When asked what's the most important thing, he pointed at Rebekah Wade and said, she is. How long will it be before his family and business associates are fed up with an old man's fancy?

Since his arrival in this country in the wake of the NI scandal, his behaviour has been bizarre to say the least. A PR disaster that, hopefully, will scupper any hopes he had of taking over BSkyB.
Did he ever have the plot?
Thoroughly odious man, I loathe him.
As to his family getting fed up with him - too little too late I reckon Cologne
someone on twitter said that its twice in one week that a red top had gone down on him..silly old duffer is in lurve

I honestly don't think it's anything like that. Many have said that Murdoch sees Rebekah like a daughter. There's a loyalty aspect to it as well (which works both ways).
As far as how his family sees it: I believe James and Elisabeth are close friends with Rebekah. James certainly is, and their working relationship makes it look as if they're joined at the hip at times.
As for his business associates: well, the thing about News Corporation is that most of those in real power are family, and those who aren't may as well be...
On a more cynical note, it's been suggested that Rebekah is a useful buffer between the Murdochs and their dealings. And then there's the question of how many bodies she knows the location of....

She's probably hacked a few of his conversations. (Just a hunch)

Quite possibly. After all, they were hacking hers...

Mr.Jer I know you might not like the idea, but if you're interested in this you should get yourself on twitter. You don't need to say anything, you can just sign up and follow all the journos and other peoples who are posting updates about this stuff. The Guardian account is brilliant on there and some of the other grime that has been unearthed by other people is interesting, too.
Did anyone see the Telegraph story re the Harry Potter/Rebekah Brooks/9/11 stuff?

No, what was that Karma?
I think Tom Watson's already done himself a lot of favours.

I don't mean sexual, just flight of fancy. I do think she must have a lot on the lot by now after all these loyal years on the gutter press.
I have often wondered if having her head firmly wedged up Murdochs arse is what she classes investigative journalism?

It's worth a read, gives you an insight into what she's really all about. And it ain't pretty.
The original article that was unearthed due to the allegations:

I think anyone who is BFFs with Murdoch, would have to be moderately unsavoury at the very least!

Oh, don't worry - I realize that. However some definitely are seeing (or choosing to see) it in "dirty old man" terms. Take the quote pirate posted for starters...
My own personal take on that now-infamous photo of the two of them together is that - from their perspective - it was extremely unprofessional. Quite a few journalists pointed out at the time that it was very bad publicity to be caught laughing and joking in public while such a serious story was breaking around them, and as two very experienced newspaper people they should have realized that....

That is sort of my question about losing the plot. He wouldn't have behaved like that 20 years ago. I just don't understand what has turned him from a news hound into the under dog.

I am also wondering that Ev, but I have a feeling that Muroch will somehow cover her back!

As long as she has the backing of the Murdoch family she will survive.....She knows where the bodies are buried.
She claims she has offered to resign (twice) but this was refused by Rupert Murdoch, but just because her employer doesn't accept the resignation doesn't mean she is forced to continue in her job.
If she had a shred of decency in her she would go.

She said she would go a while back, but is this not just a cop out? So she can now say, well i did offer!!
Gah!

Cos the crux is they couldn't give a toss about their minions. The redundancy packages won't hit him hard cos a lot staff won't have had years of service, and those that do, they will find some crappy (supposedly of equal level to previous) job for them within the corporation that they will have to take or get nothing at all except a P45.
