I had my first one vere last night and cannot believe how incredibly painful it was - it woke me up and the muscle is still very tender today!!

Just the thought of the pain now make me feel sick!!

Exactly the same thing happened to me last weekend. Took a few days for the tenderness to go but my leg's fine now. Hug

sorry, when I say arch your toes, I mean, spread your toes out on any flat surface, force them flat, no matter how painful it is, then arch your foot, then rub the back of your calf vigorously, it really does work Nod Big Grin

It's VERY painful Pretty. My sympathies.

What works for me is to point my toes upwards as hard as I can towards my shin as soon as I feel that first twang - stretch the muscle out as it were. It always stops it in its tracks for me.

I didn't feel it coming on as i was asleep - it was a sudden pain that woke me up though I must admit that massaging it seemed to ease te sharp pain!!

this was the first one i've ever had and I'm hoping I won't have another one any time soon!!

I used to get it all the time in my sleep when I did a lot of sports. It is really horrible and painful because the only way I could relieve it was to stand up and put some weight on it. I got told it can be a lack of salt. I dont put salt on anything and it was certainly worse in the summer. Most people eat way too much salt than is healthy though so i give that advice with some trepidation. Also was from my GP to me reading above it looks like it could be a number of deficiency things.

I also used to get really hot feet in bed, the soles of my feet would be scorching and I'd have to run cold water over them to try and cool them down.

Is that a common thing or is it just me? Ninja

no idea if that is common or not - but it isn't something I have ever experienced!!

A small glass of tonic water before bed cures it....

I am the weirdo with a weird hot foot disease. It's called Peripheral Neuropathy. I doubt that any other FMs have it though. Laugh
