It's a TV series. People on my counselling course were raving about it today. I'm just wondering what other people think and whether it's worth asking for the boxed set for my birthday.

I just wiki'd it cos I'd never heard of it and it's got Blair Underwood in *swoooooooontastic* If you know when and where it's on could you let us know pls cos I know someone who would be really interested in that x
Well all I know is that the first series was shown on one of the Sky channels. Basically, it's a series about a therapist (Gabriel Byrne) and his clients. You see one therapy session a day from Monday to Thursday and then the Friday is him discussing the work with his supervisor. It must be a hit in the States because they're about to start Series 3.
I'll try and google again tomorrow and have a better look but if anyone here knows when it's on that would be just chooffin grehhhhhhht
I saw it when it was on Sky Arts
It's brilliant.

Oooo ta, Deman!
The person he sees every Friday is his own therapist, played by Dianne Wiest, because he's got as least as many problems as his patients. It's very involving, even though each show is only 30 minutes.
I started training as a counsellor years ago, got up to level 2 and passed it when I realised I have zero tolerance for people. Like, actual people, not certain kinds of people, all people.
PULL YERSELS TOGETHER!
Not good is it?
Sounds good Peter, I've never heard of it. I'll look out for it now.

You remind me of my boyfriend! When he was trying to decide which area of psychology to specialise in, he considered counselling. Then he realised that if he had a client threatening to throw themselves off a cliff, he'd be driving them to the nearest one.

Yep, all counsellors have to do that. We call it supervision.Btw, I love Diane Wiest so that's made me even more inclined to get the series.

But then who does supervision on the therapist?
You mean the therapist who gives us supervision? They have to go for supervision for their supervision work. It's very similar to pyramid selling
BTW Pete don't know if you or anyone you know uses Foursquare or Facebook places? I've just put a link up on my FB from mashable that's worth a read. x
Oh applies to Twitter users too if they link Foursquare and FB places to the same users.

That's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure just in case xReference:

I just went and read that. I don't use Places or Foursquare for that very reason (plus I'm neurotic about just anyone being able to know where I am). Let's face it, I always keep my mobile on silent because I don't like people being able to get hold of me whenever they want!
Don't blame you! I have friends on there that use it and it locates exactly where they are, the name of their road and even the location in the street (and these people have thousands of friends). They are the most ridiculous apps I've seen, they're designed to keep in close touch with your friends (or some marketing hype bollocks), but whoever uses it may aswell just post their address and daily schedule for everyone to see
Sorry to hijack your fred, just wanted to make sure you knew about it x

Dianne Wiest's character was his original supervisor, but they became estranged. He gets back in touch and instigates some proper therapy sessions with her for himself, because his life is quite - errrm - complicated. I won't spoil it for you by saying more.Add Reply
