I had to have it removed, I was asleep for that! and I was right as rain in a couple of days... please don't worry about your mum she is in the right hands.. once they give her pain medication she won't have any pain...

A pea sized one is pretty big! I couldn't have wee'd that out! Eeker

I couldn't either, that's why I had to have it removed surgically! Thumbs Up

It was the same for me Mollie! The pethadrine was... ummm... an experience! (it is similar to heroin I believe!) Cool
Hang on though! Does that mean the MALE doctors may be right about this kidney stone/childbirth pain comparison issue! Mad

Not for me... I was 7 months preggers... so had both experiences within 12 weeks (I had the gestation period of an blue whale.. well not quite.. 10 months)...

the kidney stone experience lasted about 50 hours and was agony

the giving birth experience lasted 3 and half days and I wanted to die!

It's excruciating and one of the conditions that guarantee immediately being given very strong pain killing medication for. Drug addicts have been known to try and emulate the symptoms, so that they can get the heavy drugs that are automatically given for it. Nobody can feign that pain convincingly!

the pain of giving birth was as bad in one way... except you get gaps with contractions... so you can breath again... for me with kidney stones it was like being at the last stages of labour without the gaps!! but morphine did the trick! I was as happy as larry!! no pain.. yaayyyy

I had kidney stones between my second and third child, and I would rather give birth than pass another stone.

My GP came out during the night and injected me with drugs. I had pyelonephritis too and was shuddering on the floor when he arrived, thinking I was dying.

I was told it was my own fault because at the time, I was working night shifts on a busy ward and didn't drink much, or pee at all during a ten and a half hour shift!

I soon changed that!

It lulled me into a false sense of security for the up and coming birth (I thought I'd felt the worst pain possible)

I think I may have called a few doctors lying barstewards during my time in the delivery suite! Blush

(also I'm now feeling robbed that I missed out on the decent painkillers you lot are talking about during my stone experience!)
