Me too!  My heart was pounding during the last couple of scenes.  Had to have a large whiskey to calm meself down a bit

Two more episodes to go, apparently, so a few twists and turns I expect.

(I have my suspicions about someone close to Catherine being implicated in some way)

Two more episodes - hopefully the kidnapped girl will be returned but we have all the drug stuff - maybe we'll see the court case.

I personally think the writing is brilliant - I love how all the little details dovetail together.

Great acting too.

pretty much summed it up for me Soozy - I didn't particularly like Sarah Lancashire but I've loved her in this and Last Tango in Halifax - she's grown on me

Oooh I'd forgotten she used to be a druggie.

Wonder what sort of part the ex husband is gonna play in it all now that he has become 'closer' to Ryan.

He just seems a bit dodgy IMO .............then again in this sort of programme you suspect everyone!

He wants his wife back, they still want to be together, latest episode showed him trying to overcome his problem of seeing his daughter's attacker every time he saw the boy.He doesn't appear at all dodgy to me.

I think it shows very eloquently the extended damage that is done by some one's actions, that may not be immediately apparent.

The whole story is grounded in the ripple effect, from a small apparently insignificant slight, when the accountant feels undervalued,to what it has now become through his actions.

Then these ripples spread and crash into the ripples left by the previous event.

I can see all that but it just seems a bit  after eight years? Actually up until someone up there ^^^ drew him into the mix I hadn't thought about it - as you say just another thread to the story.

As I said it is a brilliantly written piece - I looked around on the net and the scripts are online to read - I think it's quite exceptional.

Just turned off Newsnight, but they started a piece which was introduced as "why do so many women like crime drama, especially one's where there is violence against women". There is a female author on the sofa who is going to be interviewed after a clip.

Thought you may wish to iPlayer it.

How dreadful to be cheering on every stamp and kick ...............never knew I was so vengeful (well - I did really) - what an excellent series.

Bad eh?   I haven't felt such well channelled rage since I tried to break down my ex's mistress's door with a trowel       (long story and even longer ago...and a trowel would not normally be my weapon of choice, but sometimes you need to improvise.....)

All in all a terrific piece of writing and so well put together, you've progressed from slappy hand Kaffs?  now it's 'kick his effin' head in'  -

I wondered what it was - I'll go and look up - if I don't find it - what's it called and who's it by?

JAKE BUGG LYRICS

"Trouble Town"

Stuck in speed bump city
Where the only thing that's pretty
Is the thought of getting out

There's a tower block overhead
All you've got's your benefits
And you're barely scraping by

In this trouble town
Troubles are found
In this trouble town
Words do get 'round

Kick the bottom make troubles flee
Smoke until our eyes would bleed
Sparkle pop the seed

Hear the sirens down the street
The kids get light on their feet
Or they'll be in the back seat

In this trouble town
Troubles are found

Sitting on the pavement
Boy you've missed your payment
And they're gonna find you soon

If there's a beating in the rain
If there's a little bit of pain, man
You're the one it happens to

If I talk of getting out
I only hear the laughter loud
It's got an ugly echo

Somewhere there's a secret road
To take me far away I know
But 'til then I am hollow

In this trouble town
Troubles are found
In this trouble town
Fools are found

Sitting on the pavement
Boy you've missed your payment
And they're gonna find you soon

If there's a beating in the streets
If there's a feeling of defeat
You're the one it happens to

Stuck in speed bump city
Where the only thing that's pretty
Is the thought of getting out
