 'cos I'm a good girl, I am.

oh yeah Kaffy... I've sat in one waiting to be breathalysed too!  and like you I hadn't been drinking & it wasn't my fault (a very very very old man on a moped blacked out as he approached me sitting at red traffic lights... he went straight into the back of my car).     And the looks I got off people, me sitting in the police car, and an old boy out cold on the floor with paramedics round him!

Never been in either but I am thinking I should have been in an ambulance quite a lot when my eldest was young and used to take awfully high temperatures and had breathing problems.  I'd ring the out of hours doctor and they'd always tell me to get a taxi straight over to A&E....fine by me coz I just wanted him seen to but when I think back it was a mad dash and panic on the way there and probably should have rang an ambulance!

i bet you was trying too not look guilty as people were staring at you

I wanted to shout at every passing car "its not my fault, I didn't hit him, he drove into me!"

the policeman had put me in his car cos it was a really hot day, and said I would be more comfortable in there cos he had air con.   I don't even think I noticed it... cos in the 20 mins I was waiting I was getting myself tied up in knots..  mind going into overdrive, and although I hadn't had a drink in about 36 hours (& then only a glass of wine)..   I was convinced the breath test was gonna be positive!

it wasn't

I think me posting in this thread earlier was tempting fate!!  I very nearly had to ring an ambulance for my son today when he couldnt breath with coughing so much. Was just picking up my fone to ring it when he caught his breath and I took him to the GPs office which is just 5 mins away and they gave him the nebulizer and sent him to hossy.  Scary stuff!
