Part of the Commonwealth-- but to get in there you have to meet certain criteria Know of 2 instances where neighbours have had their pensioner rellies try to gt out there to live with their sons/daughters-- who have had Granny flats built for them---- get rejected... How is this possible when they are part of the Commonwealth??? It's OK for them to come here--- but reverse the procedure and these probs start. It's not that they are short of space out there--- unlike here...

just to clear up this immigration stuff. The neighbours trying to get over there, if their kids have been naturalised then it shouldn't be a prob but also remember they can't have any kind of criminal convictions. My nan moved from here to there in the 90's & had no problems.

Also to get into this country from there is very hard. You have to have a job (which there are plenty of anyway) & it helps if you are married to someone born here . No criminal convictions are allowed & there is also a points system thingy.

As for the Sovereignty thing, we still have the Queen as our Queen but there are some Aussies (very few) that believe Australia should become a republic. They did a census on it a few years ago & remaining part of the Commonwealth won.
