Edit 3 in the car bliddy heck hope the police come before they go.
You can call emergency breakdown even without membership OK they charge more but thats the way it goes.
funny enough I said to him call the aa and he said its too late they dont come out this time of a night.or something like that
Rubbish. I'm sure they're 24-hour. (Or has that changed?)

are there other houses close by? are yours the only lights on? are your curtains open? You did the right thing calling the police.
yes I live in a street (semi detached) I cant see if anyone elses lights on cause no houses facing me.
theyve gone now with taxi driver towing them I am going to call police back now, I wouldnt want them coming to me now just incase someone else needs them urgently
Did you manage to get the cars rgistration? might be a scamquote:Originally posted by Lockes no 1 fan:quote:Originally posted by CaptVimes:

Sounds like BS to me.
I'm with RAC I'm pretty sure they're 24 hour and I'm sure AA would be as well.
They are 24-hour and besides there are 24-breakdowns that the AA oursource to frequently when they cant get one of their own vans out. So yes its definitely rubbish.quote:Originally posted by jennywren:quote:Originally posted by Lockes no 1 fan:quote:Originally posted by CaptVimes:

You will probably be OK now if your ex has turned up and the dog was barking. But I would ask any of you elderly or single people in your neighbourhood if they had anyone knocking on there door. Just in case they are looking for easy targets in the future

Dont even think of going out and helping this creep, if they were genuine they would have gone away or called a tow truck if they needed help.

The fact you're shocked about that tells me you need a London Awareness Course.
Stranger: Excuse me have you got the time?
Me: If you think you're gonna steal my watch you got another think coming.
Stranger: Excuse me, do you live round here?
Me: Why do you want to know? I've seen your face now, so if you think you're gonna be casin my joint dont bother (*dickhead)

Even if someone stares at me I ask them if they want a bloody photograph
This is so true for London unfortunately. Ive only worked there but, if someone speaks to me whilst I am going to/from somewhere is either a begger, a nutter, a potential mugger sizing me up or a tourist. Its not worth taking the chance of it being a tourist .quote:Originally posted by Karma_:quote:Originally posted by Lockes no 1 fan:quote:Originally posted by Real:quote:Originally posted by Lockes no 1 fan:

I'd never know.....no eye contact EVER.
We're really selling the place aren't we.

Lockes... I had a friend scammed out of a good amount of money this way. Car broken down. No cash. Could she help? She was even stupid enough to go to a cash point machine with him when he promised to repay her and gave her his 'work' address and phone number (it was a Sunday)! It was daytime and she said he was well-dressed and well spoken blah blah blah... Grrrr!!!
*sitting wondering* why they where in my street it is not a shortcut, the only way they would be in the street is if they were visiting someone. And if that was the case why didnt they just go back to them???

I know cant beleive I opened the door going to make a statement to police, just in case. Maybe they thought I had a fella till I opened the door and they saw my face

Exactly. And if there were 3 of them in the car, they could have pushed it themselves. Others confirm the AA is 24-hours.
So it does sound like you have been told a pack of lies, all of which you can repeat to the police. It's a potential M.O. and the police may recognise it.
Did you get the car number plate?

Dont go Lockes this person could be a murderer for all you know. Lock your doors and switch off the lights in your house. You shouldnt of answered the door at this time of night. Call someone you know and tell them about this or call the police

Don't worry but make sure you tell the police your concerns and people in your area what has happenned. A person was doing scams like this in my area a while ago and allegidly robbed 70+ year old women and a disabled women. I do not want to go into the case that much as I am called as a witness. As I was the one that final caught the suspect and it has not gone to court yet.
