I have never really  celebrated Halloween  Rosie ...although my grandkids used to go Trick or Treating 

 seems to be a regional thing. Its big where I'm from [ NI ]. We're all pagans...   

 

Ah yes... remember you saying you had the grandkids last year  

giant garden spider has too much damage but other decorations are ok, pumpkin ready to be carved and large stash of sweets in cupboard 

Have been drawing on the pumpkin, trying to get the face close to the original Halloween movie pumpkin... now about to carve it.

 

I'm the world's most kack-handed person so wish me luck !

We park the car slightly diagonally on the drive and close to the entrance so that none of the little beggars (sic) can get in.
We noted piles of ket at the front of various supermarkets, I could have quite gladly kicked them across the floor.

Thats the spirit of Halloween. 

 

Joe may I say, you and I haven't got on in the past, but when it comes to Halloween.., we have common ground. I hate callers...luckily my buzzer hasn't worked for two years

What I posted here about what I will be doing was a very toned down version of what I tweeted I would be doing. 

My girls always used to go to a big party down the road. The (mad) mother host of the party used to dress up as the Grim Reaper and take all the party goers round to their houses for trick or treating. 

 

Nowadays they have all grown up

 

last year I got a whole pile of sweeties in but no one called. I've done the same this year. Guess who'll be eating Haribo throughout November

I'll be enjoying seeing all of the children in the village dressed up and having fun as they go around the doors...must remember to get a load of goodies to dish out to them

its kinda cool though Rexi... you can put on a white wig and  play the mad old lady at the door... anyone called yet?

I should point out that my major quibble is that a lot of the older people round these parts feel intimidated when gangs of marauding teens go knocking at doors.

Oh, I can play the mad lady without the help of any wig!!

 

But no, no one here yet, and I hope they don't call tonight coz hubby is out and I am enjoying the peace and quiet!!

if only you'd said sooner... i've got a bowl full of mini bags of haribo and fruit chews - and I've still got an unopened bag - and about a dozen packets of surprise eggs things liberated from work's sample store.    I'll be joining Rexi in the haribo pig out I think.

Well I have the pumpkin carved, the fruit and nuts set out... decs up,  plenty of candles. What would make it perfect.... is any tales of ghosts or the supernatural you would like to share  - has anyone had any?

I shall spend Halloween opening the window, taking one look at the eager little faces of the Trick or Treaters and shouting 'Bugger off, this isn't America!'

Every night is Halloween for me.  Richard III dropped by the other evening and we spent a very pleasant evening chatting over a cup of (Yorkshire) tea and sharing a tube of Pringles.

I can tell you that he's not too happy at being dug up and having his old bones yanked about and gawped at - he was quite content under his car park
