Right I have decided to give in and try to carve a pumpkin with the kids. Do I need any special cutting tools?
Thanks Pengy
I was going to make a recipe with the pumpkin insides but nah... too lazy . I'm just sitting here eating it raw. Its like not very nice melon.
Hahaha so right. I've eaten it raw and thought the same thing.
But I was watching something (I think daybreak this morning) and they said once the pumpkin is orange the flesh is over ripe and will be too stringy to cook with.
I once made a pumpkin pie (using tinned pumpkin) and it was friggin delicious.
I just separated the seeds out [ to roast them] and I have a bowl of mush leftover. Going to puree it + I think I will make pumpkin pie after all Its too sweet to make anything savoury.

Just a sharp knife and a spoon Ells. I did a drawing of what I wanted, taped it to the pumpkin and cut through it. You can get stencils on google images.

Yes! But I can't tell you what they are
Thanks Pengy

Dammit, why didn't I think to toast the seeds *kicks self hard in the butt*

Those are brilliant songs ideas Erin and Cinds I will youtube some of those to get in the mood.
Also the theme from the Omen is pretty scary I play it every year lol.
My pumpkin pie tasted yummy but fell apart when I took it out of the dish [I put more eggs and cream to make it more low carb] Pumpkin crumble!
Joe it wouldn't stop them where I live. I'm sure every kid in a 10 mile square radius knocks at my house on Halloween. I used to buy sweets for them, but then one delightful mother pissed me right off, when her kids had very nicely taken something out of the bowl of candy, the mother piped up 'don't just take one, grab handfuls'. Nice way to teach your kids to be greedy.
How bl**dy ignorant. Unbelievable how some people bring their kids up. I suppose she thought you have a never ending supply.
I don't believe in ghouls, ghosts, derek acorah or goblins, but i celebrate it for the fun of it all. I actually think the older you get, the better it becomes - because of the parties and tomfoolery you can get up to.
Plus my mum's birthday was on Halloween, so its always a special day to me.
Korea doesn't really acknowledge Halloween though, it was a bit awkward being the only Zombie sat on a subway train Saturday night.
and its only a waste of money if you don't enjoy doing it

My Mum's birthday was today Rawky. We always double celebrated it with Halloween and joke that she was born at midnight
You're right, Halloween is an excuse to get up to tomfoolery and is fun for all ages

Frozen âBooâ-nana Pops 1 medium banana 1 cup white chocolate 8 mini chocolate chips 4 popsicle sticks
Directions:
Cut banana in half lengthwise, then in half to make four quarters. Insert popsicle sticks into bananas, and freeze bananas on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. When the bananas are frozen, fill a coffee mug with chocolate. Melt chocolate in the microwave 30 seconds at a time, stirring until the chocolate is melted and soft. Dip the bananas one at a time into the chocolate, scraping off the excess chocolate from the back of the banana, and place it on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Quickly add the chocolate chips for the eyes before the chocolate hardens (you have to work quickly here). Return to the freezer until frozen and ready to eat. Eat frozen.
Will try those Erin
The secret to great Halloween cocktails is all in the garnish! these cocktails all have one thing in common â ghoulish garnishes. Check out these great ideas, to bring a little Halloween flavor to your party!
1. Eyeball Highball â Martha Stewart uses radishes and olives frozen in ice cube trays to create these creepy looking eyeballs in this vodka drink.
2. Creepy Crawler â A melted chocolate spider web is piped into the inside of this martini glass. For an added touch hang a plastic spider off the edge of the glass.
3. Black Widow â Another spider inspired cocktail. This one uses black licorice strings as spider legs in a vodka, cassis and pomegranate cocktail.
4. Candy Corn Cordials â Combined candy corn and vodka together and let them infuse for several hours. Then add orange liqueur and garnish with more candy corn.
5. Jack-O-Lantern â This Cognac and orange cocktail is garnished to look like a pumpkin. As an added touch, cut pieces of electrical tape in the shape of jack-o-lantern faces and add them to the outside of the glass. Then just peel them off when Halloween is over.
6. Ghoul-Aid â Another creepy eyeball garnish, but this time of the sweeter variety. This one uses lychee stuffed with berry jam and a blueberry.
