ION, in my search for Reiki I have somehow provisionally booked myself an Indian Head Massage, a Dermalogica facial and eyebrow threading.
! Better check with physiobloke on the IHM.. might be contraindicated . Watch the price of Reiki Karma, some folk charge a blimmin fortune for it while others are happy with a donation .. just cause it costs more doesn't mean it's better, Reiki is Reiki!

That's what I was thinking which is why it's a provisional booking, it looks lovely though!

Just one more question about this Reiki....they don't touch you do they? Like, no-one's gonna have their hands on my lils or anything like that?

That's included in my stuff and has been the primary trigger of the ME. I feel for you, Slinki. Hope it's sorted or at least more comfortable now? x
Got it under control now ta! ( mine was caused by  high spinal fluid pressure.. lumbar punctures and meds keep it level-ish now, but Reiki and acupuncture were a huge help while they tried to figure what the prob was!) Hope you get yours sorted , it's murderpolis! xx

Can be done hands on, or with hands just above you Karma - just tell em what your preference is! If they're on yer lils, that's not Reiki !

any touching should be ontop of clothes...   not on your lils...   and with flat (not clutching) hands!

Oh.. & I agree with what slinkeh says about the price..    most of the 'apparently' bona fide Reiki people ask for a donation.

oh & about physio's...    they are not always as foolproof as people think either - they put my mum through 13 sessions of traction (basically they had her on a stretching rack)..  causing her slightly out of place disc to be completely displaced.. & requiring surgery to rectify!   Mind you..  I do think she was a bit mad having that much faith in them that despite being in agony during & after every traction session, still going back for all 13 appointments!

If he's a looker I may opt for the hands on approach.
Heheheh! I prefer hands on.. least you know the therapist isn't pickin their nose or texting or anything while you're lying there eyes closed and  chilled out !

I've had worse experiences lying back with my eyes closed, believe me.

Dits, tbh my physio does seem to know his stuff. He's the first person bar the neurosurgeon who knew exactly what my surgery was about and the affect it's had, completely understood the pain and the muscle spasms and stuff. Proper clued up. He also got me on to the OT and I've had grab rails and various stuff fitted in the house thanks to him (and the team). The only thing I was not happy about was he ordered me this wheeled walker thing to use outside, it's like a tricycle with a bloody Roy Cropper shopping bag on it. I just can't bring myself to take it out. I may not be in my heels but roots are still done and my upper lip is still fuzz free, I have some dignity left

Its a bugger innit..     a good physio, or a good ostepath can sort you right out..

but how on earth do you know if they are good un or not.

I went to one when I first went to the quacks when I had the trapped nerve thing..  I think she must have been a good un, cos (the GP referred me to her)...  at the end of my first appointment she told me it wasn't something physiotherapy could treat, and wrote back to the GP telling her to refer me to a surgeon!

hahahaha...   my sole reasoning for her being a good therapist was based on her ability to say there was nothing she could do.

I think I am still slightly cynical about these things.

Year before last Mr L and I went to Spain for a few days break,2 nights before we were due to come home I slipped in the shower and done my dodgy back in,aside from being in agony I was demented how I'd ever manage to board a plane and endure a flight home.....We'd met a couple from here and it turned out she practised Reiki and she offered to come to our room and try to help me.I was sceptical, very very sceptical but I'd nothing to lose so decided to go ahead....She arrived made me lie face down on the bed(that took some doing tbh) explained exactly what she was doing an after a few moments I felt this heat in my back, not uncomfortable in fact it was so relaxing. When my back goes I'm usually either immobilised for days or go around like Quasimodos sister hanging onto walls and doors for support, after having Reiki that wasn't the case next day saw me running through Barcelona airport to catch our flight completely pain free.

Tis good stuff Lee! Definitely one of those ones you have to try though, it just sounds loopy when you try to explain what it is, eh?

Hi Slinki.....I have to say it's hard to explain how sceptical I was but my pain and desperation overrode those so I gave it a go and was shocked how it worked....Usually when my back goes it takes days and days before I can manage to walk upright, days of crawling out of bed backwards inch by inch ,sitting on the floor in the shower as I'd never manage to stand or get washed so to be free from pain so quickly was astounding.Would I have Reiki again if the need arose?,without a doubt 100% yes.
